BOE 4.0 to BEx(source) relationship

We are currently building reports on BOE 4.0. We made some changes to the BEx query (deleted, added Key frigures) and made come connection setting changes. Due to this changes, our reports is now thorowing errors, and not able to connect to the query. Is this something normal with BEx connection as a source. Can someone plesae share their experiance or knowledge on this. Thanks.

Hi,
Please provide the error in detail .
Thanks,

  • BOE Publications performance issue in source database.

    Hello all,
I have a set of BO Publications, that run nightly. The source documents are Crystal Reports that runs on Sybase stored procedures. On days when the publication runs for over 20 dynamic recepients, the tempdb in Sybase, set at 1.5GB is filling to over the threshold value and is creating warnings in the database logs. When large datasets are processed by the Crystal Reports, the tempdb tablespace fills up and the publications are failing. This tempdb issue does not occur if the Crystal Reports are run in stand-alone mode.
We monitored the Sybase system while the publications are running, and we can see that separate process ids are created in Sybase for each dynamic recepient, one after another, indicating that report instances are not run in parallel for all dynamic recepient.
Could someone with a better understanding of the BOBJ publications, post comments to help me understand how BOBJ schedules the Crystal Reports ( in parallel or series ) and why the tempdb tables in the database are filled up?
The publications are all set to 'One database fetch per recipient' in the Advanced tab, to prevent the tempdb table from filling too quickly and failing the reports.

Can you run the same query on Physical SQL Server DB and let us know the outcome ?

  • Webi report on OLAP Bex query -  Cost element Hierarchy not working Drill down

    Hello,
We have a BO report on Bex query, Not on universe, we have a Hierarchy for Cost Element Group, and we are expecting the Drill down functionality for that in BO report, but it does not.
Webi report on OLAP Bex query -  Cost element Hierarchy not working Drill down
Any pointers how to do it please
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hi,
WebI reports on BEx source don't use same Drill feature as other sources, it's replaced by expland/collapse of hierarchy nodes (documented in WebI user guide in § "24.1 Drill defined"). This means you have to create query which selects all hierarchy sub-tree you plan on exploring later in report, otherwise if no data is available under a node there will be no '+/-' sign to visit this part of tree.
You could try first to select "All members" from hierarchy in QueryPanel and see if behavior in report suits your needs. Then you should restrict hierarchy member selection to what's really needed to avoid performance issues.

  • GSM Specifications that are both made/manufactured and bought/purchased

Does anyone have products that they both make and buy? If so, how did you handle creating them in GSM? Did you create one specification (output material) or two specifications (raw material and formula with an output)? How did you come about making the decision to create on or two specs, what were the pro's and con's of both scenarios you came up with?

I know this message was intended for the user community to participate and provide examples of their own use. However I wanted to throw in some information around this use case and how we intended the product to be used.
We intended for this use case to be answered with Referenced Outputs. For example, if you currently purchase peanut paste you would create a material specification to represent it. Lets say that you now acquire a new product line that already manufactures peanut paste. You could create a formulation to represent that manufacturing process and link the existing raw material peanut paste to the formulation as an output. Now the original peanut paste specification is a raw material and a formula output. You'll see both of these listed as the material type. Now when a user consumes the peanut paste material in a formula they can choose at that moment to select the "context" formulation that created it. If they don't choose a context you can assume they are using the paste off the shelf regardless of how it was obtained. They could also choose the actual formulation that created it to indicate that this is an inline process and "formulation A" is the process that is used to create it.
In cases where the peanut paste has different or could have different material attributes like nutrition, compliance, composition breakdown you would want to keep those specifications separate so that the theoretical attributes will be calculated accurately based on what material was used.
Topics that could influence your decision include the volatility of the product and/or manufacturing processes, how you handle the sourcing relationship to specification record and in general the volatility of the specification record. For example, if you have one team that is managing raw materials and they always up issue a specification when a new supplier is added. If you have another team that manages outputs, they will now have to be involved when that raw material is up issued. This could be avoided using the get latest revision feature in the application but you will need to make sure you have an established change management procedure in place. This is just one example to help illustrate how your decision could depend on how you have implemented your system, your approval/change management process and how your teams interact with one another.
Hope this helps further the discussion.

  • Blocked Domain causing Customer Complaints

We are a marketing firm providing deployment services as an ESP for our client, a national business trade show and exposition company.  We utilize a dedicated transmission domain with associated IP's bound to it for deployment of customer emails.  Each IP has been SenderScore certified through Return Path.  These emails are specific to shows that recipients are either about to attend or have attended in the past.  It is essential to our client's continued business success that they are able to communicate with their customer base with important show information via email.
I have requested whitelisting through your online service with no success.  This is becoming an increased issue with their attendees utilizing Verizon’s email service.  They are complaining to our customer and are losing  business as a result of these emails not being allowed delivery.
We work diligently with our client currently utilizing dedicated IP's to ensure best practices with respect to their list hygiene and maintenance.  The IP's are used exclusively for this customer to communicate with their customer base of trade show attendees and publication subscribers.  We remove hard bounces and opt-outs in real-time.  Every message sent clearly identifies the source relationship and is CAN-SPAM compliant with respect to physical postal address and functioning opt-out link.
We utilize ReturnPath to monitor our reputation scoring, which all average 90 and above.  Our complaint rates and unknown user levels are very low.
We completely honor and respect Verizon’s efforts to stem the tide of spam.  However, in this case, we feel that having this domain blacklisted is unwarranted.  We respectfully ask for a review of the details surrounding this request.  Please help us understand if an unknown problem exists so that we may better comply with your acceptable use settings to remove the domain listing from your service.
    Thank you.

  • ODBC and FileMaker 9

First time poster...first time working with Oracle/ODBC...
I've been using FileMaker for the last 11 years and just moved up to FM 9 which now supports ESS (External SQL Source) relationships similar to Peer-to-Peer within FM. Our data provider is using 10g and I need to download ODBC drivers to make this work (They've created the 'views' and DSN). I will be installing drivers to work with XP on my laptop for development and with Win 2003 Server for the final applications.
I guess I thought it would be like downloading printer drivers with their own installers, etc. I think I've gone full circle with what I thought I needed, downloaded, found out it wasn't what I needed, and still looking.
My bottom line questions...what do I need, where do I get it, how do I install? It doesn't sound like a lot when I print it here, and I'm hoping I've made it harder than it needs to be. Thanks, Bob

I'm a first-time poster too. :-) Hope someone will reply to this post.
Like Bob, I'm going to be using FileMaker 9 and ODBC to interface with Oracle 10g. Just wanted to confirm a couple things:
    1) That FileMaker will work fine accessing an Oracle "View" as opposed to "Table".
    2) My FileMaker client will be running on Windows Server 2003. Can anyone point me at the exact current ODBC driver?

  • Reports to be sent to QA

    Hi,
I have developed many Web Intelligence reports, how I can see them in QA server & Production server.
    Nancy

    Hi,
If you have the latest BOE version ie, XI3.x then you can use the Life Cycle Management ie, LCM tool for promoting the webi report created to either production or QA systems.
On top of BOE you have to install the LCM application which gets deployed on the Application Server which you are using with BOE.
Then launch the LCM tool and create LCM job where you can select the BOE Source as system where all webi reports have been saved and BOE Destination where you want to promote the reports.
But important thing to note that the BOE Version in both the Source and Destination systems should be same for LCM to use.
You can go through the below link for more information:
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/xi31_LCM_User_en.pdf
Other wise you can use the Import wizard tool to import the reports from one version to different version of BOE systems.

  • WebElements: HTML not rendering when using Bex Query as Source

    Hi all,
Has anyone managed to use the WebElements when creating a report on a BW source (BEx) query. I have used WebElements quite a lot on non-SAP sources and works like a charm. Now I would like to use it on a SAP environment, but the controls are not displaying, only the HTML text.
Can anyone provide some insight to whether the WebElements are compatible on a SAP environment in Crystal or s there something special that needs to be done here.
    Thanks
    Jacques

    Dear Jamie & Jacques,
Is there any news regarding this issue? I'm having the same issue here. I'm using BW datasource. My BOE, Crystal Report 2008, and Integration Kit are all on SP3 (with no FP applied yet).
All the WebElements components are shown as HTML tag.
But actually when i tried to remove the Datasource, the WebElements also don't show up. I've followed up all the instructions on the WebElements guide, and on the SDN link below.
I added WECalculator and WEBuilder using formula syntax below to the report. But they only show up as HTML tag.
    Formula @calc (component WECalculator)
WECalculator ("number", "0", "Integer", "Enter an Integer value.")
    Formula @builder (component WEBuilder)
    stringvar allelements:= {@calc};
    WEBuilder(allelements, 1)
I've done everything as per the guide and SDN link below:
    browser interpretation
    [Interpreting WebElements in the browser;
    1) ensure that Can Grow is not checked on for the formulae that contain any webelements.
    done
    2) ensure that the formula in the designer is only 1 line in height...these 2 are required to make pass through html work in the viewers
done, i insert the 2 formulas to report and it appears as 1 single line.
    3) the web server should be restarted after making the change to the web.xml file
    done
if the above don't work please provide some more info such as
    a) which version of business objects enterprise you are using
BOE, Crystal Report, and Integration Kit all on SP3. Below are the installation files i used (downloaded from SAP Service Marketplace).
    Server
    1. BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3 (ENTERPRISE03_0-10007443.EXE)
    2. SAP BusinessObjects Integration XI 3.1 SP3, version for SAP solutions (BOBJINTGRSAP03_0-51038935.ZIP) u2013 Server installation
    Client
    1. SAP BusinessObjects Integration XI 3.1 SP3, version for SAP solutions (BOBJINTGRSAP03_0-51038935.ZIP) u2013 Client installation
    2. Crystal Report 2008 v1 (SP3) Win Server on IA32 32bit Full Build (51038906.ZIP)
    b) what viewer are you using
I ran the rpt file (saved without using .rpt extension) through InfoView.
    c) does the select menu show up in the crystal reports designer html preview mode
It only shows up as HTML tag as well in the Crystal Report designer HTML preview mode.
    Please help me.

  • Sql Developer Data Modeler 3.0 EA1: Relationship source and target names

When opening my version 2 model in version 3.0 EA1 the source name and target name of all my 231 relationships are deleted.
Is there a solution for this? I don't want to reenter these 462 labels...
    Sincerely,
    Marc de Oliveira

    Hi Peter,
When I examine an XML file for a relation converted from version 2.0, the XML elements "nameOnSource" and "nameOnTarget" are missing in the converted 3.0 EA1 versionthey are not loaded during "open" of older design. If you define them they will go into XML file.

  • How to configure crystal report xml file as data source in BOE in Solaris?

    Hi,
How to configure crystal reports from xml file as data source in Solaris? I didn't find any suitable driver for xml / excel files for sun solaris.
Which driver i have to use to connect xml file to crystal report to view my crystal report in solaris BOE?
And the same way excel file as data source for crystal report.
    Thanks

Hi Don thanks for the reply,
In windows environment I donot have any problem when creating crystal report from Xml file and Excel file. After creating reports when I publish those into boe server in solaris, getting connection failed error.
My solaris BOE server doent have any network connection with windows machines. So i have to place the files in solaris server.
Below the steps what I tried:
    1. Created crystal reports from cr designer in windows using ADO.Net(xml) and in another try with Xml webservices drivers. Reports works well as it should.
    2. Saved in BOE repository in Solaris server from crystal reports and changed database configuration settings as:
-Used custom database logon information and specified cr_xml as custom driver.
-Chnaged database path to file directory path according to solaris server file path </app/../../>
        -tried table prefix also
        - Selected radio button use same database logon as when report is run saved.
    My environment :
    SAP BOXI3.1 sp3
    crystal reports 2008 sp3
    SunOS
    Cr developing in windows 7.
For Excel I tried with ODBC in windows but I can't find any ODBC or JDBC drivers for Excel in solaris.
Any help to solve my issues

  • BEx Integration with different source systems

    Hi All
I know we can create BEx querys on top of an infoprovider. But instead of storing data into BW and creating reports using BEx tools can we integrate BEx with the other source systems.  Like Business Objects tool which can be integrated with different sources. My client wants to know whether we can integrate with BEx for the following
Support data source -- SAP BW
    Support data source -- Oracle
Support data source -- MS SQL Server
Support data source -- MS Access
Support data source -- MS Excel
Support data source -- ASCII Text files
    Support data source -- XML/XSD
Support data source -- Web Services
Support data source -- SAP R/3
Support data source -- BO Universe
Thanks for letting me know your opinions

    Hi,
in theory you can. You will still have a virtual provider on top of your Infosource which will be connected to your datasource; thus you'll have to create the structures; you'll have to load master data as well... so not so nice solution if you think that at this stage, the storage will be the less of your costs....
How are you going to deal with R/3 data?? I mean a great advantage of BW is really when you have an R/3 behind...
I'd rather consolidate all these disparate datasources using the Visual compsoer which can get this data out of nearly an datasource and merge them in one single report; in theory again you could implement all BEx functionalities but at which cost and effort??
Weird that a customer is asking such a question because it is usually the other way around: use SAP BW data in another front-end... by the way SAP is going to acquire BO soon....
    hope this helps...
    Olivier.

  • Jump from (RRI) BEx query parsing infoobject without MD to source system

    Hi!
I have a snag that I hope someone out there will be able to help me with. I have a query that cointains purchasing line items. I want to jump from a purchasing order number in the query to transaction me23n (display purchasing order) in the source system.
This works fine in the portal (don't ask me why there's a difference..) where ECC is launched as a new portal window and the data is parsed correctly. But when attemting to do the same in BEx Analyser the system pops a dialog demaning that I choose which infosource should be used for reversing the infoobject into the proper ECC table field...
Now the infoobject is 0REF_DOC_NR, and it doesn't have any masterdata or texts.. so there is no "papertrail" for the system to follow back to the source.
In RSBBS the I have selected delete for all other infoobjects and set the line for 0_ref_doc_nr like this:
InfoObject: Reference Document Number, Type: Table Field, Field Name: EBELN, Selection Type: Parameter, Required Entry: X, Data Element: EBELN, Domain: Blank, SET/GET Parameter: BES
    Any tips?

with field assignment: shopping cart number = GS_HEADER-OBJECT_ID (for drill down on particular field, i.e. open the URL with this field value entred from sender query's field shopping cart number)
    result is coming: http://(hostname):(SRM port)/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/bbp_mon_sc?sap-client=200&sap-language=EN&GS_HEADER-OBJECT_ID='selected number value'&GS_HEADER-OBJECT_ID=10000456
