BOM explosion number field

Hello Gurus,
Is there any field for BOM explosion number in production order header data too?One field is in assignment tab in CO02 but I guess it is at item level.
I dont find this field at header level but perhaps it is hidden. Do you see it?
cheers
Sunny

Sunny,
This is just an understanding problem i think. In SAP the header data is maintained in 2 tables infact in 3 tables.
1. - AUFK - Basically the order master table.
2. - AFKO - Basically the Header table, containing details of the order which is common if the order has multiple items.
3. - AFPO - Basically this is where specific to the Order Item data is stored, for normal order you can find only one item per order. But you can really see the difference when you have co-products in your order, here in AFPO table you can see multiple items for the order.
Hope this helps your understanding,

  • BOM explosion number.

    Hello SAP Gurus,
What is the use of BOM explosion number? after creation how & where to assigne it?
    with regards,
    dev123.

    Hi,
If you want to ensure that for a certain production unit, the BOM structure is always exploded with the same date, you can assign a BOM explosion number to the planned order (or for make-to-order production it can be directly assigned to the sales order).
If you do not use the assignment of a BOM explosion number, the planned start date of the planned order is always used as the explosion date for the BOM. The system explodes the particular BOM that is valid on this date.
For multi-level BOM structures, larger time intervals may exist between the explosion dates of the individual assemblies. If BOMs (or alternative BOMs) have been changed in the meantime (for example, exchanging individual components due to new technical drawings, changed production techniques, due to parts to be discontinued etc.) a situation may exist whereby an assembly that is used repeatedly is produced with different BOM structures.
    Create BOM Explosion Number:-
    1.  Starting from the MRP menu, choose Master data --> BOM explosion number -->Edit (MDSP)
The system displays the initial screen for maintaining the BOM explosion number.
    2.  Choose  .
The screen for maintaining the BOM explosion numbers now appears.
    3.  Choose New entries.
A screen now appears where you can enter new BOM explosion numbers.
    4.  Enter data as required.
    BOM explosion number
The BOM explosion number is the object for which the following data is maintained. It can be entered alphanumerically.
    Fixed key date
The fixed key date determines which bill of material is exploded.
    Plant
You can also specify a BOM explosion number for a specific plant. Enter the appropriate plant in this case.
    Material
You can specify a BOM explosion number for a specific material. Enter the appropriate material in this case.
    Status
You can set the BOM explosion number to active or inactive using the status field. Only active BOM explosion numbers are used in the planning run.
    Save your entries.

  • BOM Explosion Number in Sales Order

    Hi Experts,
For a make-to-order case, I would like to assign a predefined BOM explosion number with fixed key date to a sales order item. Instead of manually assigning the BOM explosion number to the sales order item, is there any way to let the system automatically assign the BOM explosion number?
As I read from SAP Library under the BOM Explosion Number (Fixed Key Date), it states "The system can automatically specify the BOM explosion number when entering planned independent requirements or customer independent requirements or when entering the sales order." So is there any configuration to be done in advance to enable the BOM explosion number to be automatically assigned to sales order item?
    Thanks,
    SW

I tried also setting up the material and its BOM determination by specifying only 1 BOM out of multiple BOMs. Still,
    1. When I add the said material into sales order line and save the sales order, the BOM explosion number value never appear automatically in the sales order line.
    2. When I run the planning on the sales order through MD50, the planned results do not have the BOM explosion number attached.
I think your advice is more applicable to selection of a BOM from multiple BOMs instead of determining the fixed key date based on appropriate BOM explosion number, correct me if I am wrong.

  • BOM change number field is compulsory

    Hi Guys,
I need to setup BOM (CS02) change number entry field is compulsory (using TCode CS02). How to setup config settings? pls advise
    Thanks,
    Sankaran

    Dear Muthusamy,
Even if you have maintained settings in OS27,In T code CS02 ,the system allows
you to change the BOM without a change number.
The same question was posted by Mr.Anbalagan ,3 days before.
<b>The follwing are the answers which I posted to him, check this under post thread name <b>ECR Number</b></b>
<i>If you want to make Change number field as mandatory for CS02,u have to do it
using the authorisation object. For certain users you can make this as an
mandatory field ,just discuss with Basis & ABAP consultants, they can help out
    you in this regard.
Though you might have done settings perfectly in OS27,OS54,but the system
allows you to change a BOM without any change number.</i>
    <b>Answer2:</b>
    <i>
Plz make this Authorization Object C_STUE_NOH as mandatory for T code CS02.
I'm sure BASIS & ABAP consultant can help you in this regard.
I have checked in my system for certain users, like without change number it doesnt allow to change BOM,
So after giving SU53,I found the authorization obeject C_STUE_NOH was missing.
So go ahead in using this object.</i>
    <b>answer3:</b>
<i>You can make that field in CS02 as a mandatory for certain users, using a field
    exit.
Field name AENNR -Change number can be made as mandatory .
Plz explain the case to ABAP consultant.
First in SE37 he will be checking whether this particular field AENNR has got a field exit.
Later on he will be writing some codes to make this field as mandatory.
This is what i wanted to convey to u.
In my project ,for the core users the field has been made mandatory,so in CS02,he/she cant go inside without giving the change number.
At that time when u give SU53,this authorisation object will be found not given.
So just have a word with the ABAP consultant,he can help u.</i>
    <b>Reward points if useful.</b>

  • BOM Group number field

    Hi,
We are using LSMW for Routing data upload.
The "Group" field in the CA01 screen is giving a problem.
The Group number, (which is generated internally) which was used for uploading the previous record is remaining in the field while uploading the next record also, due to which the system is not accepting the Group Counter 01 each time.
    Any suggestions please
    Thanking you
    Ramakanth

    Hi,
If this problem is with Routing Group Number, then the Set-get parameters for the Group number must be activated.
If it is active, immediately after coming back to the CA01 screen automatically the Group Number will appear on the screen.
So, deactivate this in SPRO --> Production --> Basic data --> Routing.
    Hope this helps..

  • BOM Explosion with order finish date

    Hi,
In transaction OPPQ it is possible to configure the BOM explosion date used by MRP and creation of a process order (see SAP NOTE 506345).
I suppose this setting is also considered when re-reading master data during release of an order.
The field BESAL can have the following values:
                BOM explosion number/order start date
    1     Order start date
    2     Order finish date
3     BOM explosion number/order start date
4     BOM explosion number/order finish date
What I do not understand is that value 4 also end up in using the order start date when re-reading master data. Here the function module CO_ZF_VALIDATIONDATE_DET is called which contains the following coding:
    + Festwerte Feld BESAL:+*
    * ' ' Seriennummer/Eckstarttermin
    * 1   Eckstarttermin
    * 2   Eckendtermin
    * 3   Seriennummer
    IF T399D-BESAL <> CHAR2.
    * Auflösung mit Starttermin
    u2026
    ELSE.
    * Auflösung mit Endtermin
    u2026
    ENDIF.
which says only use the Order finish date if BESAL has the value 2. The comment showing the possible values gives me the impression that SAP simply forgot to adapt this coding when splitting the value 3 (prev. only BOM explosion number) into 3 BOM explosion number/order start date and 4 BOM exlosion number/order finish date.
On the other hand the SAP Note mentioned above documents this behaviour.
Does anyone know the reason why value 4 (BOM exlosion number/order finish date) results in using the order start date ?

    hi,
The defination in OPPQ is only working for the MRP, when the planned order is created.
Then the explosion date will be copied from planned order to production/process order when you convert the planned order.
However, when the production or process order is created manually, or when you do a re-read master data process, then a different BOM explosion date process will be carried out as described in the SAP note 506345, it has explained the behavior clearly base on the different value of paramter:
    V_T399D_S-BESAL = initial, 1, 3 or 4
V_T399D_S-BESAL = 2 (Explosion with order finish date)
So there is no problem to have different behavior of planned order and production/process order.

  • What is the importance on BOM Explosiion number

    Hi,
what is the importance of BOM Explosion number . can any one give me in detail in which context it is used.
second is valuation type is getting populated in components of a production order. from where this valuation type is flowing to the child components.
    thanks in advance
    madan mohan

    Hi,
By means of Bom explosion number we can define a common explosion date for all BOM levels.
The system explodes the BOM that is valid on this date.
For multi level BOM lareger time intervals may exist between the explosion dates of individual assemblies. If the BOM's have changed mean time a situation may exist where by an assembly that is used repeatedly is produced with a different BOM structure.
Therefore the BOM should always be exploded with the same date.
    Tcode MDSP
You need to enter fixed key date, plant material and the status whether active or inactive.
You can enter the BOM Explosion No in planned order or when creating PIR.

  • BOM Explosion setting in SPRO

    Dear Gurus/Friends
This is related to SPRO->Plant Parameters->Bom Explosion
    Here there are 5 selections
         BOM explosion number/order start date
    1     Order start date
    2     Order finish date
3     BOM explosion number/order start date
4     BOM explosion number/order finish date
Here there is no difference between empty and 3
Could any one explain the total concept
    K.Prabakaran

    Hi praba
BOM in SAP is dynamic one. The validity of BOM is from any date upto the system valid date.
If you have run MRP at FERT level for ex today 14/05/08. The dependent requirements are exploded based on the valid BOM of this date.
If you have multi level BOM and you proceed from bottom level to top level by converting plan order to prod order step by step. You assume it takes 10 days to come up to top level.
In the middle, if you have changed BOM at particular low level code. While converting plan order to prod order system will take the valid BOM on that date. It will not look on the Explosion date of 14/05/08.
If you use BOM explosion number with fixed key date. BOM will get exploded always of the fixed key date of 14/05/08. Till the top FERT level is completed and made GR.
This BOM explosion number will be given in PIR agsint the requiredment.
    Hope this is clear.

  • Date of BOM Explosion/Routing in the production order

    Dear gurus,
i would like have the Date of BOM Explosion/Routing in the production order same the "Basic start date" .
I setting the value 1 = Basic start DATE  in the customizing transaction OPPQ and OPPR but the system calculate this date wrong.
Are the the other setting for this necessity ?
    Thanks a lot
    Daniele
    PP TEAM

    Dear Toto,
The standard procedure is that the system first checks whether a BOM explosion number exists for the BOM. If one does exist,
the BOM is exploded using the fixed key date contained in the BOM explosion number. If a BOM explosion number does not exist,
the BOM is exploded with the order start date.
Check the setting in OPPQ for BOM explosion.

  • BOM Explosion based on Production Order Creation

    Hi PP Guru,
My client wants the BOM Explosion date to be based on Production Order creation date. Could you help to advise how to set-up this requirement?
I have showed them these possible System Configuration in BOM explosion, but none of these options are applicable to their current business practice.
    <OPPQ> BOM Explosion:
         BOM explosion number/order start date
    1     Order start date
    2     Order finish date
3     BOM explosion number/order start date
4     BOM explosion number/order finish date
    Looking forward to you reply.
    thanks,
    John

    Hi Sundaresan,
Thanks for your reply.  So do you think there's any other way to fulfill the client's requirement?  I was thinking to do the "PP Master Data" instead, in order to choose the date of explosion.
    Actually the scenario is this:
Initially the Material XXXXXX has a valid BOM on 03.01.2011 to 12.31.9999, but then, some changes has been made, maybe the user has changed the component or added new component using 04.01.2011 to 12.31.9999 as validity date.
For example, the user created the Production Order (manually in CO01 or from Planned Order conversion) on 03.20.2011 and the Order Star date is 04.01.2011, so the system will copy the updated BOM which is valid on 04.01.2011 to 12.31.9999 (based on Order Start date).
However, the client wants to explode the previous BOM instead (03.01.2011 to 12.31.9999).
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    John

  • BOM explosion  with Two Material Number

    Hi
How can  i Explosion in  BOM with  two material number, if any Fm is there in sap or any othre options
    Please tell me
    Regards

    Your question is not complete.
There are two types of bom explosion. from child to parent and parent to child.
You have to pass one material at a time. Please search in sdn for the fm's. This question ihas been widely discussed here.
