In the book on Pages it shows 4 icons at the top right of the screen. From the right they are
A double arrow, spanner, landscape and Info buttons. On our iPad there are only 3.
They are spanner, a plus sign and paint brush. Why is there a difference?

Siri does Not work on the iPad 2. iOS 7 is not even out yet, so we have no way of knowing if you'll be able to upgrade to it.

Photo books on ipad2

Is there a way to create photo books on the ipad2? One of the main reasons I purchased the ipad2 was to edit and organize photos with the touch screen. I love the feature on iphoto, but can't seem to find anything comparable on my ipad.

I am having an almost identical problem and hoped that iOS 6 and the new iTunes would fix it. Regrettably, I again got 3 movies synced last night before iTunes locked up and gave me the xxxx cannot be synced "because the file cannot be written" message. Same deal with iTunes hanging on "finishing sync" after that and me having to remove the iPad from the cable to get things to come back to life on the PC (Win 7 64 bit).
I've also done a factory restore followed by a restore from backup and have the same problem.

Kindle books on iPad2 and synching or saving to iMac

I have Kindle installed on my iPad2. When I synched the iPad2 to my iMac the books I have purchased to my Kindle do not synch. The Kindle App does appear in my iTunes after the synch. It also shows that I can get documents from my iMac to the Kindle app.
I have read a few threads but don't really understood out why the synch does not occur or how I can get the books to my computer. Can this be done and if so, how?

Your Amazon purchased books are linked to your Amazon account (not your iTunes account), so won't copy back to your computer through iTunes. If you want your Kindle books on your Mac then you need to download the Mac Kindle app from the Mac app store, link it to your Amazon account, and download the books from your Amazon account directly into it : Kindle for Mac help

You have probably not signed into your iTunes account on the iPad yet. Are there iBooks books? Sign into your iTunes account on the iPad by going to the settings app and select store and set your iTunes account. You should make sure you are up to date on your version of iOS too by connecting to a computer with iTunes.

How do you move pictures from Mac book to ipad2

I just bought a iPad 2 and this is my very first computer device. My girl has a Mac book pro and has pictures of us on the Mac book. I would like to put them on my I pad so I can show them to others. My iPad is sync to her Mac book and I can move stuff from my iPad to the Mac book. Could someone please help. I am not real good with computers but I'm picking it up real easy.

First make sure the photos you want on your ipad have been put into iPhoto on your girlfirend's Mac Book Pro.
Connect your ipad to your girlfriend's Mac Book Pro and run iTunes on her Mac Book Pro. You should see your ipad listed in the left hand column of iTunes. Select your ipad and in the right hand part of the window select the folder than has the photos you want on your ipad. Then select Sync at the bottom of the window.

Syncing movies from Power book to iPad2

Not sure if this is where I should be asking this question but it's a start. I purchased and downloaded movies from iTunes onto my PowerBook. I would now like to put them on my iPad. But when I sync they are not there. Can I not do that?

I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I upgraded to lion. I tried to buy an audio book and download it to my nano like I have done at least 50 times before. Now the dialog box states that I need an ipod touch for the same function. MacBook Pro 2008 w/ m.trac

I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I recently upgraded to Lion which is causing lots of issues. Aside from that, I went to the Itunes store to purchase books like I have done at least 100 times before with no problems. Now I can by the book and get it to my computer, however when I tried to download the book to my 3rd generation ipod the dialog box informed me that to download any new audiobook purchases I would need an ipod touch. My ipod nano 3rd generation serves my purposes just fine. Why should I be forced to buy something I do not want just to continue something I have always done seamlessly? I know this is more of a rant than a question but I am sure someone else out there has had this happen to them. Maybe you could share your thoughts on how to work around this issue if possible?

I forgot to add the last obvious and crucial step I had taken - plugging a different iPod into my system. It was also not recognized. That was the final proof I needed to determine if the problem was device or system. But now what?

I've created a book using a 3rd-party template. I now need to generate/update the book. I do not see a Gnerated command on the File menu. Where is that command, or how do I do this?

Two things:
When you open a content file, did you click some place in the content? The insertion point needs to be inside a text flow to show structure in the structure view.
It is possible, though I would think rare, to have a structured book with unstructured content files. In my work, I use a structured book that has mostly structured document files, but also has a few unstructured ones. So, I am thinking that maybe the original author used an old structured book file and added unstructured files to it, which would give you the results you are seeing.

Mail fails to recognize names from address book

My information in address book shows as follows
Name: J Doe
Email address: [email protected]
If someone has me in their address book as Doe John and sends an email to me at my email address ([email protected]), Mail.app does not recognize me and asks me if I want to 'Add to Address Book'.
The same happens if a sender has a minor change in the Name (such as even a dot in the name) of any recipient, regardless of the fact that I have the correct name in the address book. Mail fails to recognize the recipient even though the email address is identical, and will ask me if I want to 'Add to Address Book'.
One would expect Mail to use just the email address and recognize the contact as already being in the Address Book.
I just spent a good three hours investigating this.
There have been numerous posts discussing this both here and elsewhere over the years but I'm surprised that there has not been a solution. Here are some examples..
1. Mail can't recognize my contact email address
2. Address Book editing
3. Mail doesn't show names from the Address Book
In the 3rd example above, Golden Shoes suggests that this is the same for every email client, but I must disagree because Postbox and Thunderbird does display the information correctly from the Address Book, infact Postbox does this impressively I must add.
It would be great if this was fixable in Mail. Is there a solution for this?

I followed your suggestions.
Both AB and AB within Mail were empty of contacts after I deleted my iCloud contacts from the mac. I even did a reboot just in case. After this, I rechecked contacts and all my contacts appeared again both in AB and AB within Mail.
I quit and reopened Mail to find that the problem still persisted. I know and rechecked that these contacts are not present in my previous recipients list so it is definitely not that database which is preventing this.
The funny thing (maybe not funny since this is really bugging me) is that Mail on iOS (iPhone) works just fine. The Mail on iPhone seems to query the sender/recipient email address, accurately realizes that the contact is already in the AB, and shows as such. The same email in Mail.app on the mac asks me if I want to add the contact to AB.
Is this really a unique situation? Is everyone else not experiencing the same?
If you ask someone to change your name within their address book and send an email to you, does Mail on the mac recognize you regardless of what that sender named you as? Or does it ask you to add to AB?
