I'm getting ready to do my first iPhoto book and many of your posts have been very helpful...including the suggestions to save to pdf for a final proof before ordering. Even so, I have a couple of very basic questions that perhaps somebody can help me with:
1. Once I "upload" a book, and receive it in the mail, can I then re-order additional copies without "uploading" it again? Or, is it resident on an Apple server where I can just re-order?
2. Does the "upload" process work by some sort of FTP or...is it Apple magic that I should just trust?

Just a note about preserving a book for later ordering. I've found it very expedient to create a new library for each book I create, copy the photos that I need for the book over from my primary library with iPhoto Library Manager and when the book has been ordered and received I burn that library package to a disk via the Finder. This will preserve the book in case you need another copy some time later without worrying about deleting any of the photos used or the book itself. Tutorial #9a describes how to archive a book.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

If the academic scales are defined at module level i.e., in module evaluation infotype, the same scales will be inherited to the module booking and appraisal. We also have the provision to define a different scale in module booking, in such a case, this will be used in appraisal.
If no scales are maintained at all in module 'evaluation' infotype and during module booking, the scales defined in img activity ' define standard scales ' will be used.
If your requirement is to use only the scales defined in module ' evaluation ' infotype, then u can leave the 'scale ID' field blank during module booking process, then the scale ID defined at module level will be inherited though not displayed in booking dialog.

Iphoto book will not upload even in safe mode when trying to buy book, any suggestions on how to complete the "BUY BOOK" process?
Make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the fix below:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
After each run thru the repair process see if you can create a PDF file of the book as described in this Apple Document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it. If you can try ordering the book. If you can't finish trying all of the otpions and then boot into Safe mode and try there.

Can anyone help with the Photo Book process? I have tried at least a dozen times and the Photo Book always fails at the very last stage of the process. I ordered Buy Book, it assembles the book and files are transferred until the very last moment... it says " An error occurred while uoloading one of your files. Please check your network connection and click Retry to resend your files." It fails every time, any advice? My server is TalkTalk which may explain everything !! ?? Help.
Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and order from there.
Also make a PDF file of your book according to this Apple Document, iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it, before you order to check for errors. Keep that file to compare with the printed copy when it arrives.

Buying a swatch book in the hope that it will give you magic formulae for creating CMYK colors is an exercise in head-banging.
The problem is that CMYK is a device-dependent color space. IOW, the device that prints the CMYK build (offset press) determines the final color.
The 21st century version of swatch books is something like Pantone's GOE system. Each color gives you values expressed in L*a*b, a device-independent color space. Assuming you know your final CMYK output destination (and have an accurate profile of that), you can get a very close match to your expectations. -
? about image resolution/color correction when apple prints photo book
My first time making a photo book. I color correct and sharpen all of my images in Adobe Lightroom 2 first. Then I save the jpegs and import into iPhoto to make a book. Is there an option for turning off auto color correction when the file is uploaded to apple for printing? Is there an accurate way to tell how the photos will print on the specific paper they use? Also, what print resolution should the photos be set to? Is 180 dpi enough? Thanks in advance.

Second - I suspect you will be disappointed. Based on reports on these forums almost everyone who uses iPhoto exclusively to preprocess photos is extremely happy with the results. very often people you over process their photos using a third party program (including Lightroom, Photoshop, etc) are unhappy because the printing process is optimized for point and shoot cameras and iPhoto processing - it is NOT a professional desktop book process
There are no options re color correction - it is built in again aimed at sRGB, point and shoot cameras and iPhoto processing
Plus there have been reported incompatibilities between iPhoto and Lightroom
The print resolution is what it is - if it will be less than 180 dpi you will get a waarning - it can be greater

I'm unsure about how to approach sharpening of individual photos for my photo books. Here's the workflow I follow to print books at Shared Ink:
Import RAW images into Lightroom 2.
Color Correct/Sharpen images within the Develop Module
Export RAW images as Tiffs at max res and import into an InDesign template created by me. Inside of InDesign I resize photos to the desired size.
Create a PDF of the book and then convert PDFs to JPGS to be uploaded to Shared Ink. (They only accept JPGS from a program like InDesign.)
Here are my questions:
In step 3, when I export RAW images as Tiffs to place into InDesgin, what sort of Export Sharpening should I be using? LR has matte and Glossy, and then 3 strengths of sharpening. I generally print on matte paper so I know I could use matte.
When I finally decide on the size of my images within InDesign, do I need to re-export each image from Lightroom at the correct size? I normally include 100s of images in my books and it would take quite a while to do this.

For the test, I would do a page or two each way. I think you will find that you can't tell a material difference and thus you can quit thinking about how time consuming it would be (and it would be horrendous in my opinion). So maybe your test is on 12x12 pages with a background image and three small images on top, one greater than original, one at original and one smaller than original. Then make a separate page for the following samples:
1. Export the 4 images from LR with no output sharpening at original size.
2. Export the 4 images from LR with Matt, Standard output sharpening at original size.
3. Export the 4 images from LR with Matt, Low output sharpening at original size.
4. Export the 4 images from LR with no output sharpening at approximately the sizes for the sample page (then use them at exactly the exported size).
5. Export the 4 images from LR with Matt, Standard output sharpening at approximately the sizes for the sample page (then use them at exactly the exported size).
6. Export the 4 images from LR with Matt, Low output sharpening at approximately the sizes for the sample page (then use them at exactly the exported size).
This should give you a good idea as to whether output sharpening has a material impact on books printed from SharedInk. It may not be a good test for other printing but that's OK. The idea is to find out what is best for this particular book process for YOU.

Have problem to order copies of the Book just completed in iPhoto
My first venture at making a book in iPhoto with family pictures, has, once I understood the practical business of getting pictures organised, been very successful, so I clicked on the "Buy" button and thereafter my efforts to order 3 copies of the book have failed miserably.
Problem is related to my address. I have lived in France for over 20 years, and although my Mac language and software is predominately English, thought my order would go to Apple France, however I was presented with an address format which explicitely stated "United Kingdom" and would not recognise French postal codes, for the "ship to" address. I couldn't find an alternative, so I had to give up. There doesn't seem to be a way to change from the UK system. The cost is in Sterling, which is not a problem, but delivery from the UK is likely to be several days longer than from within France.
If all Book processing for Europe is done in the UK, that's fine, but it would help if the system recognised French postal code formats and the my address did not have 'United Kingdom' as a fixture.
I have probably missed some instruction in the system, but I would appreciate help as to what to do next. (I would rather not have to start again sorting pictures)

IPhoto Stops responding when assembling new book
I've been trying to buy a book on iPhoto but it keeps freezing out every time. This is a 50 page photo book, and after I click on the "Buy Book" button, the "Assembling Book" process starts, but after no more than 7 pages out of 50 of "Assembling", iPhoto simply freezes and stops functioning, I've had to Force Quit iPhoto every time because it simply doesn't work further than the 7th page. I've restarted my computer a couple of times, I've tried connecting through WiFi and wired connection and still, my book will simply not go through. Is there a problem on Apple's side, is it something on my book or my computer ? Thanks for the comments and help.

Location of Book folder after creation of Book for validation
As part of the Print Book process in A3 one can request that a softcopy of the book is made available for inspection. This is viewed automatically by Preview.
If one asks to Save AS the file one sees that the file is in a folder called Book with a name that starts fstpBook.....
Where is this folder located? - I have used Tinkertools to make invisble items on the drive visible but cannot seee the folder or the pdf file.
Of course I can complete the Save As process to save the file to a known directory - but I would like to know where Aperture puts the file
Thanks for any infoI've just had this. The dropbox preferences are in a hidden directory (.dropbox) in your home folder. Delete that and it should start up as it would with a clean install.
To do this:
Open terminal
run 'sudo rm -r .dropbox'
enter your password
That *should* sort it. I'd renamed my home directory and this messed it up, before I did the steps above I created an alias to my new location that matched to old name, I'm not sure if this is needed but worth a try if the above doesn't sort it.. -
Last night I wanted to order a book (3 copies, actually). I thought it might be better to do this before upgrading to 1.5, but when I started the "Buy Book" process, Aperture put up a window with a strong recommendation to upgrade BEFORE ordering. OK - they probably know something I don't, I figured, so I did the upgrade. Aperture 1.5 started up and seemed to be acting normally, so I reviewed the book to make sure it didn't get munged in the library conversion. It looked fine, so I (finally) clicked on "Buy Book" again. After spending several minutes assembling the book, I was presented with an alert box:
Unable to authenticate user.
This user could not be authenticated.
I tried contacting [email protected] and they blew me off with the excuse that they did not answer "technical" questions. They recommended I sift through the Aperture support site, and if that didn't work, to call "XXlocal_phone_numberXX". If they are going to respond with form letters, I think they ought to fill in the blanks first.
Fortunately, I had a backup plan. I kept a 1.1 version of the library and used 1.1 on my PowerBook to order.
Anyway - does anybody have a workaround or solution to this problem? Thanks.
PowerMac G5 2 x 2.3 GHz Mac OS X (10.4.7)I finally got an "answer" from Apple on this one. I find it surprising that they would not want to help me with a problem that prevents me from ordering prints or books under Aperture 1.5, because I've spent over $1000 this year on such orders.
What I received from Apple shows a very dim understanding of the problem, especially when one considers the fact that print and book ordering was working fine under 1.1.

Setup Bank Statement Processing for Belgium
Hi,
I need help with the setup of Bank Statement Processing for a Belgian system in version 8.8 (pl 16). This is an upgrade from 2005A.
We installed the BTHF add-on and weu2019ve checked u201CInstall Bank Statement Processingu201D in the company details.
Banks and house banks (2 banks) are set up according to the Belgian values to validate bank account data.
However when I go to u201CBank Statement Processingu201D and select Country u201CBelgiumu201D I donu2019t see (let alone can select) the house banks that I set up.
It almost seems like thereu2019s another table that needs to be adjusted, but I have no clue where that could be.
Any ideas?

Steps to Reconciliation Bank Statement
1) Select Review & Install Bank Statement Processing form to detail in business.
2) Fill the informaion bank on the same window.
3.After the need BTHF installed add-on add-on window management for the activation of the Import option on the bank statement process form (in banking module.
4.Need to FD (Definination format) install of the same form by using this add-on, we make banking format (Indian Bank in the SAP format.
Made using this format, then it should assign bank account level house.

If we import into SAP bank statement, if any open party invoive either A / P or A / R should reflect it to produce incoming and outgoing payments. Have assigned its totally dependent on what kind of accounting method users.
Then customize SAP users or to reconcile all bank transaction. When the user double-clicks on row then new windows to open again for the setting.

Time booking - costs going against a wrong Cost center
Hi All,
Please help...
A person has been assigned to a Cost center, yet when booking time on CATS, the system pulls through and charges against a wrong cost center.
Initially I thot it was the network activity pulling thru the cost center, but that is not the case.
Where can I look to see why it reflects and chages the wrong cost center?

Check the Organizational assignment infotype for that person in PA30 transaction or ask your HR consultant to check the assignment for the employee. This should solve your issue.
In case this does not solve the issue please explain the issue in detail viz., the time booking process you follow etc..
