Book Store Icons

I downloaded The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins from the book store onto my iPad 2, (free download). Some days after it had downloaded, its icon has turned from the pleasantly simple generic free book download cover to a text-free image that looks like an old Aqua Apple desktop computer - or perhaps a blue smartphone - with a small screen and three oval buttons below. Deleting the book and re-downloading makes no difference. In the old days on a Mac I would have rebuilt the desktop file. Anyone know what might be causing this and/or how to fix? The book works fine otherwise, by the way, but looks pretty weird on the shelves! Thank you.

Don't know why the icon changed but all my drm-free/public domain books have that "blue smarthphone" as icon in iBooks. I guess it becomes the cover photo in the epub-file when the ebook has no own cover photo?
It might be too much work to only change the cover photo and there might be better ways but what you could do on your PC (don't know if it works for Mac too) if the epub is drm-free :
get calibre (free epub managing software)
add the ebook from your iTunes library to the calibre library
change the cover photo via "edit metadata" in calibre (it even can automatically download something fitting from the internet or you choose a file from your PC)
convert the epub in calibre to epub again (only to make that photo change lasting)
re-add the epub to your iTunes library
delete the old file from your iTunes library (maybe you better delete the old file before re-adding if iTunes will not add it again or to avoid duplicates or to avoid deleting the wrong file)
sync it to your iPad (I hope it recognizes that the file changed and syncs it; if not, delete the book from iBooks and sync again)

Recently both the Yahoo! Toolbar extension and the Babylon extension have been reported to cause an issue like that. Disable or uninstall those add-ons.

If you place your finger inbetween the search bar at the top and the keyboard at the bottom and slide your finder downwards it should hide the keyboard and make the icons at the bottom reappear

Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

App Store icons at top Not Active

After updating my 15 inch mac Book Pro mid 2009, the app store icons at the top of the window are inactive. I can still 'tab' between the different sections with command-1,command-2. The icons are grayed out like the window is not selected, however all the other window controls and content are active. Puzzeled on this one.

Would you post a screen shot of a message so people can see what you are seeing? Make sure you cover any personal information using Preview. Post the screen shot in a Reply using the camera icon. Copy and paste doesn't work.

App Store icon went missing!

I restored my iPad2 yesterday, and the Apps Store icon was there. Then I synced all the apps, music, books, and re-arranged the icons through iTunes, placing the App Store icon in the main "dock". But now, the icon went missing... Any ideas what might have happened? I haven't tried syncing it again...

Duh....... It's kind of embarrasing..... I got it back..... I had placed a restriction on purchasing and deleting Apps (in the General Settings), so that made the icon "disappear".... Must be the "blonde" in me!!! ;P

Book mark icon in Adhoc query?

There is an Adhoc query created by the end user.The book mark icon available is not working but the CONTEXT MENU on any of the values is producing the book mark properly.Can just any one help me to find the solution of this?

then there seems to be some issue with your ad-hoc template - was it modified in any way ? that could be causing this issue. If the temnplate was not modified then reactivate the same from business content and check.
The ad-hoc template depends on your BI version. Which version of BI are you on ?

I have an iPad mini, 16GB, running on the 7.1.2 iOS system, my App Store icon is no longer on my home screen and neither is my iTunes Store icon. They are listed in my settings but I can't access any unless through other games, or songs on iPad.

I Have an iPad mini operating on 7.1.2 iOS. My App Store icon as well as my iTunes Store icon are missing from my home scree. They are still listed under my settings, but I can't access them unless it's through an app that already exists. Where can I go to reinstall these? I use the same Apple ID on my iPhone 5c as well and they are on the iPhone, but I don't know how or why they just disappeared from my iPad and want to know how to get them back without having to reset my iPad and lose what I have on it. I downloaded IOS6 and all my apps, including the App Store icon, disappeared. If I go to the Passport icon, there is an App Store button, but I have to search through all the apps to find the one I want and then click on "Open" to use it. Help!

There doesn't seem to be a way to delete the app and start over.

It sounds like the application you are looking for is indeed still on your iPhone. You can confirm this by searching in the Spotlight Search for this application. It may have accidentally been moved to a folder, or an additional Home screen:

How do you remove the "purchased" items in the "not on this iPhone" tab in the app store icon?

I want to permanently remove old deleted apps from the "purchased" list in the update section of the app store icon on my iPhone. These are apps that I tried and didn't like or didn't work or were useless or whatever. There does not seem to be any logical reason to keep a record or history of them around since they would not have been deleted if I still wanted them. This is a waste of resources on the iPhone, iTunes and my efforts.

You cannot.

It is a history of ALL purchases.
People would be complaining that they mistakenly deleted it and now could never get their app back. The entire point is to have access to any and all past purchases.
Maybe when the final product is released you will get your wish.

Default apps are part of the iOS and cannot be deleted. Search all home screens and all folders and/or search for it with Spotlight, that will tell you what folder it's in.
Also check Settings > General > Restrictions to see if it has been restricted.
If not found, Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout.

How do I remove red dot update from App Store icon

I just updated nine iPhone apps via iTunes during a recent sync of my iPhone (5s OSv8.1.2). Update and sync both went fine without a hitch. However, the App Store icon on my iPhone still has a red notification dot with a number 9. I've gone into the app, selected Updates, and noticed that all nine apps are listed there with an "Open" box next to them. I've opened each app and each works fine. I've powered off the phone; same problem.

Hello, I finally went to the App Store support who rang me back and went through it. It seems that Mountain Lion will not operate iPhoto 9.3.2, you have to have 9.4.2. So trashed the application in my Applications folder (which has cleared my App Store of the hanging iPhoto updater) and they signposted me to the download for 9.4.2 (mind you it is taking hours to download!!) I live in hope that this will fix it. If it doesn't I'll let you know!

Hi, on my iPhone 4S i have upgrade without problems to iOs7.
Today, i have try to install Twitter via the Settings panel but nothings append except a "special grey icon" on desktop... i have try ton find the App Store icon but there is no App Store Icon !!!
so i can't install any app... i have upgrade other apps since i'm on iOS7 but when i have click on "install" twitter in settings panel th App Store icon disappear. I have reboot 3 times nothing....
is there somebody have an idea ? it semms to be a BUG from th settings panel when you want to install twitter....

Try spotlight searching it:
- on your homescreen drag your finger down the screen
- type in "App Store" in the search bar
If the App Store still does not show make sure you have not got restrictions enabled on it.
- go to settings>general>restrictions
- make sure installing apps is "On"
