Bookmark / return to where user left off tracker -- Flash 8?

Is there a template or plug in that anyone is aware of that is written in Flash 8 that keeps track ("bookmark of sort") of where a user left off on a .swf or .htm tutorial that includes:
The user must be able to leave a .swf or .htm tutorial and return to it later if necessary, “bookmark” their place – it does not have to be completed at one sitting.
For reference and viewing purposes, the user must be able to go back into the .swf or .htm tutorial once successfully completing it.
The .swf or .htm tutorials must have a mechanism for keeping track of user progress and completion.  It must provide reports on user status and who has successfully completed the tutorial.

you'll need to build that yourself.  you can use the flash sharedobject unless you need to store user progress in a central (server-based) database.

If you 6 menu buttons are pointing to Tracks then select the Track and in the property inpector you can set the Menu Remote Control options. Set Menu to the button on the menu you want to jump to.
You can set this option individually for chapters in a Track also so,

  • My ipod is no longer keeping my tv shows in order, or returning to where i left off when watching an episode.  Anyone have a problem like this?

My ipod is no longer keeping my tv shows in order, or returning to where i left off when watching an episode.
I have deleted them and re-added from my computer.  On my computer, when plugged into Itunes,
they show as in order by air date--on my ipod, they are random.  Also, my shows are not
restarting where I last left off--they are going back to the beginning, so I have to fast forward!
Very frustrating!  Anyone have a problem like this?

  • How can I return to where I left off on a menu?

I have a menu with 6 items in it. When you select each item you are taken to that page and then you click on the return to menu button and are taken to the number 1 item on the list each time you return to the list.
I want to come back to where I left off in the menu rather then starting over each time. So, if I am on list item #2 and come back to menu I want to come back to list item #2 to navigate down to item #3 or even come back to list item #3. I do not want to came back to list item #1 everytime and then have to scroll down farther each time.
Any help in the right direction?

  • Return to where I left off on a song...

I listen to a lot of long mixes on my iPhone. Is there a way to pickup a song where I left off so I wouldn't have to start at the beginning of the song when I decide to come back to it?

In iTunes, right-click any song, select "Get Info", under "Options", "Remember Playback Position". You can batch change them all, in iTunes, if you like. No way to do this on the phone.

  • How can I bookmark, in iTunes, so that the songs I play and then stop in middle of song then come back later - it will start where I left off.  What is the switch in iTunes to make this happen?  Thank You

In iTunes I would like to set it to bookmark where I am holding in a song on my iPOD.  Let's say I want to play a song that I listen to yesterday and stopped playing it in the middle on my iPOD.  Today, I want to listen, on my iPOD, to the same song and have it start playing where I left off yesterday.
Can someone please tell me what I have to do in iTUNES to have this feature on my iPOD?
    Thank You
    Dovid

iTunes does not have provision for automatically storing one kind of media on a separate drive, so you have some basic decisions to make first.  Do you want these movies to still appear in your iTunes library, or are you content with browsing filenames on a drive in Finder when you want to look for one?  The second's the easiest thing because then you don't have to have an external drive permanently turned on and attached to your computer (wired or wireless).  To do that you literelly only need to drag your movies folder to an archive drive and delete movies from iTunes.  To watch them again you can add it back to iTunes while holding down the option key so the movie is used from its location on the external drive.
There's ways to move the movies to an external drive while keeping them in iTunes but the external drive iwll always have to be turned on and connected to the computer or you will see a bunch of broken link exclamation marks.
Realize what you are talking about is not "backup".  Backup (which you should do) is putting a second or more copy of items on external drives for the day when your internal drive fails and everything on it is lost, inclduing all your home photos and perhaps things that have been pulled from the iTunes Store and can no longer be re-downloaded.

  • I have thousands of photos.  When I select a photo and edit it I want to return to the Organizer where I left off.  I don't want to go to the most recent photo and have to find my way back to where I was.  Is there a way to make this happen?

When I am in the Organizer and edit a photo I want to return to the Organizer where I left off.  I don't see that as an option--it always returns me to the most recent photo.  Is there a fix?  Thank you.

    Art,
I am trying to follow your very precise steps, and in my case (PSE11 also, Win7), the focus stays on the edited picture after I return from the editor to the Organizer. I am pretty sure that in the previous post describing your situation, I was able to reproduce the problem, but I don't remember on which version. I just tried in 'Folders' view mode to edit in a selected folder, then I clicked 'All media' so that no folder was selected. Same result in both cases.
Even if you prefer to work in folders view, you could take advantage of the ability to use 'albums'. It's a misleading word to describe a selection, a 'collection' of pictures, which you can sort as you want. It's a kind of  'playlist' like with music items. In the organizer, you can select a folder and create an album (even a temporary one) just by choosing 'create instant album'. Suppose you have made an album from a folder or a selection of highlighted pictures to edit. You can order them in date order, import batch or 'custom' order'. Since PSE12 you can also sort them in filename order. You should never lose the 'focus' on your last edited picture when coming back from the editor to the organizer. If the purpose of that album is only to help in organizing an editing session, you simply delete the album (the playlist) if you don't want to keep the list afterward.
I hope someone will be able to confirm how that can happen...
    Edit;
I have just read Brian's post.
    That may be the difference...

    Hello,
is there a way presenter remember when the user left off in the side?
Example: user watching the presenter and they didn't finish the whole presentation.
When they launch the presenter again, would the presenter remember where they left off.
I see this feature on articulate presenter.
Can some one advice on this?

    Hello JR -
The following is a link to a thread about inactive vs active sessions.
    Re: Active vs Inactive Sessions
While you are not interested in if the session is active or not, you are interested in if the session has ever been. You may be able to modify the queries in the above thread to detect if the user has ever logged in historically.

  • Going back to where I left off in a document

I am an old Pocket PC user so please bare with me.  I have some stories and books that I have as Word doc files.  With my old Pocket PC I could turn the unit off any where in the document and turn it back on, open Pocket Word and be right back to where I was when I shut down.  Using Quick Office I can go back to where I left off if I just let it go into sleep mode.  If I turn the unit off, for instance over night and go back to Quick Office you end up starting back at the beggining of the document and have to find your place again if you can.
Is there a way to save or tag where you finished reading so that you can return to it?
Would the Kindle app or something like allow me to do that?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Joe

You can save the document in Quick Office by clicking on the return arrow on the device. The following options will appear:
    1. Discard
    2. Save
    3. Save As
    4. Cancel

  • Does the iPhone remember where you left off in podcasts?  What's the latest

The music player in my Nokia phone only remembers where you left off for the last track-- switch tracks or turn off the phone and it returns you to the beginning of the track! It's absolutely annoying and renders the podcast playing feature almost useless.
I've been looking at the iPhone and iPod Touch and found a bunch of threads in the forums that indicate that both have had similar problems (though there are some workarounds).
Has Apple fixed this? Do the iPhone and iPod Touch now remember where you left off for EACH podcast you were listening to?
It would be wonderful if that were the case and might stop my fence sitting on buying one!

I've had my iPhone for several months and this is the most aggravating issue. Before finding this thread I had no idea why or when it would lose it's place. If it's only happening when you synch that's good to know, but not much of a work-around.
Where the iPhone had my old iPod beat was the fact that my podcasts were always magically up to date. This is because the iPhone is always getting plugged in to charge and synch while the iPod stayed in the car all week.
I hope someone will post back with more details for work-arounds.
Better yet, I hope Apple fixes this bug. AND, makes navigating within long audio files (i.e. podcasts) as elegant as it was on my old clickwheel iPod.

  • If I'm reading a book on the iPhone and I want to pick up where I left off on my iPad, do I have to search for what page I was on on the iPad or is there a way to sync it?

If I'm reading a book on the iPhone and I want to pick up where I left off on my iPad, do I have to search for what page I was on on the iPad or is there a way to sync it? Or do I just have to search for a string of text from my iPhone on my iPad?

On both devices go to Settings>iBooks>Sync Bookmarks>On. Then when you want to quit reading on one device, tap the bookmark in the upper right corner and it will turn red. That marks your place. Close the book on the device now by tapping on the Library button in the upper left corner of the app. That will put the closed book back on the shelf. Tap the home button.
On the other device, when you tap on the book, it should open to that page. You have to be connected to WiFi in order for this to work. You can read this older discussion for more information. I was involved in that as well.

  • HT5544 Can iBooks remember my page between devices? Can I pick up where I left off on my iPad with my iPhone?

With Kindle and the Kindle app, if I change devices I am asked if I want to resume reading where I left off on <device> at <date and time>. I was trying to continue reading on my phone where I left off on my iPad. I have been unable to do this. Is it possible? I will decide which service to use for my next book purchase (the cost is the same on both Kindle and iBooks).

You should be able do it with iBooks - go into Settings > iBooks on both devices and set Sync Bookmarks 'on'

  • Zen Xtra no longer remembers where I left off in a tr

    Hi,
I downloaded and installed the most recent drivers and firmware for my Zen Xtra, and now it doesn't remember where I left off in a track. I listen to long audiobooks in my car so this is very important.
I used to be able to power down and then when I came back to my car I could just turn it back on and pick up where I left off. Now it always goes back to where I left off many sessions ago, no matter how much I have played since then. In one particular audio book it always goes back to 2:59:0 or something, which is where I left off many many sessions ago.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    chris.

Both my 1st and 3rd generation models still work with resume, as does my 2nd generation models.
You are not on your own though, as others have reported similar issues. As yet I haven't seen a solution, but wonder what happens if you hold down the centre button and mark the movie as watched or unwatched and then try again.

  • Audiobooks wont "start from where I left off" after 3GS upgrade to OS4

    Hi All,
I am having a bit of a problem with my 3GS iPhone that is running OS4. When listening to an audiobook, if I stop listening to the book, and instead watch a movie, listen to a song, or another book, my place in that original book is lost.
The bookmark is kept if I stop the book and later come back- but if I do anything else in the iPOD, the bookmark is gone.
It seems as if only 1 bookmark can be stored at any 1 time- whether its a movie, a song, or an audiobook..
Previous versions of the software never had this limitation, so I am suspecting that this is a bug.
(yes, I have the 'start playing where i left off' selected in the setting menu)

I have the same issue, but I'm listening only to one audiobook at a time, I do not switch between Audiobooks and videos.
Usually I plug my iPhone (3GS) into my car cradle and select the Audiobook via the car stereo iPod interface. It happens very often that the book starts from the beginning when I do it that way. What I usually do is, that I start playing the Audiobook from the iPhone and plug the phone into the cradle afterwards. This works most of the times. Additionally I make a screenshot of the iPod app after leaving my car, so I have a "Backup" of the last playback position.
The bad thing is, that it was working perfectly with iOS 4.0.1 and 4.0.2, in iOS 4.1 it starts to become crappy.
I had the same issue on my iPhone 3G ever since.
    Regards,
    Frank
