Bookmarks panel is broken, how to fix?

After I've restarted my FireFox the bookmarks panel appears to be broken: it doesnt contain anything and I can't drag and drop something on it. There's some screenshots:

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

Access Panel Latch Broken - How to Open Case?

The side panel latch on my MacPro no longer functions. It seems as if it is stuck, or a part of the linkage is bent or loose.
Does anyone know of a workaround or trick to get the side panel open so I can see what is wrong with the linkage, and more importantly, get to the internals of the computer.

It may require a wire that is stiffer than a straightened paperclip (the usual solution for everything).
If required, I suggest a straightened wire coat hanger (but cut the wiggly end off the get a straight stiff wire.)

NMAS installed but broken, how to fix?

Hi,
I had a user mention that his password suddenly stopped being case sensitive. I looked at his workstation (XP running client 4.9.1 SP5 IR1) and noticed the "Did you forget your password?" link was missing on the initial login screen, along with the NMAS tab when I clicked Advanced.
The IR2 client had just become available, so the first thing I tried was installing that over the top. No change.
I went to check the Location Profile (only Default exists) to make sure the NMAS tab is enabled. It is, but that screen also says "NMAS client version: (unknown)".
I went to a command prompt and ran "ncc.exe -i". The response was version 3.4.5.0 is installed.
I went to Add Remove Programs and verified NMAS Client and Challenge Response Method are listed. They are. On the NMAS client I clicked the link for Support Information, and then the Repair button. No change.
A side note, that Support Information window lists the version as 3.4.3.0. But it shows that on a correctly working IR2 client, so have to assume that was just an oversight by the developers and not related to this problem.
Anyway, I am not sure what to try next. Would doing an NMAS client trace offer any help? Are there specific files or registry keys I can compare against a working machine? Do I need to do a complete uninstall, and if so, is there a specific order to follow, and would I have to manually clean up said files or registry keys?

The re-install over the top did not help.
After that I did try a complete un and re-install. NMAS was happy until I ran AutoLogon to automate local Windows authentication, and that is when I found the root of the problem.
My predecessor was using an old version of AutoLogon (3.0.1.1). I ran it and had it disable itself, and NMAS was happy again.
I found a new version of AutoLogon (3.0.1.3). Applied that and NMAS was still happy afterward.

Does the sidebar open correctly if you use View > Sidebar?

There aren't any extensions listed in the System Details List that could cause this, so I'm not sure why this would happen.

Are you sure that you aren't opening a specific bookmark in the sidebar?
Opening in the sidebar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website. 
You can check the properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the sidebar (Ctrl+B; Command+B on Mac). 
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I have had exactly the same problem now with two mini iPads. Everything was tried; 1) restarting; 2) restoring factory settings etc. NONE worked. Eventually Apple agreed to replace it. I have had the replacement now for two to three months and exactly the same thing is happening again. So off to Apple tomorrow to get another replacement.
I am quite a heavy user of the iPad so wonder if this is something to do with the fault.
It is so frustrating as sometimes reset works, and then after 10/20/30/40 minutes (you pick) it goes unstable again.

i have that same issue, i recently had my ipod sent off to apple and they sent me a refurbished ipod, all was great till i discovered that my home button was not very responsive like it should be. If you have any luck finding out how to fix this problem will you please pass on the information. And i will do the same as to how to fix the issue and passing along the information

How to decrease width of the dropdown bookmark panel (FF 11)?
This panel is too wide and covers too much space in underlying windows. The book marks text should not be truncated but some way needs to be found to allow the entire text of any line to be viewed when the cursor lands on it. Much of the information in "HELP" related to this question turns out to be very very old (essentially meaningless in 2012).

My bookmarks truncate, but only after many, many characters. Then you can view the full title, as well as the URL, in the mouseover tooltip.
To narrow the width of the bookmark menus:
(1) There might be an existing add-on targeted to this; I didn't search.
(2) You could create a custom style rule. One way to do this is to use the Stylish extension and add the following userstyle (create a blank rule first):
 @namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);
#bookmarksMenu menupopup {max-width:15em;}
That works in my test, but you can tweak that maximum width to suit your needs. (1 "em" is about 16 pixels). Stylish can be installed from here: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/ Stylish :: Add-ons for Firefox].
(3) You could create a custom style rule in the file userChrome.css, which you can add to your personal Firefox profile. I didn't test it.

1 Bookmark of 100 others opens in the bookmark panel - fix ?

Using XP SP-3 with FF 30 now - After 29.0 update - when I click on one of my most used bookmarks - it opens in the bookmark panel unless I right click it to open in new tab or new window. If it opens in a new Window it opens in the proper way - No other bookmarks of 100+ do this - The Same bookmark does not open in another panel on other computer with Windows XP Pro and also 30.0. Very easy. That means you have a "no layer thumbnails" option selected.
Go into the Layers Panel menu at the upper right of the Panel, choose Panel Options and you will see Thumbnail sizes to choose from.
Select one, click OK.

I am having the SAME exact problem! Except instead of lock button broken it's my home button so I can't do the whole "put in recovery mode" deal. My screen only says "tap the home button 3 times" and it has my screen locked until I hit the home button but since it is broken I can't get in my phone at all. I have all of my work info in my phone so I'm screwed and can't get any help. PLEASE let me know if you find a way around this...!!!
