Boot Camp 1.1.1 & SATA issue

Last night, I installed Boot Camp 1.1.1 (released 9/14)
Today, per someone's suggestion, I downloaded HD Tune (hdtune.com) and ran it while I played Serious Sam Second Encounter. Here are the results - maybe someone who knows more about this stuff than I do can conclude whether the SATA issue is fixed or not from these results...
Minimum transfer rate: 0.5 MB/sec
Maximum transfer rate: 3.7 MB/sec
Average transfer rate: 2.8 MB/sec
Access Time: 20.4 ms
Burst Rate: 3.5 MB/sec
CPU usage: 24%

There is no Bootcamp fix, however you could create a
new windows disk using your old one and place the
SATA drivers you need to be installed. this forces
windows to use the SATA drivers and you can get up to
58mb/sec.
There is a post about how do do this in this forum >
Mac Pro some where but it is a time consuming
process. 3h of prep and learning to use certian
programs and another hour to install. Also you must
have access to a windows machine, which could be your
bootcamp "crippled" version of windows on you mac
pro.
Good luck to you.
I don't understand why one needs to use a Slipstreamed CD?
Why can't one update the drivers once XP is installed and running?

  • BSOD after installing Boot Camp, AMD Radeon 6630M driver issue

I have reinstalled Windows using Boot Camp twice now and get a blue screen right after installing the Boot Camp drivers and restarting.
I am installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my Mac mini 2011 edition. I created an install disk in Lion and used the option to copy the Boot Camp drivers into the disk.
I have narrowed the problem down to Apple's driver for the AMD Radeon 6630M graphics which my Mac mini has. The driver will install without errors but then the blue screen appears on next startup. If I use safe mode to uninstall the AMD driver, the blue screen goes away, but the display resolution is very low.
I checked for driver updates from AMD, but there are none for the 6630M.
    Anyone else having this issue?

    Hi,
I have installed Windows using Boot Camp and I also get the blue screen of death right after installing the Boot Camp drivers and restarting.
I am installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on a i7 Mac mini 2011 edition. I created the USB install thumb within Lion's Boot Camp, and got downloaded the latest Bootcamp drivers (bootcamp 4.0). I connect the mac mini to a 24" iiyama screen with a HDMI cable. I don't have a DVI cable anymore unless i would have checked that point too.
I have also narrowed the problem down to Apple's driver for the AMD Radeon 6630M graphics which my Mac mini also has. The driver will install without errors but then the blue screen appears on next startup. If I use safe mode to uninstall the AMD driver or renaming the atikmdag.sys file (the main cause of the crash), the blue screen goes away, but the display can't get the effects such as Aero interface.
AMD provides official drivers that don't recognize its own 6630m graphic card with Apple, then doesn't install any up-to-date driver... Only Apple's AtiGraphics setup program will install the drivers...but it makes Windows 7 crash at each boot.
Thanks for your technical skills or info to come over this issue (or releasing a bootcamp update ?)

  • Boot Camp WinXP on MBP, Wifi Issues.

    Hey,
So I've had Windows XP SP3 on my Macbook Pro 15" for a bit over a month now, but I still have this issue - At random times, Windows will disconnect me from the wireless network. This is extremely annoying to me, I am a bit of a gamer. My router is an Airport Extreme, and there is an Airport Express between me and it. I've tried eliminating sources of interference between the router and I, such as cordless phones, microwaves, TVs, other users, etc - but nothing seems to fix it.
I've tried this too - leaving my iTouch on & connected, and when windows disconnects, I load a page on the iPod, to see if it is a network issue, which it never is.
Curiously enough, when I am booted in Leopard, there are absolutely NO issues.
Is this another case of Windows-is-terrible? Or is something causing this?
    Thanks,
    Dave

Wow, this is interesting. If you go to the discussions main page, under computer hardware and click MacBook, and then Internet, and Networking the MacBook, you'll find tons of threads of people having the opposite problems. I am one of them. A lot of us have no problems with wireless internet connectivity in Windows on our Boot Camp partitions. However, when booted up in Leopard, internet randomly drops. We usually can temporarily solve the problem by turning airport off and then back on, but soon afterwards, it drops again. Sometimes it drops very soon after that and then other times, internet will stay connected for a bit longer before dropping. Some of us have had our airport card changed but that didn't solve the problem. So we have no idea what's going on here with our laptops. All I know is that Apple seriously needs to get to the bottom of this.

  • Boot Camp 3.1 Sound Quality issues & Sharing Between Mac OS & XP

    Hello all,
I've just recently received my first iMac and I have successfully installed Boot Camp 3.1 with Windows XP running. Everything seems to run very well except two things I would like some clarification & help on please:
(Please note - after strolling through numerous google pages, forums I have yet to find a suitable and logical solution.)
    01. First of all, everything on the Windows XP side is working fine. Although the sound quality is quite hollow/thin with lots of treble. This is very noticeable when compared to the sound being played on Mac OSX. Also, the volume on the windows side is very loud?? I read on this forum that when headphones are plugged in on the windows side, it sounds normal? So I did this and it worked, however, at the moment I'm not in a position to fork out some more money for quality speakers. (although i am drooling over the HK Soundsticks III EU)
Is there a solution for making the sound quality the same as the Mac side? I've also updated to the latest Cirrus Logic Driver and this made no difference?
    02. Again, looking through various forums, including this one, I still have not found a simple solution for sharing my music between Mac OSX & Windows XP. Many of the reported solutions are either extremely complex with various version of how to do it: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2309922&tstart=135 or use an external Hard Drive formatted in FAT32.
I understand that Mac is only able to read the NTFS partitions and not write to them. I am aware of third party software's such as MacDrive but having heard general and corruption issues with such software I am reluctant to use them. Not sure if Paragon NTFS for Mac 8.0 will suffer the same issues as it is a driver rather than a piece of software. Will this work?
I hope you can help. Many thanks in advance!
    Simon

Old post, but for any one else,
If your using external speakers now then they should have the same quality on either OS.
Have you tried going into the "preferences" (or whatever they're called) on Window's and looked at what the sound settings are? I can't remember what they are on my old XP but maybe they just need to be tweaked? I think there is a way to set the loudness, left/right equal, etc, on either the head phones or externals.
    Well, maybe it's that simple......
On the music sharing, I wouldn't know of a way on NTFS to share anything with a Mac (no writing, no sharing). If you have more then one computer, maybe get a NAS (network attached storage), NDAS etc, and just put the library on that and anyone could access it then?
I had this all typed up for a MP and then realized you had an iMac.
Oh well, maybe this will help someone else.
Boot camp will only partition one drive into two area's so the idea won't work on a single drive computer. So it looks like maybe an external storage disk for the music will work.(Maybe use a 3rd party partition-er, but again I don't know if Boot Camp will like it even after the initial install?) And won't work on an external drive (Window's/Boot Camp).
But if you had a second drive (if you had a Mac Pro) you could use for Windows, you could format the full drive as HFS and then have Window's format the XP partition to the size you need for XP (NTFS) and then just leave the rest formatted as HFS and then put the Music you want to share on that partition (HFS) and then the Mac and Window's could share?
I'll be trying this soon my self so we'll see if it works!

  • Boot Camp (and OS X) audio issues

I've had my MacBook Pro (late 2013, Retina display) since November 2013. I installed Windows 7 on a Boot Camp partition at the end of December.
I've noticed that only the high-frequency speakers are outputting when I'm using Windows. I don't normally use the MacBook's speakers (I use headphones outside and my monitors inside). I think my speaker drivers updated recently. A "hardware installed" bubble for my speakers popped up a couple days ago.
I've checked my speaker configuration in Windows and the speakers are indeed in quadraphonic mode. Clicking the Test button triggers all four speakers, but when I apply configuration settings and exit, I don't hear any low frequencies.
Also - all 4 speakers are outputting in OS X, but they tend to distort at higher volumes. I'm a little upset. -Okay, more than a little. This is my first Apple computer. This is supposed to be a very reliable machine, and yet even in OS X I'm getting speaker problems. What can I do to fix all this?
(Side note: in Windows, programs that use ASIO4all only output through the high-frequency speakers, and this has always been the case - as in since before my speakers started going weird.)

    I'm only using stereo signals.
I tried setting my speakers to stereo yesterday. Only the high-frequency speakers make noise if I do.
And as I already said, the low-frequency speakers make noise if I test them in quadraphonic mode in Windows 7.

  • Graphics card issue: works fine when in boot camp but OSX it has issues.

Hey guys. I've had my Macbook pro since 2011 and it used to run games pretty well on it but now it struggles really bad. If I boot into BOOTCAMP and play games it still works fine . Do you guys know what could be the cause of this issue and how do I resolve this?

Already tried that before. I don't even have any software firewall currently active, and the hardware firewall in my router does not block individual applications. It blocks ports instead, by IP address. My Avast AV software does not have anything that blocks applications either, since there is no firewall aspect to it, just the anti-virus software. Likewise, my Spybot S&D has no blocking capability either.
I followed all the steps in the article titled "Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can" when I tried installing v24 and v25 last night, which included the steps from the article you posted above with regards to firewalls, as well as changing proxy settings, disabling IPv6 and DNS Prefetching, and resetting Firefox defaults from the troubleshooting page, which blew out all my settings, and still nothing.
I had tried all the steps I could find on these pages, which is why I thought I would post my issue, since I had run out of ideas. I even took a look at the info about the issue some people are getting where it works for them only if they are moving their mouse, but even moving my mouse didn't get any results for me.

  • Is Apple working on a fix for the Boot Camp on 3TB Fusion Drive issue?

Me and so many others wish to know if Apple is planning to fix this in the future. We just need to know in order to decide if waiting for the fix is an option.
    Kind regards,
    Gornet

We are not Apple. We are users like you. We have no insight into what Apple is working on.

  • Video Issues with Boot Camp / WinXP Pro

    I have a MacPro 2.66, Radeon X1900 with a 23" Cinema HD Display.
The problem I'm running in to was the same one I first experienced when installing XP Pro. No video. There was a video signal to the 23" display, but I got nothing other than a black screen.
I found a solution to use a different monitor, as apparently there are some "issues" with Boot Camp and/or XP Pro and the 23" display.
The install of XP Pro went fine on a different (smaller) monitor. It's the post-install that is not working.
I got XP to boot up once or twice and all seemed to be fine.
Now, when I boot back up in to XP Pro, I get a video signal and can hear XP boot up (Nice cozy XP startup music), but I only get a black monitor screen. No video whatsoever. No posting, no nothing.
Granted, I have not done it yet, but I'm sure I can slap on the smaller tube and get XP to boot.
I'm suspecting a video driver issue with the Radeon X1900 and the 23" display, but was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem and what the solution might be?
I'm probably going to have to wait to see if Boot Camp 1.2 fixes this issue....seeing how there is already an sata issue that needs to be addressed as well.
    Any thoughts?
    Michael

Well, I'm not sure what one should do if another display isn't available. But, I was lucky to have an old 17" Cinema to use instead of the 23" to install drivers with the X1900 card installed.
    I went here...
    https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folder ID=293
... and downloaded their Catalyst Control Center, installed it, and went to "Advanced" to do display discovery. Then I did a full shutdown and restart.
The 23" works now. Though, as others have said, it's black until just before the XP desktop loads (as I assume the drivers load with the desktop).
Aside from it being a pain to get working on XP, the card screams (on both platforms)! There is a slight bit of fan noise which is pretty subtle and only seems to rev on startup/self-test but so far it's definitely worth it. I didn't think it'd be observable outside of 3D apps but with Mac OS GPU acceleration even Tiger seems faster!

  • Apple Store Refuses to Diagnose Hardware Issue after Boot Camp Installed

I previously reported an issue in the Boot Camp Beta forum, but figured I share this with other MBP users as well. After loading the updated firmware, running boot camp to partion my drive, I installed Windows XP Professional. During the install, the screen would go dark, and come back at irregular intervals, as if there was a video sync problem of something. I managed to get XP installed, and booted it and loaded the updated drives from the Boot Camp driver CD which I had earlier created. Subsequent attempt to use the XP installation result in a constantly blank screen, with only occational glitches, as if there is some activity coming out of the GPU, but it's not working correctly.
This is what led me to take my machine to my local (15 miles away) Apple Retail Store (Washington Sqaure, Tigard, Oregon), and attempt to show the problem to a "genius". HOWEVER... As soon as I mentioned "Boot Camp" and XP, they went into the whole "public beta, blah, blah, blah", "not supported", etc. I tried to explain that I was not reporting a SOFTWARE issue with Boot Camp, but rather a HARDWARE ISSUE which is exposed on my machine only after using BOOT CAMP to partition the hard drive, and then installing Windows XP. All I get was "Well, it works fine in OSX, and Boot Camp is Public Beta, so there's nothing we're going to do". Obviously, I'm livid. And, will pursuing any and all avenues to bring this problem to Apple Management attention. First it was Mark Pienpakdee the "genius" who tried to help me, and then I was further rebuked by Mark Macsurak, Assistant Manager. So, I'm left with broken hardware which won't work correctly running Windows, and no recourse until Boot Camp isn't "Public Beta". What a load of crap. I was so mad, I didn't even bother buying the extra AC adapter I was planning on picking up. ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was absolutly shocked that the "genius" didn't react with anything like "wow, what an interesting problem, let's see if we can diagnose it". He didn't even want to see me boot XP to show the problem, only wanted to see that OSX was working normally and send me on my way.
If you have had similar problem at the Washington Square store in Oregon, be sure to let them know by sending e-mail to [email protected], I know I will...
    Eric

If you are going to send an e-mail you should send it to [email protected] However, nobody from Apple is going to send you a response. The Software is Beta which means it is not ready for Prime Time (Also that means that the drivers are beta too). Plus they say before you decide to install any of this in their write ups that they do not and will not provide any support for BootCamp and/or Windows. So they are right not to do anything if the computer works like it is supposed to under OS 10.4.6. Now they might take a look at somethings when OS 10.5 comes out if it has BootCamp in it. They may have something similiar in it, or it might be a perfected BootCamp. However, I doubt that they will ever provide any support for Windows. There has been some talk that Microsoft is looking into supporting Windows on the MAC. However, as far as I have heard no decision on that has come out as of yet.

  • MacBook Pro Boot Camp Underscan Issue

    Hello,
I have a Late 2011 MacBook Pro with an Intel Core i7 2.5GHz processor and AMD Radeon 6770M and Intel HD Graphics 3000 for graphics processing.  Right now my issue is that when I boot my MacBook Pro into Windows 7 with Boot Camp I get an underscan issue with an HDMI connection.  I have it connected to a Dell S2440L through a DVI to HDMI cable connected to the Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter.  The image on the Dell monitor is that it is surrounded by a black border and I can't find a way to adjust the underscan settings in Windows 7.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks for helping.

Since Windows uses the 9600M GT the power-draw (wattage) on the battery is alot higher. But even when both OS X and Windows use the same graphic OS X draws less minimum wattage.
XP is a special problem, because the NVidia drivers seem to have a bug that keeps them from clocking down the graphic-card in 2D and make the GPU run at full speed all the time. This does not happen on Vista though.

  • Installing Boot Camp 3.0

    Hi there.
I installed a 32bit Windows 7 Ultimate on my Mac book using boot camp.  I downloaded BootCamp 3.2 and asked me to install 3.1.  I also downloaded that but now it is telling me to install 3.0.
I am new to all this, and never used Boot Camp with regards to certain issues like these.  I am trying to find boot camp 3.0 but i havent managed.
What can i do please?  As if it really fixes issues with the track pad and other issues (like if i mute my sount in OS X, once i start windows, there is no chance for me to have sound - even if the icon shows it is not muted).  So if these really work, i would like to install these updates.
    thanks

You didn't read the 30 page guide in Boot Camp Assistant.
You can find that and other support articles here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
3.0 is on your OS X DVD. After Windows is installed, insert DVD, run Setup.exe and afterwards you will have Apple Software Update in windows and / or you can install 3.1 and follow up with 3.2

  • Boot Camp doesn't detect keyboard

    Here's what happens:
I start the Boot Camp assistant. It downloads the latest software from Apple, creates the driver disc (successfully). It then asks to reboot, which I do. Upon reboot, I am presented with a black screen asking me what CD option I'd like to select. There are only two choices (1 or 2). At this point, the keyboard does not respond to anything. I unplugged all other USB devices, and even tried changing the keyboard to a standard PC one. No dice. I deleted/recreated the Boot Camp partition twice and the issue persists. Also, I tried a different Windows DVD to rule that out. Same issue everytime.
I did some googling around and haven't found anything of use. I am running 10.7.3. Any suggestions?

It really does help when you show what model/year in you profile.
You don't seem to want to give the option descriptions so can't help you anymore then this. Not sure if this will help as I can't seem to find it again,
I seem to remember that you have to hit one of the options immediately after the window comes up as the keyboard/mouse will loose the connection soon after.
You are using a USB wired mouse/keyboard right?

    Dear All,

You are not addressing Apple, but a community of unpaid volunteers. So ASAP won't cut it. Also, you should refrain from posting personal information (like your email address) in the body of your comments, as this is part of the community usage guidelines.
Have you reinstalled the latest Boot Camp Windows 7 drivers, just in case Microsoft overwrote some of them during the Windows 7 security update?

NO.... he has a workstation, and not MBP, nor are "drivers already loaded."
    How I would proceed -
Install Windows on its own drive.
    Pull all the other drives.
Boot from Windows 7 Pro DVD
Forget Boot Camp Assistant, it doesn't do anything - unless you really want to install Windows on the SAME drive as Mac OS - not ideal and not what most of Mac Pro owners do.
Just insert your OS X DVD once Windows is up to date - helps to buy the SP1 OEM version $129.
Run Apple SETUP.exe (Boot Camp 3.0.x drivers) and update with ASU or manually to 3.2.
No you don't need to go back and use that ATI. And you dont' want to be in the situation of changing from ATI to Nvidia and all the hassle that adds. you are fine.
The Mac Pro is as close as anything to a standard Wintel workstation.
Add MS Security Essentials or KIS or whatever you favor. KIS2011 or NIS2011 are good, MSSE 2.0 is free and based on their enterprise product.

  • Windows 10 + MAC Boot Camp + Yosemite

I know this will be totally unsupported but wanted to know if anyone else is getting the same issues
MAC book pro + Yosemite + Boot Camp + Windows 10
    or
    MAC book pro + Yosemite + Parallels 10 + Windows 10
I keep getting Windows event log warnings = "Event 129, storahci - Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued."
Windows freezes for 5-10 seconds then continues...
Anyone else running Window 10 Preview in Boot Camp and getting the same issues?
The freezing is intermittent and follows no pattern.
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

    Hey,
    Same boat here.
    Mid 2013 rMBP - Yosemite + Bootcamp Windows 10
"Event 129, storahci - Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued." - with System and System Interrupts in task manager sucking up heaps of resources.
Putting the system to sleep and waking it seems to fix the System/Interrupts - but still get the hanging/freezing
    issue.
Watching task manager - the disk usage (active time) goes to 100% (but no read/write)
Guess we await a bootcamp update. From memory - i tried W8.1 in bootcamp again post the Yosemite install and the System/Interrupts issue was still prevalent - so guessing a driver + Firmware conflict or something.
