Bootcamp Error - MacBook Pro 4.1

Hi, All:
I know there have been a lot of Bootcamp questions asked and answered, but after following several suggestions - and continuously hitting wall after wall, I decided to turn to the message board for help.
I originally was given an error using Bootcamp on the laptop I was trying to partition - because a partition already existed (the backup partition that is snuck on there and hidden).  I was able to identify that and Bootcamp ran.
The person whose computer I'm parititoning did not have her OS X cd's anymore so I downloaded the correct additional software to run once I installed Windows 7.  And it didn't work.
The specific error I was given was: "This version of Boot Camp is not intended for this computer model."
So I downloaded another and another and another.  All with the same response.
Versions I have attempted to run include:
4.0.413 , 4.0.425, 4.0.432
All based on suggestions in other forums (and the OS that I'm installing on.)
I'm at a loss - and frankly having problems figuring out the documentation for Bootcamp Assistant.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Bob!
However, I do not have the Snow Leopard installation disk.  Bootcamp Support indicates that you can also download the software necessary (example: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638).
I cannot use the installation disk and therefore need to use the download.  However, the support software download indicated for my OS doesn't seem to be working.

  • My friend was Bootcamping his Macbook Pro halfway when he cancelled it and it refused to boot afterwards.

My friend was Bootcamping his Macbook Pro halfway when he cancelled it due to it running slowly, the Bootcamp Assistant cancelled but the Macbook froze after that and he had to force quit the application. When he restarted the Macbook, it showed the typical white screen and then it switched to a black screen with a underscore at the top left corner. From my experience, it is booting into Windows when it showed the black screen with the underscore and now its kinda stuck and unable to boot into Mac Os X Lion nor Windows 7. Any help for this? And this is a school Macbook with some Master Admin password so it may not be able to enter BIOS but perhaps we can select the boot device. He is screwed if it cannot be fixed :/ Thanks to all who help!

a friend told me that he wants my os x cd for my macbook pro to upgrade his imac.
The discs that come with your Mac are "machine specfic" and cannot be used on another Mac.

  • Problem installing Windows 8 via Bootcamp on MacBook Pro 13 (late 2009).

    Hello,
I've installed Windows 8 Pro on my MacBook Pro 13 (Late 2009) which does not support Windows 8. I've started installing Windows 7 via Bootcamp, then interupted the installation and pluged-in the Windows 8 Disk, and after formating the partition, I've installed Windows 8 64-Bit.
Here is the problem. The Windows works fine, BUT after restart when I hold 'Alt' and choose EFI Boot (Windows 8's partition), Windows 8 starts loading but then suddenly there is a white flash and it restarts again. So after shut down or restart I cannot boot it.
Do you think that this is because I do not have Bootcamp installed on the Windows 8?
I've downloaded the supported software for Windows 8, but when I click setup.exe, it is giving me the following error:
This version of Bootcamp is not intended for this computer model. I've been trying to install it for more than 78 hours, so I'll be extremely gratefull to whoever help me. Thank you in advance.
P.S. Mac OS X partition boots fine.

If it is really not possible, I get it. But there are plenty of people that are running Windows 8 on the same model, that is powerfull enough to run Win 8. I'm actually running it, but until shut down or restart . Can't I edit Info.plst file alternative for Windows 8 like I did to allow BootCamp to image burn my USB on my model? I mean my model is same as the next one. I can't see why the drivers for mid 2010, won''t work on mine...

  • BSOD when installing windows 7 drivers using bootcamp in macbook pro late 2013

I followed the bootcamp instructions and installed windows 7 in my macbook pro 13 inch late 2013. But when the bootcamp starts to install the required drivers, halfway through the computer goes to BSOD. And after restart windows shows many error messages of "validation error".
I have a student licensed windows 7 professional.

I had the same problem. I  was installing a Debug Build of Windows 7 on MacBook Pro 15" Late 2013 with a student license and it would die with BSOD while running BootCamp at the end of Windows installation. I solved the probelm by downloading a non-Debug version of Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1 and re-trying the installation from scratch. That is, I went back to OS X, launched BootCamp Assistant, erased the previous partition of Windows and re-created it again. After that, I installed a fresh copy of the right flavor of WIndows and it worked flawelessly.

  • Can I use a touch monitor with win 8.1 using bootcamp on MacBook Pro? Thanks.

I have a MacBook Pro  late 2013. I have installed win 8.1 using bootcamp. Can I attach a touch monitor to use with Win 8.1?

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro forum. This is the forum for the 13” white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010 none of which can run Windows 8. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Installing windows 8 through bootcamp on macbook pro mid 2010

i know there are a lot of posts about this but i've not seen anything to help me.  i have a mid 2010 macbook pro with maverick installed and completely updated.  i'm want to try bootcamp to install windows for my database class that is using microsoft office and access (i'm getting the software for free from school and it is not the mac friendly versions).  i can use virtual box but i really want to try boot camp just because i've not used it before.
i open up boot camp and follow the prompts of downloading windows support from apple and install windows 7 to my 32gb flash drive (which is fat formated).  the message i get when doing anything is that this software is not on the support software server.
i have downloaded the bootcamp 5.0 support software directly from apple's website and it is unzipped on my flash drive.  i also already have windows 8 iso ( i also have windows 7 if i can't do 8).  even though i already have the support and os iso on my flash drive bootcamp still wants to down load them.  can i bypass this step and move on?  do i need to have a partition on my hard drive already made.
basically i need some to see what else i need to do to prepare my system and/or steps i have missed to install windows 8.  thanks for any assistance you can give me.

I DOWNLOAD BOOT CAMP 5 THEN INSTALL WINDOWS 8 PRO.
AND I UNZIPPED ON MY FLESH DRIVE TO HAVE DRIVERS READY.
BUT THE WINDOWS DOESN'T EXCEPT PRODUCT KEY.

  • Update bootcamp on macbook pro 15 mid 2010

    Hy there,
my friend has a macbook pro 15inch mid 2010 with OS X 10.8.2 and
he wants to install windows 7  from an image.
    There is bootcamp 5.0.0 installed.
Isn´t it possible to create a bootable windows 7 usb stick with bootcamp?
I didn´t found an update to bootcamp 5.0.1. Isn´t there an update for this macbook?
    regards
    Michael

No, there is no update except for what is installed with an OS X update. Open Boot Camp Assistant and click on the large Print Documentation button. Read carefully.

I have the same problem! Amazing, $299 for the TC, $20 for the upgrade and I cannot get backups!!!  There is no solution?
    Can anybody help?
    Did you reboot the TC??
What about the whole network... turn everything off and reboot from modem.. router.. TC (might be one and the same).. clients...
Reboot not sleep the Mac.. it has to restart the network.
If you still have issues, give more info.. wireless or ethernet.. how the TC is connected.. bridged or router etc.
Is this a new setup or did you upgrade to ML and the whole thing went flop. If so reset TM.. see A4 in pondini troubleshooting.. ML or any upgrade install is a bad way to go.. !!

  • "Not enough RAM" error - MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.8, with 8.0 GB RAM.  I'm using Photoshop CS5 and the PerfectResize 7.5 plug-in to create some very large files (1.5-2.0 GB).  I enlarged one file, and then checked my RAM availability; of the 8.0 GB RAM, about half was inactive and there was only a sliver of free RAM left.  When I went to enlarge a second file, Photoshop was unable to do so because there was insufficient free RAM.  When I closed Photoshop, my free RAM increased to 4.0 GB while the inactive RAM dropped to 1.4 GB.
As I understand it, on the Mac, "inactive" RAM is really free RAM, and (as I said) I have 8.0 GB RAM to begin with, so I don't know why I'm getting this error.  I have Photoshop's performance preference set to let Photoshop use up to 70% of the RAM, but even at other settings, I couldn't complete the operation.
Does someone understand Photoshop, MacBooks, and RAM well enough to explain what is happening, or how I can fix this without having to close Photoshop?  Thanks!

How much free space do you have available on your boot drive?  Is that also where your primary scratch file resides?
With files in the 2 GB size range, you will need tons and tons of scratch disk space, conceivably up to more than 200 GB in extreme cases.  Photoshop moves stuff back and forth between RAM and its scratch file.
My personal rule of thumb is to figure on 50 to 100 times or more the size of your largest open file multiplied by the number of files you have open at any one time. I have seen the scratch file exceed 300 GB on rare occasions.
Perhaps you should look at an external FW drive for scratch.
I'm not saying this is definitely your problem, but without more information it's hard to guess.
Perhaps I shouldn't have replied to your post at all, given your last paragraph, since I'm not brave enough to attempt to run Photoshop on a Mac Book any more, although I did so for some time when that was my only Intel Mac.

    What can I do ?
    Thanks

    Lilly,
since you just got your new MacBook Pro, at this point I’d recommend making an appointment at an Apple store to show them what’s happening when you run Boot Camp Assistant. Be sure to take your Windows 7 disc and your USB SuperDrive with you, so you can show them how it currently behaves. Please include in your reply whether they were able to resolve the problem, and if so, how they did it, so that future readers of this discussion can benefit from your experience.

  • Need some help using BootCamp on MacBook Pro 2011

    Hello,
I have just bought a CD which is not compatible with MacBook's, and can only use Windows operating system. I have been direceted to use the BootCamp application, when I load the app, it comes up with two options, to download something or buy Windows 7, which I dont have, therefore I chose the first option. I was told to put in a USB drive in, which I have done, and a load of files have been downloaded to my USB drive, but what do I do next?
    Thanks.

As you are using OS X Mountain Lion and looking at the MacBook Pro you are using, you can install a 64-bit Windows 7 or 8 version, but you can't use Windows XP or Windows Vista. If you haven't got Windows yet, buy Windows 7 on a DVD in Amazon or eBay, or Windows 8 from the Microsoft Store or Amazon (make sure that you buy it on a DVD).
What you have downloaded to your USB drive are the Boot Camp drivers. Those drivers are for all the hardware of your Mac, because Windows doesn't detect everything, so you need those drivers to run Windows properly and get the maximum performance of the MacBook Pro. You have to install them just after installing Windows.

  • Bootcamp on Macbook Pro 15

I have a Macbook Pro 15" intel Core Duo bought last year. I wanted to use the Bootcamp to install the Windows XP SP2. I was able to partition the disk and start the Windows instalation. However, when the installation finishes loading all the drivers, etc, it comes to ask "Press R" to continue installation and "Press F3" to quit, and "Press R" to repair installation, my keyboard stops functioning. I mean not only the three keys need to be pressed is not functioning, the other keys are not functioning as well. I repeated the process several times and finally unsuccessful.
