Bottom cover seems to be stuck?
Hi guys,
I've just bought myself a CR61 laptop. I still have 4gb of RAM lying around and I'd like to upgrade.
I'm having trouble removing the bottom cover. I remove all 5 screws as per:
https://forum-en.msi.com/faq/uploads/165/MS-16GB_Disassembly_guide.pdf
But I feel like I'm forcing the lid when trying to remove it, as if it's stuck at the bottom side and near my optical drive. I don't want to force and break it. Anyone here have any experience with removing the bottom cover?
Thanks in advance!
Yes, that's what I thought. I took out a 6th screw just to be on the safe side. By applying quite some force I managed to release the bottom half, and pivot the cover around the corner point (near the WLAN module). By doing so I've managed to upgrade the RAM on my notebook.
If there's anybody out there having the same problem, or can tell me what I'm doing wrong, please let me know how to solve this cover mystery!
Thanks!

Ipod seems to be stuck between syncing .... stuff on ipod is now labelled 'other' ... don't have the music on itunes so can't get back from there. Is there anyway to remedy current state without having to restore and lose everything? music, playlist menus etc come up as being empty even though there is space on the disk. Am wondering if it has been casued by plugging into itunes at work. Ipod worked fine last night but I just can't access anything today ...... have looked quickly at forums but cannot find anything which works. Have reset a couple of times with little effect. Went home and pluged into home pc just in case .... but no joy ..... have itunes set to manually manage so it doesn't synch music. Any help would be most appreiciated :-)
Plug it in to iTunes - go to the Summary tab when the iPod appears - go down to the 'Configure Accessibility' button (bottom of the page) - click it. You may see VoiceOver checked. Uncheck it, then click OK.
Failing that: I have a 7G. With my version, I get the voice when I hold both volume buttons down (I think). Maybe your buttons do the same thing and maybe they are being held down by something? Just a guess. -
My Muse site has a list of various forms to download. The list seems to get stuck on different titles, so you can't get to the form that you need.
For example:
AGENDA
BID TAB
NOTICE TO PROCEED
And if you go to click "NOTICE TO PROCEED," "AGENDA" would actually be highlighted and the file associated with the AGENDA link is what shows at the bottom of the browser.
This has only started occurring since the last CC update.Hi Pessable,
Please open gpedit.msc and check the following path:
Computer Configuration/Administrative Templete/Windows Components/Windows Update
On the right side, find the Configure Automatic Update, Enable this settings, then click apply.
After that, verify your registry settings is the same as below:
After that, check the update again. If the above is not going to work, use the 9926 ISO to run the DISM command:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image
/RestoreHealth /source:WIM:X:\sources\Install.wim:1
/LimitAccess

Slight Flex from under bottom cover!! Is it normal?
Hi Guys,
This is a weird issue that I have, and I wanted to run it by you guys first before I bring it up to the Apple geniuses, who seem to be trained to turn repairs down quite often I have noticed.
When I pick up my MBP Unibody (Mid 2009) with sealed-in battery, I noticed that in some cases I get a slight flex from under the bottom cover, it is very minor flex, but is the computer supposed to have any flex when you pick it up? To be more exact, I feel it under the SuperDrive when I grab the machine with one hand in that general area, it feel like a slight "creak".
Any comments and suggestions on this issue are appreciated.
Cheers,
Felix M.I have come across some other posts in these forums regarding users noticing some flex in the bottom case.
Here's one:

T430s, unable to open bottom cover screw
Hi,
I wanted to check if I can add a mSATA drive to my t430s
but I am unable to open one of the bottom cover screws
It is so hard closed, it simply does not move (spin).
When I trial to open it I scratched a bit over the surface of the screw.
And for sure not because I am stupid, so far I opened all of my Thinkpads without any problem.
so I think there is something strange with this screw.
This means that my T430s is not expendable and repairable.
What now? What shall I do
W500 Windows 7, T410s Linux, x121e Linux, T430s Windows 8.1,
and my wife's Edge E330 Linuxfinally I was able to open the screw,
this was really a quality issue, dam soft screw and to hard in.
not happy about this.
and I need a replacement for this screw
and unfortunately I found a Ericsson modem in the mSATA slot.
so it seems there is no mSATA available :-(

Thinkpad edge e530 large bottom cover stripped screw
Hi,
I have a stripped screw on the large bottom cover caused by using the wrong screwdriver which was my fault. I am guessing warranty will not cover this issue, if not can anybody direct my to getting a new cover with screws in it, as the screws do not come out.
Also if it makes a difference, I put in a repair request through the website, and they shipped me a box to send my laptop in, however since I am a student I NEED this laptop every day and cannot have it in repairs.Just a small bump, I have the same problem with my Lenovo S440. I plugged in an m.2 SSD, closed it up. The SSD didn't seem to be connected correctly, so I tried to open it up again and 1 screw just totally warped. I did use the correct screwdriver, it's actually exactly the same one as the Lenovo engineer who repaired my laptop yesterday used. I can probably drill it out without doing any damage, but if anyone has a better solution I'd like to hear it. I'm also looking for some replacement screws (the size/type isn't mentioned in the replacement manual, but I' ve already opened at seperate topic for that).
I know this post is quite old, but did you by any chance find a way to take it out? -
Y510p - accidentally broken bottom cover
Hi, I have the y510y model for a while. Great machine and I'm taking care of it.
But yesterday on my way home some **bleep** pushed me in the tube trying to go out and teared my lap top back on oone side where the holder is. And my lap top fell on the floor!! When I got home and checked for damages of course there were... It is not a big one but it is still there - my right corver top bolt seems to be broker or damaged and there is tiny little bit loose space. My lap top on the other hand is working perfectly. I've never ever dropped it before or managed it somehow.
So my question is - can I buy that bottom cover and replace it? How and where? Will that affect my warranty as I have paied for 3 years an year ago when I bought the machince?Dear Lilavo

Pressure on bottom cover makes Macbook Pro shutdown
Have a problem I have never had before. I have a 17" 2010 MBP, never had a problem like this with any of my 4 former laptops.
Very slight pressure on the middle of the bottom where the ram compartment is, makes the computer freeze and I have to shutdown hard. After that it makes the "3 beeps at startup" to indicate bad ram.
Well, I tested the ram and it's fine, so I know that it's the pressure touching something it's not supposed to. The pins that hold the cover from touching the logic board etc. doesn't seem to do the job very well.
I have never seen this problem before, is there a fix, or do I have to change the bottom cover?
Right now I can't move my MBP when it's turned on, that will in 99 % of the cases apply just a bit amount of pressure to the bottom case, enough to make it freeze and shutdwon.
Not very portable right now ;-<It sounds like either a connector is loose, something is shorting when you put pressure there, or maybe a bad solder connection. You should take it in to the Genius Bar for a free eval. If you're under Applecare the repair is free too.

Crack between bottom cover and unibody
Hello!
I have replaced my MacBook's HDD, and since I have done that, a small crack appeared between the bottom cover and the unibody at the left side of the notebook.
I have tried to fix it by bending the bottom cover a bit, but this doesn't seem to make any difference. Is this crack a normal phenomenon, or is there a way to fix this?
Hope someone can answer this question for me!
With kind regards,
Jeffrey van den BroekNot normal for the bottom case to crack, Would make sure the top case was installed correctly, they have gray spacer type locks that slide in and out on the sides and front, one could be mis-aligned and putting pressure on the case, also over tighten screws could be causing the problem.

I was trying to install a coupon printer software from a website and it seems to be stuck. It has been installing it for hours. When I click on the installer and try to quit it won't let me. Any suggestions on how I can stop this?
Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner and choose Force Quit. Look for the item that says Not Responding and force quit it.

I tried to burn a DVD using iDVD after upgrading to Maverick, first time I tried after upgrading to Maverick a few weeks ago. It seems to get stuck at encoding menu stage and not doing anything. Does anyone else have the same problem?
I did not have a DVD handy to burn but I have just created a small 2 minute video and created a Disk Image and also a VIDEO_TS folder, the encoding worked correctly, so it works with some items.
You may get a better responce in the iDVD forum.

How do I get my itunes to recognize my account, it seems to be stuck on my friend account even when my ID show up as sign in, only when I try to update an App, that my friend account appear. I try to reset it on the computer and the phone itself, but no luck. Please advise
Many thanks lllaass,
The Touch Copy third party software for PC's is the way to go it seems and although the demo is free, if you have over 100 songs then it costs £15 to buy the software which seems not a lot to pay for peace of mind. and restoring your iTunes library back to how it was.
Cheers

The first step in Upgrading... is to Snow Leopard = OS X 10.6.x
It is Not available as a download... It is a Paid Upgrade.
Do this first...
Check that your Mac meets the System Requirements for Snow Leopard...
Snow Leopard Tech Specs > http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
If so... Purchase a Snow Leopard Install Disc...

After the Successful Install, run Software Update to get the latest updates for Snow Leopard and iTunes.

I have been downloading Mountain Lion for MAC for over 4 hrs. and it seems to be stuck about 2/3 of the way through. I have a I mac that is only 2 yrs old has 8 GB memory and I updated all software, checked utilitie for any disc repairs andbacked up everything before I started this process. Can someone tell me what to do Right now the version is OSX 10.6.8.
Let it go... these DL's take forever, depending on the spped of your connection and the traffic on the servers.
If by morning it is still sitting there restart and the DL should pick up from where it left off.
