You can bypass the password and wipe the drive and return to the original facory installation if the seller included the orginal install DVDs with the Mac mini. If not you will need a retail version of Mac OS X. To boot from the Install DVD restart the mini, immediately slip in the DVD and press and hold the C key.

I am having setup issues with a used 4S iphone. I can't get past the Apple ID step.
First it said it was an existing ID and I should go to iforgot and reset my password.

Then I entered the serial number online support and it said the ID was another account. Would that be the seller?

RYes, you have encountered Activation Lock (Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support). The only way that phone will ever be usable is if the owner the phone is locked to releases it (see: Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account - Apple Support). If you are lucky the phone is locked to the seller, so you can ask them to unlock it. If the seller is merely a middleman and the previous owner is not the seller it gets much more complicated. It's even possible that you bought a stolen phone, in which case you will never be able to use it and you should return it for a refund.

I'm getting the "You are unable to log in to the user account xxx" message. I click OK, then the Apple icon appears, and that's as far as I can get.
I'm new to the Mac, and have had it running for a month. Set it up initially as "Host Name for local network."
Here is where I got into trouble. I changed it now to the 3rd item, "Host name for Internet." I entered a domain name I have, "ve3zt.ca" and I recall at the time that the computer name changed to VE3ZT from local.mini, or something similar. I rebooted and am in this position. Obviously, I made a major boo boo.
As I said, I now can't get past the Apple logo. Pressing any keys on the keyboard results in a "beep" from the Mini. That's it!
Any help would be appreciated.

I did the "command-R" recovery and everything went smoothly. However, the message, "You are unable to log in to the user accound "xxxxx" at this time. Logging in to the account failed because an error occurred." Pressing OK brings up the Apple logo screen. Can only get out of this by pressing the power button on the Mini for several seconds.
Any advice?

Let's start with what you are trying to install. Adobe Reader is free, so it won't be forcing you to buy anything. So
- What are you trying to install (full name, please, Adobe make lots of things)
- What system (e.g. Windows 7, Mac OS Lion, iPad...)
- Where do you go (what web address) to start off?
- Why were you "forced" to do this? -

Claudius,either you didn't read my post, or you jumped to conclusions. I had a skype account that was created using a microsoft account (NOT THE ACCOUNT I AM USING NOW). PURE MICROSOFT ACCOUNT NO OTHER ACCOUNT LINKING.I had to change the primary mail of that account.I was told "no can do" by skype support.I found that if I went to account settings and clicked on the link on the line below the one that said "MICROSOFT etc" (labeled something along the lines of "TV or Device") I got the opportunity to set the password of the "live:username" account (WHICH YOU COINCIDENTALLY HAVE TO DO IF YOU WANT TO USE SMART TVs ETC).Once that was done, I COULD SUCCESSFULLY DO WHAT SKYPE SUPPORT SAID WAS IMPOSSIBLE- I could change the primary mail address. once that was done, and NOT BEFORE, I linked the account to a facebook account as well, just to be sure I have more than one way to access the skype account. Without the correct password you are not going to be able to get into the drive. I recommend you try to remember the password or you will have to erase the drive in order to use it again. -
On my wife's iPad mini I can't get past the screens accepting the software license to upgrade iOS over WiFi.
Works if I do it over iTunes on my desktop.

Hold down the home and lock buttons until you see an Apple Logo, then release the buttons.
If that doesn't work, you should check to see if you have a backup because you may have to restore your device. -
Want to play tv shows purchased on iPad on Apple tv. When I touch icon for apple tv and choose "apple tv" it asks for an apple tv password. We have never set up any password and can't get past this screen. Does anyone know how to find this password?
You can remove the Airplay password from the Settings menu on your AppleTV.

The only time I've ever seen that happen is when creating a NetBoot volume from an Install DVD, and forgetting to create a user account. This leaves the system in a state where you can't log in, because there is no account to log in to.

Try a device reset and start over again with the setup.
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
Re-reading the post, I now see your issue more clearly...can you rotate the screen (be sure Orientation Lock is disabled) to have the "agree" tap-able section in a different physical place (out of the bad section) on the screen so the bad part of the screen will be in a different area? Give that a try.
