If you own any verson of iPhoto '11 then there is a free update to version 9.5.x in the App store
If you own a previous version of iPhto (iPhoto '09 or earlier) then as always an upgrade to a new version (in this case iPhoto '11) is a paid upgrade and you purchase it in the App store
and no OS update/upgrade contains a version of iPhto - it is a seperate program and although it is included as part of every new Mac it is not a free program and never has been sinve version 1 or 2 (I forget when it changes)

Open the Mac App Store on the other Mac and in the Quick Links sign into your account. See if the Mountain Lion purchase is among hidden apps in the iCloud area of your account info.

Did you get any message from when you attempted to make the purchase? Did you review your credit card details in your iTunes account? Did your crest card expire and you forgot about it?

If the TOR Browser Bundle is installed you would have two versions of Firefox: the original Mozilla Firefox and the customized TOR Firefox. You can try to start the Firefox that was installed by TOR. If you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of TOR and TOR Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration areas/modules of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization etc. in addition to the main AV/Firewall module. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for TOR and TOR Firefox + its related processes. If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

*Check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar

How can I reformat my Mac Book Pro without using disc utility? My laptop keeps crashing, and needs to have everything reinstalled, but disc utility will no longer open, saying it 'quit unexpectedly'. I'm running Mac OS X10.6.8. I've lost install CD.

My laptop keeps crashing. This seems to happen only when it's streaming from sites such as Netflix, YouTube or Spotify.
Also, it stopped being able to run iTunes, and can't download Yosemite.
I want to wipe it and reinstall everything - I've already done a full back up.
The problem is disc utility will no longer open, saying it 'quit unexpectedly':

Even if you could open Disk Utility you can't reformat a disk while you are booted from it. You will have to use the install CD. Ring the Apple Online Store at the number given at bottom left of this page and give them the serial number of your Mac. You should be able to get the Snow Leopard install disks for a nominal fee.

Upgrade to 18.0 has disabled Java even though plugin checker says Java 7 Update 10 is up to date, yet webpages using java display "missing plug in" error

Attempting to install the "missing plug-in" using the Firefox prompts results in Java 7 Update 10 being installed, re-installing it is successful and does not resolve the issue, Firefox 18 refuses to allow/display java content even with the proper updated version of Java installed.
This problem ONLY occurred immediately following this mornings update to Firefox 18.0.

Context:
Yesterday: Java working fine.
This morning: Update to Firefox 18.0
Java will not work, not at all even with Java 7 Update 10 installed, not even the "verify java version" applet at http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp will display.
When attempting to view/display any java content the "missing plug-in" error bar at the top of the page displays and attempting to install the required plug-in via that method does not resolve the issue even though the correct version of Java is installed and the plug-in checker verified it was "up-to-date".

Bought used imac wo software/clean install

We recently bought a used imac...I recently transferred my laptop's info over using migration asst but transferred its problems too. So, I want to do a clean install on the imac and transfer info over slowly.
When we bought the imac, however, it did not have any of the software disks or OS X disk. The owner said that he made disk images of his software and does not have the disks anymore. He said that he can give the disk images to me, but that I will need to burn the disk images first to be able to erase and do the install.
I am clueless as to what all of this means, but I am assuming he'll hand me a CD of disk images and that they will appear on my computer when I insert CD. Do I then use Disk Utility to burn the software to disks? Do I need to burn each one to a separate disk?
Or can I burn the OS X disk, erase computer, and then install OS? Then use the disk images on the CD to install the rest of the software?
Is there a certain type of disk or capacity that I should use?
Is there an easier way?

In general terms, if you are given a disk image file, it will probably be a .iso file (cross-platform format) or a .dmg file (Mac-specific format).
All you do is
Run Disk Utility
(If the disk image file is on an optical disc, you will need to copy it to your hard drive first, since you will need the optical drive for the blank disc.)
Drag the disk image file from a Finder window to the Disk Utility sidebar, below the horizontal line.
Select the disk image file in the Disk Utility sidebar.
Click the Burn button in the toolbar.
Follow the prompts.
When you buy a used Mac, you should insist that you get the original discs. If they are not part of the deal, look elsewhere. If it's a fairly recent Mac, you may be able to contact Apple and get a replacement set for a nominal fee.

Bought Used Snow, It Wants a Password!

I just bought my first airport base station for my ibook (which already has an airport card for business trips).
At home, I have cable internet and several router hubs (for other macs and xbox)
I bought the airport base used, and plugged it in to the wall, and ethernet cable from one of the hubs.
My ibook detects the "Apple Network 164293" in the airport setup admin. But when I try to connect, it asks for the password.
HELP! If the person before me had password protection for the base station, am I going to have to guess it??
how do I erase the darned password and start from scratch. I got no manual or directions with the unit.

Ok... I have been using my airport for awhile now and decided I, too, wanted to put a password on for my wireless internet. I've gone through the Airport Admin Utility like it says, it recognizes my airport and when I click on Configure, it'll let me put in a password but then tells me "An error occurred while reading the configuration."
I've done the reset 3 times now by pushing the paperclip into the bottom of the airport so the password is reset to "public" and tried adding the network password that way (as well as changing the 'public' password)
But... I still get an error message saying it wasn't able to complete the task. HELP PLEASE!!! It's so very frustrating
I have a macbook pro now but I still have the old airport (wasn't experiencing any problems until now...go figure) it still works great, connects, everything. All I wanted was a password!!
