BPC 7.5 vs BPC 10.0

Does anybody have any experience in BPC 10.0? Which are the best advantantages of BPC 10.0? Are there any disadvantages? We are very happy with EVDRE functionality in BPC 7.5, and it is substituted in BPC 10.0. For that, we are thinking of making a new installation in SAP BPC 7.5 instead of BPC 10.0. We have seen in ramp-up presentation that apparently is more attactive, but we are not sure that the functionality is better than in 7.5.
Could anybody clear my mind?
Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Fernando,
With BPC 10.0 all BPC consultants are blessed with better performance and better integration with other SAP products. Its something to feel happy about. But, I can understand your concerns......
[http://help.sap.com/content/bobj/sbu/docu_sbs_bpc_design.htm#] check this for online documentation and release notes.
Yes EvDRE will not be there....... thats what is according to the release notes and upgrade guide.... but some of the talks still say that customers have requested SAP to keep supporting EvDRE. If this is true.... then yes..... BPC 10 will have EvDRE along with Extended Analytics....... Extended analytics will be far more superior tool when compared to EvDRE from many angles... which enables better integration with other EPM products. Functinality in BPC 10.0 going to be definitely better than 7.5 .. thats why new releases come ;)........
Hope this helps....
Happy to help again.......

  • SAP BPC 7.5 to BPC 10.0 upgrade, problem CPMBPC_800

    Hello,
We are currently upgrading BPC 7.5 to BPC 10.0. We want to do an upgrade of our existing BPC 7.5, and not an 'clean' installation of BPC 10.0.
Right now we are having some issues with the´basis part of the upgrade.
We have installed the POASBC 100_730 SP01 (POASBC ABAP component) with no problems
and now we want to install the EPM content in the download package 51040691 (Server components).
In the download package 51040691 - there are two folders 'upgrade' and 'installation'
The files have been uploaded into SAP BW 7.3 and the problem now is in 'saint' - we can see the CPMBPC_800 package, but the type is 'INSTALLATION' and there is not an option to choose 'UPGRADE'
Is 'INSTALLATION' the same as a clean installation - or will the package detect the existing SAP BPC 7.5 and do upgrade instead of an installation ?
    All help is appreciated
    Thank you,

    Hello,
we are facing the same issue. Did somebody solve this problem? Is INSTALLTION the same as UPGRADE?

  • Migration from BPC 7.5 to BPC 10

    Dear BPC Friends
As you know the end of mainstream maintenance for the version SAP BPC 7.5 MS  is 31.03.2016.
Which will be the risk involved if we don't upgrade?
Because my company has been running a project to implement SAP ECC, SAP BW and SAP BO (the project started about three years ago and probably to complete the roll-up it will take about another 3 years)  which are the benefits to migrate to version 10.1 for NW instead of 10 MS?
    Which are the disavantages?
    thanks
    Michele

    Hi Michele,
The end of mainstream maintenance means there will be no further service packs or patches for BPC MS 7.5. Upgrading to BPC MS 10 or BPC NW 10.0/10.1 would be your three options.
I suggest speaking with a certified SAP consultant or partner to start planning now to determine what is the best option for you.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Unable to connect to environment after migrating Security from BPC 7.5 to BPC 10.1

    Hi Experts,
We are working on BPC 7.5 to BPC 10.1 NW migration and after migrating the environment, we are unable to connect to environment.
While trying to access, we are getting the following error:
After taking a backup of the necessary environment in BPC 7.5 NW we are carrying out the 2 steps in the BPC 10.1 NW box:
Step 1 : Tcode UJBR - Restore the environment in BPC 10.1
    Results: This is working fine.
Step 2: Program UJT_MIGRATE_75_TO_101 - Running the migration utility in BPC 10.1 to make the objects compatible with BPC.
    2.1 Execute without Security Mapping
    Results:
This is working fine. We are able to connect to the Environment and access the dimensions and models.
2.2 Execute with only Security Mapping
    Results:
After this step, we are not able to access the environments and are getting the Logon error.
cannot get model "" in environment "xxxxxx" from Admin module
The logon attempt failed; contact your administrator.
If you have any options to resolve this error, it would be great.
Else, we will have to re-build the entire security design manually.
    Regards,
    Sushant Pradhan

    Hi Andy,
Thanks for your response. Yes, my id has SAP_ALL authorization.
Still unable to access the environment after migrating security.
To make things less complicated, we went back to BPC 7.5 NW - deleted all unwanted user ids, we kept only 3 user ids. Then, we took backup of application set and restored it in BPC 10.1.
We created a mapping file of those 3 user ids in BPC 10.1 as NW user ids and executed the Migration utility. Again we have same error.
    Regards,
    Sushant Pradhan.

  • Migration from BPC Microsoft Version to BPC netweaver Version?

    Dear all,
    we plan to migrate bpc.
what tools that we use to Migration BPC Microsoft Version to BPC netweaver Version ?
    Any suggestion for safety technique?

    Hi Tara,
As far as I know there is no automatic method provided by SAP right now to migrate from SAP BPC MS to SAP BPC NW.
Please have in mind that the front end will be the same, but the backend will be different: BW, BADIS and ABAP (In NW) vs SQL, SSIS packages, Stored Procedures and Visual Basic (In MS). Which means that there will not be an easy way to perform this migration in an automatic way.
    Hope this helps

  • Are there any enhancements from BPC 5.1 to BPC 7.0?  If so what are they?

Are there any enhancements from BPC 5.1 to BPC 7.0?  If so what are they?  We are trying to figure out whether or not to capitalize an upgrade.

    Hi,
There have been lot of enhancements incorporated in BPC 7.0
    1. BPC 5.1 was running either on SQL 2000 or SQL 2005. However, BPC 7.0 works on SQL 2005 or SQL 2008. The preferred one is SQL 2008, since the performance is much better.
    2. Because of the change in the SQL version, BPC 5.1 was able to support DTS packages alongwith DTSX. However, BPC 7.0 supports only DTSX packages.
    3. The logic debugger is in place to debug the script logics.
    4. While processing the dimension, there is an option for validating the dimension logics written.
Hope this gives you some idea on the enhancements.

  • Difference between BPC for MS and BPC for NW

    Hi All,
I'm looking for some comparative analysis between BPC for MS and BPC for NW. Can you please give me your points or direct me to some link/material where I can find such stuff.
Primarily I'm focusing on following two points:
    - How would the integration to SAP BI work (=differences between SAP BPC (NW) and SAP BPC (MS))?
Could the same degree of automation be established?
    - I was told that  SAP BPC (MS) could be much faster implemented than the NW version. Is this really the case? Why?
I would really appreciate your earliest response.
    Regards,
    Shabbar

    Hi,
BPC for MS runs on Microsoft platform where as BPC for NW runs on SAP Netweaver.
BPC for NW is tightly integrated with SAP BI all the dimensions and applications created in BPC NW can be seen in BI system in the form of Infoobject (dimensions) and Infocubes (applications).
Performance depends on the complexity and scalability of the project. BPC for NW may undergo lots of improvements and developments in future versions.
search SDN u will get help.
    Hope this helps

  • BPC 7.0 SP07 & BPC Powerpoint

    Hi all,
I have tried to use BPC Powerpoint with BPC 7.0 SP07. It seems that it doesn't work fine:
1- sometimes when I insert an Excel object (ie a BPC Excel EVDRE report) into a slide I just have a blank sheet.
2- sometimes the EVDRE report is visible but all group lines and columns are visible too. I have to edit the report from BPC Powerpoint to hide all unecessary rows and columns. In this case it seems that the report doesn't depend on the Current view of BPC Powerpoint. For example, my report displays the quarters which depends on the Time current view. If I change the current view in BPC Powerpoint and I click on "Retrieved all data" nothing occurs. When I click on "Expand all", I have an error message: "You should select the Excel object".
Have you already seen these problems?
    thanksfor your help,
    Romuald

    Hi
    Romuald Colletaz
We are thinking about applying SP07
Please provide more insight on why did SAP release SP07 so early after SP06
is there any particular issue that cannot be solved by SP06
this is important for us since we are in the process of applying SP06
    your inputs are highly appreciated
    thanks

    Hi experts,
Currently our system is BPC 7.5(BASE level) on NW 7.0 EHP1. this server is for our internal purpose. we are planning to upgrade it to BPC 10.0. it will be direct upgrade on the same server.

  • Upgrade BPC 7.53 to BPC 10.0

    Hello,
we are running on BW 7.3 with BPC Version 7.53 (not 7.50), which is necessary one for a NW 7.3 system. We would like to upgrade to BPC 10.0, but unfortunatelly SAP provides no explicit information about this scenario.
Does somebody know if this upgrade is supported by SAP?
Are there any experience with this scenario?
    Kind Regards
    Waldemar

    Hello,
I have opened an OSS message and the answer is as follows:
The upgrade from BPC NW 7.53 to BPC NW 10.0 is possible. Once it is
successfully done by an SAP partner or the SAP consulting service (who
are supposed to know exactly if there are some changes needed to be
done on the system) it will be supported by our primary support team.
Maybe this will help somebody else, too.

  • BPC 5.1 and BPC 7 NW

    Hi:
Has anyone installed both BPC 5.1 and 7.0 NW on the same machine?
We need to demo 5.1 and 7 NW to different clients and are wondering if we can use same machine to install both versions.
I do not see any specific technical requirement conflicts in the installation document.
Has anyone tried this with success? Any issue to look out for?
    Thanks,
    Subramania

    Hi Subramania,
I assume you're talking about the client only, not the server. I had a BPC 7 NW client installed on my machine back in October (an early release) and it didn't allow an install without first uninstalling the BPC 5.1 MS client. Likewise, to go back to 5.1 MS I had to uninstall the 7.0 NW.
This may have been improved in the most recent builds of 7.0, but I would be very surprised if they can sit side-by-side.
I'd recommend using a virtual machine setup for one or the other, even if it's just a VM running XP with the BPC client software (i.e., not the BPC server).

  • BPC 5.0 or BPC 7.0

    Folks,
I have a client Starting to implement BPC in 2nd
Half of this year and Go-Live March 2009.
There is an Intention to use BPC for all
FI-CO reporting and  for process of planning
    and consolidation.
Now if we Go BPC 5.0 then all data at document level is expected to reside in BPC
    in the sql server.
The above means not loading BW with any FICO info and
    loading BPC 5.0 from ECC.
My take on this situation is
    1. Signup for ramp up BPC 7.o since Go-Live is next
    year.
    2. If for some reason you cannot get on to ramp up then implement BPC 5.0 with the following Architecture
    1. All FICO data goes to BW using Business content extractors etc
    2. Use OpenHub to push data at an aggregate level to fulfill needs of Consolidation and Planning for BPC 5.0 which sits on Sql server.
    3. Extract final numbers back from BPC into BW using DBconnect.
    4. In the above scenario you can still do basic reporting in BPC needed to support the process of consolidation and planning without making BPC 5.0 the environment for all FICO reporting . This will be consistent with the roadmap in my opinion.
Normally I dont advocate rampup but in this case feel worth it.
    Any thoughts appreciated.

I was recently informed (by someone who had attended a sales presentation of BPC) that BPC7.0 will be available in GA at the end of June of this year. Apparently they have a ramp up customer that started in March.

  • SAP BPC 5.1 vs BPC 10.0

    Hi all,
I am trying to compare the BPC 5.1 with 10.0, but there are limited resources that I am found on the internet.
Can anyone point out the differences in the two versions?
I can only find comparison between versions 7.x and version 10.0. It will be of great help too if anyone can provide the comparison between 5.1 and 7.x
    Thanks in advance.

    JP,
Can you please explain your statement "In Administration point of you" I don't understand.
I beleive your statements may be a little misleading.
5.1 and 7.0 are first of all, completly different SAP products.
From an end user view, they are extremely alike. From an admin view they have many commonalities. Of course 7.0NW utilizes NetWeaver  features and functions. So, for example, creating a Data Manager packages is vastly different.
The natural upgrade path for 5.1, (or ax, ax) would be 7.0M, (Microsoft version).
    7.0MW runs on NetWeaver .
    As a side note;
Regardless of the experience with other SAP products and NetWeaver ; If you don 't know BC you will have extreme difficulties implementing BC 7.0NW.
I see so many questions from people that have no ideal how to even spell BC trying to implement it. They do nothing but demonstrate thier own ignorance and create such hugh problems for everyone else. To be fair, I have even seen such bad BPC application designs and builds from people that have years of experience with the product, (and other PM products).

In the process of updating a web page in the content library, page crashed received an error message of "Exception of type System out of memory.  Exception was throw".  What does this mean?  We are now unable to open this sheet without receiving the prior message.  Any remadies would be appreciated.

    Hello,
Did you receive this specific error message only managing that web page or for all pages?
Did you try to stop all COM+ components on the application servers(on each if you are using more). It looks to be related to some memory problems.
If the problem is related to a specific web page, the problem can be related to the content of that web page.
