Hi Guys,
I have the following questions:
1. How to kill an interactive activity? I tried to kill a process in an interactive activity via PAPI but it throws an exception:

2. How to close a custom JSP in a screenflow through javascript. I have a cancel button which once clicked it will close the window.

Sory, but I'm still not sure, how ADF comunicates with BPM (I know that it uses EJB services and hwtaskflow.xml). But a still don't have an answers for follwowing questions:
1) I know ADF quite good. Having method in data controls (in our case getTaskDetails()) we need to invoke it somehow. I don't see anywher invokation of this method.
2) In generated task flow there is some managed beans and params - what is role of them ? Having over 50 task flows , do I need it in all of them. Where can I find description of those beans and params
3) In our approach we use BPM , ADF RC for UI and Business Components to persist data into database. Only data from payload we need is ID of master-level row. My question is - do I have to generate data controls for all human task ?. In my my opinion it should be only one communication point between BPM and ADF but not the same for all pair human task --> task flow.
All infomation I need from BPM is:
- task ID
- task flow name (to open apriopriate tab in my application)
- available outcomes
- to know is BPM operation is enabled

Hi,
As of today you should install SOA Suite 11g
Fr this you will need to install Database (for development you can use XE)
Run RCU utility to crete DB schemas for SOA Suite.
Install Weblogic server
Install SOA Suite as an option to Weblogic
Create SOA Domain.
It is physically possible to do it in 2GB but is far better on 3 - 4GB
You can consider installing DB on different machine.

When closing my Firefox window, all processes are not closing requiring me to open task manager and kill the process before using Firefox again. Received recent upgrade and hasn't worked right since then.

I open Firefox, use it, then close the window. Try to reopen Firefox and it fails with a message that a previous process is still running. Requires me to open Task Manager and kill the old process.

Try to wait a bit longer before reopening Firefox to give Firefox more time to close completely.<br />
Try to use "Firefox/File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar.

Isolating and Killing Runaway Processes

How does one go about isolating and kiling a runaway PL/SQL process? I decided that it would be fun to call a
procedure within a package that had an improperly coded loop, coded by yours truly. I called they package and
then noticed that it seemed to be taking too long. Upon reviewing the code, I noticed that I my program was
now stuck in an infinite loop. Since this process had run off on its own, I tried to complie it to fix the problem and
much to my dismay I could not even complie the code, even though I was able to read the source to my screen.
Where can one look to gleen some information as to how to kill the instance of the demon child without having to do
what my DBA did and restart out database instance? Any v$ views etc?

If you are in sqlplus when it locks up, you can simply enter <control> c
that should kill the process. If you close your sqlplus session in any other way than standard exit procedures, depending on your setup, you either wait for pmon to find the defunct process or the administrator has to kill it for you.

The plug in container for Adobe Flash eats up 100% of my CPU on a regular basis and I have to go in to task manager and kill the process.

Screen updates become very slow and intermittent. I then start task manager to see what is using either ram or cpu, and invariably it is Plug-in container for Firefox using most of the cpu resources. When I kill the process, I get the message at the top of the browser that Adobe Flash plug-in has crashed.
I understand that Flash is useful/necessary for many applications, but is there a way to limit the resources it uses?

Document currency and exchange rate processing question during order entry

Hi Gurus,
I have an issue where all our price records are stored in currency USD. When we take an order for a country that requires pricing to be in an alternate currency, the document currency is changed during order entry. This results in any price condition records retrieved through the condition techique to get converted correctly per the exchange rate. However we have conditions that are calculations off of the conditions retrieved using condition formulas. For example we have a condition which represents 90% of our list price. List price is retrieved in USD as 10.00 USD and converted to alternate currency 63.40 TTD with an exchange rate of 6.34, but our calculation dollar value remains in USD but displays the alternate currency as 9 TTD, should be 57.06 TTD . We are using standard pricing formulas. I know I can call a conversion function within my formula to get it right, however, is this correct system behavior? I expected standard SAP to convert all price results leveraging exchange rate into document currency. Any guidance will be appreciated.

Hi,
I went through the problem and still feel that there is somethign wrong in the routine which is used. You can confirm this by removing the routine from the condition type in the PP, and manually entering the value for the c.type in SO in USD and then check if the value is coming correctly in document currency. If the translation is happening for one condition type correctly and not correctly for another condition type, it should be the issue only with the routine.
Pls check the scenario without the routine and check once and accordingly update the situation.

so I hve one integration process and 2 receiver.The prob is frm IP it is pointing to only file not to IDOC
1) 1 sender agreement
2) 3 receiver determination
3) 3 interface determination
please help me out..

Why are you using BPM for this?it is not good design.
If you want to still use bpm then
1)1 receive step,
2)2 transformations steps(if or are executing Operation mapping in IP).
3)2 send steps.
check your BPM design and monitor Integration process work flow.

Integration of new BPM (NWDS EHP1) and Solution Manager process graphics

Hi Experts,
we are trying to use Solution Manager for our client's process documentation. Now, Solution Manager generates a graphic which unfortunately is almost unusable (no lanes, no transaction link, just visio-like graphic). Even the old ASAP 4.6C graphic tool was better and more interactive.
On the other hand the new BPM in NW Developer Studio EHP1 Composition Environment seems to provide a perfect graphical tool for process modeling and documentation.
Does anybody know if there is a (future?) possibility to integrate these two tools?
As an alternative, does anybody have an idea how to get better Solution Manager process graphics?

I also digged a little into this topic since I was wondering about the different modeling techniques SAP currently provides and how they will be integrated in the future.

It looks like in NW BPM 7.2 (planned for end of the year) there will be a "read-only" integration with SolMan processes while in the future there will be a bidirectional integration which means that BPM can import SolMan processes, enhance them and again export the models to SolMan. This is a great step further to the Common Process Layer SAP is referring in the [BPM Roadmap document|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/003cf0a1-e8fa-2a10-7db5-ba245a663d9f&overridelayout=true].

We want to implement a SAP BPM scenario in a finance process for the VAT Tax reporting. So basically, our accountant needs to run some SAP transactions along with some manual outside steps. Then the supervisor will perform some checks and finally the tax manager needs to approve it.
There is some interactions with SAP but only for a small part of the process. What we want to achieve is to be able to see the key performance indicator for our process. But at the moment this is not delivered with SAP BPM. I've heard that this may come in the next release end of 2009, but in the meanwhile I'm wondering if other people have been able to implement some customization in Net Weaver or have found other alternatives to be able to monitor their process adequately.

Find network share process and kill it

Hi All,
Is it possible that we could find open network share access process and kill it?
For example, user is opened a folder via network share (e.g: \\myserver\c$\myfolder). Is it possible that we could somehow query process to identify this open network share process and kill it before attemp to delete C:\myfolder? Please advise.

You could try checking for open file handles, as described here:

Killing processes question

Hi!
I'm a new guy here with a decent load of experience in java programming, and I have a question I hope some of y'all might be able to help with. I have a program that starts a process through runtime.exec(). This process is a make file that in turn gets a fortran program rolling. My problem is that when I call process.destroy(), nothing happens. My guess is that the original process, namely the make file is successfully being killed, but my little child process is left to its own devices. After a bit of research I learned that this is a common problem with child processes but I never ran across a solid solution to at least work around this! Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey, thanks to everyone who's replied so far. I'll hold out a bit longer to see if anyone else has any ideas then move on from there. As for the issues you listed, warnerja,
1) I imagine by that definition, I'd have to agree that it is a new process. Makes sense why I can't kill it through killing the original.
2) This new process runs in the background but for an indeterminate amount of time. My program picks up files this program creates and makes use of them. As this can go on for some time, the option of stopping this without full completion is required. I can get my program shut down without a problem, tellin this other guy to hold up is throwing me for a loop is all. Thanks again!

Invoking Remote Processes and Killing them

Hi,
I need to invoke c++/java programs remotely using a web browser on multiple computers on a network. I am running web servers on each of the computers. These web servers host servlets to invoke the processes locally on that computer. The web front end provides invocation of these servlets. The servlets are essentially using Runtime.exec(command) to start of the particular program (c++).
the problem is now killing the processes remotely. Is there anyway I could accomplish that?
Please give a example if possible. The last time I asked this question I was given some very tough answers which I could not comprehend at all.

I found out a way to do this. I am using kill.exe, a utility to kill a process in windows given the name of the executing process. It seems to be working fine except a new problem. This may sound a bit wierd too. I am using a couple of machines including a few servers running win2k advanced server. I know using kill.exe on these servers is not a very nice thing to do from a security point of view but the present task is purely academic in nature. Back to the problem. I am able to run the batch file, kill.exe and other stuff on the local machine through a servlet hosted at a web server running on the same machine. I am ablr to do this for most machine except one. Now this machine is running win 2k advanced server too. The exact query that would be defined from this discussion could be -
Are there some setttings that allow how much control is given to the servlets running on the web server at the local system?
Can a servlet, once invoked, perform any action on the machine?
I searched some literature/documentation on this. Did not get anything specific. Your reply would be higly appreciated regarding this.

An insurance analyst has access only access to the backend, not to XI. So send the message to the backend, start a workflow here and send a message back.
You can use ABAP proxy to implement this.
In PI 7.1 there will be human interaction in BPM, but this requires a user in the PI system and is useful only for administrators, as there are no application data in PI which enables the user to decide, whether he should approve or reject the request.
In PI 3.0/7.0 there is no user interaction in BPM.

My application while running in playback throws fault error report and it needs to be closed programmatically by killing the process.

BPM process and BRM rules process in same development component in NWDS

Hi All,
Is it possible to create the BPM process and BRM rules process in the same development component in NWDS?
I tried but whenever we create it,say,first ly for BPM,that is File-New-Project-Development Component-Process Composer
While once this development component is created I try to create rules composer in the same composer by right clicking on local development component as well as process composer but ther is no option of creating /calling rules composer/rules modeling.
Can you please guide me creating both BPM process and BRM rules composer/rules modeling in the same development component if its possible?

Open your project explorer and expand the BPM project you have created. Locate a folder named "Rules" in the Project Tree. Right-click on the Rules folder and select 'Create new rule'. You can model your rules such as rule-scripts here and use it in the BPM.
Note: These rules cannot be used outside the BPM Project.
