Brand new iPod touch will not connect to home wifi

Monday I got a brand new iPod 4 to replace my previous one, as the home button had failed unexpectedly. The new iPod is working fine, running the latest iOS but when I try to connect our secure home wifi, it won't accept the password. We have reset the password and I've reset network settings. I'm so frustrated, because everything else connects to the wifi BUT my iPod will not take our correct password. What can I do? Should I take it back to Apple? I'm already annoyed by having to get a new iPod. The last one connected just fine but now this one won't.

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. done
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Just bought my daughter an ipod touch. Pugged it up uploaded Ios 7 everything looks great except it wont let me download anything and wont let me connect to itunes. Help!! She would really love to play on it, but can't since low tech mom can't figure it out.

Brand new ipod touch will not sync?

Bought a brand new ipod touch. Tried to sync to iTunes on my computer. Checked all music in library, clicked sync, ipod says it is syncing, computer says sync is complete, but there is no music on the ipod. Have repeated process a dozen times. Have tried automatic sync and manual sync. Have disconnected, reconnected. Have restarted both devices and tried again. No error message, gigabytes show nearly nothing used up, on the computer and on the ipod, even after it says the sync was successful/is complete. Argh, help!?

When you say all of the Music is checked, do you mean checked in the library? When you hook up your iPod to the computer, you also have to make sure that the "Sync Music" box is checked on the Music tab for the Device Profile....

New Ipod Touch will not connect or sync

I recently got a replacement Ipod Touch. I connected it to my computer and can see it in the My Computer window, however Itunes cannot connect or sync to it. It's not there. I have another Ipod Touch, it connects but will not Itunes does not recognize it when it comes to syncing. I have followed the directions on the help list. Nothing is helping. The new Ipod does connect and sync with another computer but my music is on this one. HELP!

I bought an iPod touch today, and when I plug it into the computer, it's recognized on my COMPUTER. However, the iPod icon will not show up on my itunes. I already did everything on the list for the apple troubleshoot on this topic with no luck. Any help?

We bought this itouch for our daughter for Christmas (2011), It has worked fine all this time until now. All of a sudden it will not connect to our home wi fi. All the other ipods/iphones/laptops and desktop are connecting fine so I know it is not the router itself. I have tried all the standard troubleshooting tips (forgetting the network and resetting it on the ipod, turning it off an on, plugging it in and updating the software, we even restored it completely from itunes as a new ipod). It lists the network as available but then when you try to connect it just sits there with the little circle icon thing spinning, trying to connect but never does.Please help!

make sure your home wireless network is not "hidden." Settings -> Wi-Fi -> select your home network, it it's hidden, select "other" and manually type in the network name, password, and select security type.

Brand New iPod Touch will not update or restore.

Ok this is getting really annoying. I have tried to update my Ipod touch and I keep getting the same message: The iPod "xxx " Could not be updated. This device isn't eligible for the requested build. So after all of that i tried to restore my iPod and i recived the message The iPod " " Could not be Restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build. I recently purchased a refurbished iPod touch to develop apps on. I have had the iPod touch for about a week and last night the iPod suddenly shut off in the middle of use. The battery was low so I figured it was simply a dead battery and I went to plug it into the charger. This morning, I tried to turn it back on after about 10 hours of charging and I got the same dead battery plug in charger screen. I then swichted it to a usb slot on my macbook and left it to charge all day for about 9 hours. Again, I turned it on and nothing, just a dead battery screen. Both usb slots on my computer are working completely fine for my other devicesbut not this. I have also tried plugging it into the wall, but I get the same results. One other possibility is that I have the iOS 8 Beta on my phone currently and I have experienced some issues with that, but not enough to brick my device...or at least I thought. I have only had this device for a few days and so far I am very disappointed that this has happened already. If anyone can help me out without having to go to an Apple store for service that would be great!

So did you iPod 5th gen worked again? I had similar experience. This is my own iPod (not refurbished), so I know it was
in great condition (I rarely used it but only for dev). I installed iOS8 Beta, and one morning, the screen won't turn on.
I plugged in power and nothing happened. After a few min, I heard that characteristic "power beep" and thankfully,
it came back to live. What I noticed is that I have > 90% power. So whatever happened, it isnt because it's low in
battery.
I have a suspicion it is entirely due to iOS 8 beta. Such a thing never happened to my iPod till the day I installed it.
My theory is that it is doing something busy, or there's a bug in the "waking" mechanism, and become extremely
sluggish to any external input, until it is done with whatever mysterious things it was doing. I am now putting it
in air plane mode whenever i don't need it, and also turn off icloud back up. Hopefully, I don't see this anymore.

So last night I decided to turn off my router just by unplugging it due to my sister keeping me up. So basically when it got plugged in, everything besides the wireless internet works. I think it is more of the router than the ipod. Any information that you need I will gladly tell! I haven't had this problem before.

Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?

IPod Touch will not connect to wi-fi away from home

I realise this may not be a fresh topic but I've searched and cannot find an answer.
My Touch - more or less brand new - connects to my home wi-fi with no hassle. Syncs, the whole bit. Lovely.
But it won't work away from my home. It recognises wi-fi networks, let's me connect to them but won't actually let me access webpages or update my mail. The mail aspect is the biggest problem as I'm away from it most of the day and bought the Touch to solve the problem. It says it's updating but nothing is downloaded.
Accessing the internet, even with wi-fi apparently switched on, doesn't work either. I've even tried renewing leases on wi-fi networks but it still won't work. Please help.

Couple reasons for why iPod Touch will not connect to WiFi Networks outside the house
1. They are using Mac Address Filtering. Which require the WiFi address in your iPod Touch to be programmed into their WiFi Router. Not much you can do to fix that unless you know who owns the network and they are willing to add you
2. The networks are running in 802.11 n Speed only mode. Thus iPod Touch will not connect as the touch only supports 802.11 B/G connections. They could also be using the old 802.11 (A) connection on the network as well
3. As stated earlier they could have outdated Firmware/Software on the router. Thus making the router out of date and not able to connect modern day devices. So if you know the owner it may be advised they contact router manufacture or their tech to update the firmware/software and see if touch connects after
4. Outdated Touch Software. Ensure you have the latest free version of the iPod Touch Software. If you have yet to get one of the paid versions you may wish to research and or see if a friend has a newer software on their touch and is able to connect to the networks you can not.
5. WiFi Network security the hot spot is using. Sometimes old standard WEP security can prevent Touch from properly connecting and getting on the network. It is recommended if you know the owner or tech that runs it to try and use WEP 128 bit 13 character password or stronger more modern day wifi security.
If they are using 40/64 bit WEP. Try adding a $ and then the password that they provide you and see if you can connect.
If you get the time please visit your local Apple retail store so they can further look into the touch and test it on the store wifi network. If for some reason it does not work there and they determine possible HW service is needed they will speak about your in warranty options.
