Break in songs while playing, battery issues

Hello, got an Ipod mini 4gb. while playing music i start to get breaks in sound or no sound all. I thought it might be the headphones however I have 3 of them and I have the same issue.
The battery is another. I have charged the Ipod for more than 24 hrs, reset the ipod. The battery life is around 2 hours at max before I get the Low Battery indicator warning.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi salahipod, and Welcome to Discussions!
Regarding the headphone issue, it could be one of two things. First, it could be a problem with the song files themselves, especially if the issue happens with the same song(s). If you suspect it only happens to songs from a certain CD, for example, try deleting and re-importing the troublesome CD(s). Second, it could be an issue with the headphone jack itself. Inspect the jack for damage, like something lodged in it or perhaps something that looks bent. Insert headphones - do they go in all the way? Do they seem loose, like there is extra wiggle room in the jack? If there appears to be a hardware issue with the iPod, it would be worthwhile to send it in to Apple if you are still under warranty.
Regarding the battery, it sounds like it is reaching the end of its useful life. You may wish to look into having it replaced. If you are out of warranty, Apple will do this for $59 plus shipping. Third party companies also do this service, and many offer do-it-yourself kits. • Songs are pausing several times(pausing every few seconds in a song) while playing in iTunes in mac what to do??

while playing a song in itunes on my mac each song pauses atleast twice or thrice in a minute. what to do please guide.

first the mac started acting slow and eventually the itunes started pausing.
This does not look like an iTunes problem. I'll ask the hosts to move this to the Lion forum.
Check, if the problem is system wide or only happens when working from your user account. Try to use iTunes logged in as a different user. Do you get a better performance?
What model of Mac are you using? How much RAM does the mac have?
Have a look at the second half of this document, if anything applies to your situation:

  • Rating Songs While Playing Genius Mixes?

I love the Genius Mix feature of iTunes. But I also like to rate my music for making smart playlists. How do you rate songs while you're playing Genius Mixes. There is no stars to click when you mouse of the the mix folder. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Thanks, Garbeth, that works.
Apple - really?  Why can't I just have a LIST VIEW of genius mixes again?  Just becuase this works doesn't mean it isn't totally combersome and frustrating.
Sometimes a list really IS the best answer.  I have to click someplace to see if I've already rated a song while using Genius to randomly play my music?  Is the goal to discourage our using Genuis?  If so, it's working.  And I really sort of liked it...

  • Trying to have a break between each song while playing music in iTunes

    Hi there
When Playing music in iTunes the songs run without any break - that is something like 5 seconds before the current song playing is supposed to finish, the next one already starts to play. I hope to have a break between the songs - only when the current song reaches an end, the next one begins. Is there a way to do that? I would appreciate your help.
    Thank you
    Zak

I have the same problem. I have the crossfade set to four seconds and have made sure that the "part of a gapless album" is not checked. Any ideas on how to fix this? thanks.

  • ITunes continuously cutting off ends of songs while playing

Whenever I play music on iTunes on my macbook, the song always finishes before the actual end. The start and stop time have not been changed for any of the songs. It never finishes in the same spot and it will also count that as a 'play' of the song even though it hasn't been played through fully. This is frustrating me and I have no idea how to fix it.

I have not had a major problem with this, only two of my songs have done this, but what I do to fix it is go into itunes and right click on the song and click get info. On the options tab just check the stop time box and the problem should be fixed. It doesn't keep the problem from happening again, but it is a way to fix one song... hope that helps

  • Download songs while playing (Match)

    Hi!
I've all media library stored on Cloud via Match, and I've recently formatted my iMac.
I was wondering if it is possible to automatically download songs during playback. I mean it would be great if iTunes automatically download songs from Cloud and copy in to your local library folder without press the [Download] button.
Do you know if there is any option for that?
    Thank you.

I recently signed up for iTunes Match, and matched all of my songs from iTunes. But now every time I play a song on the iPad it has to download it to the device. This is strange because the whole point of using iTunes Match for me is to save space on the iPad.
Then you signed up for the wrong reason. In order to play a song, it must be on your iPad/iPod/iPhone.
The songs are  always downloaded to your device.

  • Reading comments of the songs while playing on your iPod!

Few days ago I downloaded the new iPod updater. It has many disadvantages but I just found a really cool advantage. When I played my podcast instead of giving me rating of the song it shows the comment text that you can type in iTunes. I think this will really cool option if you can read your comments for songs on the go. Don't you? Anyone any idea why the podcast coments can but the mp3's cant show up on my iPod? Thank you.

    Very Cool!

  • Itunes unexpectedly quits when i rate songs while they are playing.

basically. Itunes unexpectedly quits whenever i am listening to a song and then i rate it, i havent tried everything, but it also quits when i tried to edit the artist of a song while playing it. also, everytime i open itunes it goes to a certain playlist. how can i make it stop doing that, or change it to automatically open with the playlist of my choice?
    thanks in advanced

I tried deleting them and redownloading them but its not working.
Try deleting and redownloading again, this time with simultaneous downloads disabled.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked.

The original iPad has a slow processor and only 256 MB of memory so it often runs into low-memory failures.
Double click the home button and dismiss all of the recents - I do that weekly.
Then reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider - I also do that weekly.
Both seem to help to reduce the low-memory faults that occur.

  • I have had two instances of having a downloaded album "scrambled" while playing on appletv, I.e. the track listing remaining correct but having the wrong songs play.  Once this has occurred the album does not play correctly.  Any help with this issue?

I am having problems with Apple TV scrambling albums while playing from iTunes.  The track listing remains correct but the songs play out of order and not all of the songs seem to in place, I.e. a song that played previously under one title will play as a different title.  Any thoughts or help?  Thanks.

A bit confused by your statement

. I do not understand why the music is clearly on the Ipod but wont reconize it anywhere.
Are you seeing your music listed in the iPod screen, or in Win explorer as in your earlier post?
I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder.
A corrupted iPod database, will report zero music used, and have your music size reported as others, so you wont see the music in the iPod screen. Sorry, I thought there was some hope for you with iPodAccess, in recovery of the corrupted iPod database with your ratings.
You can try to borrow and  use the Mac Disk Utility ->First Aid ->Repair.
Of course, if your iPod Hardisk is in a bad state, from the Disk Diagnostic report, then all my suggestion are futile.

  • My iPod nano will go into the sleep mode while a song is playing a second after the screen goes blank; the song will stop and I will then have to press the sleep/awake button to pick up where the song left off.  How do I fix this?

My iPod nano will go into the sleep mode while a song is playing a second after the screen goes blank; the song will stop and I will then have to press the sleep/awake button to pick up where the song left off.  How do I fix this?

Your problem is that your iPod is not sensing that your headset is inserted. There is a pin inside the headphone port on the Nano that senses if it is inserted fully. If it does not sense anything, it will pause playback to save battery power when the screen dims. Here are the solutions:
Insert it fully. This will fix it for most of you. Press that thing in there all the way. You should feel and hear a full click when it is fully seated. If you can see ANY silver of the headset jack, it is not fully inserted.
Debris inside the headset port. If you are totally unable to push the headset jack all the way, the most likely problem is that you have crud inside your headphone jack. Try blowing it out or slapping it against your palm with the headset port facing your palm to try and get the stuff out. If you look into he jack with a light, you should be able to see to the bottom. The entire inside of the headset port is white, so if it looks dark at the bottom, that is the crud that is keeping your nano from working.
Headset jack or plug issue. If you cannot solve the problem with 1 or 2, then there is likely something physically wrong with either the headset jack on your headphones or the headset port on the nano.
If none of the above works, you need to take it to the Apple store or wherever you purchased it. I think they are still under warranty.

  • How to switch off screen while playing songs in 5G iPod

Any ideas how to switch off the screen completely (not just reducing the brightness) while playing the songs.
i'm thinking that this could improve the battery life !!!
30GB Video iPod   Windows XP Pro

No you can not do this; you can only turn off the Backlight.

  • My ipod classic 160gb will be playing fine then it sometimes freezes up or start shuffling through the songs not playing at all. After i reset it works ok for a while then same thing. Bought this so i could control through my steering wheel/radio.

I sure hope someone can help me with these ipod classic 160gb issues.
My ipod classic 160gb will be playing fine and then freeze up (unable to move around in it at all) and i have to reset it. This happens constantly whether in my car or when i listen at work. After i reset it works ok for a while then eventually requires another reset.
Another problem is that it will be playing fine and then start shuffling through songs without playing them. The songs that get shuffled work fine in the itunes program but not on the device. A reset does not correct the problem with these particular songs.
Also, sometimes when it is working and not freezing up or shuffling through, it will appear that a song is playing (in fact it says "now playing"), the song titlte is scrolling, but the song progression bar does not move. The count up in front of the bar stays at 0:00, and the count down at the end of the bar stays at the song length minutes not counting down. After I reset, it works fine and all the songs will play.
The reason I got this thing was because i can control it through my steering wheel/radio while i'm driving. I previously had a Zune 80gb which i'm glad I held on to. I have over 6600 songs (so I'm obviously a serious music listener and obviously frustrated), but only about 10 songs were downloaded through itunes, the rest I either ripped or downloaded from other site. From what i've been reading it sounds like there's a lot of ipod owners out there experiencing similar problems. Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve these issues for me and everyone else? I got my first iphone 8 months ago, then the ipod and was considering an ipad. But in light of my ipod issues.....
I hope someone can help me and convince me it wasn't a mistake to go Apple! Thanks!!

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

  • TS1718 I have purchased two complete albums in the last three weeks, old Bob Seger and new Maroone 5, both have the same issue, only a few songs will play and will skip over the rest of the songs on IPod and on computer????

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the corrupt tracks from the music section of your iTunes library, close & then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked. This seems to help with partial downloads...
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.
