Bridge CS4 pretends to work on Win7

I recently uninstalled my version of PS CS4 including Bridge, and reinstalled it onto my new computer with Win7.
I mark files with stars, leave the folder and when I come back the ratings are gone.
Also, when I try to delete a file, the hourglass flashed briefly and the selection changes to the next picture but the one I tried to delete is still there.
I double-checked with Windows Explorer and verified no files are ebing deleted, and no file sort/xmp files are ebing created.
I already made sure the folders are NOT read only.
Please help!!!

On Windows 7 it gives me 2 options when I right-click; run the program, or unpin form the task bar... no option to run as admin.
I also looked unsuccessfully for the default program permissions in the control panel.

Bridge CS4 Favorites not working right

About half the time I open Bridge and click on a favorite, I get the error message that the file or folder does not exist or has been moved, so I have to delete all the favorite folders and re-drag them to favorites.
I saw a very old message that advised deleting the preferences (but won't this also delete my MANY keystroke shortcuts?).
Any tips appreciated.

What do you mean with losing the many key stroke shortcuts?
To my knowledge Bridge has no possibility to choose or define your own
shortcuts like PS has?
So I don't see how refreshing the prefs would destroy those because

I work actually with mac OS10.7.5 and i use everyday PSE8 with a classification in adobe bridge CS4
I would like to change my mac OS for at least 10.8 or mavericks or even with yosemite which is coming soon
can you tell me if there is compatibility with mY bridge CS4 and PSE8
I don't afraid to change for a new PSE like the 12 because i dob't want to use the organizer all my tags and classification is with bridge and i don't want to do a new classification, too much photos!

je voudrais le faire évoluer en 10.8 voir maverick mais j'a i peur que PSE8 et bridge CS4 ne fonctionnent plus ave
je ne suis pas opposé à faire évoluer mon PSE mais je souhaite conserver l'utilisation de bridge CS4 pour mon classements et mots clés car je ne veux pas tout refaire ! qui pourrait m'aider et me conseiller ?

Pse 8 and Bridge cs4 seems to work okay here on mac os x 10.9.4 mavericks.
The only trouble i've had is with the output module in bridge cs4, which has crashed on occasion.

Bridge CS4 / Flash Web Gallery

Hi!
I'm trying to create a web gallery in Bridge CS4.
If I save to disk, then it'll run fine locally, but once uploaded it won't any more.
No idea why. It used to work, and as far as I know, I altered *nothing*.
Here is one that did work:

Both of the later galleries don't have a folder "bin" created, which the first one did.
Also weird, is that when I used CyberDuck to upload the "test1" gallery, I got a "403" error when trying to view it...
HTML galleries work "so so" for me.
Again: looks fine locally, looks off once uploaded.

A few other points I have with the web galleries through BridgeCS4: There seems to be no option to watermark, or to convert the images to sRGB? These images are AdobeRGB, with embedded profile, which will look like crap in any non color managed browser. Not ideal, to say the least.
Also repaired permissions and such. Then restart.
No help.
I've tried resetting all prefs for bridge, and even installed the entire CS4 anew.
No help.
I'm at a loss here. Might be something simple I'm missing, but I don't see it...
Guess I'll just have to use LR to build web galleries.

I discovered a way to create a Bridge CS4 gallery that works in all browsers.
The flash gallery worked great on most browsers - but does not work on the iPhone. My google analytics show that many people are looking at my site via an iPhone.
Take 2 was making an .html gallery. Was able to preview it and it looked great on my computer, but when uploaded to my site the images did not appear, only the names. This indicated the image files had not uploaded. I located the "content" folder within the photo gallery and tried uploading it separately, receiving the error that there was an illegal file name so it couldn't be uploaded.
Take 3 - looked at the file names in the folder "content" and realized the sub folder name "bin" was probably causing the problem to solve it (it is assumed that you manage your site with Dreamweaver CS4):
Open Dreamweaver CS4
Locate the "bin" file in the "files" palatte and select it
In the drop-down menu in the upper right of the files pallet choose
>file
>rename
>then rename the file, I used "source"
Dreamweaver will ask you permission to update linked files - say YES
The gallery will now work on all browsers.

Will Bridge CS4 expire, too?

I just downloaded and installed the InDesign CS4 trial.
(Hold it, hold it ... I know this isn't the InDesign forum ... Just gimme a sec to explain ... sheesh)
Apparently, Bridge CS4 is installed as well.
When Bridge starts, however, there's no indication that after 30 days it, too, will expire.
Can anyone tell me what to expect next month when my InDesign CS4 trial expires?
Will Bridge CS4 continue to work?

I would think the answer is that the whole thing – ID and Bridge will become unusable.

well if i want to see all the photos rated 5 star , can i do it?
with bridge cs3(it has not a dabase) i had to use the search tool or set the filter and browse the folders
but this with cs3 overload the cpu because every time scan photos for the info
well with bridge cs4 can i do it , has a database , or also cs4 has to scan every time all the photos?
my last question is can i make a filter and save it , i mean use the same filter every time brigde cs4 start up

Bridge does have a database, but Bridge is designed to work as a browser. It doesn't catalog files.

Bridge CS4 one Windows 7 stops working when trying to load pictures in a new file

Bridge starts fine but when i click on some files to see the pictures in there it stops working.
The message i get is:
"Adobe Bridge has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I had problems with my XP x64 and CS4 bridge too and after formatting and installing windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) i thought it would be solved ... but no such luck.
Any ideas what to do?
also not sure where to look for any error logging or something similar.
Oh having problems with itunes too as it will not start....., yea i know wrong forum but just incase someone has the same problem as i do

Slide show transition in Bridge CS4 not working

Putting together slideshows in Bridge CS4 I can not get the slide transition to work, no matter what timing I set for 'duration.'
I have tried opening it in several different browsers, but no dice. Also my slides are jpgs at 72 dpi - so, rather small.
Any help would be appreciated.

You have to update bridge separately from PSE, and bridge ships with a pretty old version of ACR. Just go to Help>Updates in bridge and it will update itself for you.

No thumbnail rotation in Bridge CS4 under Win7/64bit

Bridge CS4 was working fine under Vista 64bit. After updating to Windows 7 64bit thumbnail rotation does not work (neither using [] shortcuts, nor the tolbar arrows). My computer has a GeForce 8600GT, to date in terms of updates. I tried resetting the preferences, purging the cache etc to no avail. Any suggestions?

Memory can also mean inadequate page file, memory problems, or cache. Also, since it is a new computer don't rule out defective RAM.

Why AdobePPro CS4 won't work properly with Win7 Ultimate OS

Can u please explain why Adobe PremierePro CS4 won'r work properly with Windows 7 Ultimate?? Is it because of a "bit" differences?? or for any other reason?? I have freezing problems on time line.. I am using Sony XD EX1 clips on the time line. Sometimes it works up to Dynamic LInk Encore and when it starts encoding, after few seconds it gives an error message "Encode failed" My computer config: WIN7 Ultimate/ Xeon 2.4 GHz, 12 GB RAM, Nvidia FX3800 Video card with 1GB RAM, C:\ 1TB SASHDD on RAID 5 system, D:\600 GB SAS HDD (not on RAID) Any thoughts to get it going? Opening Bridge CS4 After Reboot Win7 64

I notice that, in CS4 Win7, when I reboot, Bridge Opens to the Desktop, whereas in CS3 on XP, it opens to the last file before reboot. This is much preferable as there are times that a reboot is called for and having to find that file each time is aggravating. Is there a control for that?
Will CS5 Bridge behave the same as CS4? I sincerely hope not.
Reopening Bridge CS4 does go back to the last file, but not on reboot.
FYI, I deliberately did not upgrade to CS4 for various reasons and I am now evaluating CS4 on Win7 64 so that I might have a baseline for comparison.

Check to see if you have "autoload Bridge on Startup" enabled. I believe in CS4 they moved that to preferences in Bridge.
It that option is enabled you have to close Bridge first, before shutting down the computer, to revisit the last folder viewed.
IMO this is the default setting of Adobe, but a bad option. Can cause several other annoyances as well.

Adobe Bridge CS4 stopped working after Mavericks 10.9.3 upgrade

I don't know if it is due to the upgrade today or something else, but since upgrading, I cannot use the file folder function in adobe bridge cs4.
The files are on the drive and can easily be found in finder but the favorites in bridge and folder function in bridge does now show a choice of User folder to drill down to the files.
Anyone know if this is related to the new upgrade?
If so, I guess I'll have to cave in and buy LIghtroom or switch to iPhoto?

I had already checked there and they were as puzzled as I was.
There was an article in macworld.com this morning that addressed it...it's not just adobe, it's a problem some folks are having with the udate on either osX or itunes causeing the Users folder to become hidden.
The article gave a sudo command to unhide it.

Working on "open with" in Bridge CS4

I tried to open graphics under Bridge CS4.
Under File > Open With, I see following choices:
Adobe photoshop CS4 (default)
Internet Explorer 7.00
Paint 5.1
SnagIt 8 8.2
My question is how to change this choice. In other words, delete above listed programs and add other graphic programs there. For example, delete Internet explorer and SnagI, and replace with IrfanView or simpley replace default phostoshop with Irfanveiw like that. If so, how? James

If you want this as default change in preferences/file type associations.

Web Gallery in Bridge CS4 not working

I've just started using the Web Gallery function in Bridge CS4. The output previews just fine, and loads perfectly from local disk in my browser. When I upload to my webspace, I get just a blank page.
I have contacted my ISP, who say that the problem lies with the Index.html file. They have run it through a validator at W3.org, and it comes back with multiple errors. i have no idea how to fix these errors, and in any case can't understand why it loads just fine from my hard drive, but not from my webspace.

Yeah, and I don't see a 'show file names' box on the templates I've looked at.
What I did was go into the group.xml file and I could find the TITLE tags and changed those to what I wanted for my caption.
Still seems somethings not right, since I had to manually add them.

We have an aging white MacBook in our office that we are about to replace with a refurbished MacBook Pro with Retina Display. We have concerns about sharing documents and collections between machines, so we need to keep our software versions the same on both machines (Some software will have to be updated, and since the new laptop will be running MacOS 10.9 Mavericks, we're going to have to look at updating the iMac's operating system and other software.
We like the current Photoshop Elements 8 (with Bridge CS4) on the iMac. We would prefer not to upgrade PSE at this time.
Question: Will PSE 8 / BrCS4 run on MacOS 10.9 Mavericks? Are there any known compatibility issues?

I have updated to Mavericks from snow leopard I have downloaded Bridge CC and PS CC, still have Bridge CS4 on and PS CS4 and both now run, after experiencing cache folder problems like everyone has had it seems. Creating a new cache folder it seems to be ok now fingers crossed. I followed the way to do it on a thread on here.
