Bridge CS6 dialog boxes all have black background

All of the dialog boxes in my Bridge CS6 have black writting on a black backgroud which makes all of them unusable. I have tried uninstalling / reinstalling Photoshop to try and fix this but there is no change. Should I uninstall of my CS6 applications and try the install again?

I'm moving this thread over to our download/installation forum.

  • WORD doc x files show lettering changed from black to white with black background, colors have black background

WORD doc x files received open with black lettering changed to white with black backgrounds. Color images have black backgrounds. There is no issue for non MAC users. How can I open the document as sent? Thank you.

Pages (any version) is not a word clone, and may not digest Word documents as accurately as their native Microsoft application. Pages v5 is also far from feature/functionality complete, and that only compounds this issue.
Suggest you download/install the free LibreOffice and open the Word documents with it. Do the artifacts persist in LibreOffice?

  • Dialog boxes in PS & Bridge CS6 have black background

All of the dialog boxes in my Bridge & Photoshop CS6 have black writting on a black backgroud which makes all of them unusable. I have recently zeroed my hard drive and reinstalled all software (Adobe via Creative Cloud) and this problem popped up.
    Any Ideas??
There is a similar 2012 forum thread which addressed this problem, stating the solution was found by zeroing the drive, then reinstalling: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1008692
    Here's what it looks like:
Running on MacBook Pro (2011 build)
    OS 10.8.5
    Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel i7
    RAM: 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory (2x 4GB)
Graphics: Intel DH Graphics 3000   512MB
HD: 750 GB SATA (129 GB free)
    Photoshop CS6 (v13.1.2)
    Bridge CS6
(all other CS6 apps working fine)

Apparently this issue is cauused by agressive registry cleaners like MacSweeper that have deleted some files.  Here is the help doc.

  • Adobe pdf printer save dialog box opens in the background - progress bar shows Not Responding

I have two users who have Acrobat X Pro version 10.1.4 that are experiencing the same things.  First, one person just changed laptops and the new one has a fresh Windows 7 Enterprise X64 image and new installation of Adobe Acrobat X Pro.  When he used the pdf printer for the first time(after opening the program and accepting the license agreement) he was in MS Excel '07 and chose file>print>Adobe PDF and then the progress bar came up and then showed not responding.  After he did this a couple of times with me standing there I noticed that the save dialog box was opening in the background because I could see the icon blinking on the taskbar.  He said that his old computer never did this and that it would always open up and ask where to save the file and never show 'not responding' on the progress bar.  The other person having the same issue is running the same version but she has had the program installed on her machine for a few months and an older version on before that.
Is there a way to make the dialog box show as soon as you print to the Adobe PDF printer?  What is causing this?  Is there another way to create a pdf from MS Office like the add-on?

  • Characters in Dialog Box all 'As in boxes'

When i start up the characters in my dialog boxes are all As in boxes. This means I cant read what they are, and I cant find the answers anywhere online. How do I get my dialog boxes to be readable again?

The two most common causes are corrupt fonts, and/or corrupt font caches. The simple thing to try first is to clear the cache data.
Close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window:
    sudo atsutil databases -remove
Terminal will then ask for your admin password. As you type, it will not show anything, so be sure to enter it correctly.
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and the current user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.

  • Flash Player 14 : FLV alpha videos have black background!!!

    Please correct this bug.
All flv videos with alpha are now played with a black background. It's work with all previous Flash player versions...

Is that the reason why I can only view youtube right now? I can't view anything else even after clean instal. system restart and everything.

  • Google and wikipedia have black backgrounds in firefox, white in explorer. Why? I changed no setting.

I'm running Vista 64, have Windows color scheme set to aero, not high contrast, and firefox background color is set to gray. I don't like this white font on black background I'm getting in Google and Wikipedia. These two websites are fine in explorer. There must be a way to change this, right?

I solved it myself and maybe someone else has the same "problem".
Google. It's Google. I played around a bit with safe mode and when I disabled the ad blocker the videos came back.
Google have decided not to let anyone watch their videos if the ads are blocked by AdblockPlus. Maybe this applies to other blockers too. On Maxthon, ads can still be blocked as it's still relatively small. But FireFox is now forced to up their game or knuckle under.

  • Possible to have black background iso white?

Just got my Nano-8GB and I'm very pleased with it.
One question however, especially for 'Cover Flow':
Is it possible to have a black background instead of white (so white text + pics on black)?
Next that its seems nicer with pictures (also better contrast) it also heavely reduces battery drain because 'white' requires more power'.
    With regards,
    EiSl

As with the post above mine, it is true that regardless of what color scheme is being used it will still use the same amount of power to light to screen. The actual setting of the brightness effects battery life though.
With this being my first ipod, and my first non-cd based mp3 player I have ever had, I was actually expecting a more customizable UI. Now I know this is no phone, but my phone allows me to select different color schemes and I can even use the computer to design new ones from scratch of literally any color combination I want. Also basically any phone that supports pictures lets you set pictures as wallpapers, where the photos on the ipod I cannot figure out if you can even do that. The photos are just there to look at if you go to the photo menu? Not really the most useful thing in the world there for me.
I'd also like the option to remove the giant grey music note taking up half the screen on the 'now playing' screen when I don't have any cover art. I am shocked by a extreme lack of settings, but I guess I was just expecting too much~!
Would be sweet to have some sort of theme manager in iTunes.

  • Preview Shows Dialog Box All The Time

Hi. Before Preview didn't show the dialog box when I open it (photo below), it knows the last documents I opened and it launches that. How can I fix and bring it back to normal? There seems to be something wrong with its resume. I run two anti-virus, Sophos & ClamX AV, OS X is clean. I've also repaired permission.
Thank you in advance. God bless.

  • Using applescript how do i create a dialog box and have several possible inputs lead to the same result not using the "else" command

What i am trying to do is create a program that lets the user have a small conversation with the computer but i don't want to use "else" and list the possible inputs seperatley and have to write the same thing over and over again. does anyone know of a way i can list possible inputs together and have them lead to the same result?

Your script asks the question twice because that's what you tell it to.
The first line of your script asks the question:
display dialog "hey" default answer ""
    then you define your lists:
    set mylist to ("hi", "hey")
    set mylist2 to ("sup", "yo")
Then you ask the question again. This time you capture the result in theanswer:
set theanswer to text returned of (display dialog "hey" default answer "")
The simple solution is to nix the first line of your script, since it serves no useful purpose.
Then, your logic on checking the answer is flawed. If you look at the script in a formatted/indented manner you'll see:
if theanswer is in mylist then
      display dialog "what's up"
if theanswer is in mylist2 then
      display dialog "dude"
              end if
    end if
where you can see that theanswer has to be in mylist for any of the rest of this code to run - that includes checking to see if theanswer is in mylist2.
You need to separate this, either into two separate if statements:
if theanswer is in mylist then
      display dialog "what's up"
    end if
if theanswer is in mylist2 then
      display dialog "dude"
    end if
or by using an else statement:
if theanswer is in mylist then
      display dialog "what's up"
else if theanswer is in mylist2 then
      display dialog "dude"
    end if
In the first case both checks are performed. In the second case, the second check is only performed if the first one fails (i.e. theanswer has to NOT be in mylist in order for mylist2 to be checked)

  • HT204135 How can one make the printer dialog box to have Show Details as default?

I very often use different presets from document to document.  Thanks.

Once you select the Show Details for any application, the next time you use that application and select to print, the full details pane should be shown.
If this is not happening and the applications always show the Hidden Details print dialog then you may need to perform some sort of reset.
Also, if you were to use the Presets option and set commonly used settings as a Preset, then even if the print dialog is not showing the extra details, you can still select the desired Preset from this print dialog.

  • Mac Mini 2014 Boots With Black Background/White Apple

Mac Mini Specs: 2014 Model with 2.6GHz processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HD, Intel Iris Graphics, Mini-Display Port to DVI adapter with Dell monitor
Issue: When booting the Mac Mini up it goes through a very standard Yosemite boot but the background is black and the apple and progress bar are both white.  The issue is entirely cosmetic in nature and doesn't seem to have any negative effects.  What I normally expect and have seen in 30+ macs upgraded to Yosemite is the same loading but with a grey screen.  It's worth noting that I have noticed this issue on 2 iMac 2010s that had been upgraded to Yosemite that belonged to some friends, but their issues were intermittent or fixed.
    Steps Taken:
Updated from 10.10 to 10.10.1 and installed all other available updates
Checked the Start-up Manager, Recovery, and Internet Recovery.  All have black backgrounds and internet recovery's globe is small then normal.
    Reset SMC and NVRAM
    Tested Safe Boot
    Erase and Reinstall OS X
    Removed all peripherals except monitor
Tested another monitor and DVI cable
    Tested HDMI without the adapter
Replaced Mac Mini with new Mac Mini
    Questions:
    1. Have you seen this issue before and what are the specs of the device it occurred on? (OS, Model, Year)
    2. I wonder if this might be expected but can't find anything to reference that it would be and didn't get any answers even when asking people at the store or over the phone.  Have you seen any articles/pages that talk about this issue?
    3. Can you think of anything else to try and resolve this?

This is normal for the newer machines running Yosemite. There's nothing wrong.

  • Acrobat Pro XI print dialog box opens in background, Web Browser

Issue:  From web browser apps, I select Print > Adobe PDF > then, the Save PDF File As dialog box opens in the background instead of the foreground.
Acrobat Pro XI / Acrobat Pro 11.0.2
    IE8 x32 / IE8 x64 / Firefox 20.0.1
    Win7 Ent x64 SP1
Dell Latitude with I5 proc and Intel video
Dual screens with extended desktop display via DVI
In Distiller, I check the box for Preferences > Ask for PDF file destination.
I was issued a new corporate laptop a few months back, specs are above.  Did not have this issue with Acrobat Pro X on my old Dell Latitude running Win7 Ent x64 SP1.  So, I have multiple new moving parts in what could be the root cause.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Doug

    "Acrobat is a fincky application..."
One thing I've learned since OSX 10.2 is that Mac is finicky about printer drivers too.
I had a Lexmark and it would freeze all the time after I switched to Panther. It was a discontinued model so when I moved up to 10.3 there were no new drivers. The old ones installed OK but they would cause it to freeze up and if it did print, it took about ten minutes to get through a page of text.
I got a new printer and one tht had current drivers available for Mac and the problem was solved.
It seems we fight a never-ending battle with hardware and software racing to stay ahead of each other.
Yes I've owned three printers since owning my first Mac an SE 30 I started out with a Apple ImagewriterII (made C-Itoch).  I had to switch when I bought a 7100/66 which used the PowerPC processor instead of the 68030 processors. Then I had a HP DJ 650cse which used a Black Cartridge only. No color. I had to change again When I bought my G4-500. I am still using it today. Its the best printer I've had so far. I fear when I buy a new Intel Mac, and comes with X.6 (Snow Leopard) I will have to swap again. I've seen the new HP DeskJets and the won't last as long this one.  They look like cheap toys and (gulp!) they use heads built like in epson not the Cartridges.  The Cartridges were more expensive. But each time you bought one you got a new set of print heads. No longer.

  • Windows 8 Pro Adobe Bridge CS6 5.0.1.23 x64 not responding

On my new SSD with a fresh install of Windows 8 Pro and Adobe CS6 Design and Web Premium, I regularly get a "(not responding)" warning in Bridge's (5.0.1.23 x64) title bar when opening a folder location, and the program takes around 10-20 seconds to display folder contents. This seems to be an indexing or caching issue, but I have not resolved it through the following fix attempts.
In Bridge settings, I have placed the cache on the OS SSD at "C:\Users\York\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS6\Cache", and I have placed it on a separate internal physical HDD at "D:\Adobe Bridge CS6 temp cache". I have experimented with all other options (100% previews, export, manage, compact, and purge cache - restarting the app after each tweak).
I have Ctrl-opened Bridge to access the "Reset setting" dialog box, where I restored default preferences and purged the cache. This did seem to alleviate the problem temporarily, but it did not resolve it.
I have not uninstalled, repaired, or re-installed Bridge because it is not listed as a standalone app in the "Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall or change a program" window or the Adobe CS6 Design and Web Premium installer.
My system is Intel i7-2600K, Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti, 32GB RAM, Samsung 840 250GB SSD, various HDDs.
My other system, an Intel Quad-Core Q6600, Asus P5Q-Pro, AMD Radeon HD 6950, 8GB RAM, Samsung 840 250GB SSD, various HDDs, does not have this problem.
    Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks for the input, Curt. I have not changed the TEMP/TMP directories, which are set per Adobe instructions at http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/bridge-crashes-changing-temp-file.html. Temporary "not responding" freezes (10-20 seconds) are my issue. Crashes, as others are reporting due to the temp directories, are not occurring.  Other thoughts are appreciated.
