  • Why firefox 3.6 downloads all of the files again after restartarting the browser from a website if the "clear history when Firefox closed" is not Enabled?

We have a corporate website, we officially support FF3, FF4, IE8 and IE9. Our web site is quite big, so we really need browser caching, first time page load is around 15 seconds. With files in the cache getting new page is less than a second.
Everything works perfect except with FF3. With FF4, IE8, IE9 if we are on the website, clicking everywhere is fast, the page is in the cache. If we restart the browser, it is still fast, it loads files from the cache.
But with FF3 we have a problem. Every time we restart the browser, it is loading the files again from the server, instead of using the local cache (checked with Firebug). I can reproduce the problem anytime, it is the same with every FF3 instances. I double checked, the "clear history when Firefox closed" option is not enabled.
Could you advise please how to use the local cache either after browser restart?
    Thank you!
    Chris

Just read that the default memory storage on FF is set to 5 mbs. You can up that by clicking on tools, advanced and overriding the default and set it to 50 mbs (if you use lots of tabs) or 10 mbs (if you use just a few).
I open a blank tab and clear the cache periodically, while I am working. I can have several tabs open and watch videos on Youtube, by doing this. Have you cleared your cache?
Since I have an older computer, I've also used CCleaner for years. I use it often, but always before signing off. You can get it free...search for CCleaner, download from Pirifoam free. I didn't change any of the settings and it clears crap left behind from uninstalling programs, clears all browsers at once of: cookies, history, passwords, etc. I love it!
I had freezing, before using the "open blank tab, clear the cache" thing. Now I have no problems. Plus, as I said...you can change the default memory usage for FF and that should help too.
Hope this helps! Good luck! :)

    Oracle jDeveloper 11g 11.1.1.0.2
    FireFox 3.5b4
    IE 7.0.5730.13
In the design view of an xml document created from the faces-config I'm getting an error that JavaScript is not enabled.

I did not see an option to change the default browser in jDeveloper.
I know that JavaScript is enabled in both browsers.

    Hi,
this randomly happens to me as well and the way to resolve the issue is to delete the "systems" directory of JDeveloper and restart the IDE. I wished there was a way to always reproduce this behavior

  • Reader X in browser- vertical scrollbar not properly integrated

In both Firefox 4.0beta7 and IE8 on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit system, PDFs displayed in Reader X in the browser do not properly use the browser's vertical scrollbar.
The browser's vertical scrollbar does not reliably indicate the position the user is presently seeing in the PDF document.  (Actually, it almost never reasonably represents the current position).  Sometimes the vertical scrollbar will move when the user selects the select tool vs. the hand tool, but not usually even then.
This is disconcerting, as there is now no indication of how far the current view (the page the reader is actually seeing) is down in the document.
Reader 9 did properly cause the browser's vertical scrollbar to move relative to the view (page currently being displayed, regardless of cursor position).
    Adobe, please fix this.
    Thanks,

JRE not enabling on the browser.... Although I enabled it for mozilla family....

If you are referring to the setting in the Java Control panel then that setting doesn't apply to Firefox (was meant for the old Mozilla Suite).<br />
Firefox finds the Java plugin via a registry scan.
Make sure that you've installed the 32 bit Java JRE.

It is displaying the message that "Cookies are not enabled on your browser. Please adjust this in your security preferences before continuing."

[[Enabling and disabling cookies]] should work... if it doesn't, you may try
    # [[Websites say cookies are blocked]] and
    # if 1 doesn't help, then possibly see [[preferences are not saved]] if that's the case.

My guess is it's either a corrupt cookie or you have some add-on blocking cookies.

  • Browser scrollbar scripting?

I've done a bit of research and still not to sure how exactly
    to do this...
If you have a fullscreen flash site, by default your browser
scrollbar is disabled. So if someone's screen is smaller than the
site, they can't scroll to see whats off the page. How do you
enable the browser scrollbar with a fullscreen flash site?

Well I figured you were talking about making my flash movie a
pixel value instead of percent. But I figured I'd try the
<div> tag anyway, but no luck there. It constrains the flash
movie to the size of the <div>.
So changing my movie to a pixel value isnt really what I'm
looking to accomplish. (unless there's a way to assign a pixel
value, but still make it fill 100% of the window) Here is an
example of the site I'm working on:
As you can/will see, I have limited the amount of content in
the body, and I cant add anything below that because some monitors
wouldn't be able to scroll to it.
Hopefully this helps interpret what I'm trying to do.

  • Browser ScrollBar Problem

Hallo, i have a little issue. I have my flex application running in my Browser and the application is 1200pixels height so that the browser is enabling the scrollbar to reach the bottom parts. The problem is that inside my application i have another scrollbar which belongs to a list component and when i use the mouse wheel the list goes down but the browser page goes too due to browser scrollbar. How can i fix this problem??.. I shoud find a way to not make browser scrollbars listen to the mouse wheel event when i am on the list and to listen it only when i am not on the list... is that possible??
Thx and sry for bad english.

what you are asking sounds possible can you post your code on here so we can try to debug with you.
    Thanks

  • OATS - Browser is not getting launched when I click on the record button.

    Hi,
I've just installed Oracle Application Testing Suite in my machine. During the installation process I was intimated that the EmpAppServer in the installation path does not contain the jboss binaries. However, it allowed me to continue with the installation.
I've installed the OATS and the OpenScript. I need to record scripts for a web application. Now when I click on the record button, the browser is not being launched. I don't get any error message too. I'm not sure if this issue has got anything to do with jboss.
Can someone please help me out?
    Thanks!

Try to run the batch files in the OpenScript directory to disable and re-enable the browser helpers. Which browser do you have OpenScript set to launch, IE or FF? Which version of IE and FF are installed on your machine?
    \OracleATS\OpenScript

  • My Firefox window browser does not open at all. Tried everything. No window at all.

A few days back now, a message kept appearing that certificate had expired as 31/5/2011. I just cancelled that and went on to use the browser, Now the browser will not load any page at all.
Tried as many things as I dare.
    Thank you for your help.

    Hello everyone.
Hopefully this support article is what you need:
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+will+not+start
In any case, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author.

firefox plays video, but no sound. when I type about:plugins in location bar, it shows the firefox default plugin is not enabled. When I look at my plugins, it says it is enabled. I have uninstalled 3.6 and re-installed with the same result. Why do I have no sound. Computer plays I-tunes and all other sounds, just no web browser sounds.

Glad you seem to have sorted things out.
The warning about the warranty is light hearted, I think at one stage it warned "here be dragons" but also intended to make us think as it warns that making changes may produce problems.

I'm assuming this is a static web site.  Rename (F2) all your pages with .html or .htm extension.
.xhtml is not a valid extension.

My Macbook browser is not compatible with a business website I must use for work.  Is there a Windows compatible browser for my Mac?

If the site has been optimised for IE (which is non-standards compliant), the best you can try is to spoof IE from Safari.
I'm using an earlier version of Safari than you, so I hope Allan or someone will correct me if the procedure is different.
    First, go to Safari Preferences and enable the developer menu;
Then go to the menu and select User Agent - choose a flavour of IE.
Works about 50% of the time.
It won't work if the site is using Activex controls.
