Brush and Pencil tool not working in Photoshop CS5 trial

I dowloaded the Photoshop CS5 trial yesterday 2 days ago. Everything worked perfectly yesterday. Unfortunately, today...the brush and pencil tool doesn't work. Anyone have any idea why?

We need a few more details like what doesn't work
with the brush or pencil tools.
Provide a screenshot if you feel that would help illustrate the problem.

Local Adjustment Brush and Gradient Tools not working in LR3.2

I am not sure what i did, but those tool have stopped working. I don't know how i manged to do this or if it is a bug, but i noticed that the color palette is gone from the setting tab for these two tools. If you look on the right tab of the screen shot, you can see that where the colour box used to be, there's nothing. Not even the box with an "x." If i try and use either tool, the whole frame just turns pure grey. Any thoguths or Help would be much appreciated. I'm hoping that maybe i accidentally clicked or hit a key i didn't notice.

hi, my brush and pencil tool when on the workspace are now represented by a plus sign and dont do anything. i opened lots of different AI files and it was the same on all of them. before the plus sign icon it was the smooth tool icon, and it did not draw either. do you know what's going on???? i recently plugged in a new wacom tablet and maybe that had somehthing to do with it??????

Update your Wacom driver.
Go to www.wacom.com and download the latest driver for your tablet. The CDs that ship with tablets are generally several versions behind.

Text tool not working in photoshop (and illustrator)

The text tool is not working in my CS5.5 photoshop (nor illustrator).    Box appears, can't see the type while typing.   Layer descriptor shows the text but the text does not show in the workspace.   Read several forum comments.   Deleted preferences, reset character and paragraph pallets.   Font size is adequate, have tried several different colors.     PLEASE HELP.

Since I obviously do not have your technical skill, please forgive my lack of knowledge related to information you may need. System specs: Dell Alienware Quad Processor with max RAM (I process digital videos.) Windows 7 Operating System, Adobe Creative Suite 5.5
Language: English
Preferences: All were deleted per recommendation of Adobe Community Thread
Character & Paragraph Pallets:   Both were re-set to Adobe defaults per Adobe Community Thread
Font:   Calibri Regular, 14 point with 18 point row height.   AV horizontal and vertical are both 0. Text horizontal and vertical scale are both 100%. Baseline shift is 0. Text color is black (on transparent)
I have tried numerous fonts, font sizes and font colors.   Nothing shows up, but I know the text is there because of the layer label name.
Can you help?   If not, how to I reach Adobe technical support?

Spacebar shortcut for hand tool not working in Photoshop CC - have tried closing all other programs

The spacebar shortcut for hand tool is not working in Photoshop CC - as suggested in this form & others I have tried closing all other programs with no result. I have also reset photoshop to default settings & this did not make any difference either.

There may be a software conflict. I went through this today. When I did a search in Adobe foruns actually found tha answer on the Illustrator forum: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1027227?
What the problem for me was an app called - 1Password. I had opened it, but not given my password to login and it was on in the background. As soon as I quit 1Password, the spacebar Hand Tool worked.
Then I opened 1Password again, and logged in. This time the spacebar works.
Others mentioned conflict with Spotify. And Chrome too. Couple other things. Read that thread in the link above.

Pencil Tool not working after resize on CS5

Hi, just has the title says, every time i draw and resize, the Pencil Tool stop working, i need to close the file and open it again to have it work. Please any help will be valuable.

Burn and Dodge tools not working on b/w sketch scan

Hi, I may have somehow eliminated information in an image of a black and white sketch which prevents the dodge and burn tools from working...is there a common mistake which prevents these tools from working as they normally should on a black and white image with multiple shades? (The sketch is not pure black and pure white but has multiple gray shades...it "looks" like an image on which these tools should work.)
When adjusting Levels for the image all of its "information" seems to be clustered around the "0" point on the far left of the Levels adjustment slider, if that helps in understanding this problem....
Did I mistakenly somewhere along the line destroy information in this image necessary for these tools to work?

It is working properly. With a partially transparent layered image, only **some** of the visible tone is coming from the image layer. The rest is coming from whatever is showing on the layer underneath. Burn and dodge will only affect the layer you're working on. As I said, I could get get B&D to affect it a little ... and that's is exactly what it should do in this case. Because the pixels are partially transparent, B&D is only going to **partially** affect the visible tone. It's altering the pixels on the image layer, just not very much because there aren't very many pixels available.
Peel off white does an incredible job. However, I would use it only once. The fact that the sketch becomes a bit transparent tells you it's removing image information.

The feature "Save as" is not working in Photoshop CS5

Hello, I've downloaded Photoshop CS5 in trial mode but the "feature" "Save as" and "Save" are not working, I can't save my work, is it a restriccion for being in the trial mode?. I'm using Windows XP sp2 with 1.5 Gb RAM, 100 Gb HD and 2.6 Ghz Intell processor. Before the Photoshop CS5 I had installed the CS4 Suite and was working perfectly well. Could you help me with this?.

The trial version is the same as the full version except
for the 30 day limitation.
I think on windows xp you need sp3 for cs5 to work as expected.
Anyway that's what is says here:

Moving Tool not working in Photoshop Elements 12 in Yosemite

Hello, my moving tool for Photoshop 12 in Yosemite is not working. When I drag an object in the layer, it keeps snapping back to the center. I've tried closing other programs, rebooting, different files, made a new file, made new layers, nothing.
The only thing that works to free up the moving tool is using Command T. I see the bar with align center etc. which works but it won't let me free move the position with the move tool.
Is this a glitch? Is something configured wrong? Any advice would be appreciated.

We sincerely apologize for the problem customers are facing while using a trackpad with Photoshop Elements 11 & 12 on Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite).
We have been actively working with Apple to resolve this problem as quickly as possible. We're hopeful this will get completely resolved in an upcoming update of Yosemite(MAC 10.10).
In the meanwhile, you have two options to work around this problem:
1. Option1: Use a mouse instead of the trackpad
2. Option2: Install a plug-in which should workaround the problem
Plug-in installation instructions:
1. Close Photoshop Elements
2. Download this zip file to a location you can easily find (e.g. your desktop)
3. Unzip the file, WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin, and move it to the Plug-In folder:
• For Elements 12 – //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 12/Support Files/Plug-Ins/
• For Elements 11 - //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 11/Support Files/Plug-Ins/
You can verify the plug-in is installed by launching the Photoshop Elements Editor and choosing Help > System Info... Scroll to the bottom of the text in the dialog and look for the plug-in name "WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin".
Note: This plugin is a temporary workaround and should be used until this issue is addressed in Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite). Please remove this plugin once the issue is officially resolved by Apple.
If you are using a stylus in conjunction with a trackpad, you might see issues with your trackpad. Workaround in this particular case is to use mouse instead of the trackpad.

Marquee tool and shape tool not working properly

I have Photoshop CS five, and today while working in it, the behavior of all of my tools changed.
Tools are now defaulting to “select from center” mode, which normally requires holding down the option key.
As another clue, if I create a marquee selection, as soon as I release the mouse button the Marquis tool switches to “intersect with selection” mode.
I quit Photoshop and deleted all of my Adobe Photoshop preferences, however when I relaunched Photoshop the problem was still there.
I thought maybe my option key was stuck down, but when I tried typing in stickies, characters typed normally, so my option key is not stuck in the down position.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I actually spent some time with Adobe tech support working on the problem. You are correct it was a bug; they had me update my Photoshop AND delete this file from my preferences folder: com.adobe.Photoshop.plist — those two things did the trick.

PS CS5 - rounded rectangle and move tool not working..?

I have just noticed that my rounded rectangle tool is not working properly. When I click and drag nothing is visible, when I release it floods my whole image with my selected color. I have tried all of the other tools and they work properly. I have tried restarting, compared settings with other tools, and checked for updates. Nothing is working and any help would be appreciated.
Also, I have what appears to be a common problem with my move tool. I click, drag, and drop only to have the selected image snap back to its original position. I have an intuos 5 connected, is this the culprit?

I can't help with the snap to edge problem, but if you select your rounded rectangle shape tool, and click on the Cog in the Options bar, I suspect you have a fixed size set, and that it is bigger than your canvas.

Live Paint and other tools not working?

Most of the time while using Illustrator almost all my tools except for the pen tool do not work, as in the mouse icon turns into this circle with a line through it, and doesn't allow me to do anything on my layer, and it's just one layer nothing else. Why does this happen? I have a drawing that I image traced on illustrator, and would like to paint it now, but I can't use the live paint option. Sometimes the select tool doesn't select anything and it just disappears!
Can anyone help me with this?

I'm a complete beginner to illustrator and I thought it was just another small thing that beginners are not familiar with and that other people can relate? Anyway, I use Illustrator CC on a Mac. Here is a capture I made trying to use the brush tool:

Edit Audio with pencil tool not working LP8

I am using Logic Pro 8.0.2. I am trying to edit an audio track in the "sample editor" window to remove a couple of clicks.
-I am highlighting an audio track, and then opening the sample editor
-When I get to the spot that I want to edit - I am dragging the pointer tool over that area to select it
- I am selecting the pencil tool in the sample editor window. When I go over the area that I want to work on and click the mouse, the magnifier turns on instead

I'm running Logic8 on my 3.02 imac xtreme with Waves Mercury plugins with 4gig ram 10.5.5 and I'm trying to node a mac mini 10.4.11.
I'm getting the sync pending dull green on node enable tracks but NO actual node precessing at all
I've tried every conceivable comdination of plugins on trax Waves Non waves a mixture but still NO offload at all
Any ideas??

Selection and Type Tools not working in InDesign CC for Mac

I have just recently downloaded InDesign CC (I use Mac OSX.9.2) and got the World Tools plugin to typeset in different languages.
However, I am having trouble using the selection and type tools. In about the first half of the file, the type tool displays the pointer/dashed box/I-beam icon and doesn't put the cursor in the text when I click on it. I can't click to select text as I should be able to, and if I try to click and drag, all I do is end up creating another text frame. But in about the second half of the file, the selection and type tools work the way they should.
When I click and hold on the type tool, the cursor changes to the crosshairs icon for creating text frames and the "W: H: " dialogue box for text frames appears.
How can I get the tools to work properly in the entire document? Is anyone else having this problem?

@Cindy – usually all 3rd party developers will provide some information for installing and uninstalling their products. First see if you can find some information on their web sites.
Also there should be a dedicated Adobe Extension Manager app where you can look up the installed parts of InDesign. Since I do not have InDesign CC installed, I do not know exactly, but its name should be something like "Adobe Extension Manager CC".
If you start this app it will show all parts installed with InDesign (or other apps that are installed).
Usually at the bottom of the list are the 3rd party installed components. They do not state "Adobe Incoroprate System" as author. Never uninstall (remove) the Adobe ones!

If you select one, a new option is available at the right. In my case here the "Entfernen" button ("Remove" in English).
