BT Infinity - Slow - and resyncing often

Hi everyone.
I just got BT Infinity installed today (14.23) It was working fine for a few hours. I ran a speed test and the test varied 9mbs to 60mbs and the ping was 20/22ms. But now the speed has dropped significantly.
Also the hub broadband light turns orange about 4-5 times today. (it's re-syncing)
With my previous ISP (o2) it done the same thing. They changed something I think it was my profile or something to make it stable. Could the old problem be related to this?

All i can suggest is to try some more troubleshooting to see if its the PC or the HH to blame.
The first thing you could try is to use the maidenhead server on speedtest.net instead of the london one (as it could be the speedtest server giving dud readings )
What Home Hub Do You Have?
What Ethernet cable are you using? (can you try using a different one if you have one)
What web browser are you using?
and what Operating System is your PC running?
Are the latest drivers installed for your PC ethernet controller? (And is it a 10/100MB Controller?)
If you dont get the questions dont worry as I have put them in technical terms.
Just post back if you dont get them and I will try and explain it simpler.

I'm using mine right now to answer you and I've not had the issues you are having. Have you tried a Restore from Backup?

Infinity slow and unreliable

I've had Infinity 2 a few weeks now. Sadly it's not the 'wonder' product BT would have you believe.
Today I couldn't connect and then when connection was restored it was really slow. I'm paying for BT top product and it's a bit of a let down. Why was I getting a 'BT Wholesale' error page ? My wife has just texted me at work so say the internet has 'ground to a halt'.
Not happy.

Infinity slow and wont load pages, better if I swi...

I'm experience some very slow loading times with some pages and when loading videos on vimeo, youtube ect.
I also experience problems accessesing some pages at all, getting the connection time out message.
However if I select the BTWifi with FON or the BTwifi profiles from the HH3 I don't get any problems.
Videos load super fast and innaccesable pages suddenly become available. Whats going on?

same problem here, 3 hubs, 2 allegedly fixed faults at the exchange and four months of complaining and still no improvement. I'm using a wired connection. Unplug the HH from the mains and plug it back in clears the page turning problem but then it's back again. (India told me to do this)

Mac Pro laptop running very slow and freezing often

Recently my Mac has been acting funny. I will be surfing the net or just trying to check my email and the spinning wheel will come up and spin forever. Sometimes it stops and lets me continue, sometimes and stops for a few minutes and does it again, other times I have to restart the computer. I have plently of memory left. I have checked to see what programs are running, etc and nothing looks abnormal. However when I created a new user - everything works fine. So question - how do I fix my user so that works just as good as the new user?

How are checking your emails? I had a similar problem but surfing the web with Safari, then I discovered that there was an update for Safari, updated and the problem is gone. Working great.

Summoning max. courage, I did what you advised. Here is the result. What does this tell you? My Lion 7.2 (mid 2011 iMac) has several annoying glitches (which I have so far tolerated through gritted teeth) but none that have actually stopped me working.
BTW, I see several items involving CleanMyMac which I did not know I had. It is generally villified as a trouble-maker. Spotlight can't find an app. or a utility of that name. How can I get rid of what's there please? Just delete?

This is exactly what keeps happening to mine too. I was at a conference taking notes, and I was
using the Notebook template, and doing some audio recording simultaneously. About 3 hours into the conference (not consistently recording, but on and off with the sessions) my file wouldn't save anymore, saying something like "File cannot be modified while in use with another program" and "Invalid file name" when I would go back into my folder to look for it). I tried installing some updates from Microsoft, and when I restarted, I was at least able to open my old notes again, and so far it looks like the audio was working. However, today at the conference, the same thing happened again, but I wasn't actively recording any audio (though after I had copy and pasted my second file of notes into the original, I went back to using it after re-naming it).
Does the crash happen to you under similar cirucumstances? The update might help a little, but it is definitely not the solution. Does anyone have any solutions? Lion shouldn't be this buggy... I moved to Mac to get away from the garbage of bugs and compatibility issues...

Firefox 3.6.10 in Ubuntu 10.04 recently became very slow and often doesn't find websites, especially those in My Yahoo, whereas Chromium works fine. When searching for a website, a dialog finally pops up saying "Server not found" "Firefox can't find server at finance.yahoo.com" When searching for, say, M&T Bank, Firefox says "looking up dnssearch.rr.com" My Internet Service Provider" is Time Warner's Road Runner. I followed the directions for Firefox not finding some websites by changing my connection setting to "no proxy", by disabling IPv6 and DNS prefetching to no avail. I uninstalled Firefox and then re-installed it - no change. I went to Tools > clear recent history, but the latter was shaded and unclickable.

You can try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br />

why not try iStat and provide feedback output
what if any is showing for pageouts?
that would be a star
how much physicalRAM and what of repair the drive? safe boot? tried clone system, or try a clean install and start from there, it can be the best way to resolve or at lea,asr test, and for performing system repairs & maintenance

15" 2011 brain-bombingly slow and has a hobby of crashing as often as it can

I just bought my Mac Pro 15" in April to replace my netbook. I expected to get high performance for all that money.
However, its slowness almost competes with my old, cheap netbook. In addition to that the system and the apps (esp. iPhoto) casually crash. I've had a couple of serious problems with this mac, in one of which incidents the machine refused to boot, that required me to call customer service. I contacting customer service with this slowness and crashing issue, but having experienced how long it took to get my mac back to working with the Apple help only through the phone, I decided going to Apple store would be the best bet. However, I am traveling in one of the poorer countries in the world and will be for the next few months, and I do not think a visit is an option for me.
Has anyone else experienced this problem with the new mac? Are macs usually this ******** despite their fame? If this near $2k machine is as ******** as this, it makes me wonder if that money was an unnecessary donation to this company.

1. Booting speed for the system is usually fine. Booting speed for applications varies from time to time although the booting speed has not been the biggest problem. iTunes at this moment booted nearly immediately. I recollect at other times it has taken 0-10 s.
2. I usually use 3-5 applications at a time. I would normally use more but because of the slowness I have been limiting myself to these numbers. Crashes happen most with iPhoto. I think there may be a problem with the software, but for some reason I get an error message every time I attempt to update the software.
The system itself has crashed a number of times. It stops without warning, goes into the blue screen and either returns to the previous screen or shuts down every application and starts again (it has rebooted on its own a few times, but in other times it just refreshed its system without a reboot).
The slowness problem goes across every application which makes me think it's the problem with the OSX and/or the machine. It has been unexpectedly slow since the time I bought it. It may have grown slower recently if it's not my patience that's being depleted. The machine takes almost every kind of task, so often, very hard to process.
3. I do not think so. When Chrome crashes, which it has done, I know it's the problem with the brower because I experienced it with other laptops. However there have been instances where I have tried both Firefox and Safari as well as Chrome accomplish certain tasks and they all crashed. I think they were related to iPhoto. Javascript fails occasionally as well.
4. I have used it just two weeks or so ago because my system failed almost completely and I could not boot the computer. At that time I called Customer Service and the representative directed me to use the utility after doing many things to log into Safe Mode.
Is there a specific way to keep crash logs? Or does it just involve me writing down what happens? How can I document my MBP's performance?

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
(B) Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings for Wi-Fi, FaceTime, Message, Home Sharing will be reset

BT Infinity 2 very very slow and cutting out

Hi,
BT contacted me some months ago offering me a free update to get faster broadband speeds on the condition that I signed a contract for a further 12 months. I agreed to this but since then the speeds have been getting slower and slower and now at time cut out completely. Hardly an upgrade is it.
I've removed the game console and have less tablets now using the broadband, so I now have much less connected to the broadband yet it is still slower than before the upgrade.
I've tried having a live webchat to get the problem sorted but of course the signal keeps on cutting out.
Anyone else had any issues?

Can you put your telephone number into http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome and post the results (after removing your telephone number) ?
Can you log-in to your homehub and post the first 12 lines that show under the "helpdesk" tab, assuming that is, that you have a Homehub 5 ?
Can you carry out the "quiet line" test ? Using a corded phone plugged into the test socket on the master socket, dial 17070 and choose option 2. There should be no crackles, popping, buzzing, etc, in fact, it should be quiet........
