BT is blocking my forwarded emails !

I have a problem with receiving emails which are forwarded from the domain name I own.
That is I have an email address such as [email protected] which is forwarded to my BT email address such as [email protected].
In email testing I can, and other people can, send mail directly to my BT email account, ie to [email protected].
What fails is when email is send to [email protected] .  The mail either takes more than a day to arrive or it is bounced back to the sender after about 3 days.
Obviously I want to continue to use my email addresses at my domain name so I have independence from ISP specific addresses. ie I can switch my ISP, change my forwarding and everybody can still email my at the same address without noticing any difference.
This is the interesting bit :-
When I contacted tech support at Netnames (they do my domain registration and email forwarding) and I explain my email problems his first question was :  "Are you with BT Broadband ?".  When I said yes, he continued to explain that they and other companies (eg 123reg.com) have had problems over the last 7 months with BT greylisting their servers.  ie the BT email servers reject the forwarded email.  They tell me that BT are denying this is problem and won't admit it to their customers (ie you and me).  Also BT refuses to reply to requests for cooperation from these 3rd party companies
I spent 3 hours on a support call with some guy in India on Friday trying to get him to identify the problem.  At the end his only recourse was to state that he had checked everything and he could not find any problems because if email works direct to the BT address then that's all that is required.  Something I find incredible when as when I challenged him to send me an email to test it he said did not have access to email !  Obviously all the people who tell me that emails sent to me are bouncing must all be liars ???
Has anybody else got this problem and or a solution ?
How do I contact BT broadband complaints to tell them to fix the problem or loose my account ?
Neil

I have put the issue to Ian Livingston (BT Chaiman) and he has kindly forwarded my problem on to his probelm technical team.  Just hope this not another bunch of chocolate tea pots like the regular support team.
I am still waiting on the logs from Netnames.
My email is now working again after by-passing my BT email inbox with a new email account.
This is the gobbledegook from one the bounced emails sent to me by someone not on the BT network.
Will post the logs when I can get them.
Regards
Neil

  • ICloud server blocking Earthlink forwarded emails

Looks like a problem that has happened before with respect to blocking of Roadrunner emails sent to people with me.com email address has resurfaced, this time with Earthlink. I have an old Earthlink account (at least 20 years old, which I keep only because of the number of online accounts linked to this email - almost 1000), and I have email forwarding set up on it to forward all emails to my me.com account, where I can review it at home or on one of my mobile devices. It has been working well for about 8 years.
Today, however, messages sent to my earthlink.net address are being bounced back to the sender due to this error:
    host mx4.me.com.akadns.net [17.172.34.66]: 550 5.7.0 Blocked - see https://support.proofpoint.com/dnsbl-lookup.cgi?ip=207.69.195.100
It seems that the spam filtering service, proofpoint (who was at the root of the problem with roadrunner blocked emails before), has blacklisted several of Earthlink's IP addresses, probably because they were the source of some email spam. However, there are many legitimate emails also being relayed via these IP addresses, which are being blocked. I called Earthlink, and basically wasted 90 minutes talking to a level 1 tech ("try restarting your computer") and his supervisor ("it's Apple's fault, not ours"). I spoke with Apple, who was more receptive, but unable to help (escalated to iCloud engineers). I personally entered the IP information on ProofPoint's website via their online form for such inconveniences. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated.
As an aside, I wish I could just jettison Earthlink after all these years - it's an archaic system, with horrendous email. But, I just don't have the time to go to literally hunderds of websites to update my email address. Anyone have any solutions that have worked for them?
    Thanks!

Still no resolution on this issue after 48 hours. Emails forwarded from Earthlink to iCloud are still bouncing. I submitted the culprit IP addresses to Proofpoint (for me it was addresses in the range 207.69.195.98 - 207.69.195.101 - there may be many more, of course). If you haven't submitted this info to Proofpoint yet, it's probably a good idea to do so at:
    https://support.proofpoint.com/dnsbl-lookup.cgi
Enter the IP address that is being blocked (based on the email bounce message your sending parties receive), and then add your name and destination email address. Hopefully, Proofpoint will open up the corresponding IP range.
For now, I just added my Earthlink account onto my Mail.app accounts and onto to my iPhone (POP). I wish Earthlink had IMAP capability. What an archaic system!

  • In forwarding emails w/embedded photos, etc, only blank box w/red "x" is sent

I used to be able to forward emails with photos, documents, etc. embedded in the email, just as it was sent to me. I am able to see it/them when it is sent to me, but when I forward it on to others the only thing that shows up in the email they receive is a blank box with a red "x" in it-recipient cannot see what's embedded in that box.

Sorry for the delay in following up.
I only use Gmail occasionally, so am not too familiar with potential issues in forwarding.
One thought: If you use any site-specific script blocking such as NoScript or K-9, make sure that you aren't blocking anything that could be associated with Gmail.

  • Forwarding email to .mac problems, some emails come through, not others

i have a forward set up through my hosting to send emails from my 'old' email address to my .mac account. some emails come through, but in tests through mail.app, some do not. the forwarded email accounts seem to get to me 30 minutes after i send them, or not at all.
any ideas? i thought it could be a spam filtering thing, or that apple is blocking something? but it just seems inconsistent, as i've received a few emails, but others i sent from the same accounts are not showing up.
    thanks for any tips.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

  • User Mail filter refuse to forward emails

    Hi all,
I use the Messaging server with Calendar and SSO with AM. I have The Messaging server version:
Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2-4.03 (built Sep 22 2005)
    libimta.so 6.2-4.03 (built 04:37:42, Sep 22 2005)
All others type of filters I tested works, except when I create a rule to forward incoming email based on specific keywords (subject or sender doesn't matter).
I always get the email and another one with the subject: "Problem during delivery processing"
    and the body:
    Processing errors occurred during delivery:
    Recipient address: [email protected]
Reason: Error in sieve filter: Too many notifys specified
Delivery processing continued in spite of these errors.
The problem is I just put one email in the "forward email to:" field and the forward is not executed even if stating the delivery processing continued.
I don't see the forwarded email "stuck" in any queue. (imsimta qm)
I did the "imsimta test -rewrite -filter -debug [email protected]" but unfortunatly I can't make much of the listing of infos...
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks,
    Phil

    Hi Shane
    Hi Phil,
Are you saying that you created a new rule for a
different account on the same server and it now
    works, or a different server?
Sorry for the confusion: I create a filter rule to forward specific emails in users accounts (using the gui of uwc) and every time I do, it doesn't work. On all servers I installed soo far.
    I would be looking at:
    - software release differences (messaging server) if
the accounts are on different systems.
    - differences in the rules themselves (imsimta test
-rewrite -debug <address> will display towards the
end the rules as were retrieved from the directory
and the rules in the order which they are evaluated.
The second rule listing display is most useful)
Since you can retrieve the rule, you can see what
rule matched by doing the following:
imsimta test -exp -mm -block -input=test.filter
    -message=rfc822.msg
-> test.filter is the sieve filter rules for the
    user
-> rfc822.msg is an example email that isn't
matched. When I do that, everything is ok if the rule doesn't match, and when it matches, I have the same error message (previous post) that I have by email. Here's the whole thing:
    bash-3.00# ./imsimta test -exp -mm -block -input=phil.filter -message=mess.msg
    Expression: #RULE: $Name="for" $Order=1 $Type="DEFAULT_TYPE"
    Expression: Expression: require "notify";
    Expression: Expression: require "variables";
    Expression: Expression: #BEGINFILTER

    Expression: Expression: notify :method "email" :echo :options "[email protected]" "POSTMASTER-AUTO-FW:${1}" "This is an auto-forwarded message";
    Expression: Expression: stop;
    Expression: Expression: }
    Expression: Expression: #ENDFILTER
    Expression: Expression:
    Expression: Dump: (allof):1000002;0 2 18 (allof):1000002;0 1 15 header:2000115;0

    Dump: "Subject" list " Comments" list , " Keywords" list , 5
    Dump: "POSTMASTER-AUTO-FW:*" list "postmaster-auto-fw:*" list ,
    Dump: ! 15 header:2000115;0 3 1 :matches 8 "Subject" list "

    Dump: 1 "[email protected]" 1 "POSTMASTER-AUTO-FW:${1}" 1
Dump: "This is an auto-forwarded message" ; "" stop
Evaluation error: Too many notifys specified
As you can see, there is just one specified notify and did use the gui of uwc.
It could be the problem is as simple as an earlier
rule is being matched and the forward rule doesn't
get hit.I tested on different users, even on a server with just one user and one rule.
Thanks for the help so far, and the infos on how to check filter rules ;)

  • Apple mail vertical blue line to left of forwarded email?

Have an iMac Mountain Lion 10.8.2 using Apple mail. When I forward email I get a blue vertical line to the left of the forwarded mail or if I reply to an email & leave the received email in the replys string, I get a blue vertical line the length of the received mail. In subsequent strings the number of lines increases by one for each in the back of the string. I have tried cutting & pasting but can't get rid of the blue vertical line. With a message that has a number of vertical lines on the left side, I can't delete any of them to simply forward the email clean. How can I rid myself of those annoying vertical lines on the left of the message blocks! It did it on Lion & still does. see example below:

    Hi Paullythesolver,
I have used a combination of solutions that mostly (not 100%) work but are a laborous pain in the butt!
I checked your suggested solution and my Fonts & Colours  text box that was "ticked" was "unticked".
The Composing quote level box was already unticked - no action required there.
I will have to await another incoming "side blue lined" email to see if your suggestion worked - it does logically sound like a winner, but the proof is still in the pudding to be seen!
There has been so much traffic on this issue over the past 18 months or so with so many experiencing a similar problem. I do hope this puts the problem to rest once & for all!

    My wife cannot forward email.
I looked at my iPhone 4s and it has a bar at bottom. Hers doesn't.
She hates upgrades and I suffer for it. But I am in the trenches and I am still a believer in the product. Can I sit down now?
Oh yeah, the question: Why doesn't her iPhone 4 have a bar at bottom of her screen for the "garbage" and the "forwarding arrow" and whatever else is supposed to be there. The whole bar is gone. I will do a hard reset and hopefully that fixes it. I'm starting to get weary... send food and water until we can get the iPHone 5. I also set up a donation website for the expense, since we aren't eligible until end of next June for her only...

thank you!!! My wife says thank you!

  • Exchange 2003 Permissions Error when attempting to forward emails

Server 2003 R2 (fully patched as of 11/2013) running Exchange 2003 SP2 (Built 7638.x2) on ESXi 4.1; WinXP clients and Server 2003 Terminal Servers running Outlook 2003; Domain and Forest are running at 2008 Functional Levels.
Occasionally, some users are receiving this error message: "You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object.  See the folder contact or your system administrator" intermittently when attempting
to 1) forward email both to and from senders/recipients inside and outside the domain, 2) When attempting to modify the subject of a previously received email (I didn't know you could do that), 3) When attempting to open received attachments.
There is no discernible pattern to the users or the original senders of the emails.
Most of the results I've found when searching relate to NTFS permissions or a ReadOnly propery on items in the users's profile folder, or sending on behalf of another user - these either do not apply or have been verified as not the cause.
During the initial rash of problems when there was a problem with an attachment and we absolutely needed it, I was able to connect to OWA using a special administrative account with access to the mailbox, open the attachment and log out.  Once I had
done so with this account, the end user was able to open the attachment on their own without a warning.
Changes made to the environment prior to this issue that may be related (nobody remembers when exactly this started, so I can't state that it definitively happened after this change):
All servers were virtualized on ESXi 4.1 in late 2011; subsequently converted and migrated to Hyper-V Server 2012 in early 2013 (with the exception of the Exchange and SQL servers).
All 2003/R2 domain controllers demoted and removed; DFL/FFL raised to 2008; SYSVOL replication was migrated from FRS to DFS-R.
    Troubleshooting steps:
Exchange server and affected client computers have been restarted several times; the various exchange services have been restarted; permissions on the mailboxes and AD objects have been verified; event logs are generally clean with the exception of ActiveSync
errors for a single user not currently affected by forwarding emails, there are no other errors reported.
Per recommendations on another forum, I had enabled several diagnostic logs in the diagnostic logging tab of the server.  Unfortunately not much was found in the Application log even after filtering out the basics.  There were occasional errors
referencing User A failed to modify an item in User B's mailbox because access was denied; however, I was unable to correlate these errors to any reported incidence of the above message.
I created a new mailbox database on the same server and migrated all the mailboxes to the new database, there was no change; users immediately began seeing these errors.
Over a holiday weekend, I then spun up a new Win 2003 R2 server, with a fresh installation of Server 2003 R2 (also fully patched through 11/2013) running the same version of Exchange 2003 SP2 this time running as a virtual guest on Hyper-V Server 2012.
I migrated all mailboxes from the original mail server to the new mail server and it appeared that the problem was remedied; however, it has slowly started up again and is starting to become more frequent.
I'm really at my wits end with this problem and would like to get it resolved before we purchase and install our new Exchange Server later this year.

    Updates
Users have reported that they can forward the email from OWA; even after doing so, they are unable to forward from Outlook.  So either my previous notes on the issue were wrong, or this is just more of the "intermittent" nature of the problem.
I will have to investigate what logging options are available to me at the Outlook client level - any thoughts on that subject are also welcome.
Users have now reported that a previous (rarely used) workaround (the administrative account opening the email in OWA) no longer enables them to view attachments or forward emails in Outlook.
I'm still adjusting the various diagnostic logging settings to see if I can spot an event which corresponds to a reported occurrence.  The most unusual warning reported is the following:
    Source:MSExchangeIS Mailbox Store
    Category: Access Control
    Event ID: 1029
[email protected] failed an operation because the user did not have the following access rights:
'Delete' 'Read Property' 'Write Property' 'Create Message' 'View Item' 'Create Subfolder' 'Write Security Descriptor' 'Write Owner' 'Read Security Descriptor' 'Contact'
The distinguished name of the owning mailbox is /O=DOMAIN/OU=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=USER_B. The folder ID is in the data section of this event.
However odd these occasional warnings are, they do not appears to correlate to the reported permissions issue.  Everytime I've seen one of these events, I've inquired with "user_A" to see if they've recently seen the popup and in each case they have
    not.

  • How do I forward eMail from my Mac to iCloud and my iPad

Been using a Mac for many years, but earlier today I activated my first iOS device, an iPad. Am running OS X 10.8.2 and I have an iCloud account. I have multiple eMail accounts on my Mac. How do I get my Mac to automatically forward eMail to iCloud so that it's available for my iPad to receive it?
    With kind regards,

The way I have it set up is > Setup the email accounts on your iPad as you have them setup on you Mac, that way they will be delivered to both. On my iMac I have it set to remove emails from server but on the iPad I do not. I reciev all of my emails on both, but if I delete any from my iMac they are removed from my iPad automaticlly. (that way I do not have so much trouble when I get a lot of emails nneded to be deleted from my iPad.

  • Forward Email for one account to another domain?

I apologize if this is a repeat question, but I am still having problems setting this up.  Snow Lep used to have the ability to forward email for a user to another location.  I host my own domain with multiple users.  I want all mail sent to one of those users, in my domain, to go to another email address outside my dowmain.  Basiclly to do whatever process they "Forward mail" option in old Workgroup Manger, for a user.
I looked into the "Virtual Domain" stuff for postfix, and forwarding there, but from what I can understand, thats for Virtual Domains, not for ones that  your actually hosting.  i.e. Can't have domain.com in Mydestinations AND Virtual file.
So how do I acomplish this?
    Thanks in advance.

I was very happy to hear that Mail in iOS 4 would allow me to move individual email messages from one account to another, indeed from one folder in one account to another folder in another account. Of course, this has been trivially easy in OS X's Mail.app for ages.
I'm very disappointed to find that there's a gigantic gotcha -- I cannot for the life of me move an email received in (say) my Gmail account, or my me.com account, into any folder in my work Exchange (2003) account. I get the same message: "Unable to move message. The message could not be moved into the mailbox [foo]."
Is this in fact generally the case? If so, it should be owned up to.
With two Exchange accounts, Gmail and a private business account, I can't move messages from either account to the other. I'd love to know if there's a fix.

Additionly, the full address appears in the "To" window instead of just the name and without the email address. I have selected "Smart Address" from the Preferences menu, View section.

Why are you using a Hotmail or Live Mail SMTP server to send email with your Gmail account?
This is likely the cause of the problem. Use Gmail's authenticated SMTP server to send email with your Gmail account.

  • Forward email to a specific address to an Exchange mailbox

I would like to know if it is possible to forward email to a specific address (for an Identity that doesn't exist) to a user's mailbox.
Example: when our employees are terminated we delete their active directory accounts and email mailbox.  I'd like to be able to still forward any email to their old email address to their supervisor.
Alternately I could set up the terminated employee as a mail contact: could I then set up the forwarding rule?

Your iCoud account remains in iCloud even if your device is restored.  (In fact, you can't delete an iCloud account from iCloud, you can only choose to stop using it.)  If the device is restored, or it may no longer be signed into your iCloud account but your account will still exist in iCloud.
