BT netprotect...updated yesterday and now won't ac...

Hi!
During yesterday BT netprotect updated itself and I thought all was ok. Turned on the PC this morning to find a windows message saying security was at rislk and firewall and anti viral software were not turned on.
Cliked 'turn on' and seemed OK but go to BT netprotect to check and it is is still red (indicating action needed). I click on the 'activate' and nothing happens.
I use BT infinity (option 3) and windows 7. Have read McAfee's forum and can't see a fix.
Simple answer only please....pretty useless with a computer....

Well after trying everything I could think of to resolve this, nothing worked.
Uninstalled BTNP from this laptop and installed MSE (with McA siteadvisor) - WOW, the laptop is ruddy quick now
Will be dropping BTNP from the other laptop and the desktop in due course.
note to BT and McA - thanks, it's been reliable for me since feb09, shame you 'improved' it.

    iMessage and FaceTime went down yesterday for some people. Mine is still down. My iMessage is saying the same thing about being activated. Sounds like you are still down too. Ignore the status page that says everything is fine - it lies.

    Download iTunes using the tab at the top of this page, re-install.  Back up your computer first.

  • Firefox updated yesterday and now it won't load any webpages. Have reviewed articles on this problem and checked everything. Still won't load. All other browsers work fine.

    Have checked firewall and network settings and compared to other computers running firefox. All is ok, but firefox won't load any webpages. This started immediately after it updated yesterday. No error messages.
    Have been having problems with updates on serveral of our computers for a month or so. Previous problems have always been that firefox renames a file it needs by adding moz.backup to the file name and I have to search for the file and remove it. This time I'm getting no error messages.

    A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

    System restore can do that, I recommend to avoid using system restore, it can create problems as well as solve them.
    Try deleting the Firefox installation directory and then re-installing Firefox 3.6
    For 32 bit Windows the default location of the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory installation directory] is C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\

    Yes, I know King-Penguin....I'm just so frustrated and in a panic, that I was hoping the itunes geeks that sent out this falilure of an update would still see it, and feel bad. And maybe even send out a quick link fix it botton. Guess that's just a newbie way of thinking!

  • Software Update Yesterday And Now BBM Icon Is Gone

    My (Verizon) Torch 9850 had an icon that a software update was available yesterday so i down loaded it and installed it. Now my BBM icon is gone! I have  set the phone to "show all icons" and searched all the folders and still no BBM icon.
    I did a battery pull and still no BBM icon.
    I did a secure wipe(including applications and SD card) and still no BBM icon.
    App world still shows BBM installed
    Blackberry desktop shows it installed bu an update available. however when I click to update the device I get a message stating no updates are available.
    Please help!

    Go to your Applications list, find BBM, highlight it with your cursor, press your menu key and select Delete. Next, from your phone's browser type www.blackberry.com/messenger to reload it.

    The similarity led me to wonder if this was a TB31 issue rather than Windows version related.

    I now use gContactSync which also wanted to do some some reformatting, but the one bit that's survived intact is the Address Book. It would be odd for different contact sync tools to have trashed the mailstore and settings files, eh?
    I've also seen reports that MoreFunctionsForAddressBooks breaks auto-completion in TB31, but I don't see that happening on my trusty Linux box.
    I'm back at work this work after a break and some illness, and in that time away I was using exclusively Android and Linux. I'm not a big fan of the tablet and Android, but I'd forgotten just how painful and awkward it has become to use Windows. People, look around. There are free alternatives and they let you do it as you want, not as dictated by Redmond!
    I'm currently copying my important work stuff over to Outlook. I'm scared of what might happen next time if I inadvertently let TB "upgrade" again. :-(

    Close the App Store app, double click the home button, press and hold the App Store icon until it wiggles, press the X, open the App Store app again and you should see your updates.

    But iOS 7 checks to make sure that the lighting connector is certified by Apple. All Apple Lightning connectors and most Lightning connectors from recognized third parties are certified. But some third parties shortcut the certification process and these cables may not work with your phone.
    If you are not using the original Lightning connector or a connector from Apple try that first.
