Bug in PDF

There is a bug in the acrobat for ipad. When you have an interactive PDF and you have buttons linking to pages in the PDF, the buttons appear with a bluish box damaging the view of the interactive PDF.
Please let me know how to fix this or maybe is a bug in the app.
Thanks..
Felipe

What are you using to view/print the pdf's?
Make sure you have the latest Adobe Reader, found
here:
Adobe - Adobe Reader - Download
I'm using Preview. I did check it using Acrobat reader on Windows, and the problem still exists. I suspect there was an error made (by Pages) computing the edge of the rectangle for the gradient. It renders correctly in iWork '05.

  • Bug in PDF generation with Report Builder CF8

    Hello
there is a bug in the calculation of the left margin of a
    page.
I upgraded from MX 7.02 to CF8. My "old" Reports worked fine,
but when I export them to PDF an print them the left margin is
    different.
I'm using metric settings in the Report Builder. I created a
new Report with Left Margin 2 cm and a single Field with the left
Property = 1 cm (0.9879 cm). The printed paper with these poperties
where fine. I could measure appoximatly 3cm . But if I use Report
Left Margin = 1.27 cm and Field left Property = 0.35cm. The left
margin of the printed paper is only 1.1cm.
So it depends on the choosen Values of report left margin and
the left property of a field.
Does anybody else have the same problem?

I found this posting as I have now "rediscovered" this issue. I came to the same conclusion - edit ALT TEXT for every image.
However, I think it is confusing that these paths of image file are not considered Personal Information that can be removed using the Inspect Document feature (I tried - was not successful). The list of things to be removed using this wizard is quite extensive
    - and some of them less visible than these file paths.
It would be interesting to know if this is going to change with future updates of Word. Why is an ALT TEXT included at all per default? I think using the file path in ALT TEXT should be made optional. Is there a way to turn off this default embedding of
    the full path?
As the OP I also used Office 2013 on Windows 7 64bit.

  • Serious bugs in pdf and doc view

    Hello
I have looked on the forum for other postings on this and have not found them if they exist. I have had a Pre Plus for about six weeks (Verizon) and overall love it and am glad I got it. Hoping some things like GPS get improved (which I know is most likely Verizon not Palm) but this bug is the first thing that has the potential to seriously hamper my experience with the phone:
This week I took a work trip and before leaving added several (5-12) docs and pdfs to my Pre so I could access them on the fly during the trip when it was not possible or practical to use my laptop. This included some pdfs of directions and maps since the GPS is not up to snuff on the Verizon phone. Others were longer documents I needed to refer to when out in the field (ag related work visiting farms).
Here's the problem, which applies equally to both doc and pdf view:
-menu freezing: more than half the time the menu would freeze. In other words, not let me scroll. I could open documents on the screen but not scroll to see others further down.
-doc and pdf file freezing: the file would often work fine for a few minutes, i.e. I could zoom, move across the page with the touch screen, change pages, etc. with no problem. But then after a few minutes they would often freeze, allowing me to see only what was currently on the screen. Shutting down the app and reopening only worked sometimes. I often had to do that many (5-7) times to get it to work again. Maybe rebooting would have worked but the Pre takes way way too long to boot up for that to be at all practical in the context I was using it in.
Do these apps break down when too many docs or pdfs are loaded? I wouldn't consider a dozen too many so I am hoping the answer to that is no.
I really hope Palm figures this out and can fix it. (I hope they allow for more zooming while they're at it.) In the meantime, are there alternative apps to use for docs and pdfs? I would pay a reasonable price for it if it exists. I have only found ebook readers so far.
I also posted this on the precentral forum here
    http://forums.precentral.net/showthread.php?p=2467182#post2467182
and you'll see that although most people report that they do not have this problem, a couple of other people apparently do.  For me it is a big problemwhich if not fixed will affect decisions on future phones...
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Did you re-try cloning with CCC after you had first re-trashed the items *directly from the 502 folder window* you obtained via Go to Folder?
If you can see the items in the *Go To Folder> /.Trashes/502* window, then you apparently have *two different* .Trashes>502 folders. The items that keep re-appearing in your Trash icon window (the ones you did the GetInfo on) are in the HD>.Trashes>502 folder of your external drive. The Go to Folder command that I gave you is looking at the HD>.Trashes>502 folder on your startup drive. The Trash icon on the Dock may not look at that folder - trashed items on the startup drive normally go into Home>.Trash, a completely different place.

  • Bug in PDF and print output with gradients?

I've got a document that makes use of a gradient fill in a table, and I find that (at least for the < 2pt border widths) the border has a thin white line to either side. It shows up readily in both the print and PDF outputs. Is this a known issue? Where can I file a bug for it? I'm using iWork 6.0 with the latest patches applied. This all worked and looked fine under iWork 5.0. :-(

  • Adobe Reader / Pro XI bug with PDF as embedded object in Microsoft Excel

We are using Adobe Reader and Adobe Pro version 11.0.06, Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit, with a mixture of MS Office 2010 and 2013.
We have been able to reproduce a bug using Reader/Pro together with Excel, where Reader/Pro freezes when we preform the following tasks.
Open an Excel file where a PDF file is attached as an object in the spreadsheet
Double click and open the PDF file attached, PDF is opened in Adobe Reader/Pro
From Adobe Reader/Pro, click on the document on the Page Thumbnails, scroll the document up and down for a few times
Close the Adobe Reader/Pro, it freezes and the adobe process is starting to consume the system memory
This problem is happening on multiple machines with Adobe Reader/Pro 11.0.06 installed, regardless of the Office version and is reproducible. We did not see such issue on Adobe X.
Is there anyone reported the same?

    Hello,
I know this problem was reported many months ago, but I am also experiencing this exact same issue, and have found no resolution to it yet. My user has a simple PDF embedded into an Excel 2010 document. Double click the PDF and it opens properly in Acrobat. If I close Acrobat, Excel freezes in the background (not responding). I have to force quit Excel to get back to Excel.
Also, if I double click on Acrobat again to re-open the application, it won't open. If I check Task Manager after Excel crashes, I can see that Acrobat.exe is still running in memory, and I have to force-quit it before I can re-open Acorbat.
    Any progress on this issue?

  • Preview bug - merging pdfs inserts wrong file

I have consistently been able to reproduce this bug. I often merge PDFs using Preview, by dragging a file from the Finder to Preview's thumbnail sidebar open to the document to which I am merging.
And what happens is that when I do that, the file that actually gets inserted is a file that I had previously done that operation with.
    In other words:
I want to merge file A with file B, so I open file B with Preview, ensuring the thumbnail sidebar is visible. I drag file A from the Finder and drop it on top of file B's thumbnail. Hey Presto, the files are merged, and I save and close, and then delete file A from the Finder.
I then go to merge file C with file D. Repeating the process, when I drop file C from the Finder to the Preview sidebar, file A is what actually gets inserted into file D.
It's like it's cached and doesn't get overwritten by file C during the second process.

I haven't tried to reproduce the issue, but what happens if you quit and relaunch Preview before doing the second merge?

  • Bug in PDF pinch and zoom?

Hi, I have a big problem related the PDF pinch and zoom.
When I try to make an article with 2 vertical pages each containing one imported PDF and 1 horizontal page contain two imported PDF, the result is a simple jpeg page with no pinch and zoom.
The strange thing is that if in the same article I add more vertical and horizontal pages, the pinch and zoom works!
I use the latest version of Folio builder and Folio Producer and, off course, I follow the normal steps: I choose PDF when I create an article, I use iPad and not Android and the PDF zooming is enabled in Viewer Builder.
I need to have 2 vertical pages and 1 horizontal to adapt an a paper magazine (I know the DPS has not been made for this but my publisher want to publish all our magazine with this platform, we also have a magazine specifically designed for the DPS ). My "idea" is create a stack every two pages to allow rotation between pages remaining on the same pages and enable the horizontaly flow between "articles" but if the pdf are transformed in jpeg I can't proceed...
It's a bug or I missed some step?
Thanks in advance for your answers
Claudio (from Italy, sorry for my english!)

I think there might be a bug here.
I've successfully created a pinch zoom folio using the sidecar.zip files posted by Klaasjan.
However if I import my own article (_h and _v both set to iPad dimensions and containing a simple text field of text).
If the article format is set to PDF, once created and I view the Properties panel, the Smooth Scrolling option is set to Horizintal only and greyed out so it cannot be changed. So no pinch/zoom is available.
If the article format is set to Automatic, once created and I view the Properties panel, I can set the Smooth Scrolling property to Off (Snap to page) and tick the Horizintal Swipe Only checkbox (so I'm matching the setting of the sidecar examples).
However, when I the Update the article to the Folio Producer and then check the article Properties again, the Smooth Scrolling has reverted to Horizontal Only. So again, no pinch zoom.

  • Bug in PDF Report generation?

    Hi everyone!
We have a problem! We need to print user data, including an initial password, on paper, one user per page. In the report section there is a choice of number of users per page.
However, if one(1) user per page is chosen, the PDF-generator produces a document with only one page, and just one user, where it should be about 40 (test environment).
Just running the report in the browser produces a corrects number of pages according to the number of users.
Is this a bug? Are there any workarounds?
    Thanks,
    Anders

We solved but not so sure about the cause.
It had something to do with character encoding in PDF reports.
Thank you for all that read the question.

  • Bugs in PDF workflow/ Quartz Filters?

I've  noticed several issues with PDF workflows in Lion that seem to have gone wrong. Whether deliberately or not, I don't know.
    1. If you Export a PDF from Preview with a Quartz Filter, that filter is not applied to the copy of the PDF in Preview's window, though the file on disk does get the filter applied. If you close and reload the PDF, the effects of filter will be displayed.
    2. If you create a new Quartz Filter in ColorSync Utility, it doesn't work.
Even duplicating an existing system filter, like "Gray Tone", doesn't work when you apply it to a PDF document in ColorSync Utility.
    3. If you do have any user quartz filters, they don't show up in Preview's Export file dialog, unless you copy them from ~/Library/Filters to ~/Library/PDF Services.
There are several webpages about this.
    4. Save As PDF-X has disappeared from the PDF button of the print menu.
I have seen other webpages that mention this.
All these issues are on both of my Macs, so I don't think it's a local problem, though I would be grateful for any confirmation.

    Thanks Benwiggy for that tip.
I am still running Snow Leopard due to things dropped in Lion.
I needed fax capability before I could move to Lion.
I was also waiting for the bugs to get worked out because I will lose some time when changing over.
I still have the menu item with Snow Leopard but the work flow for PDF-X is now broken as well.
I have not always had Acrobat pro.
I am famialure with inserting, extracting, and typing information on PDF documents as one would need to do in an office.
I had always used preview and the PDF-X "save as" feature to embed fonts.
I see there is a save as format to  "PDF/X" in Acrobat Pro v9.0.
There is a settings button next to the save as box.
It has four different settings or flavors of PDF/x:
    PDF/X-1a
    PDF/X-3
    PDF/X-4
    PDF/X-4p.
Then there is a conversion box that allows input of a "conversion profile".
There there is a viewing or printing condition box as well.
As you can see I don't work with colors much.  It is all about preserving the text and images in a document as everything is usually black and white or grey scale.
What setting for PDF/X would you suggest if "font" embedding was an issue and it was desirable to preserve the text and images as they were, without regard to color correcton.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

  • Acrobat pro xi - bug creating pdf from website

    Hi there,
I'tried to create a pdf from a website. Problem is, that within a paragraph the last non-breaking space is moved by Acrobat to the start of the next line. The whole paragraph - expect the first line - is intended. Any ideas? Or a bug?
    Thx for feedback!

    Hi networker_mf
Could you please share the following details so that we can help solve the problem?
    1. The OS you are using and its version - Win7/Win8 or Mac OS 10.9/Mac OS 10.8?
    2. Is it 32-bit or 64-bit OS?
    3. Acrobat version you are using 11.0.7 or 11.0.8?
    4. Are you trying to convert from a browser? If yes, then which browser and the browser version?
    5. Is this happening for all websites or specific website? If it is a specific website, could you please share its url?

  • Bug:Downloading pdf file from the web, file name in dialog box populates with incorrect file name

    Hi Gurus
When downloading any pdf file from the web using adobe Reader X the file name dialog box populates with incorrect file name
compared to the saved file name of the document downloaded.
    Clarity
    1. Download any pdf file from the web
    2. Click File, Save as note the populated File Name
    3. Compare the populated file name with the saved file name of the documant yuo are downloading.
    4. The file Name is incorrect...
Is there any work around on this issue? Can someone please help?..
    OS:Windows7
    Reader: Adobe Reader X
I've tried a couple of other versions and still get the same results...

Are you downloading the file (right-click, save link as), or just opening it by clicking it?
If the latter, then what happens is the file is loaded to the temporary internet files folder by IE and assigned a temporary name, which is then used when you're trying to save it.
You can test this out by going to File - Document Properties before trying to save and looking at the file's location.

  • 2 Bugs in PDF Form Field Rendering

Both of these bugs appear when "Show border hover color for fields" is on.
In XObject streams used for Text Widget Annotation appearences the BMC operator does not properly respect whitespace. To reproduce:
Create a fillable form field with a text widget annotation.
Fill in text in the field, save the document
Edit the content stream of the appearance stream used for the widget so that there are two spaces between /Tx and BMC instead of 1.  Be sure to shorten the content stream by 1 byte (shorten a string by a byte or remove a leading 0 in a decimal) when making the change so as not to change offsets.  Save the file.
Open the file in Acrobat and note the text doesn't appear.  Turn "Show border hover color for fields" off and the text appears.
In XObject streams used fo all WidgetAnnotations, the general color operators, CS, cs, SC, and sc are not respected.
Create a fillable form field that uses /DeviceGray SC 0 sc to set the text color (this can be done by create a text field and filling it with a lot of repeating non-white space characters and then replacing the 0 g with /DeviceGray 0 sc then shortening the text string to keep the stream length the same.  Save the file.
When the file is opened in Acrobat, the field will appear blank until "Show border hover color for fields" is turned off.
    An example file is here.
This file has several fields, two which are prefilled.  The first field contains filled in text but does not show (it appears when you turn off "Show border...").  The second is visible.
By editing the raw data, the second field (object 13 0) can be changed to exhibit both bugs.  To exhibit the BMC bug, insert a second space between /Tx and BMC and remove a space elsewhere.  The exhibit the second bug (after restoring BMC), change both "0 g" and "1 g" with "/DeviceGray cs 1 sc" and "/DeviceGray cs 0 sc" respectively (there is enough blank spaces to do that).

Bugs must be reported via the official route at http://www.adobe.com/go/wish

  • Possible Bug in PDFs created from a common template

At work we've encountered an odd problem that seems to be growing.
    Our printer setup:
    HL-8050n and a HP LaserJet 5550.
    Process:
We have a Word template we use for all documents.
We convert all documents to PDFs before sending them to clients.
    The Problem:
Over the past few months, a specific user I'll call Sam kept having problems with PDFs that wouldn't print to the HL-8050. The same PDF would print fine to the HP 5550 though. When this problem occurred, any other document would print fine to either printer (text files, picture, other PDFs, etc). When transferred to another machine, the same PDF would still not print.
If you watch the printer, it begins to process the document and then flashes "Ignore Data" or "Data Error." Then the document is never processed.
At first, only Sam had the problem. Then other users had the problem, but only with documents created by Sam. Now, several users are being affected by the same problem no matter who created the document.
I don't believe it is the printer because it will print any other type of document, including other open PDFs, when this strange problem occurs.
I do believe it might be related to the Word template we use. Previously, not all users had the same template type (for design reasons). However, we've switched and now the template is the same for all users. The template is on a shared network resource, is not writable (except by root - that is how locked down it is), and is only readable. The problem has expanded since the use of the common template.
Something seems to be happening when the users export the document from Word to the PDF format.
Also, this only occurs on Intel based Macs. Not on PCs. And it doesn't affect the one non-Intel Mac in the office. Another note: when you view the affected PDFs in a folder, the icon is the PDF icon. However, when dragged to the desktop, the icon changes to a generic icon even though the file extension is the same.
Has anyone else had weird printing issues with their documents?
EDIT: UPDATE: Printing the document from the built in Preview application is successful. But printing from Acrobat 8.0 Pro is not.

I asked this morning, and she can print PDF documents not created from the word template. Some PDFs from the template work and some don't - I haven't been able to narrow it down to a specific factor.
I've repaired the permissions on the file as well as on the entire machine. And the version of word is Office 2008 fully updated.
I'm tempted to mark it off as an issue with the HL-8050n. But seeing as printing from Leopard's preview app works perfectly, it must be an Acrobat problem.
Is there a way to run Acrobat in a debug mode or to get some sort of detailed status messages from its printing attempts?
    EDIT/UPDATE:
The printer uses the HL-8050n BR3 driver. However, the problem persists even if I change the driver (I've used Adobe drivers, generic post script, similar models to the HL8050). They all result in a print from Preview but not from Acrobat.

  • Bug in pdf conversion?

  • Reader 9.4.6 bug displaying PDFs from Autocad

I've received several architectural drawings produced from Autocad as PDFs. All of them display correctly in Reader 9.4.6 for Windows, but in Reader 9.4.6 for Unix, some dashed lines are missing from the PDFs when viewed on the screen or printed.
When I look at the document properties in Adobe Reader, it shows PDF producer as "Acrobat Distiller 7.0.5 (Windows)", and PDF version as "1.4 (Acrobat 5.x).

    - If you about>plug-ins says Adobe Reader, that's what you have (and not Acrobat which unlike Reader is a paid program)
    - Reader X provides certain commenting tools. You should be able to add comments and highlight text using commenting tool
         - Reader 9.4.6 does not have free commenting tools, there can be certain special PDFs where this is allowed but not generically
    - The paid product - Acrobat will let you comment any PDF as long as the author of the PDF has not applied security to the file disabing it
    - Both Reader 9.4.6 and 10 are free products from Adobe. As I note earlier in my reply, only Reader X has free commenting. Both Reader X and Reader 9 will let you view and PDFs and comments.
    - You can develop plug-ins for both Reader and Acrobat products using the free SDK. For Reader, you need to get a special certificate (available at small cost) that needs to be embedded in your plug-in.
