I'm actually quite surprised that this nees to be reported as a problem.
Why is it that the "World Clock" widget used in the dashboard doesn't have, built in, the time zone "GMT"?
Yes, I can add it myself using the instructions on the net but it just seems so wierd that it's not in there to begin with.
So, please, take this as a bug report/feature enhancement request to correct this oversight.

GOOD FEATURE ENHANCEMENT REQUEST: Locking Projects

I have an excellent Feature Enhancement request for iLife '08 & wanted to post it somewhere in hopes it gets to the hands of the right people that can make things happen so I'm not wasting 5 minutes posting.
I (like anyone) like saving my iLife Printed Books, Calendars, etc. on my MacBook so I may always order more copies if needed. However, I fear somewhere somehow someone will be playing on my Mac & will accidentally move stuff around or even delete text / words / layouts / effects from an iLife printed project of mine which I ordered & may want to reorder years down the road.
*I'd like an advanced options area with options typically displayed in any kind of publishing software. Options in mind include "Group Objects", Ungroup Objects, Lock, Unlock, etc.*
Does anyone else here agree with me??

To add to Larry's suggestion....passwords and protected accounts are always good:
1. Put your iPhoto Library(ies) on an external drive and eject or disconnect the drive when you are not using the computer. Then, no one else can get into your projects. I have ten iPhoto Libraries on my external drive.
2. Make an iPhoto Library just for your projects and put that one on an external drive. That way, your photos are available to whoever wants to view them, but the projects library can be left alone.
3. Have you considered not letting others access your computer without your permission? If they are not responsible enough, setting up different user accounts would be the way to go. You can limit their access to your files.

Mail enhancement request

I have submitted this before but there has been no response so ....
I would like to have "last" and "next" (forward/back arrows) in the mailbox sidebar to allow me to pop back to the mailbox I was viewing before I took a detour to look for something in a specific folder.
For those of us who have Mail windows open to more than one mail server, this would be a real convenience.
I often find I have "returned" to the wrong account and now have 2 windows open to the same IMAP server ...

Alternatively, if you want to report this to Apple, send a bug report (or enhancement request) via its Bug Reporter system. Join the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report/enhancement request. You'll get a get a Bug (ER) ID number; thus, starting a dialog directly with engineering.

The best way to submit a bug report or feature request is to use the bug-report/feature-request form.

Dun tink that creative customer support sucks cos I had been dealing with them in the past and I can say that their service are quite gd and fast. If you wanted a refund, I tink you need to contact the store that sells you the product. Dun tink creative will refund you though.

Enhancement request: Bulk edit features

As much as I love Apex and think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread (what's so great about sliced bread anyway!), after one gains a certain amount of proficiency with using the tool, one realizes that there are many areas where the Builder application simply gets in your way. You know exactly what you want to do, you know how to do it, but the Apex Builder doesn't support a "do this 20 times" feature!
For instance
1. Deleting multiple pages - This came up on another thread recently. The Builder makes you click 2 buttons (Delete and Confirm) to delete a page and then takes you to page 0 (or the previous page or something) and then you need to go back to the next page and repeat the process.
There should be a "delete multiple pages" feature in the Builder
2. Creating a list - I have a bunch of links/URLs that I would like to create a list from. The Builder interface (tabular form) has us add each list entry at a time.
I would prefer that it has a honking big textarea where I could dump all the links at once and it creates all the list entries at once. I could always go and tweak individual entries if I like.
Same thing for adding to other Shared components like LOVs, breadcrumbs, tabs, etc. I am not saying a textarea-based interface would work for everything, but anything has to be better than doing it one by one.
3. Access to the Report Column Attributes page - This is too painful to access.
Click on Edit page, click on Report, click on the column you want. 3 clicks!
Instead, there should be a Quick Edit link next to each report column when the page is run that pops up the same page.
4. Attaching a authorization scheme (or condition or build option or any applicable thing really) to a bunch of components at once.
The Builder should have a nifty search page where we could search/filter (by name, component type, page#, etc) for the components we want and then allow us to apply a an "action" (i.e. auth. scheme) to all the selected components at once. Doing this one by one is error-prone, time-consuming and just plain boring!
That's all that comes to mind at this time, I am sure others will have more.

is very easy to bulk change (on the back end); the hard part is devising the proper screens for bulk change (font end)
2. Absolutely, agree 100%. Which is why it might make sense for Oracle to expose metadata manipulation APIs (apex_metadata package similar to dbms_metadata!) so that power users can effect changes to the application metadata without going through the Builder at all!

Right, but realistically speaking, you can never anticipate and build screens for all the things we would like to do. Which is why a command-line API would be invaluable.
Just recently, I needed to change a bunch of HTML regions' templates in a application from Report Region to Hide/Show template. I couldn't find an application report/bulk edit page that let me do this, it was quite painful to do in the Builder.
Another case in point: I used the "Form on SQL Query" wizard to quickly create a form page with a bunch of fields. But unfortunately, unlike the "Form on Table wizard", this wizard is not smart enough to create page items with a display-as depending on the datatype of the columns in the query. It creates all the form items as Text Fields. :-( There is no bulk-edit page (that I could find) that lets me change the display-as property for multiple items.

Adding insult to injury. Adobe's Wishlist / Bug reporting doesn't work.

I sure hope Adobe is reading these forums, because I haven't been able to submit a single bug / feature request through the proper channel, and I've given up trying. It's one thing to make is all BETA testers without warning us. It's just fanning the flames of fury when Adobe Staff tell us to submit a bug. It's at least implied that Adobe will not be reading / hearing the messages on this forum. And I can't even submit a bug report because that form is broken!
I've spent around 24 hours so far BETA testing their software for them, so I hope they are reading these forums with gratitude for our free services.
Unfortunately, I must get back to work, now. No more time for BETA testing today.

Copy/pasting is often the culprit when bug report/feature requests fail. The was a problem some time back when we were copy/pasting suggested text from a forum post. While it appeared there was a character limit (and there probably is), I suspected that invisible "junk" (html code or Word stuff) was being pasted. I have better luck pasting from a pure text editor. I have best luck typing it, and copying from the bug/feature form to keep a copy.
Another thread today complained they could not post a link in a bug report. I have had no difficulty posting a link to a forum thread.
There are of course times where web submissions fail for no good (apparent) reason. I find that very frustrating; don't get me started on Adobe forums and Jive. But as far as I know, the bug/feature system is not part of that.

BUGS and FEATURES REQUESTED. Please add to it.

I've been using the z10 for the past couple weeks and wanted to start a thread of comprehensive Bugs and Features Requested.
I've labeled Bugs by letters (A,B,C...) and Features Requested by numbers (1, 2, 3...) so that others can add sequentially.
BUGS
(Not listed in any particular order)
(A.) Contact App adds current date as birthday. When I edit my contact, the current date gets listed as the birthday in local contact.
(B.) Duplicate telephone numbers listed. Telephone numbers show up twice in my Contacts (e.g.., if I have the contact's cell saved in (000) 123-4567 format and the person has the number listed in Facebook, I get a duplicate entry of +10001234567).
(C.) Telephone numbers and emails are not actionable in Web pages. In webpages, I can't click on telephone number to call (e.g., I look up a phone number for a restaurant). I should be able to easily call or copy into the Phone App or E-mail App.
(D.) Auto capitulation for words on the word substitution list is wrong. For example, when the word substitution contains more than one word. I have "ru" change to "are you" but if the first letter is capitalized (R) then both words become capitalized words (Are You). I used to have shortcuts like "mysig" to create email signatures with legal disclaimers but I can't do that now.
(E.) Backspace delete doesn't work consistently. The Shift+Delete function seems only to work after moving the cursor. This feature is the Alt+Del action to delete words after the cursor.
(F.) All Emoticons do not list. Emoticons do not all fit on the the two screens (lists) of emoticons. I.e., two columns are missing from view and can be seen when sliding (swiping) between the lists. Also, sometimes when I select an emoticon, it doesn't correspond with the picture of the one I intended. I believe this error is related. As a separate note, there should be a way to see the underlying symbols of the emoticon. (Often times, other people don't have BlackBerrys so I'd like to know what symbols would be sent--my prior 9800 would show the characters as i scrolled through them).
(G.) BlackBerry keyboard doesn't always work in input fields. E.g., certain Web pages. (I found a work around; two finger swipe up from the bottom makes the keyboard appear)
(H.) Sent messages stay unread. This seems to be an issue when an app sends an email (e.g., share article). The email with the sent indicator (checkmark) stays bold and I have listed 1 unread email. I can't mark as read/unread but if I delete the sent email, my unread message gets cleared.
(I.) Contact already added but I get the option to add instead of view contact. For some contacts, I get the option to add to contacts in the action menu cascade when that person is already in my address book. This bug is for emails and text messages.
(J.) Cannot call from text message. When I hold a text message and select call under the action menu cascade, the OS opens up the phone app but doesn't call.
(K.) Composing messages by name. When composting messages, the input must be by first, middle and last name. It should be, instead, by string and include nickname. E.g., if the person's name is "Andrew B. Cameron" I must type the name in as such. I can't type in "Andrew Cameron" or "Andy Cameron."
Features Requested and Suggestions for Improved User Experience
(In no particular order)
1)      Option to reply in different ways from the Call List. Be able to select a name in a call list and have options to call, text or email the person. The action menu allows calls to other numbers but I can't choose to text or email the contact instead. Sometimes, I missed a call and want to reply via text because I’m not able to talk. (Long hold on the Torch 9800 trackpad button brought up the action menu allowing me to call, text, view history, add to speed dial, e-mail, delete, etc.)
2)      Option to reply in different ways from the Hub. Related to above, when selecting an item in the hub, have the option to contact the sender or caller with multiple different ways.
3)      Only show number once in contacts application. Tap on the number to bring up the "action" cascade menu with options to call or text the number. Why is the same number listed twice (once to call and below again to text it)?
4)      Timestamps for individual text messages. I can't tell exact time on individual text message if it comes in near the time of another text. All messages are in one "bubble."
5)      Ability to select MMS or text for a message. Sometimes I write a text longer than 160 characters and I prefer it to be sent in one message (i.e., MMS mode) rather than being broken into one or more standard text messages. I had this ability with my 9800.
6)      Send button should be moved for text messages!!! Why the heck is it right underneath the delete button?!? Or next to the period button? I often times have accidentally hit send when composing text. It's very annoying and embarrassing. (Also, what happened to the ability to hit enter for a return carriage to next line?)
7)      Bigger magnifying glass. My finger is often over the area I need to place the cursor. I find it difficult and erratic to place the cursor.
8)      Select all option. Add the option to select all text in action menu cascade.
9)      E-mail recipients and message headers. Difficult to tell if you are one of many email recipients. Can we have a way to pull the email down to see the list of recipients rather than have to click to expand the header info? I know this request is a little picky, but that's how it was done in the previous BlackBerry OS which I preferred; it is easier and faster to pull the e-mail down and 'peek' to see which e-mail box received the message, message status, from and to fields. This change would be consistent with BB's flow/peek rather than click.
10)   Browser navigation. Hold down back arrow to get a list of recently visited websites similar to a desktop browser.
11)   Dark/Night mode. A night mode (maybe in the drop down menu) to change all the white and bright backgrounds to black or dark which would be helpful when reading/viewing things at night in bed/etc.
12)   Number of contacts. Ability to see how many contacts I have.
13)   What happened to groups or categories? I'd like to have back the ability to filter or see categories and also a way to contact everyone in a category. E.g., family or friends or coworkers, etc.
14)   Shutter sound mute. I was at a wedding and wanted to take pictures during the ceremony but the shutter would was too loud.
15)   East Asian Language Input. I bought my parents two Samsung Galaxy S3 phones over the weekend because they need Korean input (and the Kakao talk app). (BTW, S3 is a great phone but I prefer the Z10 after having the weekend to use the Android phones).
16)   Ability to freely place icons on the homesreen. Currently, icons are forced top left-right-to-bottom. I prefer to space my icons out.
17)   Add a contact to the homescreen. I'd like to place a shortcut (similar to a Webpage) to the homescreen for a contact which will open up the contact. Android allows this feature and so did my previous 9800.
18)   Search Contacts by nickname. The contacts app doesn't allow me to search by, e.g., Andy, even if I have that as my contact's nickname. The previous OS allowed this type of search which was very helpful.
Finally, as a note, I've been using the BlackBerry Z10 for the past 2 weeks and it's a great platform. I just bought two Samsung Galaxy S3 phones over the weekend for my parents so they could use the Korean language input and related features so I spent a lot of time with the Android platform, setting it up and teaching them how to use it. The S3 is a great phone too.
I prefer, however, the way BlackBerry has done their OS 10 and the integrated management of messages.
It's too bad that BB doesn't have Korean input and apps like Kakao Talk or I would have considered it for them.
The BlackBerry 10 is a great platform and I look forward to the continual improvements that will only make the experience better.

Bug/Enhancement Request

When creating a new Form on a Table with Report, when you are Defining the report page, if you change the Page Name and Region Title and then select breadcrumbs, your changes are lost. The page number remains but the name and title revert back to the default.
Also, we have a standard naming convention for the Page Name and Region Title. Can we setup our standard in the APEX Administration some place? If not, that would be a nice enhancement.

Bug Report: DW CS5.5 Crashes Every Time On An Image Map

I am posting this in lieu of contacting Adobe support. I went to my account to send Adobe a bug report and was told I needed to contact support via phone. That's pretty crappy. As a licensed user who's owned it less than three months, there's no direct path to tell you guys that your software is broken?
Here's the deal: I am working on an HTML landing page with one image map attached to one image. Literally, every time I make a modification to the code near the image (tied to the image map) then click into the live preview window, Dreamweaver CS5.5 crashes like a 70-year old on a bar of soap on the floor of the shower. It crashes hard. My only relief is to save the file before clicking into the live preview window. That's my only workaround to the problem.
But I'm left amazed that I can crash it every single time over an image map, flicking from the code to the preview pane. You would think that at version 11.5, a minor thing like that wouldn't hemorrage the supposed creme de la creme of web design software.

Bug or Feature? Different behavior after 1.6.0_02 in both Firefox & IE6/IE7

I have been testing a small java applet for a phpbb mod, named Proxy Revealer
Basically the java applet "phones home" (connects back to the http host serving the applet) via a Socket connection to establish a direct connection, then basically writes a custom HttpRequest string with some parameters passed to it from the php script's HTML, so it looks like:
GET /probe.php?mode=java&ip=initial_external_ip&extra=random_unique_identifier&local=LAN_IP&vendor=java_vendor&version=num&user_agent=browser
which would allow the php script on the host/site to verify the client's IP address, and compare it with the initial IP that requested the page which loaded the applet, as well as Internal LAN IP if user is behind a router/NAT
This allows the php script to unmask & log proxied users for security purposes, in case of spamming/trolling on the forum, in an attempt to thwart the average spammers/trollers at the least.
The applet and the code works as desired and in various browsers, but only on JRE 1.6.0_02 and earlier releases...
It seems ever since JRE 1.6.0_03, this has stopped working when the end-user has HTTP Proxy configured in the browser.
I tested latest JRE as of date, ver 1.6.0_07, with IE6, IE7 & Firefox 2.0.0.15 and 2.0.0.16 and it still exhibits this odd behavior.
This is what appears in Java Console when I try to visit the page serving this applet with an HTTP proxy configured in browser:
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:80 connect,resolve)
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the resolved IP of the server host that is hosting the applet, so basically the same origin....
If I disable the HTTP Proxy configured in the browser, the applet connects back fine. So it only happens when HTTP Proxy is configured in browser..
Is this a new feature or a bug??

Both of these demos work with JRE versions 1.6.0_02 and older, but fail to work (in both IE & FF) with JRE 1.0.6_03 and newer - up to 1.0.6_07 which is latest as of date

Thought I might elaborate on the details of the bug report I made, perhaps someone needs to add to it or needs to understand the problem better.
Description:
Unsigned applets cannot connect back via Socket to the originating host (from codebase) when a Proxy is configured in user's browser (IE7/IE6//FF3/FF2 tested) and when origin host's IP address doesn't resolve back to the same hostname.
Example:
www.hostingsite.com resolves to 1.2.3.4
but, 1.2.3.4 resolves back to 4.3.2.1-somewebhost.com
Affects JRE versions 1.6.0_03 - 1.6.0_07
This wasn't a problem in 1.6.0_02 or prior versions according to my tests.
An AccessControlException is thrown about SocketPermission:
I believe the security manager is doing unnecessary lookups, even after the resolved IP matches to the IP of the origin host. This is apparent from the fairly long delay before the ACE is thrown about SocketPermission.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure HTTP Proxy in browser (IE/Firefox)
2. visit an html page that embeds a simple applet that tries to connect back to origin host whose hostname resolves to an IP address but the IP address resolves to a different hostname. (example code below)
Expected Result:
Applet should be able to connect back to originating host via Socket connection or write (post) to a URL on origin host (which requires a new Socket connection back)
Actual Result:

Workaround:
The only possible workaround I could find is if the the applet can be loaded from IP-address in the codebase URL to avoid the unnecessary lookups by the SecurityManger.
This, however, maybe very difficult to use in most virtual-hosting environment, and IE browsers older than IE7 would most likely throw an error like "Class not found".
Example, if www.hostingsite.com resolves to 1.2.3.4
and http://1.2.3.4 goes to http://www.hostingsite.com
Change the codebase URL in the html embedding the applet, from:
"http://www.hostingsite.com/classes"
to:
"http://1.2.3.4/classes"
I also forgot to mention in my bug report that this would also be quite a big problem in server farms, where the origin-hostname resolves to multiple IP addressses and when those IP addresses do not all resolve back to the same hostname.

OWB 10gR2 - some enhancement requests

Hi, I've been working with OWB 10gR2 for approximately a week now, and I've come across a few (minor) bugs, as well as a list of enhancements that I think would make the tool better. I'd like to surface these in this forum so they can be either disagreed with or have workarounds suggested, as well as getting this list in front of Oracle. Also I'm new to the tool, so maybe there are ways to accomplish what I want.
p.s. as a side note - please don't take these as criticisms of the tool. I'm actually very impressed with OWB 10gR2, but just want to surface some ideas that I think would make the tool better.

---Bugs:
1.     If I enter a quote character in one of the business description fields (i.e. for a cube or dimension), it causes the DDL scripts to blow up. It probably mentions the list of valid characters in the users guide somewhere - but if a character isn't legal, it should be flagged when I try to enter it originally not when deploying
2.     I can enter illegal strings in an expression operator that fail validation there, but the whole map still passes validation. For instance, I put in an expression (for a varchar2 field) using a single quote at the start, but mistakenly with a double quote at the end. I didnt bother to validate this within the expression. The whole map validated fine, but (of course) blew up with the illegal syntax when generating the code.
3.     I get the following error when trying to browse a cube (ROLAP, not MOLAP) through OWB, but I'm able to pull the cube up fine using either the excel add-in or biBeans: CubeDV_OLAPSchemaConnectionException_ENT_06952???
---Enhancement Requests:
1.     Add a deploy button in control center next to the to default actions and reset actions buttons
2.     Allow an option to have dimensions and cube defaults set to either deploy all, deploy data only, deploy catalog only, deploy aggregations (for cubes). Also, why is the default set to deploy data only? Does deploying the CMW2 metadata involve huge performance impacts or something? It seems like the CMW2 is almost free so it should be turned on by default. Its a pain to use the dimension wizard, but then have to go in to each dimension afterwards to set this option.
3.     When using configure on dims and cubes in control center, the first time the configuration properties dialog pops up, everything is fine. However, when you try to configure the 2nd object, the background focus switches from control center back to design center. This makes navigation very slow if you have lots of items to change. I've noticed this behavior in a few other places as well.
4.     Some dialogs do not have maximize buttons (i.e. dimension wizard dialogs), and default to a very small size. It is possible to have size of dialogs dynamically scaled to screen resolutions, and attempt to size columns so they fit properly. Or better yet, have each dialog remember how large it was last time, and automatically open up to that size?
5.     When generating the autobind relational table while creating a dimension, it seems to be randomizing the order of the attributes within a level (although it does sort the top level attributes first, followed by lower level attributes), at least when using the dimension wizard. It would be nice if the attributes in the relational table came out sorted in the same order as they are specified in the attributes tab.
6.     When using a unmapped display set there doesnt seem to be a way to refresh the set (i.e. remove the items that have since been mapped) unless you select all and then unmapped again. Would be nice if you could simply choose unmapped again and have it refresh the object
7.     While doing a mapping, right click on canvas allows option to generate. Would be nice to also add the validate option to this menu
8.     Validating mappings takes a decent amount of time would be nice if a busy icon was displayed to let user know that OWB hasnt locked up.
9.     default size of job details dialog is too small, and even if I maximize I still have to go through and manually adjust the size of each pane. Similar to enhancement #4
10.     Horizontal size of operators in mapping seems to be determined by the length of the operator name, instead of tying directly to the icon. Looks strange. Very minor
11.     When displaying dimension objects in a mapping:
a.     For the surrogate key columns add an icon to indicate this attribute is a surrogate key. Likewise, since its not legal to map anything to this column, remove the little arrow next to it (the one that turns gray when something is mapped to a column), or perhaps don't even show this column at all.
b.     For the business key columns add some type of icon to show which attributes represent the business natural key (or make color different, etc.)
12.     Similar to #11, for the cube operator in a mapping:
a.     For the surrogate key columns if they cant be mapped to, then dont show them
b.     For the business key columns add some type of icon to show which attributes represent the business natural key
c.     Separate the measure columns from the dimension columns
13.     For the Aggregation operator can you move the <None> default operator to the top of the list. At the bottom, it means you always have to scroll to use the most common operations (which are at the top of the list), i.e. sum and avg, etc.
14.     In the log on prompt, if I choose SQL*Net connection, every time I start it up it defaults to the details being shown (even when I chose no detail last time), with cursor in the host box. I should be able to have the details hidden, and this dialog should ALWAYS default to having the active cursor in the password box on startup
15.     When printing in a mapping, the page setup print dialog is very slow. Also, the print setup dialog shows margins, but you cant adjust them. It would be nice if this could be changed here
16.     Add a print preview icon to all of the toolbars. Printer icon is there, print preview should also be.
17.     In the dimension attributes, we need a way to tag an attribute as being the insert record date or the update record date. The corresponding MERGE SQL should be updated to use these attributes.
18.     It would be nice if the mapping canvas defaulted to an unlimited sizei.e. when I want to add new operators and the screen is already full, I either need to shrink the zoom factor down to the point where I cant read the icons anymore, or I have to pick up the new operator and drag at the bottom / right side until it scrolls enough to drop it where I want. If the canvas had an unlimited size, I could simple use the scroll bars to scroll to where I want.
19.     Scroll wheel functionality to zoom in / out (and have it zoom in around the currently selected object)
20.     Option to have operations automatically resize when longer attribute names are added to them (can workaround by mimimizing and then maximizing, but would be better to have the operators automatically adjust size to fit)
21.     Ability to sort output attributes in an operator (just like table column sort functionality). If I create a new operator, it would be nice to group it with related operators instead of always having it at bottom.
22.     re: column sort functionality drag and drop instead of up/down arrows would be nice
23.     It would be nice if, when adding output attributes to (for example) the expression operator, it would choose the default data type the same way the dimension attribute wizard works (i.e. if it sees ind in name, automatically choose char(1)
24.     Change the zoom in button so that it zooms in on the currently selected operator i.e. if I click on a particular table and then hit the zoom in button, it should keep the table I selected centered
25.     When in a mapping, clicking on a line should highlight the attributes on both the source and target operators (to allow easier visual ID of where data is coming from / going to)
26.     AWM has a feature where table attributes can be sorted so that mappings between them don't have "crossed" lines. Similar functionality in OWB would be very appreciated. It may be harder to automate this, but even manual drag and drop of attributes within an operator would be nice.

if you could copy/paste this whole thing into the submission form (see feedback option under the numbers menu). The more people that request these features, the more likely we are to see them in an update or the next version.
