Building xy graphs

I'm trying to build xy graphs with multiple plots in a loop. In the attach, if I cluster each element and build an array , the plot looks fine (XY Graph). If I try to do it in a loop, I get extra points added (XY Graph 2). All the xy sets dont have the same number of elements, and the loop version pads with 0s to make the inner arrays square. This doesn't happen when I do it manually. How can I make this work in a loop?
TIA,
Bill F

HI:

  • Problems building a graph using sql SUM

    Hello !
i'm curently having issues to build a particular graph :
First, i have a database (moves) which contains 2 columns (timestamp DATETIME, dist NUMERIC), i have no problems to display a graph with these values (even using a time range such 'now','-1 hours', etc.).
But i'd like to build a graph with for example a 2 hours range which gonna display the sum of the value 'dist' every 30 seconds. So for example, if i have 2 'dist' values (3 and 4) at 0min 30sec, the graph will display 7 and the next value will be the sum of
the next 30 secondes dist values.
    I tried this :
    curs.execute("SELECT timestamp,SUM(dist) AS dist30 FROM moves WHERE timestamp>datetime('now','-30secondes')"
    curs.execute("SELECT timestamp,dist30 FROM moves WHERE timestamp>datetime('now','-1 hours')"
But it looks like the column dist30 is not created, and i think this is not gonna work if i want to change the 1 hour range...
I would like a better "algorythme", the table is filled in an other program, should i directly create a 3  columns table and SUM the dist in dist30 directly ?
    Thanks for your advice !

    Hi Subby,
Regarding your description, are you trying to rollup the dist column by every 30 seconds in a given 2 hours range? If my understanding I correct, you may reference the below sample. As you didn't post any detail about your function datetime(after the where
clause), so the sample is just in a usual way.
CREATE TABLE moves(timestamp DATETIME, dist NUMERIC)
    INSERT INTO moves VALUES('2015-02-13 14:20:01',1)
    INSERT INTO moves VALUES('2015-02-13 14:20:17',2)
    INSERT INTO moves VALUES('2015-02-13 14:20:29',5)
    INSERT INTO moves VALUES('2015-02-13 14:22:37',2)
    INSERT INTO moves VALUES('2015-02-13 14:22:56',5)
    INSERT INTO moves VALUES('2015-02-13 14:27:17',2)
    SELECT timestamp,SUM(dist) AS dist30 FROM(
SELECT DATEADD(SECOND,DATEPART(SECOND,timestamp)%30*-1,timestamp) AS timestamp, dist FROM moves) AS T --rollup by every 30 seconds
WHERE timestamp BETWEEN '2015-02-13 13:00:00' AND '2015-02-13 15:00:00' --two hour range
    GROUP BY timestamp

  • No Signal on my Custom "Build XY Graph" VI

I am trying to display a plot of signals with the "Build XY Graph" VI. I have wired a set of signals into the y input and a indication of time on the x-axis. However, for some reason nothin appears on my graph. Any suggestions? (Take a look at the attatched example for further details)

    Jeremy,
Thank you for the help. I built a library file for this VI and its subVIs. Also, I had previously probed the two signals coming in to the "Build XY Graph" VI and was suprised to see that they were carrying the correct value. This is why I was confused as to why they were not being outputed to the graph. Can you think of any reason from past experience? As far as the complexity of my program, I know that the signals are working correctly up until the xy graph VI so I am fairly sure that the problem is with that and not at some other point in the program.

  • How to call Graphic builder's Graph in 9i Reports

    Hi everybody,
I have a graph in graphic builder.I want to print this graph on report.
    I need your help please.
    Asif

    Hello,
    In http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/faq/graph_faq_with_style.html#q102
Can I still run my existing Oracle Reports Developer 6i reports containing Oracle Graphics charts in Oracle Reports?
As noted in the Oracle Reports Statement of Direction, Oracle Graphics is no longer shipped with Oracle Reports. However, as part of the migration path, you can still run Oracle Graphics charts in Oracle Reports if you install the Oracle Graphics 6i engine in a separate Oracle Home. You should only maintain Oracle Graphics 6i as a temporary measure while you redesign your charts using the new Graph Wizard. For further details on how to configure Oracle to use Oracle Graphics 6i, please see the Graphics Migration section in the Oracle9i Application Server Migration from Oracle9iAS Release 1 (1.0.2.2.x) to Release 2 (9.0.2) manual.

  • LMS report building with graph?

    Dear All
we installed a LMS 3.2 for our customer with HUM module.
when the customer using Hum to generate report, he found that the pre-defined report which
show the last 24 hours data, has graph with it.
but when he tried to generate another report for a shorter time frame, e.g. for the last 8 hours.
then this time the report wont have graph with it.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_health_and_utilization_monitor/1.2/user/guide_12/HUMrprts.html#wp1134146
our question is how to generate a custom report with graph?
is it possible to do so with LMS 3.2?
    thanks
    Yuke

    Hi,
yes, you can create custom reports with the Graph. Its actually created with graph by default. The only thing you need to do after launching the custom report is that you need to click on the device which is hyperlink to Graph for the OID for which custom report was created.
Hope this is what you was looking for.

  • Build XY Graph

I have problem with making XY Graph user friendly. In my case loop execution time will be variable, so I cannot use waveform chart because timing gets off - look at the picture of vi.
How I can make XY Graph to start from the leftmost position, not use autoscale and use x axis scrollbar?
    Thanks,

All you axes are set to autoscale, so you shoud turn that off.
It is probably a bad idea to grow infinite datasets inside the "built xy graph express VI", so a more manageable solution would be to do your own fixed size history buffer. Use an action engine, for example.
Anyway, in order for the x scrollbar to be visible, the data x-range needs to be wider than the axis x-range. You could just update the max and min according to the current time, e.g. as follows. All this needs more work, for example you don't want to update the range settings while the user is scrolling.
    Also:
You also don't need the local variable, simply set the stop button th latch action.
Convert the time to DBL instead of EXT. EXT does not do anything useful in this case.

  • Difficulties in building a graph - variables dimension conflict.

    Hi,
I am trying to display a reading from a load cell in a graph using the example vi I've attached below. I am working with Labview 7 and Field Point 2000. This example vi is perfect for my needs as I can vary the acquisition time on the x axis and the number of datapoints. The thing here is that the FieldPoint "Read" function is a 2 dimension variable and the Delay Time is a 1 dimension. With that cofiguration I am not able to bundle them in a graph.
I don't know how to solve this problem or if it is possible to transform my double dimension variable in one dimension. Could someone please help me with this problem. I am not very proficient with Labview yet.
    Thanks,
    Adriana

    Hi Adriana !
I do not use FieldPoint, but I think that your Read node generates a 1D array either because it's reading several channels at a time, or because it's reading a series of values, over a finite time delay (I guess it's case 1)
Case 1 : insert an "index array" node (second function in the array sub-palette) to extract the right channel data, immediately after the read node.
Case 2 : average the readings

  • How do i get a xy graph to plot more points?

I'm using the Build xy graph express in Labview 7.0 and I was just wondering how one could increase the amount of points plotted on the graph. Right now, the graph will just plot up to 100 points and then go crazy and go back to 0. I would just like to know if there's any way to increase the amount of points that could be plotted on the graph.

An xy graph will plot exactly the number of points that are in the x and y array. That's assuming that you have the x scale set to autoscale. And, by default, each time the function is called, the graph will reset. You can select properties and change this. You don't mention where you're getting the data. Stick a probe on the input to the express VI and check the size. You can also provide some details on what you're doing or post your VI for someone to look at.

  • XY graph multi plot live points and colour control

    Hi All,
I'm trying to do something that should be simple but is proving to be difficult so far. I have had a good look through previous topics and found things similar but not actually what I want.
In my experiment I scan intensity vs wavelength.
Ideally I want to be able to:
    1)  run a scan and see the points plotted live.
    2) Then I want the plot to stay on the graph when I run the next scan, etc.
    3) I'd like to do an arbitrary number of scans. e.g. To initiate a scan I press a button, an arbitrary number of times.
    4) I want to make it so that the current scan is plotted live in one colour (red), and all the previous scans remain plotted in another colour (blue).
    5) Sometimes I may want to clear the graph of all scans and begin again, without having to stop the VI.
Items 1-3 can be taken care of easily by placing the Build XY graph and XY graph object inside the for loop that runs the scan, and unticking 'Clear data on each call' in the propertes of Build graph. See first attached VI.
However, at the beginning of a scan it joins the last point of the previous scan to the first point of the next scan.
The difficult parts are 4 and 5.
For item 4 you need to build an array of plots, which is easy if you know the number of plots, but here the number is arbitrary. So how do I do that? I've had a go by trying to use Insert Array in different ways but I haven't worked it out. Then hopefully using the XY graph property nodes I can set the colours of the plots.
For part 5 it is not enough just to use the invoke node = reinitialize to default, and have a button that executes the node. This clears the graph but then when you run the next scan all the previous plots pop up again, indicating that the array that stores the plots is not actually cleared. The second attachment shows how I'm clearing the graph.
My biggest problem is item 4, and combining item 4 and 5 together.
    Please help.

The key is understanding the data type. If you hover over the graph's terminal, you will see that multiple plots are simply an array of single plots. Once you know that, something like this quick modification is fairly easy to come up with. I also added events to make it more readable. Note that this isn't actually a good way of doing things (for instance, you can't abort the drawing in the middle), but it shows the graph concept. You might wish to look at some code like producer/consumer designs.
As for the colors, you're right that the properties can help you there. I will leave it to you to figure out the exact properties, but when you start a new plot, you will basically want to reset all the others to white and make the new one red.
Try to take over the world!

  • Graph legend and print options

When building a graph using the graphTable bean, I'd like to place the legend below the graph instead of above. How can this be done?
Also, the graph plots a number of lines, each of which is rendered in a different color. Is there a way to make the graph lines cross-hatched, or dotted, or something else so that when printed in black and white the user is able to associate the graph line with the legend?

    Hi,
Take a look at SAP note #1049778. For recent releases, the device type HP4350 should be already available in transaction SPAD n the system.
Also as per SAP note #1049778, most of the new device types that were developed within the SAP Printer Vendor program (SAP note #1130927) support the new print options.(see SAP note #1103422)

you can try using either Business Graphics or GFW framework for this.
for drawing a graph using Business graphics you simply need to call the FM
GRAPH_2D or GRAPH_3D and pass the required data. A new window opens up business graphics expolorer containing the graph with builtin functinalily to print etc.
But if you wish to use GFW framework for building a graph...yuo can have a look at follwoing programs in SE38. But these involve more coding than above part.

  • How can i control graph with two inputs?

    Hi,
i would like to ask you about the graph with two inputs
Normally, if i just give one input, they generate the graph with this input(y) vs time(x).
But now i would like to get the graph with my two inputs in x axis and y axis .
i want to control both of two axis. How could i do for it ?
i attached the file that i try to use "Build XY graph" to control both x and y axis with random number .
It can run but i don't know how come the graph show nothing. .
Actually , it have to show something like wavefrom continuously. am i right?
Could you tell me a way to solve it ?
    >>>
what i want to get is ..
    in Graph,
for x axis , ditance (always increases)
for y axis , vibration (vary)
    >>>
Thank you so much for your time . I am looking forward your kindly reply.

    Hi NI9233,
Mind me to interrupt, I am just helping Mike to explain what he meant to you, refer to the graph:
    Picture 1:
Double click on Build XY Graph, uncheck the clear data on each call
    Picture 2 and 3:
Change your formula node into +1 Basic Function in Functions Pallette.
    Hope that helps!
PS: I am sorry for the size of the image, seems I made a mistakes when I saved the picture.

Obviosly what I'm doing is wrong. How can i do what want ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
try applying the ViewCriteria to the View Object instance in the ADF BC ApplicationModule Data Model. Create a new instance of the ViewObject and use the configuration button above the selection area to assign a ViewCriteria to this VO. Then build a graph on top of it
