Burning iTunes Store songs to MP3 CD function removed?

iTunes won't let you burn your iTunes purchases to an MP3 CD anymore? I have done this in the past for most all of my library of iTunes store purchased songs and are backed as MP3 audio CD's in addition to my backup of the Mp4 files. I pack MP3's on CD's to load into my car cd bank. I can no longer take the music I've purchased to my my car as I've done in the past. I purchased music based on this ability (transfer to MP3 CD's) in the past instead of buying the CD.

To best of my recollection, it has never allowed this. iTunes onloy burns tracks to an MP3 CD that are already in MP3 format.
I can no longer take the music I've purchased to my my car
That depends where it is purchased from. The iTunes Store sells songs in AAC format, which iTunes cannot burn to an MP3 CD. Amazon.com (and most other online music download retailers) sell songs in MP3 format, which can be readily burned to MP3 CD.

Hello @MK,
This functionality has been moved under the File menu in iTunes 11, where you will find a submenu labelled "Create New Version." From here you can choose the format you would like it converted to. Do keep in mind that most music purchased from the iTunes Store (unless they're iTunes Plus purchases) cannot be converted.

In Itunes store, song preview plays for only 5-10 seconds and then stops. Songs in my Itunes library play entirely from start to finish.

My Itunes previews have been playing fully now for the past few days. After trying every suggestion possible to fix the problem of 5-10 second previews, I took the advice on one feed to use OpenDNS for your network internet connection. There are internet sites that will instruct you how to do it. Just Google "opendns for (your operating system)". I have Windows XP and followed a video instruction at www.top-windows-tutorals.com/using-opendns.html. Afterward, close your browser and then flush the DNS Resolver cache; Start/Run, type CMD in the open field, click OK, in resulting window type ipconfig/flushdns, press return on keyboard. No guarantees, but my browser is faster and my Itunes previews are playing fully so far. But I still shudder every time I hit the preview button.

(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in

Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

When I try to Updates for Apps on my iPhone4, I get the message " Cannot connect to iTunes store". All other wifi functions are working including download of Apps and browsing.

Try a reset, hold the home/sleep button until the device powers off then powers back on and you see the apple logo. Release when you see the apple logo and allow it to finish booting. Once it is done try updating your apps again.

• ITunes Store Song Display List-Change Back?

Is there a way to change the way iTunes Store songs are displayed in ver 9.x like they were in the older version of iTunes?
The songs are now displayed in a very small viewing window and the colums can't be adjusted to view the song data...everything is truncated.
Also, you used to be able to right-click on a song and "Get Info" about the album, song, etc.
Not a big fan of this new interface...it's very limited.

I might have a solution. I suspect Apple will delete this post if they check however. Actually I will put in a post separately, and keep this as I have a few items/problems to add:
1. I buy a lot of classical music. It no longer lists the composer, or allows me to choose what information is displayed in the headers (much less, as we know being able to size it to see all text). This makes iTunes virtually worthless to me.
2. I only upgraded after receiving a gift album, and though it said I needed version 6 or higher, and I had version 7.6, it forced me to go to the latest version (the hated 9, as far as I can tell from forums). Then it did not allow me to retrieve the gift because I am studying in the UK and it was purchased in the USA. (Note that before upgrading I could use and buy on any site USA or UK.)
So, useless information on tracks and inability to gift etc internationally, makes version 9 a big stinker for me.
I am going to try to revert to an older version. Detail to come.

• Burning MP3 disks from purchased iTunes Store songs

Making MP3 disks from songs I have purchased from the iTunes Store is pretty inconvenient: first I have to make a Music CD, then I have to reimport the files as MP3s, then, finally, I can make an MP3 disk. Is there something I'm missing? I wish it was easier.

Buy the iTunes Plus tracks & those can be directly converted to mp3. Also, if you need mp3 tracks, you might want to take a look at Amazon.com's download service which offers unprotected mp3's at a higher bitrate.

• Putting iTunes store music onto mp3 players

I am having difficulty putting music I have purchased from the iTunes store on to my mp3 player as it is in m4p format - i have tried converting it using the option in 'Advanced' but it comes up with a warning saying it can't be converted as it is protected.
Is there anyway round it?

What you can do with your store purchases is burn them to an audio CD. That audio CD can be used in the same manner that any CD you would purchase at your local store.

• Can't burn itunes purchased songs onto a cd

I created a playlist consisting of previously downloaded songs (not purchased from itunes) and itunes purchased songs. When I attempted to burn a cd of the playlist, only the previously downloaded non itunes were burned into the cd. During the burning process the meter at the top of the page indicated that the itune purchases were being read, but when I played the cd on my car cd, and later on a friends cd, the itunes purchased songs weren't there. When I play the burned cd on my computer all the songs are included. I've tried slowing down the recording speed, trying both audio and data cd options with the same results. I am using cd-r cd's. Can anyone help?

Its a crime there is absolutly zero customer service assistance. I will never give them a another dime. As it is I have this $10 cd I can only listen to on my computer.

• ITunes stores songs at various places

I use iTunes 7.3 for Windows. When I buy songs from iTunes store, most of them will be stored correctly to my partition D: and into the correct path. But from time to time some of the songs are stored on partition C:. For example, I owned an album with 10 songs. Downloading 10 songs, 7 songs are placed correct at D: and 3 songs are placed on C:. Why is this?

A suggestion: May anti sypware tools or virus scanners, always active as backgroud processes, block files or directories and confuse iTunes?
I found this entry in the advanced preferences tab: "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library". May this can help to avoid spreading the music files all over the PC while downloading.
Yesterday iTunes deleted two files of 15 from an new purchased album. These two files were stored for no reason in a directory named "downloads" within the iTunes music dir. I closed iTunes, then started it again. It needs approx. a minute to start, heavy HD activity and then this two files are lost, nowhere to find.

• Itunes store songs won't play? Even after I authorized my computer...

I purchased a handful of songs from Itunes store a few months ago.
Recently they started not playing and said I had to "authorize" them for my computer.
I made an Itunes store account and signed in to authorize the songs, but when I try to play them it asks me to authorize them again and then says "This computer has already been authorized".
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I had the same problem after I purchased a cd online in the iTunes store on my work computer. It asked me to authorize the computer to purchase the songs, and then repeatedly asked me to authorize the computer to play the songs.
I just spoke with Apple Care and it seemed to fix the problem. I am using a PowerMac G5 and running Mac OS X 10.4.11 as well as iTunes 8 so the following steps might vary according to your make model etc...
Shut down iTunes and open your hard drive found on your desktop.
On the left side you will find a "house" icon with a file name you have specified.
Inside that file you need to open the "Library" folder.
Inside the "Library" folder you will find a "Preferences" folder. Open that.
Now you will find a list of of files and folders. Many of the files will start off with "com.apple..."
Find any and all files that read "com.apple.iTunes..."
I had three ("com.apple.itunes.plist", "com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist" and one other I cant remember the specific title to)
Highlight all those files and drag them into your trash.
Once they are in your trash, restart you computer and open up iTunes. Things should work now.
Apparently this resets some preferences (or something along those lines).
Hope this helps, and I always find Apple Care to be very easy to work with so give them a call.

• ITunes store songs out of album order

I have a problem with two albums I've bought throught iTunes - the songs are out of order (as they should be on the album). On one album, one of the songs was part of a celebrity playlist when I bought it, and on the other, one of the songs was a single of the week.
Now, those two songs won't be put in the right order with the rest of the album - they both appear as the first song of the album. I've tried changing all of the album and song info under "Get Info" - they're named right, they have the right album liste, and have the right track number - but they still appear as the first track of the ablum in my library and on my iPod.
Other than making a playlist for the album and manually arrangin the tracks, how can I fix this in my library?

I have ensured that all the details of each song in the album match up completely, i.e. the same year, artist, composer etc.
So when you checked the "details" with the Get Info window for the song, did you look in the Info tab to verify that the +Track Number+, 1 of 11, 2 of 11, etc... was entered correctly for each song in the album set?

• Burning iTunes Library onto generic MP3 Player....How?

Not being able to afford the iPod 2nd Generation Nano, I purchased a 1st generation look-a-like MP3 player for my daughter. We purchase music and burn CDs using iTunes, however, I cannot figure out how to transfer the files to the MP3 player. Since it is not an authentic "iPOD" the Sync selection is not available. I have purchased tons of music through iTunes and feel I should be able to play it on any MP3 player I choose. Is there a way to do this? Please help!!!!

+I have purchased tons of music through iTunes and feel I should be able to play it on any MP3 player I choose.+
If the tracks you purchased are DRM-protected, then they are unusable on any non-Apple product (except for certain iTunes-enabled mobile phones).
+We purchase music and *burn CDs* using iTunes, however, I cannot figure out how to transfer the files to the MP3 player.+
Is it, ahem, possible to get songs from an *audio CD* to the player?
For future reference, since you plan to use your songs on both Apple and non-Apple products, please restrict your purchases to non-DRM tracks. That means either iTunes Plus, or MP3s from online stores such as amazon.com.

• Itunes store search button doesn't function

I recently bought an iMac and have the current itunes 11 loaded. This worked fine for few days but now the search in itunes doesn't function at all. i.e. you can type in it but it will not search in the store and the drop down menu form the magnifying glass doesn't appear either. Any ideas?
Jerome

After an upgrade to Mountain Lion the problem never solved.
I also can't use my Audio Console via DJ software because the MP3 don't play, exactly like iTunes!
The problem seems related to the audio framework residing into the OSX rather than an iTunes specific problem.
Can I ask for OSX guarantee support?
