Bus and Aux and Guitar Rig 3

I am a little new to the whole idea of busing. I am getting Guitar Rig 3 and have read where I need to bus the audio to another track, as I record, to get the recorded effect. The track it is plugged into will get only a clean guitar sound recorded, and I need to bus the output to another track to get the effect recorded.
I read the manual and is it just as easy as selecting an output bus for a track and an AUX track just appears?
Any help would be great.
Thanks
RH

Guitar Rig shows up as an audio unit.
1. Create a new track.
2. Select that track.
3. Look at the leftmost column in the Logic window.
4. Right click on one of the buttons under the text that says "Inserts".
5. Guitar Rig is found under Audio Units->Native Instruments
Then double click the Guitar Rig button whenever you want to change a Guitar Rig setting. I believe that Logic does record the straight guitar track and applies Guitar Rig and any other effects on the fly.

  • Audition CS5.5 and Guitar Rig 4/5

I've just installed AA CS5.5 as a trial, and I found a strange conflict with Native Instruments Guitar Rig VST plugin. The software recognizes the plugin smoothly in the plugin manager, but it just stays greyed out, so I can't use it.
I've tried with Guitar Rig 4 & 5, with no luck. Both work perfectly on Adobe Audition 3. I'm using Windows XP SP3 and M-Audio Fast Track Pro with ASIO drivers. Anybody experiencing the same issue?

Okay, I've spent some time this morning looking at Guitar Rig 5 in CS5.5 and CS6.  Guitar Rig can install a lot of flavors of audio plug-in depending on your need.  Audition only cares about the VST and Audio Unit (on Mac.)
There was an issue we found in Audition CS5.5 where some effects don't properly report their channelization.  While not technically an Audition bug (it's part of the VST spec, I believe) we were not trapping these wayward plug-ins, which is why you saw Guitar Rig listed, but disabled.  We addressed this issue in Audition CS6 by catching plug-ins that do not respond to channel requests as expected and assigning them as appropriate.
Guitar Rig is now enabled in Audition CS6 VST Effects List
More importantly, Audition CS6 opens up some pretty impressive effect channelization options which allow you to route the channels of a file into an effect in any manner you like.  This allows you full control over which channel is assigned to which effect input, and which channel the output should be applied.
Feeding a 5.1 file into a Mono effect now enables precise control over channel routing.
Full control over 5.1 files into 5.1 effects as well.  Any combination of channelizations and effects should work well.
Lastly, here's Guitar Rig 5 running in Audition CS6.  While it definitely works, I do not recommend modifying this particular guitar track.  Much like trying to pitch correct Freddie Mercury, Keith Richards guitar work does not benefit from additional processing

  • Adobe Audition 3 and Guitar rig 2?

    Will these 2 work together?
I use Cubase normally but I would like to try Audition.
I would like to record a clean guitar track and then apply Guitar rig as vst or whatever will work.
    Is it possible?

According to the Native Instruments website Guitar Rig 2 has both DirectSound and ASIO drivers.
Audition works with ASIO so you can either use the native ASIO driver or wrap the DirectSound driver with the Audition 3.0 Windows Sound or the ASIO4ALL WDM wrappers.
Of course you could download the Audition v3 trial and try it yourself (assuming you already own Guitar Rig 2).

  • Guitar Rig and Third Party Controllers

    For Guitar Rig users
I bought the Behringer FCB1010 MIDI foot controller to replace the limited Rig Kontrol. I have programmed it and it works great with Guitar Rig
I also run Guitar Rig as a plug-in in Garage Band and I can record real instrument tracks with Guitar Rig effects. However under this scenario the Guitar Rig software doesn't respond to the FCB's commands which doesn't allow me to use the expression medal or change any effects during the recording. The GarageBand MIDI indicator does flash when I step on the controller however the sound isn't getting over to Guitar Rig.
I'm very frustrated it over this. Can someone help?
    Thanks
    JG

I think your interpretation is correct. When you get GR you'll find that it has a Learn function so that you can pass to it whatever codes you want. I was actually able to setup several effects on/off parameters, switch GR presets within a bank, the two expression pedals.
When I run GR in GarageBand the GR plug in doesn't respond to any of the commands from the FCB.
Here is what NI's suppport person sent to me:
"the problem occurs due to a Garage Band limitaion which makes the send midi function nearly unusable.
If you plug in Guitar Rig FX on an audio track you cannot send midi to it. And If you use it as an audio instrument you could send midi to GR, but because Garage Band does not support a sidechain function of audio instruments, you cannot record audio. To record audio you need to use the FX version of GR (same as in Logic), but you cannot send midi to an FX in Garage Band.
This is defenitely a big limitation of this host sequencer. "

  • Guitar Rig 3 and Duet

I am trying to get Duet and Guitar Rig 3 v3.2.0 and Logic Pro 8.0.2 to work together. After selecting Guitar Rig3 in the Insert slot of the channel strip and enabling record, I am able to hear the guitar through the monitors but there is no GR3 sound effect. The GR3 Global Header does not display any in or out activity. But upon play back, I hear the GR3 effect on the guitar track.
I have been adjusting so many settings, I am afraid I might have set something along the way incorrectly - Perhaps in Maestro or in Logic Preferences? Also should Input Monitoring be selected? To make things simple, I unplugged the USB connection to the GR3 foot pedal. That will be a different project for another day. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
software monitoring must be On in logic
Input monitoring must be off in maestro...

Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product vendor for an update.

You recently updated iTunes to v.11.4? This message has popped up on many a Mac screen when this version was first made available, because this kext was obviously faulty.
You should try to download iTunes 11.4 again from Apple's website: the new version bears the same name, but this kernel extension has been updated, and the issues it was causing are now a thing of the past.
    Should solve your problem, too...

  • Guitar Rig and Projectmix help

Hello everyone! Would appreciate your help on this one:
I have a Guitar Rig 3 (Rig Kontrol Interface)
and an M-Audio Project Mix IO
I could not figure out how to Use GR3 as my IN and Projectmix as my OUT in Logic 7.2.3.
I believe this is an aggregate device thing. Can anybody help me with the steps i have to do to make this setup work? Thank you very much!
    p.s.
    Running Leopard 10.5.1

Well, I just responded to this in related thread - here is the reply:
Hmmm... I don't Batter but here's what you can with other NI AUs - adapted for your situation.
Open the .lso after Logic has been launched under Rosetta - the PPC AUs should load ( i.e. Battery 2 should load ok ).
Go to Battery 2, save your presets for all your songs.
Relaunch Logic, now native ( rosetta disabled ).
Create a new B3 instance - load the b2 preset in to the Battery 3.
That should cover most of the job.
    Cheers,
    J
P.S. Of course, work on copies of your work until the transfer has been verified.

  • Controlling a plug-in (Guitar Rig 5)---to changes banks and/or presets

I am trying to control a guitar plugin, Guitar Rig 5, via bank and preset changes---I am going to to this in Abelton and then use Mainstage for some additional sound features not requiring a sequencer.
I am a single acoustic player and I use Abelton to play a backing track and control my lighting, but I am having trouble figuring out how to setup up Guitar Rig and my MIDI channels apparently.
I am looking to be able to change from one guitar patch (like a clean sound) to a dirty sound (lead solo) automatically (eliminating the need to do the foot pedal Riverdance while playing live), but I can’t seem to figure this out after two days.  I see the presets in the list, but for the life of me I can’t seem to make this work.
I dragged the plug in to a newly created "return" and then attempted to create a two new MIDI channels to perform the desired bank and preset changes.  But this did not work.
I then dragged the Guitar Rig 5 plugin into a newly created "audio" track, and tried to do the same thing, but that hasn't worked either.  Under the "send to" MIDI section I can select "Guitar Rig" from the drop down, but afterward I can not select the box below---which I would think would allow me to select the MIDI channel I want to sent the command for bank changes and preset changes.
The goal is to have Guitar Rig 5 changing presets automatically, so I can play through a song and at the appropriate time the GR5 plugin would switch from clean channel to distorted---for example, for a lead solo part.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi
Mainstage will not pass through Program Change messages to plugins. I have not succeded with (quick) attempts to get GR to respond to MIDI CC either.
You might do better to simply make additional Patches (or combinations of Audio and Instrument Patches) rather than try to control GR5 directly.

  • Guitar Rig 3 and Mainstage

    Am I missing something?
Guitar Rig 3, in its natural state, has good mapping between MIDI messages and control over parameters in the plugin, even though it's an "audio in, audio out" plugin in general. In my "other" DAW, I can create a MIDI track and assign it to the plugin, and easily get control over Guitar Rig's parameters with a footpedal.
I have yet to discover a way to do this in MainStage; I can't find a way to tell it to pass MIDI messages to the plugin. I get the choice of an audio track, or an instrument track.
Plugin Manager lists Guitar Rig 3 as a "MIDI-Controlled effects plugin," but that's as close as I've come to being able to get the pedal to talk to it.
Please tell me I've overlooked something obvious...
    - donl

Guitar Rig works the same as any plugin. You first have to create and assign controls in layout mode. Then in edit mode, map the buttons you just created to the various parameters in Guitar Rig.

  • Clicks and pops when running Mainstage 2 with Guitar Rig 5 in Mavericks.

**I've read that this may be unsolvable but I hope someone can help me**
    Hello everyone,
I very recently upgraded to the new Macbook Pro 15" Retina as my 2010 Macbook running Snow Leopard is on it's way to Apple heaven. This means I am now on Mavericks and **** is ******, it's my fault for not upgrading sooner so I am to blame in some respects. Here is my issue.
My set up is fairly basic:
Mainstage 2.2.2 (I can't upgrade to 3 as the synths we use are not 64bit compatible.. another nightmare due to my lack of upgrading in the past)
Axiom 64 MIDI controller via USB
Guitar Rig 5 controller via USB (audio interface)
In Mainstage we have the L output for virtual instrument parts and the R output for guitar parts. These are globally panned L and R.
The L output from Mainstage goes through the Guitar rig footcontroller out the L output through a DI and then to the mixing desk. The R output goes through the Guitar rig controller out the R output and straight to the guitar amp. Simple way to do both keys and guitar.
We never had any problems with this in Snow Leopard. With Mavericks this setup is unusable due to the clicks and pops shooting through the guitar amp. It doesn't matter whether the voume on the guitar itself is turned up or down it's still all "click POP.. CLICK pop pop click" Mainstage just seems to be sending these pops regardless if anything is being played or not.
When I ran the same session through my Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 there was no popping on the virtual instruments so I'm thinking it could be a guitar rig issue.
Can anyone help me with this? I'm sure a lot of people are finding the same thing... **** I know a lot of people are getting the pops without guitar rig involved. For now I'm going to continue to use my old Macbook but I'd LOVE to have the new one running smoothly!
    Thanks a lot!

  • Duet and Guitar Rig 3 kontrol Edition

I recently purchased Guitar Rig 3 Knotrol Edition to use with Duet and I am in the process of setting it up. Can they both work together or do I have to disconnect Duet? After installing the software, I see RigKontrol3 in the Apple System Preference panel and in the LogicPro 8 Core Audio panel I also see RigKontrol3. Thank you.
    Carlos

Sorry for the late post. I have plugged the guitar into a Waves PRS GTR via mic in cannon plug on the Duet, used the L/R audio outs to a power amp/cab for live audio and can still use the Guitar Rig controller via USB to make preset/effects changes. Also with this set up I can record to Logic, power down the amp and use headphones. Still experimenting with different configurations and other software gtr appz.

Even though Device Manager reports it as there and working fine with no conflicts. All my software sees the card as well.
The only thing that doesn't see my Creative Labs SB is the Creative Labs Driver Update. What's up with that?
    Hi
SB Li've! does not have ASIO drivers on it's own. Asio4All is a sort of 'generic' ASIO
driver for onboard soundcards and for cards not having ASIO 'support' (A4A driver needs
WDM drivers to been installed (e.g. Windows XP or 2000)). You find more information
'bout ASIO by searching the web (google, ask jeves,...) and 'bout A4A on their site.
'All' Creative card models seems to have problems updating/installing drivers.
I can't say if this issue is related to XP+SP2 (perhaps). In your case the Dell may be
the cause. You need to use drivers / updates from Dell support pages (OEM cards are not
    : with original ones).

Hi there, Klaus1, BDAqua and a brody,

My next question will naturally be: Is SheepShaver legal? My Google search didn't yield any conslusive proof that it was, nor any that it wasn't, but as the E-Maculation web page seemed quite official and above board I would assume that it is.
The next logical step would be to ask whether it's safe for both HW and SW to run SheepShaver. HW, it appears, is very rarely, if ever, affected by SW settings, so I would assume that hardwarewise, I'm good to go. Could it ruin the kernel of Mac OS X's Unix-based operating system?
    Kind Regards,
