Business connector server on Virtual Server

Hi,
Currently our 4.6 release Business Connector servers running on Windows NT Operating system. We would like to upgrade them to BC release 4.7 on Windows 2000 operating system on Virtual servers.
Are there any known issues/disadvantages if we install Business connector servers on Virtual Server rather than a Physical server?
These virtual servers will be in the same domain as that of SAP systems. Host names of the upgraded Virtual servers will be same as the current production BC hosts.
Thanks,
Srini

The following information provides you with an overview of the new features in SAP BC Release 4.7: It also tells you about incompatible changes that you need to know about before performing an upgrade.
SAP BC 4.7 is based on Integration Server 4.6 from webMethods. However, the SAP BC elements in Integration Server 4.6 have been redeveloped (see below for details).
Features
Additional Functions in SAP BC Developer
As well as SAP BC Administrator GUI, you can now use SAP BC Developer to perform typical development tasks.  You do not need administrator authorizations in SAP BC Developer to do this. For example, with SAP BC 4.7 you can use SAP Lookup to generate elements for the Developer.  This enables you to gather information about function modules, structures (tables), BAPIs and IDocs in an SAP system, and then generate outbound maps or records for these objects directly.
SAP BC Developer contains a new menu, SAP, which contains the following functions:
·        Look up a function module and generate an outbound map
·        Look up a structure definition and generate a record.
·        Lookup a business object.
·        Look up an IDoc and creating a Record.
·        Browser for Function Maps.
In addition, the Developer now also supports the following actions:
·        Generate an SAP inbound map if you want an SAP system to run a service in SAP BC.
·        Generate an SAP outbound map to execute a function module in an SAP system.
·        Generate a record based on an SAP ABAP Dictionary structure.
·        Generate a record based on an SAP IDoc.
SAP BC Developer now also supports a proxy bypass list. This means that you no longer need to define whether a connection runs through a proxy; instead, the bypass list performs this task.
New Public Services on SAP BC Server
pub.string:gzip
Compresses the specified input string and generates a check total (optional). For measurements or for statistical purposes, the lengths of the zipped and unzipped strings are provided as output.
·        pub.string:ungzip
Decompresses a specified input string, which was compressed with pub.string:gzip, and verifies the check total (optional).
·        pub.string:numericParse
Analyzes a number in accordance with a given number pattern.
·        pub.math:randomLong
Generates a pseudo random number and sends its string representation in a pipeline variable. You can use this number as a universal identifier with an acceptable level of security, as long as it is used in non-distributed scenarios and for a small number of variables.
·        pub.file:head
Shows the start of a given file.
·        pub.file:tail
Shows the end of a given file.
·        pub.flow:sleep
Puts the current service into sleep mode for the specified period (in seconds).
Restructuring of the WmPartners Package
The WmPartners package in SAP BC Server has been completely restructured and now offers the following enhancements:
·        Improved status information in the messages displayed in the Transaction Store and the Audit Log. This solves a range of problems, such as incorrect status information being displayed by IDocs.
·        Improved search and sort options for transactions in the file system of the Message Store. In the Transactions menu, SAP BC Administrator GUI offers you a new option, Message Store Query Settings, which enables you to select and delete transactions. In Release 4.7, the Message Store can also be displayed on separate pages, which makes it easier to edit large numbers of transactions.
·        Improved search and sort options for Routing Rules. In the Routing Rules menu, SAP BC Administrator GUI offers you a new option, Routing Rule Filter Settings, which enables you to restrict the number of routing rules that are displayed, and to sort the display. The filter accepts all combinations of characters, and the placeholders '*' (string of characters) and  '?' (one character). This makes it easier to sort and search for routing rules, especially if you need to process a large number of communication partners and message types.
·        Forwarding the "Confirm Event" tRFC (triggered by an SAP system) to the next receiver (for the following transports: B2B Service, ALE (R/3 IDoc), and XML (only if another SAP BC is the receiver)) and triggering "Confirm Event" from an external client. Both of these cases can be significant if the final receiver is an SAP system. In this case, "Confirm Event" removes the transaction ID from the ARFCRSTATE table, which can improve system performance significantly when a large number of tRFCs are being processed.
Support for Distributed Statistic Records (DSRs)
SAP BC has supported the generation of DSRs since Release 4.7  DSRs enable you to monitor the performance of each SAP system and its components. In this way, you can check how much system load is produced by each individual component, and how many resources are being used. This enables you to identify "performance leaks" and optimize system performance.
The DSR support integrated in SAP BC also allows you to measure the total retention period of a process in SAP BC. To evaluate the DSRs, you require additional SAP software, including specific versions of the SAP Solution Manager, and the RFC Library. The exact requirements are still being defined.
The details will be published in SAP Note 620418. You can find a link to this SAP Note on the SAP BC download page at http://service.sap.com/sbc-download.
SAP BC Server Core Enhancements
·        Reverse Invoke
The reverse invoke protocol has been enhanced and now allows you to forward more information, such as IP addresses.
If, for example, an application fails because a connection is broken, and other working connections exist, the connection is checked using a ping.
From now on, the internal server can open or reopen a defined number of connections, if necessary.
A document is generated for any exceptions on the internal server.
·        Email Listener
New Features in the Email Listener
¡        Reprocessing of invalid mails for IMAP Server
¡        Processed mails selected as "unread" if they have not been deleted.
You can also specify whether mails with exceptions are deleted or not.
·        Update Manager
The Update Manager manages fixes and patches for the upgrade of an SAP BC Server. Previously , the Update Manager allowed a fix to set other fixes as obsolete, using the updateVoidList field in the update.cnf file of the fix. An obsolete fix is not shown in classpath, but up to now the Update Manager has not been able to give a fix in classpath priority ahead of this other fix. The Update Manager has now been enhanced to support these fix priorities:  The update.cnf file in the fix now contains an updatePrecedeList field.
Incompatible Changes
SAP BC Delivery Without JVM
The Windows Version of SAP BC 4.7 is no longer delivered with a Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The SAP BC 4.7 Installation Guide describes the JVMs that are supported.

  • Business connector on Virtual Server

    Hi All,
    I need a urgent help to know, if there are any disadvantages if we setup a Business connector environment in Virtual Server rather than a Physical server?
    The situation is, currently I have business connector working on Physical server, for which a Warranty is reach end of life and no further support to the hardware is possible from the mother company.
    Hence we have a plan of moving the Business connector in the physical server to a new virtual server provided by our infrastructure team as virtual servers are less costlier than physical server. Hence I would like to know how good to choose Virtual Server for business connector.
    Also, do any one can suggest what is the best way of approach would be, to move the existing Business connector server operations to new hardware i.e. is it fine to do pure system copy and will it work? or else do I need to redo from installing the BC software and configuring it manually.
    Thanks,
    Bindu

    Hi Bindu,
    we are running all of our BC servers on VMWare images. Works perfectly. You are better off installing the BC from scratch and remember if you are installing it onto Windows XP or alike you should select the Windows 2000 compatibility mode both for installation as well as when running it. This will allow it to run just fine.
    Be aware that BC 4.8 is due to be released soon and that will give you a supported, JVM updated version of BC for Windows and Linux. Currently all JVM versions are un-supported for previous BC versions.
    If you use the same name and IP for your virtual server than what you had for the previous physical server you should not see any changes in your configs. Again, we have moved these from physical to virtual doing just that and it all worked well.
    If you don't care about support at this point in time then you can also run the whole lot on a newer JVM, though if this is feasible or necessary is up to you.
    Cheers
    Kalle

  • What's the best way to go about migrating a full server instance in iWS 4.1 to a virtual server in 6.0?

    We are migrating from iplanet web server 4.1 to iws6.0 on solaris 2.6. Migrating from instance to instance or from virtual server to virtual server is easily done with the migration feature. However, I have some full web server instances in 4.1 that I would like to be virtual servers in 6.0. What is the best way to do this?

    Hi,
    The best possible way is to create a virtual servers in iWS6.x and configure the same, like what you had with 4.1 instance(configuration).

  • Precalculation Server on a Virtual Server

    We have tested precalculation server for workbook with our BW 3.5 installation that we are live with for quite sometime. One of the limitations of this precalculation server is, not all of three BW systems (Dev, QA, and Prod) can be connected to one physical precalculation server. We are wondering if we could use virtual servers with one physical server, each virtual server connecting to each BW instance. Has anybody tested this before? Your feedback will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Vinay Karna

    technically it is possible to connect more than one system to one precalculation server.
    You need to logon from the machine of the precalculation server to the different BW systems and execute TA RSRPRECADMIN register an new server and restart the windows service. The server will be active in all BW systems where you performed the steps before.
    I knew that because i was the developer of the precalculation service.....

  • Copying a Business Connector System

    Hi,
    I'm in the process of migrating our business connector system to another server. The server will be built on the original OS and Business Connector release.
    Is there a way which I can just copy over the business connector settings to the new server or do I require a re-installation. How can I copy across the configuration?
    I appreciate your suggestions!
    Thanks for your assistance.

    Hi,
    you can do a basic installation and then just copy the folder sapbc47 or whatever.
    All the configuration will be included as it is under this folder.
    So here are the steps:
    1.make the installation
    2.using file explorer rename the installed server folder lets say sapbc47
    3.Copy the contents of the previous installation at the installed folder sapbc47.
    All the configuration will be included.
    you can start the server from windows command under sapbc47/server/bin/server.bat -log none -debug 5 or by windows services if you have installed it as a service..

  • Web Server 7 Admin Server and Self-Signed certificate

    Is it possible to create and install a self-signed certificate for the administration server in Sun Web Server 7. The default installation comes with a self-signed certificate but we would like to install our own certificate and not the certificate issued by "admin-ca-cert"

    As far as I know its not a problem. You can install your own certificate. Make sure that the certificate nick name is changed accordingly in "server-cert-nickname" in server.xml section as shown below :
    <http-listener>
    <name>admin-ssl-port</name>
    <port>2224</port>
    <server-name>alamanac.india.sun.com</server-name>
    <default-virtual-server-name>admin-server</default-virtual-server-name>
    <ssl>
    <server-cert-nickname>Admin-Server-Cert</server-cert-nickname>
    </ssl>
    </http-listener>

  • WebMethods Integration Server Vs.  SAP Business Connector 4.7 (BC)

    Hi All
           We have to integrate non SAP systems and SAP systems for that we have 2 options
    1)   SAP Business Connector 4.7 (BC)
    2)   webMethods Integration Server
           which one will be better option for this kind of POC by considering all the issues like interaction with SAP RFC or IDocs, performance, load balancing, salability, maintenance, etc.
         please tell us pro's and cons of both to decide upon which is better option.
         Thanks in Advance
    Thanks
    Ninad

    It is the same product, with different branding.
    The only thing is that SAP consider the SAP BC end-of-maintenance, and suggest to use XI.

  • Com.wm.app.b2b.server.ServiceException with Business Connector

    Hi Everybody,
    I could need some help with the Business Connctor 4.8...
    We just made an upgrade from SAP Business Connector 4.7 to 4.8. The new Business Connector also was moved to another server.
    The installation was fine. In SM59 the RFC test works and also the MAPS are all in green status.The routing should also be fine.
    I have the following problem when using the FM IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS to send invoices to the customers I get the following error:
    com.wm.app.b2b.server.ServiceException: com.wm.app.b2b.server.UnknownServiceException: [B2BSERV.0026.9201] Unknown service: wm.PartnerMgr.flows.MANDANT001.1STBP:INVOIC
    I also created and imported the necessary certificates to communicate with our partner by https.
    Please could you help? Is it a problem in the configuration or do I miss something with the certificates?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Lu Huynh

    Hi Lu,
    Yes that note was for SPA BC 4.7. I though it could provide you with some more insight.
    Anyway, can you recheck whether the settings which you have done for IDoc in SAP BC. There might be some problem with them.
    Also check this thread, it might be helpful (but i am not sure)
    [B2BSERV.0026.9201] Unknown service: wm.PartnerMgr
    One doubt the error message says Unknown service: wm.PartnerMgr.flows.MANDANT001.. IS the client 001?

  • SAS PE + Virtual Server

    Hi all,
    Currently i try to switch to SAS PE 9 on a new managed server.
    The hoster has installed the connection from Apache to SAS.
    Now i want to install several applications/domains with the admin web interface - thougth this is easy just:
    1. Deploy an application
    2. Create Virtual Server with special domains
    3. Bind Virtual Server to an application
    But i was not able to do this (Non-Admin).
    The log file shows: Apache mod_jk/jk2 attached to virtual-server v_one listening on port: 8009
    It seems that the connector of the hoster works, but it will only be attached to one of my virtual server named "v_one".
    Or do i have do define an HTTP-Listener on 8009 in SAS additionally.
    I get also confuse about the defaults which can be set in every window.
    Result should be this:
    www.one.com => aplication one
    www.two.com => applicaton two
    wap.two.com => applicaton two
    (The calling of the applications must work without context!)
    thanx,
    J. Hammoud

    It turned out to be an IE issue, needed to enable compatibility view.
    Now the issue is I can't seem to login. It has the kerberos authentication enabled but apparently it doesn't use my domain credentials. I have the admin password for the guest OS on the VM and I'm a member of the domain admins group on the server but I still
    can't login.
    Does virtual server have its own set of credentials? Where are those and where can I change them?
    EDIT: NVM changed it from Kerberos to NTLM and that worked.

  • Is there a forum or additional documentation for Adobe Flex Connector for MS SQL Server?

    Is there a forum or additional documentation for Adobe Flex Connector for MS SQL Server?  I am having problems getting it to work.  Also it states that it is Flash Builder 4 certified but the code is all in halo (<mx:Application ...).  I followed the documentation in the included PDF to no avail.  I am looking for additional documentation - e.g.:  a)  where exactly (which directory on the SQL Server) to store the "fas_mssql_connector.asp" file;  b) how to code the URL to the  "fas_mssql_connector.asp";  c) wondering if the product is really Flex 4 certified.  Thanks for any help (especially pointers to additional documenation).

    I do have exactly the same questions. SO far the fas_mssql_connector.asp file is placed at the 'wwwroot' folder of the 'inetpub' folder of the IIS server. As hostname I use '[MyServer]' since it should run on the same machine and username and password are correct.
    The fas_MSsql_Clean file is setup in a way that the name of the database is specified and the url to the asp file is set as: http://[MyServer]/fas_mssql_connector.asp
    My SQL query looks like this:
    private function getDbData():void
        mssqlQuery("Select * from Tomat", "getDataO3");
    And the MXML document like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute" minWidth="955" minHeight="600">
        <mx:Script source="Actionscript/MSsql.as"/>
        <mx:Script source="Actionscript/SqlQueries.as"/>
        <mx:DataGrid x="148" y="95" id="dgData">
            <mx:columns>
                <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Column 1" dataField="col1"/>
                <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Column 2" dataField="col2"/>
                <mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Column 3" dataField="col3"/>
            </mx:columns>
        </mx:DataGrid>
        <mx:Button x="148" y="264" label="Get data" id="btnGet" click="getDbData()"/>
    </mx:Application>
    However the application is busy for a long time and I do not receive a single piece of data. Any help with this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Need to create a virtual server and give its access to another admin

    Dear Sir,
    I am a new admin and have 5 Blade server "HP ProLiant BL660c Gen8".
    I access these servers through HP enclosure.
    I have to install Hyper-V on server 1 which consisted of the OS windows server 2012 R2 Datacenter edition.
    I created a plan to create 5 Hyper-V VM's on the physical server and I requested the IT department network Admin that I want these 5 VM's to able to connect to each other.
    The network Admin created a Trunking configuration on the physical server and after this setup he provided me Hyper-v node IP address and 5 more IP addresses for the 5 Hyper-v VM's.
    Now it was left to me to Add the Hyper-v role and create 5 VM's.
    While Adding the Hyper-V role, I was asked in the middle of the setup to add the network adapter for
    connecting to external network.
    I went inside the network connection settings and I see one network adapter "Microsoft Multiplexer"
    which had the IP address of the Hyper-V node which was given  to be me by Network Admin.
    Besides this I found following Network Adapter: (Mgmt,Trunk):(Mgmt A, Trunk A);(Mgmt B, Trunk B) =Total
    6 Network Adapter out of which only "Mgmt" was configured with the IP address of the Hyper-v node given by my Network Admin. Remaining all other Network adapters IPV4 configuration
    was unchecked except "Mgmt"
    So I selected the "Mgmt" connection while Installing the Hyper-v role
    SO I chose this Network connection for adding the Hyper-V role.
    My question: Did I chose the correct Network Adapter.
    After doing this I created a VM-1 and tried to assign the IP address given by the Network Admin. But the network Admin did not provide me the default gateway so I used the deafult gateway according to the IP address and used the last digit as "1"
    like a general installation.
    Now my question is: 1.How can I use this VM to be used as a Virtual server?
    2. I would like to open this VM through my browser by entering the IP address of this VM-1. How can I do this?
    Because I access my physical server through the IP address. SO in the similar way I want to access this VM-1 through the IP address
    OR is there any alternate way to access this VM-1 separately.
    My Requirement: I need to give VM-1 access to another admin to Install his application on it. SO how to give him to access this VM directly?
    This is my main query.
    Waiting for your reply.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ahmed

    Jawin, Jacob, etc.. are fine for creating COM clients but COM servers is a totally different story. I suspect you'll either have to write your own JNI or get out your C/C++ compiler.

  • How to send email to a SMTP server over a secure channel using STARTTLS setting of a send connector (Exchange and SMTP server are in the same domain)

    I’m trying to send email using exchange send connector STARTTLS setting to the SMTP server. I have read multiple documents on configuring TLS for send connector, but they talks about outbound connections to internet facing servers. My Exchange 2013 and SMTP
    server is in the same domain (let’s say A.com) and I’m creating dummy domains on my SMTP server (e.g.
    [email protected],
    [email protected] ) and their respective send connectors on the exchange server end. In the smart host section added the IP address of the SMTP server and in the scoping section added the SMTP domain address (e.g. dummy1.local ). In the FQDN field, added
    the FQDN of the exchange server 2013 which certificate is enabled with SMTP service.
    Could you tell me a step by step procedure, where I’m going wrong or any extra settings needs to added?
    Presently, it is giving me an error that 530 5.5.1 TLS encrypted connection is required.
    Note: I’ve created the Microsoft CA certificates for the SMTP and exchange servers and imported them in the personal certificate container. In which, the exchange certificate is created with FQDN name of the server and enabled for the SMTP service.
    I’m using OPENSSL certificate for making the SMTP server TLS enabled. (let me know, if I need to import the OPENSSL certificate anywhere on the exchange end)?
    Thanks!
