We are currently using BEx reporting tols on top of SAP BI and considering replacing BEx Tools with that of BO Tools.
Can you help me with list of available BO Reporting Tools and advantages of them compared to BEx tools.

Hi,
I think you are talking about SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office.
It is mainly used for highly interactive multidimensional analysis. With this tool you can connect to any queries defined in BW 7.0 (even with Query Designer 3.5) and any InfoProviders (InfoCubes, DataStore objects etc.). In addition, Analysis supports SAP HANA as a source.
You can call the Query Designer from Analysis to check the definition of a query and to change it according to your needs.

Business Objects Text Analytics - Summarizer Software Library

We have crawled a website with Summarizer services. But we are not able to view the summary from Annotation Manager. Only the XML file is generated. We have looked into the below resources to get a solution but unable to find an answer.
1.      Business Objects Text Analysis: Text Services Platform Useru2019s Guide u2013 Business Objects Summarizer Concepts and Configuration Guide
2.      Of the trainings that we have purchased, there is no training on Summarizer. Does one exist which we can purchase?
3.      We have googled out and could not find an answer.
4.      We have tried to modify the summarizeru2019s configuration files as well. But these files control only what output you see and not how you see it.
Any pointers to resolve this issue would be really helpful.

You can use Metadata Viewer (MDV) to the view the summary of each document. To access it, you can do the following:
1) Make sure that Processing Manager (PM) is up and running (as MDV resides on the same server).
2) For the collection and crawler configuration, make sure that the Directory AR Adapter is used and set to store into the default directory.
3) Enter http://localhost:7474/metavwr in the IE address bar. (Replace the server name and port with the one you run PM.) The username and password are the same as PM.
4) Once the MDV page is up, click on the collection name, then the document id that you want to view the summary.

SAP Business Objects Analysis for Office 1.4 on Microfost Office 64-Bit Version

Hello,
Has anyone installed SAP Business Objects Analysis for Office 1.4 SP6 on Microsoft Office (Excel) 64-Bit Version. I am getting message "The launcher was not able to connect Analysis Add-In. Make sure that Analysis Add-In is not disabled by Office Application".
When I activated the Analysis Add-In, I am getting below Error: "Excel experienced a serious problem with the 'analysis' add-in." and it is forcing to disable the add-in and asking to check for if any update is available. It was working fine on 32-bit Excel version.

Thanks for the response. It is working fine on 32-bit Office version (with OS 64-bit). I checked the compatibility (OSS 1466118 ) and it supports Microsoft 64-bit office version. Just wanted to see if anyone had successful installation.

How to WorkDay() Excel Function in Business Objects Web Intelligence 12.2.7

I am calculating OTD SLA metrics using the Business Object Web Intelligence, but I am stuck with the WorkDay() how to use this in BO, as it is available in Excel. Requirement is that I need to add business days (Saturdays and Sundays should not be considered) to a particular date. Error while connecting microsoft Excel to sap business objects

I am trying to connect sap business objects to Microsoft Excel using Power Query add in but i am getting Proxy time out connection error when adding
Credentials, As per the SAP documents i am using SAP Restful Web service URL when connecting to Business objects
Details are as follows:
Opearting System-:Windows 7
SAP BO Platform-:BO 4.0 SP 6 (OS-Windows server 2008 R2)
Excel Version-:Microsoft Excel 2013

please be aware that you need SAP BI 4.1 SP2 at least for using Power Query
So maybe this error results in a non suported Environment.

Business Objects Financial Consolidation - Excel Link and VBA Macros

We use the excel links of Business Objects Financial Consolidation V10.5 to import and export data to/from BOF and excel
We used VBA macros for the imports but do not know what VBA code is required to export - this code would include the package identifier that has to be selected in the window "Select item Package "

Tutorials for starting with SAP Business Objects Explorer: Excel / Crystal

Hello,
we want to start with SAP Business Objects Explorer. I have been searching for tutorials for while without success.
Are there any tutorials or documentation that shows how to work with excel-files as data source or how to upload Crystal reports files (.rpt) to the Explorer?

As far as I know the SAP BUsiness Explorer car retrieve data either from a universe or from the SAP BWA. So hat you should be looking for is information on how to set Excel files as data sources for universes.

reading through the messages, there seem to be a few questions that are raised. After attending SAP Financials 2008, here is what I got from it:
1. IP vs BPC: IP is still in production and will be developed (no commitment on time though. I was told somewhere between 18-24 months before it goes to maintenance mode). There is some functionality difference from BPC and right now these are two separate products. There is a talk of a possible integration in the "distant" future
2. BPC is in process of being developed for BI, but currently it is only running on top of Microsoft SQL server. The BI version is slated to be released June 28th, but majority of the experts are fairly pessimistic about that date.
Now, the main question is what will happen to IP when BEx and BO tools converge into one - based on my understanding, we are going to see ADDITIONAL functionality. Since all the WAD and Excel activities are based on BEx API's, it is highly unlikely that they are going to be dismissed in the new product. The process in which we assign functions/commands to the planning model might change, but I think only for the best

I am new to this forum and would like to post a message regarding the recent news on SAP and Business Objects.
Business Objects has more than 6000 CPM customers and in then meantime we find many statements like http://www.gartner.com/DisplayDocument?id=530626 in the web
Since the announcement a couple of weeks have passed. My question is, if you have detailed analysis on how the Balanced Scorecard solution of both companies will differ respectively overlap. Are there any documents on that point available? And are there any consequences to be expected e.g. with respect to the price model?

I fully agree with Prakash's reply - at the moment Nenshad's comments represent the 'only version of the truth' regarding the BOBJ acquisition.
However, there is still a possibility to add some useful information on this as you are referring to a 'Balanced Scorecard' solution in general. As there are currently two sides to this equasion: SAP and BOBJ, for the SAP part we can be more specific:
SAP Strategy Management (SSM) based on the technology acquired with Pilot Systems Co. in February 2007 is the tool of choice for scorecarding in the <u>current</u> CPM portfolio of SAP (SAP's current CPM portfolio is based on the acquisitions of Outlooksoft, Pilot and the reseller agreement with Acorn). This reduces the complexity a little bit as you no longer have to contemplate which of SAP's own scorecarding solutions is the leading one <u>at the moment</u>. SEM-CPM Balanced Scorecard is retired - being put in maintenance mode - and all customers encouraged to move to Strategy Management, facilitated by a planned migration utility.

Hi ABAP experts,
I am trying to send a SAP mail with a link. When the user clicks on the link
they will jump to a transaction passing the parameters specified in the link.
I have created the business object and want to know how to pass the
parameters in the link.
I have done it in the past so I know it can be done. I just can't seem to remember how....

You can have the fixed width of the colums in excel (No additional spaces in the column) is you use, the seperator between the fields.
For eg : If you are displaying 3 fields in the excel file, say MATNR, WERKS and QUANTITY.
Then you need to
Concatenate matnr
                      werks
                      quantity
into                ls_contents_bin-line
separated by lc_tab.
append ls_contents_bin to lt_contents_bin.
Here lc_tab is the tab seperator to be declared as follows : -
CONSTANTS : lc_tab         TYPE char01     VALUE cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab.
The internal table lt_contents_bin is then passed to the table parameters contents_bin of the FM SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1.

i had try to login SAB B1 thorugh MS Excel VBA code and it worked well. but i need some questions regards getting the data from after login. that means i want the Posting date, Transaction No, account code, debit and credit amount from Journal entries posted in a particular day through MS excel VBA into excel sheets 1 cell A1:E1

Gordons way is the easiest - just query the OJDT table for journal entry headers and JDT1 for journal entry lines if needed.
But if you want to work with the business objects:

Integartion of Business objects explorer with ABAP ALV

Hello all,
We have a requirement to integrate one of our applications with business objects explorer. The complete details is as listed below:
1. Our application basically collects feedback provided by users and then displays an ALV with all the feedback ratings received for a topic.
2. It summarizes to the user the average rating received, number of 1star ratings , 2 star ratings etc.,
3. Instead of showing this in the ALV format we have requirement where we want to upload this data into the Business Objects explorer so that the user has a more user-friendly and intutive display of the same data rather than in a ALV.
Any inputs on how we can trigger business objects explorer from ABAP code and pass the data in the internal table used for ALV display to it would be very helpful.

there has been a demo of this by Enterprise Geeks during TechED 2009 and the code is posted on their website.
the other option is to export the data to Excel and then use BusinessObjects Explorer in the cloud for example.

Business Objects Open Connectivity Configuration in Universe Connection

i'm trying to create a Universe based on a flat file. I found out this Business Objects Open Connectivity (in Generic Sources) to use files as sources.
But I'm not sure how to use it? Can anyone help with this or share a doc how to use this functionality?

Follow the below steps.
1. Save the Excel in Local disk.
2. Go to Start>>Control Panel>>Administrative tools>Data Sources(ODBC)
3. Select System DSN>>Add>>Microsoft excel Driver(*.xls)
4. Give a new data source name and click on 'Select workbook' and point the saved excel sheet and click on OK
5. Create a new connection in Universe designer by using the Generic ODBC connection
6. Create a new universe and insert the table which we have defined in the Excel sheet.
