Business OBjects Metadata Management Installation

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to install Business Objects MetadataManagement on WIndows Server 2003 and we have BOE 3.1. When the wizard is installing BOMM I get the following error:
[E-3026031] 2009-05-22 16:23:18.734 Argument C:\Program Files\Business Objects
MetadataManagement\Integrators was provided without a value, or C:\Program Files\Business Objects
MetadataManagement\Integrators is a value without an argument name.
[E-3026015] 2009-05-22 16:23:18.749 Arg[17]: C:\Program Files\Business Objects
MetadataManagement\Integrators = No value provided.
Could you help me to fix this problem?

SAP Business Objects Metadata Management 3.1 support on BI 4.0 Platform

Dear all Experts,
Since MM is no longer found in BI 4.0, we would like to know, is that possible to install MM 3.1 and connect to BI 4.0 platform? (we are currently going to launch a Platform upgrade project, from XIR2 ( BO and Data Integrator) to BI 4.0.)
As far as I know, Information Steward is introduced in 4.0 to replace MM, however, it seems that IS requires extra license to be purchased. Therefore, we would like to know, can we install MM 3.1 instead and integrate with BI 4.0 and DS 4.0 (as the latest PAM of MM 3.1 is released years ago, we dont know if there is anything new is not updated).

yes - the CMS has to run during the setup. Starting and Stopping mechanisms are in the setup included.

Business Object Integration kit Installation for SAP

I am trying to install Business Object Integration kit for SAP, I have done all the steps according to the installation manual but Web Client doesnot have authentication as SAP .

Business Objects - Lifecyle Management Services

Is there anyone who knows about BOE LCM? We are planning to install a 3-tier (Dev/QA/Prod) Business Objects environments. Our desire is to develop in Dev, move to QA for testing and Prod. We would prefer not to have end users develop Xcelsius dashboards in production. Just looking for anyone with experience or additional SAP documentation I can not find.

BusinessObjects Metadata Management installation

I need to install BOMM on the linux platform. Is it required to install a component called 'metadata integrator' besides installing BOMM on the linux server? Is 'metadata integrator' supported on Windows only? If so, it means I need to have two servers to run BOMM (Linux + Windows), is it right?

you can install only MM Repository component and Web Tier on any Unix env
Integrators are supported only on windows env, yes you will need a windows server/machine also for MM

Business Objects Universes generation

Hi everyone,
We wish to install and use Web Intelligence (Business Objects Enterprise Premium). I understand that Web Intelligence requires universes and that they can be generated via Universe Designer or Universe Builder. With these tools, we can generate a universe using the metadata from the source (BW from example).
1. Is having the metadata available at the source a requirement to generate a universe? If not, what are the other options available? Best practices?
2. Is there an integration with Metadata Management? If yes, what's SAP's flagship product for metadata management? Where can I get more info on the subject?

Web Intelligence and Universe Designer have separate documentation, even though they're part of the SAP Business Objects Enterprise suite of products.

In order to create/maintain a Universe in Universe Designer, you have to have a connection to the database or infrastructure where the data being used for reporting resides (e.g. SAP BW or SAP Business Objects Rapid Marts), thereby exposing the source tables for use in a Universe. Metadata isn't required for creating/maintaining Universes in Universe Designer. For Universe Builder, however, metadata or Oracle Analytic Services are required to create Universes.

Looking for a Business Objects Universe built for OIM

My company has Business Objects and Management prefers to do reporting using the BO product. Also adding reports to OIM requires several database changes and a redeploy to push out the label changes, and that causes the skitters with Management. We have a team that is looking at creating a BO Universe for the OIM database, but as you know, a lot of display transformation work is done in the Java WebApp and that would need to be modeled in the SELECTs in the Universe.
Does anyone have a BO Universe already built for OIM?

Business objects are real world entities modeled as objects in an information system.
Business objects encapsulate both data structures and the functions applied to the data, but hide their full complexity from other objects. This encapsulation of data and functions makes it easier to modify program components, because you can program with the relevant entities without having to know all the implementation details. You can also reuse existing functions.
WHat and where business objects can be useful ?
Client programs access business objects by reading their attributes, or by calling the methods that make up the objects interface:
Attributes
Attributes describe the data stored in an object through a set of properties. They provide direct read access to the data structures of objects, but client programs cannot change them from outside.
Methods
Methods provide a way to encapsulate the data structures of business objects, and to process them. When accessing an object, the client program calls a method with parameters and gets back return parameters.
Interface
The interface is the set of methods associated with a business object, and determines how an object interacts with the outside world.
The client program defines the object types to be used and, at runtime, creates object instances of those object types.
SAP business objects are managed in R/3's Business Object Repository (BOR).

CMS is not started, giving up while Insatlling Business Objects XI 3.0

I am trying to install Business Objects XI 3.0 in Linux. But it is failing at 55% all the time. I checked the log at that time and it is like

and this is repeating till 210 seconds
I have opted for this steps while installing
1. New enterprise install ( enable severs after installation)
2. Default ports
3. Use existing database(oracle).
4. Use existing Java application server, do not deploy web applications.
Please help with your suggestion.

I already try installing with MySql and I can see again these messages in my installation log file.
At the moment SAP Support can not give any advice to resolve this problem, do you have any idea why this can be?? and if somebody know anything about the error message that said "method amibiguos" because i believe there is the problem.
These are the resolution sending by SAP, I already try this but still the same.
Symptom
Segmentation fault during the CMS initialization phase of the install
Core file may be created in the <bobje> directory and install will abort
Gdb output of the core file shows the following:
#0 0xf63cdeee in process_next_block () from <install location>/bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86/libWrapCryptoC.so
Reproducing the Issue
1. Launch installation of XIR3 or XIR3.1 on Linux running on AMD Quad Core Opteran chipset
2. Monitor the installation and notice that at approximately 55% during the install the CMS initialization phase will begin
3. CMS initialization will throw a segmentation fault and the installation will abort
Cause
The issue has been identified as a product defect and tracked under ID ADAPT01258674. The defect is in a 3rd party library which is embedded in Business Objects XI3.1 release.
Resolution
Launch the Business Objects XI3.1 installation on Linux.
Wait for the installer to extract the libWrapCryptoC.so file under <install location>/bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86 directory. This will happen well before the install reaches 55% completion.
While the install is running, and before the CMS initialization begins, replace the libWrapCryptoC.so under the <install location>/bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86directory with the modified file (see attached).
Let the install continue and you will see the CMS initialize successfully.
The file is uploaded on the SAP site.

Issue With Business Objects Installation-STW00213 The Central Management Server has failed to start.

Hi,
I am in the process of installing Business Objects XI 3.1 in one of our server. While installing I am getting the error 'The Central Management Server has failed to start. Press 'retry' to attempt to start it again or 'cancel' to skip any actions dependendent on the Central Management Server. STW00213.'
I have tried re-installing the BO, and also tried installing without giving admin password. But it doesn't work. And also I ahve tried giving the passwords of database and CMS Admin without Sepcia Characters. But it also doesn't work.
If I cancel and install the BO, Server Intelligence Agent is not available in Central Management Server.
Could anyone help on this issue?

Hi Prakadesh,
Try these steps.
1. Stop and disable the service of current SIA. You can do it from start-->run services.msc. Double click the SIA service and change the status to disable.
2. Login into sqlplus and drop all the CMS tables.
3. Create a new SIA pointing to Oracle from the CCM.
4. Start the new SIA and check if all services come up and you are able to login into Manager servers.
If this does not work, check the event viewer for error messages.

Either the database role with the ID of 'EnvironmentShell Role' does not exist in the database with the ID of 'EnvironmentShell', or the user does not have permissions to access the object.'

Thank you for your answer.
I can complete the installation by clicking on the 'OK' button. As if the error is ignored by the system during the installation.
But, after the installation is completed, the deployment of the OLAP cube with (with restore) is not working. we get an error message. I think it is related to the first one.
Is it mandatory to restart the Send Governor after the installation?

Business Objects Installation Issue

Hi,
I installed Business Objects Enterprise XI Release 3 on my system
OS : Windows XP Service Pack 2
After Installation I don't see Server Intelligence Agent under Central Configuration Manager.
I only see Tomcat Server on that dialog box.
Is there any alternative way to add Server Intelligence Agent ?

the server version of BOBJ XI 3.x is not supported on Windows XP. I would suggest to take a look at the Supported Platforms document
