Buy Mountain Lion: The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
Hi community,
When trying to buy Mountain Lion I get: "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.”, any clue on how to fix this issue? It only happens in one of my computers.
In the console I get an error when trying to purchase it:
7/26/12 9:50:34.387 PM App Store: FRPurchaseManager: Preflight operation for 537386512 failed with error: Error Domain=com.apple.appstore Code=0 "The product distribution file could not be verified. 1) I deleted the /var/folders/8l folder (gets recreated when opening the app), no result.
2) Tried to check "Best attempt" for both OCSP and CRL certificate management in Key Chain.
No result in any way.
Any idea?
Hello
It can be an issue related to antivirus so disable it or download in safe mode

Hello to everyone that helped me.
I have tryed all the solutions that you have offered, but with no sucsess.
I have also tryed to contact the support from the AppStore, but I only got the answer please contact our other collegues, from the Technical Support unit.
I tryed as the last atemped to reinstall Lion 10.7 through the AppStore (by going to purchases) after I went through the process, downloading and installing, I could also purchase, download and install Mountainlion.
(one small hick-up, after I finished downloading Lion, the AppStore gave me the same Message as before:
The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
I just pressed the button to download, again. After that I had no more issues.)
I hope that this will help you.
Best Regards
Rene
Hello,
In my case, that would not be possible since before the message I have got , the system said
"We could not complete your App Store request" or something similar. And the only choice I had, is to click on OK button. As I said, the only way I found is to start from Mac OS 10.6 to succeed in buying, not only downloading, but simply buying Mountain Lion.

I just tried to buy Mountain Lion but I am getting this message, yes, even after I reboot: The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
I don't understand what this means? Is my MacBookPro too old to work with Mountain Lion? The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. When I try to upgrade to Mountain Lion OS form Lion OS, after I select the "Buy App" option I get this "We could not complete your purchase. The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed" message, what is causing this problem, how can I find a solution, is someone else having this problem?
The only thing that worked for me was to boot in safe mode.
Power down. Then press power button and hold 'shift' key until grey screen with progress bar appears... Once booted and logged in just open safari and browse to applestore.
No trouble at all once I did this.
Reminder: create full backup before you upgrade OS

Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy / paste: /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go then move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store. Try purchasing Mountain Lion. -

If you have Intego VirusBarrier X6 installed
1. Open /Applications/VirusBarrier X6.
2. Click on the "Surf" button.
3. Click on the "Ad Banner Filter" tab.
4. Click "OFF" next to "Banner advertisement filter".
5. Start the computer in Safe Boot, then restart the computer into normal mode.
If don't not have Intego Virus Barrier installed
1. Verify that the date and time is correct on the computer.
2. Safe Boot once, then restart normally, then try downloading again.
3. Try with a different user account if the issue persists
If the issue persists
Install Lion onto an empty partition (internal or external).
Note: You can Use Disk Utility to live partition the internal drive and create a second partition large enough to install Lion.
Start from the clean installation of Lion.
Download Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store. Note that the original startup disk can be set as the destination for Mountain Lion during the installation process. -
