Buying Logic X do I need to uninstall 9 ?

Hi everyone, I'm Buying Logic Pro X do I need to uninstall Logic 9 0r should I leave it on my MacBook Pro ?

No... You don't need to uninstall Logic Pro 9 unless you wish to, to save some disk space for example.  Personally, I would keep it installed for the time being in case you need to drop back to the earlier version if you come across any issues using LPX. (Like projects that used 32bit plugins that are no longer supported in LPX)

  • I buy logic pro but i get no serial number to license it

Hi, i buy last night logic pro in the app store . I download it and install it, but now he want an Serial number for licensing.
    i got no serialnumber!
    any idea?

App Store apps do not require serial numbers. Did you have another version of this app installed before you bought the MAS version? Did you properly remove the previous version before installing the MAS version?
If no, you will need to uninstall all of the current installation of Logic Pro and then download and install the MAS version again. Use an app remover, such as AppZapper, AppDelete or the free AppCleaner.

  • Do I need to uninstall?

Logic 8 starts to open and then quits (after hard drive crash and a TM back up). Do I need to uninstall Logic 8 before reinstalling? If so, are there directions for a proper uninstall.

I never had really good results restoring programs from a TM backup. Documents and such work fine. Try to reinstall Logic. My guess is that some deeper system files or the authorization files Logic needs are not restored.

  • Do I need to uninstall academic version before installing retail version?

I've been using my academic version of Final Cut Studio professionally and decided that I would buy the retail version when Studio 3 came out. So I purchased the New Version and am about to install. Since this is a full version, and not an upgrade version, I'm wondering if I need to uninstall my academic version of Studio 2 first?

Read this thread for some great tips:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2113535&tstart=50
Your new full version should just overwrite the old one in any case, but Jerry and the others give sound advice in the thread linked above.

  • DO I need to Uninstall Prior Version of Reader to Install Udated Version

Hello, I am running a Dell XPS with Vista Home Premium. The PC came with Adobe Reader 7.0. When I try to run it, message states there is a compatibility issue between Vista and that version of Reader. I want to upgrade to 8.1.2 but would like to know if I need to uninstall the older version first before downloading and installing the newer version?
Also, I noticed a lot of people with problems installing 8.1.2. Is this version safe to install and use on Vista?
    Thanks very much.

You don't need to delete the previous Logic Pro version before installing Logic Pro X. Logic Pro X is a new version and won't replace the old Logic Pro version, so if you like Logic Pro X and that's what you need after testing it, remove the old Logic Pro

  • What logic board do I need

Hi there, I got my brothers old macbook and was thinking of fixing it. I know its the logic board because we had it tested when it failed for him in the past and for some reason I've resurectted the idea of getting it going again. Its a A1226. Now, I've been looking for logic boards for prices just to get a ball park and Im willing to risk it. However,  I want to make sure I get the correct logic board. I need to somehow fire this thing up so I know exactly which processer it was. I'd run the serial # but the under belly is so scratched that I cant read it unless I find a magnifying glass. Any how, any advice on how to find out the correct logic board for this laptop. Would I have to open it up?  THanks for any help.

Since your specs at the bottom say 1.5GHz, you need the logic board that goes with the 1.5GHz 12-inch PowerBook G4. You can buy these on eBay or from resellers that have them in stock.
Logic boards along with LCD screens are the most expensive parts, of course, since they are the most crucial to its operation.
    Don't buy a 1.33Ghz, a 1.0GHz, or an 867MHz logic board.
Apple has a flat-rate repair, but it is not necessarily cheaper. Depending on the condition of your PowerBook, inside and outside, the flat-rate may be bumped up based on "tiers." The flat-rate costs about $300 for "everything" (parts and labor) if all checks out and is approved by the Genius Bar and the subsequent techs at the Service Center.
If there is an issue, it might cost more. Those, I don't have information on. (Price-wise).
If you're gung-ho and want to replace it yourself, you have that option. Or, choose your own service center to do it for you. (TechRestore.com, MacService.com, etc.-- even a local "mom and pop" shop in your city).

  • Installing full LR3 after Trial Version; need to uninstall first?

I'm currently running LR3 Trial version on my Mac but I decided to buy the full version.  Do I need to uninstall the trial version before installing the full version?
    Thanks.

All you need to do is enter the serial number into the trial version.  In fact if you purchased a boxed set with a CD, do not bother to load LR3 from the CD as it will most likely not be the most current version (3.7)

  • Thinking Of Buying Logic Pro, A Few Questions.....

    Hi guys,
    I have recently just bought a 20" Intel imac and am seriously thinking of selling my current setup to buy Logic Pro 7;
    Current Setup
    Reason 3.0 (Def Sell)
Mbox 2 + Pro Tools 7 LE (Def Sell)
    Roland V-Synth XT (May Keep)
    MPC 1000 (Def Keeping)
The reason that I have listed my main components is so that you can advice me as to whether its worth me going through the hassle of changing, what I will lose / gain (as I understand that Logic comes with alot of built in instruments etc but may not have certain features of Pro Tools LE, i.e Beat Detective etc, but I am sure its prob better overall).
I haven't really used Pro Tools LE yet so changing DAW isn't a problem from the standpoint of learning something new as I haven't yet learnt LE.
I understand that I will need a new external sound card as well (like the Mbox) so any reccomendations on that would also be great.
I also understand that Logic Pro 7.2 (the intel compatible version isn't out for a month or so) but thats fine as thus far my newly purchased Mbox 2 isn't compatible anyway and I am happy just getting my head round the new operating system for the MPC for the next month anyway
So in a nutshell, to the Logic users out there, whats it like, pros / con's etc? Also what main differences are there between Pro and Express?
Im gonna try googling a few reviews online but I have always trusted peoples opinions on here more so than magazine reviews so thanks for any advice in advance.
    Cheers, Nathan
P.S, sorry for the long post and amount of questions but this is going to be a big change for me and just want to make sure I don't dive in head first and then regret it.

I do all sorts of music (R&B, Hip hop, salsa, reggae and all that )
and logic has never been easier
I see most of friends using cubase with reason and its a pain to what they go through
    example
    open cubase then open reason
save cubase as a project then save reason as well
rewire then start recording both together requires more CPU than having 10-20 EXS24 as plugins in logic
after you are done save cubae then save reason
when ever you need to go back again open cubase the open reason before your song will play and sometimes if you make a mistake then reason will change the tempo when you launch then you gotta remember what the original tempo was
worse thing ever is if you wanna continue at another studio you gotta make sure the person has both reason and cubase then the whole open and open starts again
I was always bored each time i went there
I gave him some bass line and old school samples and it wouldn't match his tempo
but in logic i can change the tempo and it it matches (its not 100% but for hip hop with short samples like 8bars chipmunk samples is perfect
even Kanye West feels Logic and he has been know to be the ultimate champ of sampling
but don't throw or sell any of your analogs or external synth
alotta people will pay alot to get em again ( trust )
all i can say is with MPC and Logic, there is nothing you can do when it comes to hip hop
alotta cats are on Fruityloops I still use it for drums sometimes

  • Master collection 5.5 vs design premium 5.5...need to uninstall?

I have the Master Collection 5.5 on my macbook pro. I had to do a reinstall after some repairs and my collection reverted to trial. I no longer have the serial number, and never registered it, so I'm stuck buying the software again. I've found a download/serial number of Design Premium 5.5 for a reasonable price and will purchase it (I only use indesign, photoshop, and illustrator anyway). Can I use that serial number on the screen that pops up from my master collection, or do I need to uninstall master collection and install design premium (does design premium come as a package or is it just each application separately?)?
    Thanks for the help!

You will have to uninstall and install the premium package. your serial number won't work on an MC. DP is a suite just like MC and uses a single installer to put multiple apps at once on your computer.

  • Buying Logic Studio 9

    Dear ALL,
I would like to buy Logic Studio 9, but I am not sure if ALL the updates (9.1) will need to be purchased separately...
If so, that make the price for the overall package nearly 800$...
    Did I get it right?
Thanks in advance for your advice
    C

Hello Ciccio, do not worry, you will not need to purchase the updates separately.  The updates are for free once you have installed the original Logic Studio 9 on your computer.  I have just updated to 9.1.3.  Of course, whenever a new version of Logic is released (eg version 10 one day), it will very probably be a paid upgrade.  All the best, Carlos.

  • HT1751 I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I use a Flash Drive to do so?

I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). I have IE 8 on Windows XP, and iTunes 10 something. In my Program files list I see iTunes and iTunes (2) and even iPod and iPod (2) where a tech had to back up and do this for me before. I'm just trying to fix it all. I keep getting the "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below." I can even run a search and find the folder, but it gives me the same error message. I was planning on using the Microsoft Fix-It tool  to help uninstall then Reinstall iTunes. But I need to backup my library. So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I copy the folder to desktop or can I use a Flash Drive to backup my music? I don't want to do anything until I know for sure how I can backup my songs, and then reinstall them into iTunes. Thanks for any help.

Ok, thanks that helps. I don't have an external hard drive though. What about backing up through 'the cloud'? I'm just wondering since my husband syncs his iPod to the PC through iTunes and he's worried that he will lose all the songs on his iPod if the library is lost from iTunes and he tries to 'sync' it up again. I'm not exactly sure how to  'copy the entire iTunes folder' either. I kinda suck at this unless I have step by step instructions, which I haven't found yet on iTunes help or other sources.
The only way I know how to back anything up is by going back to a restore point, etc. (as stated before, we don't have an external hard drive.)
    Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • I need to uninstall Adobe Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller 14.0 r0

I need to uninstall Adobe® Flash® Player Installer/Uninstaller 14.0 r0 but have looked everywhere for how to do this & can not find out how to do this can someone please help? I am using A Sony Vaio, Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, I use Chrome Version 36.0.1985.143 m.
I want to get it off of my system because ever since I installed it I have had problems with Chrome loading it does not want to load then if I restart my comptuter & I click on chrome  5 windows open up at one time a white box appears saying "Your profile can not be used because it is from a newer browser version of google chrome. Some features may be available. Please specify a different profile directory  or use a different version of chrome" then if you click ok it shuts all the windows down. I have figured a way to get one window to stay open so I can use chrome, now I do have other browser I can use but I do not like them  at all & do not have a flash player since mine is built in with Chrome. So on to the other problem that began as soon as I downloaded this & I understand it may not be this but I still want to get it off of my computer. I also have been having trouble with my flash player error messages: saying it has stopped working constantly, it says upgrade flash text, a plug in shock wave flash isn't responding then in (stop plug in) it wants you to hit.  I have run 3 different Mallware programs through my computer just in case that was one question that was going to be ask. No other programs jave been downloaded wither.
I am not very good with computers so I have to come to places like this for help & I really have to have help explaining what to do because  do not know much about computers other then getting on them & surfing the web & some basic things. When chromes message said specify a different profile directory that went right over m head. So that should give you an idea where I am coming from. I want to thank you in advance & hope I have made sense in what I have written I tried to give all the information that I could.

Your screenshot of task manager clarifies things.
When I replied, I had been looking at the screenshot of the desktop from the original poster, which shows the uninstaller executable and it's properties.  That executable doesn't install anything -- it can just be dragged to the trash; however, that didn't completely align with the behaviors either of you were describing, and we've been trying to figure out what you were talking about.  It wasn't making a lot of sense to me, and it's not a question that I've seen come up before, at least not articulated this way.
FlashUtil32_XX_XX_XX_XX.exe is the sandbox broker for Internet Explorer.  You can read more about the sandbox work here: Flash Player Security with Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10
The description listed in Task Manager is a bug, and the source of the confusion.  We've been doing a lot of work modernizing our build systems, and this is fallout from that work. This is something I'd like to see cleaned up, but it's pretty low on the list of priorities.
The broker service is invoked when Internet Explorer is running in Protected Mode.  On my Windows 7 machine running IE 10, running Flash content in Internet Explorer with Protected Mode enabled causes the broker service to be invoked (this is probably true for previous versions as well, but I didn't test them).  If I disable Protected Mode and restart Internet Explorer, the broker is not invoked, which is expected.
To disable Protected Mode, launch Internet Explorer and choose security.  Uncheck Enable Protected Mode.  Internet Explorer will restart, and you should be able to verify that the broker is no longer invoked when loading content with Flash Player.
I've included a screenshot showing the expected processes in both scenarios below.  As the Flash Player ActiveX control is loaded into an Internet Explorer process, you'll see the child explorer.exe process listed, which hosts the Flash ActiveX control in the process list.
Sandboxing the Flash Player plug-in is an important security mitigation intended to increase the cost of successfully developing and deploying malware.  While it's not a panacea, it significantly raises the bar for attackers.  As I'm sure you've read in the news and trade literature, the threat landscape has evolved significantly over the last few years, and modern security threats and their mitigations are a necessary reality.  New mitigations typically come with some additional processing overhead.  The overhead varies based on the architectural choices made by the particular browser vendors, but the overhead in IE is pretty reasonable.
We haven't published a blog post specific to IE, but if you're interested in the implementation details, the sandbox architecture is similar to what we did with Protected Mode for Firefox on Windows.  The Flash Player process that handles untrusted content runs at Low Integrity, which restricts access to critical system resources in the event that you encounter malware designed to take control of the Flash Player process.  Access to system resources is negotiated through a Medium Integrity broker process.  Without Protected Mode, the Flash Player process handling untrusted content runs at Medium Integrity, making it easier for malware to escalate privileges from a hijacked process.  Depending on the functionality in play, a lot of message-passing can take place between IE, the broker and Flash Player.  We've effectively doubled the number of messages that get passed, plus put a bunch of validation checks in, and all of that consumes CPU.  It also makes your web browsing activity more secure.
Some desktop applications (Yahoo Messenger, for example) also use the ActiveX version of Flash Player installed on your machine.  This could explain why you see Flash Player and the broker invoked unexpectedly.  We're also aware of an issue on Vista where the broker doesn't always exit as expected.  In that instance (and on WinXP), I'd highly recommend that people use Google Chrome for web browsing, as Google has extended some security mitigations that would only be available to Internet Explorer users running in newer versions of Windows, and it doesn't suffer from this specific issue with the broker.

  • Do I need to uninstall Crystal Reports Server 2008?

    Hello,
We recently installed Crystal Reports Server 2008 and began migrating reports off the CR Enterprise 9 platform and things were going pretty well.
One of our other locations began moving over their reports that are ran against an Oracle database and cannot get passed a connectivity issue. We found the following:
    Oracle connectivity issues
If you are installing Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 on a 64-bit Windows
platform, Oracle database connectivity issues may occur. If Crystal Reports
Server 2008 V1 is installed to a location that contains brackets in the folder
path, for example, C:\Program Files (x86)\, it will be unable to connect
to an Oracle database. Certain Oracle database clients such as version
10.2.0.2 or 10.1.0.2, may not function properly with any application that
has brackets in its folder path. When installing Crystal Reports Server 2008
V1, select an installation path that does not contain brackets, such as
C:\Program Files x86\ or contact Oracle support for an updated database
    client.
We of course have everything installed in the default (x86) folder. My question is, is there a way to move the installation, or do I need to uninstall/re-install? If I need to re-install, is there a way to back-up and reload all of my existing jobs?

    Hello,
CR must have the Oracle client installed. Unless you use a Wired Driver, which has the client engine built in, CR requires a client to be installed. It never has worked without the client installed.
Also, I've found that if you have more than one Oracle client installed it causes problems. Make sure the first one in the PATH statement points to the latest version of the client.
And yes you are correct, ODBC is a layer on top of the native client so it will be slower obviously because it has to go through one more layer of dll's to get to the server.
    Thanks again
    Don
