Cad software for loft conversion

I am looking to try and convert my loft space into a room, and would like to try and design the look of the room. Im not an experience CAD designer but would like to give it a try if anyone has a suggestion of any software I can try. Please help.

Take a look at Live Interior. I've only given it a quick look, but it might work for you. You can download a demo version and try it before you purchase.

  • Professional CAD-Software for Mac

I intend to buy an IMac G5 soon, but I´m worried that there will be no serious CAD-Software available for Mac - such as Autocad, Rhinoceros or 3D-Studio...i really nead that programms cause i´m working as an architect.
Can someone tell me whether there is a possibillity to run all my Windows Software on Mac platform, cause i heard that emulation software makes Windows Progs so slow?
    Thanks

You will not like trying to run any graphics program via virtual PC. This site is devoted to the mac-using architecture/design community:

  • Need advice on software for batch conversions

    Hi,
I have a need for some software that will help me batch convert images in Photoshop CS3. I run Windows XP SP2. The computer has 2.40GH and 1GB of RAM.
I do product photography and the main output to clients is a cd with their images in multiple file types and sizes. Up until now, I've been using Extensis Portfolio 7 to do this most efficiently. For some unknown (to me) reason, since I've upgraded to CS3 and use LightRoom for initial screenings of images, some of the edited tiff images don't want to convert in Portfolio. I've also noticed that if I try to view them in Windows Explorer, the problem tiffs won't preview as thumbnails and when clicked on, I receive the message "drawing failed." Do you have any idea of what that means? I tried looking it up under Help, but that doesn't seem to be covered.
Unfortunately, Extensis no longer supports my version of Portfolio, I asked the guys at the NAPP help desk and to be brief, they weren't helpful either. I'm reluctant to buy the update to Portfolio if there's another less expensive program that can help me with just the batch conversion function. That's really all I've been using Portfolio for.
Why is this a more complicated problem? I have been told by one client that when she tried opening the tiff images I placed on her cd that they wouldn't open and at first I thought she just inexperienced, didn't have the right software on her MAC, whatever, now I susupect that there may be something fatally wrong with the tiffs. They open just fine on my computer as long as I am opening them in the CS3 that created them. And the weird thing is that most of the images from the shoot are just fine. I tried using another raw image of the same object and going through the whole editing process and had the same problem. I'm so puzzled and wondered if someone where you are could provide any clues.
I've spent hours and hours trying to puzzle this out on my own and I can't seem to see any differences between the images that seem to work just fine and the ones that don't work.
Any ideas you might have or referrals to someone else who might be able to help me figure this out and fix it would be so great.
    Thanks for reading this,

    Thanks for your response.
Any suggestions on places to post the file?
To answer your question on why not just use the batch action in PS:
I could and have, but the Portfolio option just made it much more streamlined for the large number of images I have to convert at one time. Often, they are not uniform in dimension. As I see it there are 3 variables I have to convert for:
    file type, tiff and jpeg
file size, 300 ppi vs 72 ppi
    file dimensions, various sizes
As I have experimented with the PS batch conversions I can only work with one or two of these 3 at a time. Portfolio let me deal with all 3 at once. So, if I convert from tiff to jpeg with PS batch conversions, I can adjust for the file dimensions but then I have to go back each time and individually adjust the file size. When I have 20 or 30 images, that gets to be time consuming and aggravating.
I tried opening the problem images in the Paint utility and got the message "this is not a valid bitmap file or its format is not currently supported." The files I can open in Paint are the same ones that open in Portfolio.
Is it possible that when these files are loaded into LightRoom, that something is being converted without my request? The newest variable in the equation has been my addition of LightRoom into my workflow.
    Any ideas are welcome!

If you search the archinect forums for "mac software" you will find 44 topics with hundreds of responses to similar questions, some of which link back to topics here in Apple's Discussions. If you register with archinect, you can ask your own questions.
In the meantime, post your questions about CAD software for OS X in the Using Tiger forum (or in the forum dealing with Usage for your hardware, whatever that may be) where you may find more focused attention to your issue. This forum, as its title suggests, isn't intended for technical questions, but for feedback on Apple Discussions itself.
    Good luck.

Depending on the file formats, you may not have to do any conversion.
The following shows what the native Quicktime Player Supports:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3775
and Quicktime Player is pretty much the core for all Apple app
    playback.
And if that doesn't cover it, there are other players, many of
which are free, that may cover what you need (WINAMP, VLC,

  • What is a reliable conversion dvd software for ipad 2

what is a reliable conversion dvd software for ipad 2 and compatible with windows vista?

    Handbrake.
Note that Handbrake doesn't decrypt an encrypted DVD, it relies on your DVD driver to do that for you (most Windows 7 and all OS X drivers perform the decryption for you).
If the DVD is encrypted and your DVD driver does not perform the decryption for you, it probably means that it isn't licensed for that purpose. In that case, Handbrake won't work.
Be mindful of both copyright and DMCA rules in the US. Under US copyright law, copying or format-shifting a work is fine in certain circumstances ("fair use" - editorializing, making parody, educational purposes, content backup, format shifting for personal use), but they are limited. However, in the USA, accessing an encrypted work without a licensed decryption tool is a felony EVEN IF YOU HOLD THE COPYRIGHT ON THE ENCRYPTED WORK. In fact, posessing an unlicensed encryption tool, or even writing down numbers or algorithms associated with decrypting content is a felony - so don't do it (in the US).
If you live outside the US, then generally there's rules against redistribution of works, but little to none against decrypting or making personal copies. Check with the local authority in your jurisdiction for more info.

i think quicktime pro will do that.

  • Suggestions for CAD software?

Not sure if this is the best forum to post this question, but I am looking for good CAD application for Mac...I do not need anything too in depth (I'm a beginner) and all of my drawings will be primarily basic floor-plan layouts in 2D.
I've looked at VectorWorks Fundamentals, but it seems way too intimidating. I've also seen the CADtools plug-in by HotDoors for Adobe Illustrator, but I've read mixed reviews on that.
The few basics of CAD that I do know, I learned while using DesignCAD 17 for Windows, but they do not make a version for Mac.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Officejet 7000 freezes CMS Intellicad CAD software after printing.

I am using a HP Officejet 7000 A3 printer with ethernet connection to my XP workstation to print from CMA Intellicad CAD software.  To print, I have to change the printer preferences to an A3 mono landscape shortcut in the printer setup.  When the job finishes printing, Intellicad freezes and has to be forcibly shut down.  Perhaps an incompatible DLL?

    Hello,
There is an print driver update available below for your product, try to install it and see if this helps:
    Download Page:

Also, does it freeze with A3 paper only or any paper size?
Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for your quick response. I can then use a ZIP drive for data storage. I want to keep as much of my hard drive free of data as possible.

  • O.T. Are You Interested In Photo Masking/Compositing Software For Windows ?

'Recomposit is a photo masking and compositing tool which precisely isolates image object from its background and merges it with others. The advanced masking methods: Bluescreen also called chroma key technology and inside/Outside edge will keep any details, hair, edge, shadow and transparency after they are recomposed. Recomposit also provides full environment to further compositing work without any support from other softwares.'
    http://www.newfreedownloads.com/Multimedia-Graphics/Image-Editors/Recomposit.html

Hmmmm -- I'm not sure why the sofware company would be censored, but I can certainly see why the cu combination might (as it could be netspeak for other things).
I actually did check out about four other Windows type conversion software for Apple TV and none of them was as fast and/or offered batch conversion. I know you're a Mac guy so I assume you advise people not to buy this because of hearsay, but that could still be valid depending on the source (however, if I'm wrong and you have personal experience with it forgive me).
I've been working in the video industry for 3 decades so I do have a little experience with judging video quality (although none of my work involved the newer codecs -- I retired long before H264 came along). Based on my comparison with what I did for broadcast the software does a good job but perhaps it's smoke and mirrors. I can only attest to the results and not to any other controversy surrounding it.
To me the batch conversion is the key -- if there is other software that can convert multiple files (into discreet files) then I'd be willing to check it out.

  • Best DVD Burning Software for My Powerbook

I just got a burner and was curious as to what the best software for burning was?

The point is Popcorn does two things - compresses non-protected DVD media to fit a single DVD and some file conversions many of which you can cover with QT pro or MPEG Streamclip.
Toast 7 does as well plus is a full service DVD /CD writiing program. Popcorn came out while Toast 6 existed which did not compress.
For some reason Roxio still pitches Popcorn 2 and tries to sell it relentlessly to Toast 7 owners at a discount, which makes no sense. Since Toast 7 has the technology. I guess I should not be surprised as Roxio still pitches the new Toast 7 to people who already upgraded at a discount to Toast 7. From Roxio.
As for a DVD burning program, it is not that at all - it is a MPEG-2 compressor and that is the extent of its value other than file conversions. You cannot make data discs or anything else since that would limit sales of Toast 7.
The OP wanted a DVD burning program not a one hit wonder. Too bad you bought Popcorn, no need to flog it to people who want better.

  • Mechanical Engineering CAD Softwares in Macbook Pro

I would like to buy a MacBook pro for my personal & official use. First of all I want to introduce myself, I’m Karthik mohankumar working as design engineer in hydraulics. Will MacBook pro run CAD software’s such as Creo 2.0, Solidworks, Auto CAD, Catia V5 & Ansys with bootcamp option.
Definitely I want to install & work Creo 2.0, Auto Cad & Catia in same system. If yes kindly suggest me the best configuration for MacBook pro. Also need to know the performance comparison between native windows & bootcamp windows to this software's, also battery backup.

AutoCad is available for the native OS X operating system. Neither Creo nor Catia are - they're Windows only programs.
You could run Windows under Boot Camp on a MacBook Pro and you would get the full hardware support available in Windows as a similarly configured Windows machine. You should have no problem running either under Boot Camp.
If you want to run all three apps concurrently, you could always run Windows as a virtual machine under something like Parallels (which is what I use). You have to share hardware with Windows in this case but I can run Photoshop CC under both systems at the same time and still render 3D in both OSs.
See ds store's excellent article - Windows in Boot Camp or as a virtual machine?
    Good luck,
    Clinton
