Calculation in Cost Base COPA

Dear COPA Expert,
Condition Type: PXXX ($590)- Overridden price at the store
Condition Type: PBEW ($600) - List Price
In COPA, I would like to calculate Price Override Amount = PBEW ($600) - PXXX ($590) = $10 and show as "Price Override Discount".
Is it possible to perform such calculation in COPA?
This calculation is possible in SD using ABAP routine, however, due to performance concern of posting billing document (we have so many billing documents generated per hour), if possible, I would like to perform this calculation in COPA.
Best Regards,
Kimiko

Hello Kimiko,
Through KFS its pretty possible.  Check the below link for more info.

  • Decesion of Costing base COPA over Account base

    Dear Gurus,
I have read the defination of costing based and account based copa and understood the conceptual part of it.
On what basis does a a particular business determines that whether they will have to go for  costing or account based copa or both ? In other words what are the parameter that I have to keep in mind before I suggest any of the copa method to the business?
    Thanks

    Hi
Costing based COPA is always preferred over Acct Based COPA (ABC), for the following reasons
Costing based vs. Account based copa (ABC)
    a. Account based copa uses transaction tables and hence affects performance of CO transactions
    b. Estimated values not possible in ABC (Stat Values)
    c. Reports based on line items not possible in ABC
    d. Actual Top Down distribution not available in ABC
    e. Revaluation of actual data to plan data is not available in ABC
    f. No key figure schemes are available in ABC
    g. COGS breakup cant be achieved in ABC
Explanation on (b) - Using stat values, you can take tax values also to COPA.. i.e. you create a Stat cond type with 100% condition record on Sale Tax Cond Type... Hence, you can take tax values to COPA
If you use ABC, you cant use Stat Values.. And tax account being a balance sheet account cant be taken to COPA

  • Output calculation (on the basis of running hour and quantity)

    Dear Guru,
    scenario:
we have 6 work center and activity type cost will be calculated on basis of output quantity.
ex : work center 1:activity cost: Rs 100
                                    output :100 nos(quantity)
                                      total  cost : 100*100= 10,000
like this we are calculating the cost of every workecnter
required sceario :we  want to calculate 4 workcenter cost on basis of output quantity and two on the basis of running hour
please help me where we do the changes .
thanks in advance for your suggestion

Not sure if I understood your query, but based on what little I understand you would need to use a formula which has only duration as parameter & not operation quantity.
Eg: Refer to standard value key - SAP4, which has SAPC00 as a parameter.
Using this you can multiply the cost with the hours irrespective of the operation output.
Do a test in your sandbox & if it meets your need adopt in PRD.

  • How do we transfer payment terms discount to cost based COPA

    Hi All
If customer pays in 30 days we will offer 2 % discount. This will be captured in SKTO condition type. How do we transfer this discount to cost based COPA?

    Venkat
You can assign the Discount GL Account in OKB9 for the company code and tick PrfSeg.
Then create a PA Transfer Structure with Cost Element Discount as Source and suitable Value field.
At the time of your Finance Entry where discount is calculated, based on your FI Settings, relevant COPA characteristics would be captured and transferred to COPA.

  • Calculation of cost for subcontracting item of type N (non stock) as it calculating for type L(Stock)

    Hi Gurus,
I have a Requirement for calculating the cost for Subcontracting  Non stock items N as it is getting calculated in standard functionality for subcontracting items of Type L.
This will be done in CK11n ( used to calculate the standard cost estimate of the product) for header as well as component materials.
please suggest the user exit or Badi where i can change.
    Please refer the below logic-
BOM for the material 2000500 as Header and 1LPL0835298AB as a component and this component has an assembly with 7008508 as a component and this component is an Sub contracted item and this has an assembly with component 1LBA182151-3.
Price calculation for the material 7008508 (Item Category as N). Since this is sub contracted item the price will picked from field EINE-NETPR.
In EINA, pass the material (MATNR=7008508) to fetch the list of info records (INFNR) created for that material.
Then it has to input those info records to EINE table along with Purchasing organization (EINE-EKORG=PT02).
From the output of EINE table, it should compare the price (EINE-NETPR) of the PIR and should take the least price from those PIR`s.
If the currency is other than PLN, then it should be converted to PLN based on conversion charges.
For Material (MATNR=1LBA182151-3), it should pass the material number to table MBEW along with valuation area (BWKEY = WERKS).
From the output, it should check the Price control (VPRSV) ‘V’ or ‘S’
If ‘V’ the price will be picked from the field “VERPR”
If ‘S’ the price will be picked from the field “STPRS”
Also from the output, it should check the Price unit (PEINH) ‘1’ or other than ‘1’. If it is other than ‘1’ it should divide the VERPR or STPRS by PEINH. Then this is the price of the Material “1LBA182151-3”.
The material (MATNR=1LBA182151-3) should be passed to table “MARA” and will take the Base unit of measure from that table “MEINS”.

  • Account base , cost base

    hi sap gurus
can anybody clear me about the copa base of account base and cost base , and what are the differences for these both?
       regards
    venkatareddy

There are two ways COPA captures data
    . Costing based
    . Account based
    • Both use Characteristics to store the data abt info that is updates in COPA
    • Characteristics (Customers,Sales office,Sales grp,Material number,Strategic business unit,Co code,Profit center,Sales employee,Cont area,Prod hierarchy etc)
Main diff in how the 2 methods store data involves qty and values
    • Costing based stores values and qty in Value fields
    • Account based stores them in cost elements (accts) used in FI and rest of CO
    • Value fields group together similar values and qty
    <b>Costing based COPA</b>
1-Costing based COPA allows you to manage sales based on when sales docs update and when data is trans from FI and other CO modules
2- Normally the largest data trans to COPA is from SD billing docs
    3-Normal doc flow
            . Sales order
.Delivery (creates goods issue - debit COGS / credit Inventory)
. Billing docs (updates A/R, Sales revenue, Disc, Freights etc)
4-costing based COPA, COPA is not updated until billing docs are created
    <b>Account based COPA</b>
1-Allows users to reconcile COPA data to FI data
2-According to the accts posted instead of the value fields
3-Data mainly trans from billing docs again
4-Acct based COPA updated during the delivery and creation of billing docs and not
       after itlike costing based
    5-Normal doc flow
             1-Sales order
2-Delivery (COGS is updated in COPA here itself)
            3- Billing docs
plz assign point as way of thanks

  • Excise duty costs in COPA

    Hi,
We are implementing COPA in an up and running application. As you are aware two accounting documents are posted during billing process. First document posts revenue and cost based on the sales order conditions to PA. There is another document is posted in CIN dispatches from a manufacturing scenario.
    Request your help for
a)second FI document accounts for excise duty cost. How to take this to PA?
b)second PA document will get generated. In this document how do we suppress quantity information. As both PA documents have same billing document and there by billing type. This avoids duplication of quantity posting. This cannot be done in initalizing as billing type is same.
c)how is it handled i.e. whether any user exit is used for this purpose.
    Please respond.
    Cheers
    Yesh

    Hi Yeshwant
THere is a std way of doing it.... Tax conditions dont usually post to COPA because balance sheet accounts are assigned to COPA
However, if you are using Costing Based COPA, there is a way to do it
    1. You will be already having excise condition types in SD Pricing Procedure, say, EXCS
    2. Create a statistical condition type, say, ZEXD....
    3. ZEXD will have a condition record of 100% based on the EXCS
    4. Map ZEXD to a VF in KE4I....
When VF01 is done, the excise duty will also be posted to COPA...
I have myself done this and it works.... No need to post to COPA from the excise document...

  • Shipment costs in COPA

    Hello,
We are trying to assign shipment costs to copa, we execute VI01
transaction and we do account assignment. It appears account assignment
fully completed but when we display the profitability segment there are
some of the value fields that are empty.
The fields that are empty are "Material", "Distribution
channel" and "Division", and all of them are filled when the SD bill document is
registered. I don´t understand why the system does not take them to the
profitability segment because they are fixed value fields.
We have checked that when we register vendor billing documents it works
correctly and all the fields have their corresponding value.
    Thank you very much
    Beatriz

Hi I was just looking at your post and  have a similar  situation .
Currently our shipment cost documet Vi01 is posting to a cost center .
Is there any way it goes to COPA directly  with all the billinig information
What are the config needs to be done
iis it just in OKB9 we need to put the GL account to Profitability segment
the GL account we use is 53000000  and from OKb9 based on plant it picks a Cost center  and From cost center we settle it to COPA
    Is thre a better way

  • Activating Account based Copa in the existing Cost-based COPA

    Hi Sap CO gurus!
Please advise me for the following issue.
Presently, My client using Cost-based COPA for segment wise reporting.( Already activated).
Now they wanted the reports in Account Based. Is it possible to activate the Account based now? Will the system allow us to activate or not?
If yes, What will be the implications? I want to know the pros and cons for that.
If not, How Can I edit the COPA settings( Operating concern)? Or shall I delete the Operating concern and create one new one?
Can you please explain the impact of each situation?
    Thanks a lot in advance
    Rama

    Hi Joe
You can deactivate Account Based COPA, but you will have to do a thorough testing so that you are aware of the issues that can crop up
The IMG Menu is SPRO > Controlling > Prof Analysis
You will have to do a testing of how the open sales orders would behave... The open sales orders mean Sales Orders where PGI has been done, but billing is pending AS WELL AS Sales orders which are just created, but no Logistics movement (PGI) has taken place... You will have to do testing on both types of sales orders
      - When you do PGI after deactivating the account based COPA, you may face error. Because, COGS GL account is a cost element in Account based COPA, where as in Costing based COPA, it is usually not a Cost Element
      - Also do a billing from an open sales order and see if you get any error there...
Similar issue can arise during variance settlement also, because the variance account is not a cost ele in Costing Based COPA.
Test out the above scenarios and do share your experiences

    HI
Costing-based Profitability Analysis is the form of profitability analysis that groups costs and revenues according to value fields and costing-based valuation approaches, both of which you can define yourself. It guarantees you access at all times to a complete, short-term profitability report.
Account-based Profitability Analysis is a form of profitability analysis organized in accounts and using an account-based valuation approach. The distinguishing characteristic of this form is its use of cost and revenue elements. It provides you with a profitability report that is permanently reconciled with financial accounting

  • Partitioning on Oracle 8.0.6 (rule base vs. cost base)

At my current engagement, we are using Oracle Financials 11.0.3 on Oracle 8.0.5 which uses rule-based optimizer. However, it is been planned to upgrade the database from Oracle 8.0.5 to Oracle 8.0.6 as well as implement Oracle partitioning. With this in mind, we are concerned about possible performance issues that the implementation of partitioning may cause since RBO does not recognize it.
We agree that the RBO will see a non-partitioned table the same as a partitioned. In this scenario where you gain the most is with backup/recoverability and general maintenance of the partitioned table.
Nevertheless, we have a few questions:
When implementing partitions, will the optimizer choose to go with Cost base vs. Rule base for these partitioned tables?
Is it possible that the optimizer might get confused with this?
If this change form RBO to CBO does occur, the application could potential perform poorly because of the way it has been written.
    Please provide any feedback.
    thanks in advance.

If the CBO is invoked when accessing these tables, you may run into problems.
    - You'll have to analyze your tables & ensure that the statistics are kept up to date.
    - It's possible that any SQL statements which invoke the CBO rather than the RBO will have different performance characteristics. The SYSTEM data dictionary tables, for example, must use the RBO or their performance suffers dramatically. Most of the time, the CBO beats the RBO, but applications which have been heavily tuned with the RBO may have problems with the CBO.
    - Check your init.ora to see what optimizer mode you're in. If you're set to CHOOSE, the CBO will be invoked whenever statistics are available on the table(s) involved. If you choose RULE, you'll only invoke the CBO when the RBO encounters situations it doesn't have rules for.

  • Cash Flow in BW based on cost based COPA

    Hi,
We have at presently in ECC6, Cost based copa. Now we have to create Profit and loss, cash flow based on that..So I have few question belonging to same as below
    1. Can we create Cash flow and Profit and loss based on Cost based COPA.

  • Cost Based COPA

    Hello Experts,
I am reviewing this document and there seems to be a daily feed from R3 into a BW Cost Based COPA.
When I read “Cost Based”, the first question in my mind was that there much be other options and cost based was selected.
If so what are the other options which could have been selected, and what are the implications of selecting cost based over the others.
I will appreciate if you could share your thoughts with real life examples to help me understand what may be going on in R3 and what may be coming to BW, and why?
Please mention any helpful transaction codes on the BW or R3 side related to this explanation.
    Thanks

Which datasources are you interested in...?
Depending on what your users need, two datasources come to mind.
    0CO_OM_OPA_6 and 0CO_OM_CCA_9.
OPA_6 is for internal order based cost collection.
CCA_9 is for cost center based cost collection.
Both extract transaction level information from COSP, COEP, etc..... it just depends on how your company uses internal orders or cost centers for cost collecting.
For collecting costs, these are really very key datasources for determining budget vs actuals information.
    Hope this helps...

  • Calculating Key Figures in Copa based as sales Rev / Cusomter Price Based

    Hello Gurus,
I have a requirement in which i would like to calculate some key figures in COPA as sales revenue.
I would like for e.g to calculate the following: Cusomter Price Based Discount but do not know what to take into consideration.
Is there any document which can help me to build it?
I have  created the generic datasource based on the table CE1XXXXX.
    Thank you

    Hi Anindya,
    thank you for replying.
The steps in that document was already being done.
I have all Key Figures comin from CE1xxx Table. We are using the cost based COPA.
My problem now is to build some Key Figures as sales revenue (Sales View) like for e.g Cusomter Price Based Discount.
I would like to know how to proceed to build them. Any sample?
Is it possible to build them directly based only on the generated extractor? or should i have to take dta from Billing as well?
    Thank you.

  • Transferring Standard and Actual costs to COPA

    Hi,
We are using 3 valuations (Legal, Profit Center and Group Valuations). In order to transfer standard and actual costs to COPA for all 3 valuations do we need to create 3 costings (total 6) for transferring standard and and 3 costings keys for transferring actual costing to COPA?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ravi.
    Very interesting question!
1: Ledgers in FI are not related with Material Ledger Valuation. EG, in FI you can have IFRS, TAX, and GAAP; and in ML You can have "currency/valuations"  Legal, PCA / Group. Keep in mind this are different stuff.
2: In Material Ledger, you can valuate your stock according to different ledgers, with the bussiness function FIN_CO_COGM (Paralell cost of goods manufactured). The idea of this BF is have alternative valuations assigned to the principles (IFRS, TAX, GAAP), so in FI you can accomplish different Stocks, COGS and on accounts, based on different accounting principles. You can understand this as the brothers of FI Ledgers, in order to do product costing.
3: In PA, you only post (or transfer) one record.  You have to decide if use "Local, Group, PCA or Paralell Cost of Goods Manufactured". (Im 90% sure based on lot of reading, maybe im missing somethings).
Please, check this old post. Waman is a good source of info!
    CO-PA & IFRS
Hi Waman!Waman Shirwaicar Could you please clarify the concept?  This is a topic that there are not much info!
