Calendar sync between iCal, Outlook 2011 and 2010 and iCloud

All,
I'm having trouble syncing calendars on my devices and I haven't been able to find a workable solution yet. I know this topic has been covered extensively, but I haven't found anything that works.
I want to be able to sync my calendars (email works just fine) between three devices: A MBP (Mountain Lion) running Outlook 2011, iPhone 4S (Calendar App) and a desktop (Win8) with Outlook 2010.
Currently, I have no problem syncing the desktop with my iPhone (using iCloud) and these events sync into iCal on the MBP. Outlook 2011 on the MBP syncs into iCal using Sync Services to the "On My Mac" calendar. All of my previous calendar entries are single events in the iPhone, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2011, but show up as duplicates in iCal (one entry is in the iCloud calendar, and other is in the On My Mac calendar). Since I don't use iCal as my "working" calendar program on my MBP, the duplicates are fine if it works as an interface between iCloud and On My Mac.
For any new calendar items, however, I must obviously select which calendar they'll appear in. As suspected, if I select iCloud, the items all sync to iCal, Outlook 2010 and my iPhone, but not Outlook 2011; conversely, creating events in Outlook 2011 syncs via On My Mac to iCal, but not the devices as using iCloud.
It seems to me that if a rule could be made in iCal which duplicated any event from On My Mac into iCloud, and another rule which duplicated iCloud events into On My Mac, there would be complete syncing across the programs, with obvious duplications of events in iCal (which is fine by me). I'm not a programmer and I have no idea how to, or even if, this can be done.
Has anyone else found a way to make this work, or have any other solutions?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Outlook 2011 is not compatible with iCloud, it won't work and your 'workaround' may affect iCloud clients on the same account.
Don't use 2011.

  • Syncing between z10 & outlook 2011 for mac?

    Hi,
I ma having enormous problems in trying to sync BB Link for the Z10 to Outlook 2011 for Mac........essentially I have read most of the comments and complaints and have followed various suggestions but to no avail. Essentially I have my contacts on my Z10 and want to sync them to my outlook and then ensure a two-way syncing process in the future. Can anyone suggest how to accompish this?

My iPhone 4 was working fine, synched with Outlook 2011 on my iMac 11.02 through iTunes. Calendar changes also appeared in iCal, even though I don't use iCal - I only use Outlook. Last week I was prompted to update Outlook, which I did successfully. Today, I plugged the iPhone into the iMac to synch and suddenly all Calendar and Contact items are gone from the iPhone and in iCal on the iMac. In iTunes, the option to synch with Outlook in the Info tab ("other") is greyed out. What happened? Why can't I synch the iPhone anymore with Outlook? All the Calendar and Contact info is still on the iMac in Outlook. Help!

  • Calendar syncing problems with outlook and iphone

Months and months ago I had the following window pop up when I go to sync my phone:
"synching with iphone will change more than XX% of your calendars"
First I have to say the vagueness of Apples messages is disappointing.  This message does not convey to me exactly what its going to do if I accept the message.  This is my first apple product and I love my iphone, but itunes and everything related to the PC is disappointing!  Anyway, I have been hitting cancel because when I attempt to lookup the problem online in a Google search I don't find any quick definitive answers.  I no longer use outlook on this computer, so I want all the calendar entries in the phone to remain the same.  I've attempted to uncheck calendar syncing and get the following message:
"Itunes will no longer sync calendars to the Iphone.  Would you like itunes to remove calendars previously synced to you iphone"
Once again, the infamous apple user friendliness I've heard so much about doesn't seam to be true!  This message is so vague.  What calendars is it going to remove, the ones on the pc or the phone?  And why would it remove anything, I just want it to stop syncing.  Urg, frustraded.  Any help is appreciated!  Thanks.

Originally all of Apple products were intended for use with Mac computers. Macs have default program - iCal to sync calendars. Windows default program is ironically Microsoft Outlook. There couple more options in iTunes for
calendar sync, but those need to be chosen and not default.
In your particular situation since you don't have outlook anymore, you don't need to make any changes. No outlook - no sync. Apple way - no user interference nessesary.

    Asked by: tppltd
I have a customer that uses our hosted solution Server 2008 Exchange 2010 for email access and web dav file share. They have 8 Macbooks connected to the system and they all use Outlook 2011. One user has an issue where he's reading and deleting emails within Outlook on his mac but it isnt updating Exchange which in turn means his iphone isnt clearing down the read and deleted emails. If i log on to the owa mailbox i can see that the emails havent been read or deleted. We have this issue for one user with the newest MacBook. It first occurred 4 months ago and i ended up removing the account and resyncing the whole lot which took a few hours due to the size of the mailbox.  I've right clicked the folders and told it to resync but it remains the same. Does anyone have any help they can provide please? thanks
The user doesnt want to rebuild the outlook account.  Am i missing somthing obvious

I suggest you post your question on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac software as it's their stuff you have questions about:

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.
This is a picture of what it looks like now:

As you can see, the stuff circled in red doesn't give me an option to download from Cloud Beta because it already says "downloaded".
any way to get around that?

  • I fixed my Calendar syncing problems with Outlook

I have fixed my "1 day out" syncing with Outlook.
The solution below worked for me, but if you are unsure or a bit dubious then please take advice first....I'm far from a computor genius !!
When I first downloaded 9.1.1.12 mine didn't work either for all the current calendar entries, but it did work for anything new.
    So here's what I did.
Firstly if you have your i-Tunes set to "auto sync" when you connect your i-Phone then disable that. That's very important. Then in Outlook create a new calendar and just name it "calendar 2" or something. The new calendar will be completely blank. Then connect your i-Phone as normal. When you have the syncing page on i-Tunes in front of you click on the "info" tab and scroll down to the calendar section. Here you have the option to sync all calendars or selected calendars. After a while the new calendar you have created should appear in the calendar section. Check the box that says "sync selected calendars" and then check the box next to the newly created calendar, making sure the original calendar is not checked. Then scroll down further to the advanced area of the page where you can select information to be synced and check the calendar box. This area allows one way syncing from Outlook to the i-Phone. Once this is done click "apply" and the phone will start to sync. When finished your i-Phone calendar will be completely blank. Now go back to Outlook and "copy" your original calendar into the new calendar. Once this is done go back to the sync section in i-Tunes and repeat the sync again making sure the new calendar is selected only to sync and the calendar box in the advanced section is checked also. This will then sync your calendar back to your i-Phone correctly, well at least it all worked for me. Ideally it's best to then delete the original calendar from Outlook leaving only the newly created one there but I'm not sure it's always possible to delete the original one so just make sure you always use the new one and that when syncing you always have the new calendar selected.
I hope this helps some of you if you're still having problems.

  • Google calendar syncing to iCal

I have my Gmail calendar synced with iCal, however in Google Calendars you can add "other calendars", in this case I have my school's calendar synched up in my Google Calendar online so I can see all the events on one. Is there a way to add this other calendar client to my iCal? When I go to my google account I can see all the calendars on one calendar, but in iCal it only syncs the events I put in on my Gmail account. Is this possible to do?
    Thanks!

I'm not sure this will answer your question, but...
When you write that "your Gmail calendar is synced with iCal," I assume you mean that you have added a CalDAV account in iCal's preferences so that you can read AND write to your Gmail calendar? In that case, in the preferences of that CalDAV account in iCal, you can select "Delegation" and pick the calendars you also want to be displayed in iCal.
    Hope this helps

You might look in your User Library for Outlook .plist(s). They probably start with com.microsoft.
    Quit Outlook.
Either hold down the option key while using the Finder “Go To Folder” command and select your user Library in your home folder or use the Finder “Go To Folder” command and enter ~/Library/Preferences.  Move the .plist(s) to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist(s) from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist(s) to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, use the Terminal command found below.
    Show User Library
You might want to bookmark the command. I had to use it again after I installed 10.8.4. I have also been informed that if you drag the user library to Finder it will remain visible.

  • Meeting time mismatch between MS Outlook 2011 and iCal

    Devices:
Mac Air running OS X 10.10 with MS Office 2011 (Outlook via IMAP) - no Exchange.
Also running Mail concurrently via IMAP.
    iPhone 6+ running iOS 8.2.
    Time Zone:
New Zealand on daylight saving - UTC/GMT +13:00
    Background:
I have using both Microsoft and Apple Mail and Calendar (iCal) platforms concurrently on various MacBooks etc for at least 5 years i.e. previously MS Entourage 2008 (?) now Outlook 2011. Once upon a time Entourage/Outlook & Mail/iCal used to sync quite nicely via iTunes and sync services but then that functionality was taken away from us in Mavericks. There was a lot of fuss about this!
I managed to find a work around that worked for me. Far more detail can be found in a previous thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5479205  but in short I found I could drag calendar and contacts from Outlook to iCal & Contacts and vice versa without too much fuss for my volume of meetings etc.
Once meetings and contacts were in iCal and Contacts then iCloud made sure they synced with my iPhone - YAY!!!
THAT ALL CHANGED AGAIN WITH YOSEMITE !!!!!!
    Problem:
It would seem that since upgrading to Yosemite I am experiencing serious TIME ZONE discrepancies between Meeting requests in Outlook and OS X / IOS.
    Example:
    1. Meeting request created in Outlook from external 3rd party contact received for Sunday, 23 November 2014 10.00am - 12.00pm
    Shows correctly in Outlook
    OS X & iOS show event exactly 13 hours later @ Sunday, 23 November 11.00pm - 1.00am
This is exactly the time difference between GMT/UTC and NZT (or GMT/UTC +13:00)
Because meeting/event is from a 3rd party the date/time cannot be edited.
Accepting locks it in at the wrong time which ends up being synced to iPhone.
    2. Meeting request created by 'self' in Outlook and dragged onto iCal in OS X for Saturday, 13 December 2014 3.30pm - 4.00pm
Shows correctly in Outlook (as you'd expect!)
The instant its dragged across the iCal 'Adding a new event' pop up box appears.
Click 'OK' and for literally 2 seconds it's displayed as the right day and time ...
BUT THEN it jumps (moves) to Saturday, 14 December 2014 4.30am - 5.00am!!! Exactly 13 hours later.
When iOS updates via iCloud it also shows the event @ Saturday, 14 December 2014 4.30am - 5.00am.
Log on to iCloud (web calendar) and it's the same.
Again this is exactly the time difference between GMT/UTC and NZT (or GMT/UTC +13:00).
NOW CHECK THIS OUT - double click event in iCal OR iCloud web calendar and it shows the details as "13 December 3.30pm - 4.00pm (GMT)"
    See images -
    3. Meeting request created by 'self' in Outlook and dragged onto iCal in OS X for Friday, 7 December 2014 12.00pm - 1.30pm PLUS added and sent to invitee
Shows correctly in Outlook (as you'd expect!)
The instant its dragged across the iCal 'Adding a new event' pop up box appears.
Click 'OK' and for literally 2 seconds it's displayed as the right day and time ...
BUT THEN it jumps (moves) to Saturday, 8 November 2014 1.00am - 2.30am.
So everything else is as previously described ... the EXCEPTION here is the person who I sent the invite to.
They received it in OS X Mail and iOS - it also appeared in their calendars Saturday, 8 November 2014 1.00am - 2.30am rather than the more suitable time for a Friday business lunch!!
Given this worked fine under Mavericks and the only thing to have changed is an upgrade to Yosemite then there has to be a bug in Yosemite??
I've attempted to be as thorough with my testing as possible but whilst I am in IT Sales and Business Dev, I am not an engineer!! Therefore I am very keen to hear from any far more intelligent being that suggest other tests, what I should do next or better still how to fix it !!!!
Now I shall sit and wait for the arrival of great and profound wisdom ... yes, still smiling but I don't know for how long!!

So no replies/comments but lots of views ... either means I haven't reached someone who's prepared to tackle this one or everyone thinks I'm a Muppet for doing things the way I do!!
Because of the many views and at least 2 persons who have indicated they have the same issue ...
    UPDATE:
So much research!!! Would appear that Outlook is designed to send calendar events in UTC/GMT time irrespective of local - don't quote me! That being the case that would explain why the events I had issues with turn up with showing GMT. Would also suggest that for some reason iCal cannot see inside to translate the actual time ... anyway ... moving on.
So at this point I need to say I have turned off in Mac Mail preferences "Add invitations to Calendar - Automatically" and set to "Never" ... I will try testing with that "on" again later.
For now here's a kludged workaround for at least the process that I use i.e. dragging meetings from Outlook to iCal to sync via iCloud to my iPhone.
Before I would drag the Outlook event (straight from Outlook's calendar) onto the iCal icon (sorry realize I hadn't perhaps been explicit on that before) ... that would then open iCal if not already open and then 'pop' the 'Adding a new event' box ... click 'OK' and it'd be entered with the same alert time etc ... that once worked, then broke hence this post!!
So what I've found that does work (with some shortcomings) is (and easier if you're running dual screens!!):
Open iCal - best if you use Day view
Drag the Outlook event to that day and to the correct time
N.B.: Duration, Category and Alert information is lost
Open event in iCal and edit the above
Syncs immediately to iCloud and in its own good time to iPhone
I have tested this against my original examples:
Example 1 - Works for events/meetings received from external Outlook source - you can open and edit the time and alerts. Not sure if it creates any grief or extra clutter at the senders end!! Guess I'll hear about that soon enough.
Example 2 - Works for events/meetings created by me in Outlook and dragged over - same deal - still have to edit duration and alerts etc.
Example 3 - Hmmmm ... haven't tried adding an invitee who I know is an iCal only user yet. I expect that if sent from Outlook he's still going to have it show up wrong at his end so will be a set of instructions and training I expect. I have an idea that may work ... will have to test.
SORRY - I said it was a Kludge.
I will see if this approach remains stable for a bit before turning back on the "Add invitations to Calendar - Automatically" setting in Mail.
I'll report back again after that.

  • Using Outlook 2011 for mac and syncing blackberry very slow

I just bought 2 pcs of Mcabook pro. one for me and second for my cousin. we both have same office usage.i have installed office 2011. i use contacts / events / tasks of outlook and sync it with my blackberry curve. previously i was using Windows OS and i am so much used to it with its easy functionalities. Since last 15 days i have not done any work in my office as all time i am just involved in setting up one or another thing in my Macbook. i am really so much fed up and frustrated that i am thinking of switching back to Windows. i have some current issues like
Airport disconnects automatically anytime. after then i have to restart the system that is the only way. it shows as connected but i dont find my home network or internet. after restarting it works !!! it happens 4-5 times in a day...
Sync with blackberry is very slow. i do have Approx 2500 contacts / 300 tasks and 10-15 events. but it takes approx 10 times more time than i was doing with Windows.
in the blackberry desktop manager there is only one option of syncing i.e. Two way sync. what if i only want to transfer data from Macbook to Blackberry or from Blackberry to Macbook?
data sync is not perfect also. every time some entries goes missing.
i want to use ical for events and tasks.. but i dont find List view for events which is not convinient.
i have my e mails in Outlook 2011 for mac. what if i want to transfer my mail to mail for mac?
i will be obliged if anyone can help and show that my INR 70000.00 * 2 is not wasted... Frustrated Really...

    Good luck with that.

  • Sync Outlook 2011 for mac and gmail agenda

    Hello,
I have problem when I try to synchronize outlook 2011 calendar and gmail agenda.
I do it by synchronizing outlook 2011 (for mac) calendar with iCal and after I synchronize iCal with google agenda.
When I create a new category for exemple project under outlook and add event to this category, it creates a new calendar project under iCal in the "On my Mac" header. that's ok.
When I create a new calendar named project under google agenda, I can add it under iCal in the "google" header. that's ok.
but thuis two calendar (on my mac and in google header) are'nt synchronized in iCal even if they have the same name.
Do you know a mean to synchronize the calendar ? thanks in advance

two ways of doing this, you could try http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2452489, or drag each individual calendar event into iCal. You can't do multiple items has to be one... at... a... time.

Is there a new version of iCloud for Mac?
    Thanks so much!

Contacts (the app) supports Dav, it has to because iCloud Contacts are Dav. Just add your CardDav account to your Mac in System Preferences>Internet Accounts and select Contacts.
    FYI
iCloud Calendars are CalDav, iCloud Contacts are CardDav, and the mail is Imap.
