Calibration purple hue problem

I have a MBP (early 2008) with a matte Display (LG) and have troubles calibrating it with an i1 Display 2. After calibrating/profiling I get a serious purple shift on blue colors using color mananged programs like PS, LR, Safari.
I've tried different kind of calibration settings and the iMatch and basiccolor Display software and always end up with the same problem. I have even downloaded various profiles from the internet from other users and with most of them I get the blue/purple hue.
I've searched the internet and found people with the same problem, but no answers.
The weird thing is, that when I switch the profiles in ColorSync and have e.g. Photoshop open and an image 100% blue the blue changes regarding the profile as long as I don't click on the image or PS, than it suddenly changes into purple. Same happens with Safari or LR.
Anyone had the same problem and found a solution?
Maybe somone can send me his profile (hardware calibrated) which doesn't give this blue/purple shift to see if it's working on mine.
Or I can send my calibrated profile (which gives me the purple shift) to check if it happens on other MBPs too.
I would really appreciate if someone could help. I contacted Apple support but they didn't know an answer. I have asked on several forums but had no luck.
Alex

Hello Hans,
I have found a way to calibrate my MBP without the blue huey - I haven't printed anything so I'm not sure how acurate this method is. But at least colors and calibration images are looking fine on my display now, and I don't have any blue shift anymore.
That's what I did:
-Downloaded basiccolor Display (you can get a 14 days trial version)
-You can play around with all the settings but set the Chromatic Adaptation: to None - and than it creats an icc profile where the blues are blue.
-Try it and let me know your results.
In the colorsync applet you can compare profiles.
Compare your profile with the blue shift with the Srgb profile. I guess you see the blue going outside of the Srgb 3D graphic. With the No Chromatic Adaption profiles they blues stays within the Srgb values.
I have spent hours searching the internet but could not find any solution, except things like "PS settings are wrong", "laptop displays can't show proper blues", "it is not purple, it is how the laptop shows the blue" and so on. I don't know if this just happens with some of the MBP displays or if there are a lot of people not realizing that the blues are wrong on their calibrated computers. Apple is not a help at all as since 3 month now I see this message when trying to get in contact with an "expert"
"We're sorry, but we are unable to complete your request at this time. Please try again in a few minutes"
I think this is a joke if you can't contact the company by email if you have a problem or a question.
And before people say now, get "AppleCare" or call them - some people are travelling abroad and might not want to spend loads of money calling US to get help for a "pro" product.
I hope I could help you.

  • Purple Screen Problem

Here is scenario: My Sanyo TV messed up and I had to have it repaired. I never had a purple tint problem at all with the ATV2 before. When the TV got fixed (New Main PCB), I hooked everything back up, and it now has a purple tint to the ATV2. I tried switching inputs with the DirecTV receiver, and on the same input channel, the DirecTV looked fine, so I don't think it's my TV. I have two ATV2s so I switched them. Whichever one is on other TV is fine, whichever one is on newly repaired TV is purple. Any ideas? Both are updated to newest OS.

Same cable works on a different tv. I have a different theory I would like to throw out for feedback. I used iPad to start a movie from our home network. The screen didn't stay pink, as the movie started the audio was fine and the picture moved, it was just out of whack like an acid trip. When they replaced the main pcb on the tv, if they hooked something up wrong, or backwards, could it be causing the problem with hdmi output of ypbpr but not rgb, and the reason the directv looks fine is because it doesn't use ypbpr hdmi output?
If you mean Component when you say RGB, that is totally different because it is an analog, not digital signal. The circuitry is different. Also, just because a cable works on one TV, doesn't mean it will work on another if the TV specifications are different (support different levels of signal). If your other equipment is RGB and not HDMI, you can't compare the problem or results. Hope this helps and good luck.

  • T61 pink/purple screen problem

    Hi all,
Sorry if this problem has been posted before - I tried to look through the threads and couldn't find it.
    I have a 14.1" T61, type 7662-CTO.
My screen will periodically suddenly get a pink or purple sheen - white areas look purple, while dark areas look green.  The computer still functions and I can basically see what I'm doing, but it's just a little ugly to put it mildly.
After a while, the screen will revert to normal, but if I work for much longer, it becomes purple again.
    Some things I've noticed:
    1) When I use an external monitor, it works fine.
    2) Positional changes sometimes cause the purple event, and sometimes positional changes relieve the purpleness.
    3) When the screen turns purple, I can often put a lot of pressure on the plastic just under the Ctrl and Alt keys on either side (or both at the same time) and the screen will turn back to normal either while I'm putting the pressure on or sometimes for a little while afterwards as well.  This prompted me to tighten all the screws I could see corresponding to that piece of plastic on the bottom.  While this has decreased the frequency of purple screen events, they have not gone away entirely.
Research on the web has made me wonder if this could be a backlight problem (symptoms sounded similar, but not quite the same as what I've got), or a graphics card connection problem.  However I'm definitely not sure.
My computer is no longer on warranty and I do not have much experience tinkering with laptops, though I am willing to try if I can get the right parts and get good, detailed instructions.
    Thanks for your help!
    Evan

This sounds to me like your green signal to your LCD is not correct - maybe it's sitting at a constant 50%.
My guess is that the ribbon cable that carries the LVDS signal from your mainboard to LCD has come a bit loose, or has developed a crack. You might try shifting the cable around a bit, or carefully reseating it in the ZIF connector if you are comfortable disassembling your laptop (and voiding the warranty).
Alternately, the crack could have developed inside the G84 chip itself - if the rumors are true, this could be one of the outcomes of the G84's defective manufacturing.

  • Changed Calibration Settings, Big Problems Now with sRGB

I use Lightroom 1.3.1 on a PC with Windows. I've been using Lightroom for about a year for the same workflow (creating images for web primarily). I use a Canon 5D.
Today I changed the Camera Calibration Settings in the Develop module. I downloaded the "CAL ACR Calibrated" Settings and imported them. I may have downloaded settings for the 30D if that matters. With the new calibration settings, my reds looked MUCH better and I was very pleased.
Then I went to Library module. In that module the colors were washed out as before. Hmmm. Anyway, I exported to Photoshop using ProPhoto RGB (as always). The photos looked fine in Photoshop with the same great colors.
THEN I tried to convert the photos to sRGB. The nice reds went back to the washed out, orangish color they were before. I tried all the different conversion options with the same result. My work flow hasn't changed otherwise, and I have never had this problem. (My Photoshop color settings should be correct and my monitor is profiled, etc). For the record, photos that I exported previously (before making the calibration changes) still look the same and render to sRGB the same as always.
Can anyone please help!? Is this a bug in Lightroom?

    >he more I think my issue is related to the difference between my monitor's color gamut and sRGB
It is definitely possible but would be very suprising as your monitor is supposed to be wider than sRGB in red. What happens when you take the saturated sRGB red image in Photoshop and soft proof for your monitor profile? You should NOT check preserve RGB numbers. Now also check "Show gamut warning." If sRGB red is really outside your monitor's gamut, the image should turn solid gray. Even if the red is outside the gamut the shift in color should be small though and you should not get the described huge shift to orange, which makes me think the calibrator must be off a bit.
    >The point people were making in that forum discussion is that most web browsers (like Firefox notably) don't render using sRGB at all, but they send ALL the color information in the image to the monitor. That means some images may appear much more saturated in Firefox than they do in color managed environments (like Photoshop or, actually, Safari I think).
The first part is true, but the second part is only true on wide gamut monitors. Your monitor is almost equal to sRGB (according to the manufacturer at least) and Firefox should look almost exactly the same as Photoshop if you use sRGB and have it correctly calibrated. On most people's monitors, colors will be less saturated than what you are seeing as almost every laptop LCD screen out there is narrower in gamut than sRGB.
    >Now I'm suspecting that the reason Lightroom at default settings renders red with an orange cast (as many people report) is because they want to keep output files compatible with sRGB. Otherwise, most people would assume a red color shift means either Lightroom or Photoshop is broken.
I don't think any thought went into that. The rendering Lightroom and ACR use is based on calibration that Thomas Knoll did using reference charts. They are supposed to make ACR render colors as correctly as possible into the reference space (much wider than sRGB) under the reference conditions. No attempt is made to compress the color into sRGB or so. There is unfortunately quite a bit of variation between cameras causing the oranges that people report.
    >The discussion in that forum (can't find the link unfortunately) was basically about how difficult it is for SmugMug to display and print photos in a consistent way given the lack of a real standard, because more and more people buy monitors that display more than the sRGB gamut, and browsers don't display sRGB by default.
As always smugmug (and I love them BTW) is trying to solve the wrong problem. You cannot fix people's screens and browsers. If people do not calibrate their monitor and do not use color managed browsers (i.e. Safari and Firefox 3.0 beta) there is nothing you can do to help them but tell them to ... calibrate their monitors and to use color managed browsers. If people buy wide gamut monitor and do not calibrate and color manage they are asking for trouble. Luckily they are still out of reach for most consumers.
    >- see if there are updates for the monitor and/or video card
    - see if there is an update for the Eye-One device
    - try creating a new profile from scratch just to see
    - if all else fails, buy a new calibrator
    - if that fails, then try switching to my older monitor...hope not
These are great steps. You definitely should try recreating the profile from scratch. Also, the Huey Pro or Colorvision Spyder calibrators can be had for <$70 if you want to check your calibrator. Both give great results. Your calibrator should do a good job, but it is always possible that you have a dud. Again, your monitor should give a response very close to sRGB in unmanaged apps, making images appear the same or very close in managed and unmanaged apps if the screen is calibrated.

  • UP3214Q A02, Calibration and Multistream problem

    Hi all,
I have bought two UP 3214Q monitors. One of them is REV A02. I am using both on Mac OS X 10.10.3 using DisplayPort. I have the following problem during the calibration process. With the latest version officially available on the DELL homepage (1.5.3), the software recognizes the monitor and my i1 Pro profiler. On the tab measurement it doesn't show the calibration preset option! On my A03 (in a parallel thread yet not cleared). Is this A02 bug? Or just a problem withe software? How do I fix it? Something else: the display type is recognized as CCFL which it is definitely not. In the official i1 profiler software I'd choose White LED but I can't change it. Do you know how? Last, I thought that the Multistream problems would be shadows from the past A00 and A01 revisions. Still I am getting in 50% of my wake-ups only one half of the screen. I just have to turn of and turn on again, but it stinks! The A03 has not that issue! Do you know the problem? How do I fix it?
    Thanks!
    Sven

    Hi,
thanks for your answer. It seems both a bug in the DCCS and the A02 firmware as the A03 at least offers the calibration option and recognizes the monitor correctly (see my other A03 thread).
Do you know if Dell can patch the firmware or if there is a firmware for download available? As I have still the issues with the MST which annoys me most for the money I paid. And the A03 has none of the MST issues (so far).
Is there any beta DCCS version available? The last release if over a year old and not tested for Yosemite.
    Thanks!

  • Camera stuttering and flickering purple hue after Yosemite

The camera started to lag and stutter and flicker purple things on my screen.
It is very annoying and can apple please release an update...
MBP (late 2011) came with OSX Lion -> Mavericks -> Yosemite.

Hi everyone, I'm the one from the example above posted by @frankensinatra and I can confirm having the same problem.
But I want to add something. The problem is not only related to black and white but to every picture, and it can be worse or not depending on the range of colors involved. Apparently, there is a shift between some RGB value that is going to remove some green producing a magenta look.
I've started contacting some developer about this problem and some of them is trying to understand what's going on.
In my case, the problem came up when I bought the new iPad mini Retina. I didn't have this problem with the previous iPad mini. Same OS for both devices.
The photo you see in the link above is a perfect example of what happens just going from one app to another and saving to the camera roll. In that case, the situation doesn't change if I send that picture from within the app by email, or to another app using the "open in..." feature. It keeps being purple. And the problem can be reproduced all the time.
Have some of you noticed the same?

  • CS5 Color Calibration and Printing Problems vs. CS3

We are migrating from CS3 to CS5, and i'm working on getting the printing right.
We are on MacPro towers, 10.6.6, with LaCie LCD Monitors and an Epson 2200.  Calibration on monitors and printer done by EyeOne Pro and Profilemaker Pro.
Printing:  In CS3, creating the profile was done by printing the appropriate Eye One testchart.  It gets opened with 'no color management', and is printed out with 'no color management'.  This way, the testfile is being printed as the printer prints, with no tweaks.  The color adjustment controls (brightness, saturation, cyan, magenta, etc) within the Epson driver are set to Zero.  Then, this print is scanned in, using the Eye One, and you get the profile of the printer.
Now, when printing actual files, 'Photoshop Manages Colors' is utilized, and the created Profile from Eye One is selected.
We have had great luck with this, matching screen to print.  If a slight tweak is needed, then we could use the Epson color adjustment controls to modify slightly.
Again, we've had great prints consistently for years using this method.
    Now comes CS5...
Printing.  Trying to use our existing profile...
When 'Photoshop Manages Colors' and the Profile are selected, now the Epson color adjustment controls are greyed out.  So, we lose out on the 'tweaking' possibilities.  I'm a fan of profiles, but now i have absolutely no control after the fact.
Trying to create a new profile....
'No Color Management' is not longer available as an option in 'Color Handling'.  So, now i can't even print out the baseline testchart without adding some sort of profile to it?  If i would choose 'Printer Manages Color' for this testpage, I would normally set the Epson Color Adjustments to Zero to get this baseline print for profiling.  But now, If I would do that, it's only going to be greyed out when i go back in and let Photoshop manage the colors.  Sheesh...
    To make matters worse...
I pull up the same testchart in CS3 AND CS5.  We are on a calibrated monitor, using North American Prepress presets on both programs.  Same monitor, same color settings, same file.  AND the testchart looks different in each program.  Similar, but definite differences in shades.  Eyedropper readings are the same for both programs.
So, CS5 is even rendering color differently on screen, and i have little or no way to create my custom profile or control my printer?  Sheesh....
Any help or direction is appreciated.
    Rich

    thanks for the input.
I will look at the links you recommended.  When 'Compensate for Scene-Referred Profiles' is unchecked in CS5, the monitors match.  I'll need to do some research to see that that 'compensation' is, and what's happening.
As for the 'not considered a good color managed workflow'...
That's fine.  But I would consider a good managed workflow using a calibrated monitor, and using a profile that matches the printer and substrate being used, right?  When i plug in the canned printer profile in CS5, i get unsatisfactory results.  With that 'correct' workflow, there is no way to modify what is ending up on the printed page.  You get what you get.
Even if i back up to CS3, create a custom profile with the Eye One, run Colorsync/Profile all the way through, and eliminate the Epson Color Adjustments, I'm still obeying a 'correct' workflow, but what if my prints are slightly too Cyan?  Or slightly too open/light?  (granted, Profilemaker Pro does have a profile 'editor', but it's convoluted and extremely difficult to use.  I've never gotten good results with it.)
If you have no way to do small adjustments at the back end on the printer, and it's been 'profiled' correctly, and the prints don't match calibrated screen with proper color spaces....
uh....then what do you do?  which one is right?  The screen or the printer?
I've had hundreds of images over the years go from screen to client (or press if we were controlling the print phase of the job), which then got printed, and have had basically 'zero' client issues with color.  We have great color here on screen, from capture into post production.
But when my client wants a proof, in house, they want to see what they've been seeing all day in the studio and in post.  How am I supposed to adjust my prints if a 'proper color managed workflow' isn't giving me matching proofs?
I sincerely appreciate the input here.  I'm just frustrated, because even if my 'workflow' isn't technically correct, it's not without merits and I've had excellent consistent results that just 'worked'.  Now, i've got to find a new method within CS5.

  • Pixma MP950 photo prints turn purple hue after several months.

Using Canon ink and Kirkland glossy photo paper.   This only happens with prints I have hung inside on my garage walls.  Both color and B&W do this.  Any idea what would cause this?  No color change on prints inside the house even after years.
    Solved!

    Hi johnshel,
There may be a temperature variance in your garage that is different than the inside of your home that is having an effect on the photos.  The inks used in your PIXMA MP950 are ChromaLife 100 inks, and when used with Canon genuine photo paper, your printed photos will resist color fading and you can enjoy long-lasting beautiful photos displayed in a typical indoor environment.  For more information on the ChromaLife 100 system, please click on the link below:

  • Lumia 900: Speaker volume too loud, headphone volu...

I know this issue has been posted before, but I wanted to see if there are any updates. There was a firmware update to fix the purple hue problem, and was hoping this that this issue would be resolved along with it, but no such luck. The external speaker cannot get quieter than 7/30. Anything below that seems to do little or nothing. The alarms are scary loud even at 1/30. I can't turn music at work because even the lowest volume is WAY too high.
The other problem is that the volume out of the headphone jack is way too soft. I have to bring the volume up to 30/30 to not have to crank the volume to a deafening level in the car, for example. If I forget to bring the volume down to 1/10 when I get out of the car, I get startled by a loud notification. It's a constant game of going from 1/30 to 30/30 and back to 1/30. It is very frustrating! Can we expect a fix for this sometime soon?
    -Jonathan

I agree there is a volume bug on the Lumia 900 - I have had my black Lumia for about 5-6 days now. I used my previous phones as my alarm in the morning and wanted to continue to do the same with this device. With the preinstalled alarms app, regardless of whether I have the volume at 1/30 , 15/30 or 25/30, when the alarm sounds it is incredibly loud. Not a very good way to wake up in t he morning so I am currently still using my IPhone as my alarm clock. Let's get a bug fix out for this Nokia; I am having to use a 3GS to pick up your slack.

  • ADC 30" color problems

I have a newer 30" display.. and have noticed recently that the colors are very inaccurate.. I have a deep pink or purple hue off the middle-left; and a brighter yellow spot dead center, then back to a pink hue off middle-right. What's up.. I thought this was a $2000 pro-usable monitor? We use it for photography & videography post production work. We recently bought a HP monitor for $600 and the colors across the monitor are 100% accurate (sheesh).
So here's my question.. is this normal behavior for the 30"ADC or do I have a lemon that needs to be fixed?

i've got two new 30 inchers and they don't exhibit that problem. mine are absolutely perfect, gorgeous, good accurate color, especially when calibrated.

  • N8/C7 PURPLE SCREEN ISSUE AND HOW TO SPOT IF YOU H...

MODS THIS IS NOT A POLL OR IN ANYWAY SHAPE OR FORM A VOTING THREAD IT IS A THREAD TO WARN USERS ABOUT THE PURPLE SCREEN ISSUE AND HOW TO SPOT IT IN THEIR PHONES CLEAR AS DAY , I HAVE BEEN INFORMED FROM THE DIRECTOR OF COMUNICATIONS AT NOKIA VIA TWITTER THAT THIS THREAD IS OK AND THE TEST IMAGE IS FINE TO LOAD UP
The following has been added by vandelay (Nokia administrator) :
Please note that there is normally a slight variation in the purple color level in each display
unit. This is related to the display manufacturer's optical tuning process. However, some Nokia C7 and Nokia N8 users seem to be experiencing a
slightly higher level of purple color tint on their device screens.
Nokia Care's technical experts told me that the easiest way to spot this problem is to just look at the black idle screen of the device - if there is a clear purple color tint on the idle screen, you should have the device inspected at a Nokia Care point. They will repair the device the device under warranty if there is a clear defect in the device.
So seeing some purple on the test image does not necessarily mean that your screen is faulty, but we hope that it helps some people to decide whether they should visit a Nokia Care point.
    (end of vandelay's addition)
as you may or may not have read many n8s and c7s have a purple tint issue
this can easily be spoted by saving the picture below to your pc , transfering it to your n8/c7 , then viewing the image in your gallery
if the image shows purple squares in some areas then iam afraid you have one of the screens that is showing defects in gradiation of colurs and the greyscale
there are also many n8s out in the wild that dont have this problem , i have 3 n8s , my gfriend has one , hers is perfect and shows the test image with no purple tint at all my three n8s all have purple tint and some display it worse then others
the test image can be viewed on any brightness and it should display just as it does on your monitor screen ,my gfriends n8 displays the image perfect under all brightness levels yet my three n8s show the purple tint heavily on low brightness and not as much on full brightness
the test image can also be viewed via tv out and hdmi out and again if you have a defect screen you will see the image perfect on your tv yet on your n8 screen you will have purple tints
here is the test image for you to load to your device and view via the gallery
as stated above if you have one of the screens with defects in colour gradiation you will see some of the squares as purple
this shouldnt be happending as there n8s out there that display the test image perfectly
from all my research on this in the last month and my time studying ICT systems support in which i have a diploma , it seems clear to me that nokia have used at least two screens in the build of the n8
many phones bought between october launch and december dont have the problem yet there are still some that do but not as many as now , phones bought from the end of december up untill current date seem to have the issue moreand its now nearly impossible to find one without the purple tint issue
this leads me to believe that from the start nokia were using at least two screen in the n8 , then one started to run out around december and by the end of december a huge majority of n8/c7 handsets have the troubles, if not all of them shipped after december
infact ive been to every phone shop in lakeside , chelmsford , colchester which included : carphone warehouse , o2 , vodafone , orange , three ,  phones4u , tmobile all n8/c7 handsets i asked to look at had the problem not one n8 i looked at didnt have the issue
i have been in contact with nokia care escalation team , all they did is send me very badly refurbed handsets back for my brand new n8s ,  which across all three handsets had the following faults
    #hdmi covers scratched and worn
#no imei number under the hdmi cover on one of them
#torx screws on battery cover very worn
#plastic top caps not fitted right
#one had a huge gap between the silver screen surround and the main chasis of n8
#they all still had purple tint issue
so nokia sent me three refurbed handsets for my brand new n8s , i obvously complained as they were so new i could have taken them back to the shops with the reciept but now nokia had changed the imei numbers my reciept was useless , i said i should be sent three brand new n8s , they again sent me badly refurbed handsets just as bad as the 1st lot and again all three of them had purple screen issues
i complained again and this time supervsior took over the case and agreed that 3 new n8s should be sent to me as mine was so new , she got them sent out and this time they were new but they still have the purple screen issue
thats a toatal 12 n8s direct from nokia and all of them have had the issue  so i cant recomend going to a nokia care point or nokia care uk as the refurbs i was sent was a complete joke and looked like they were just used handsets that had been through a rough time
through this month of me talking to nokia and sending emails and getting these phones swapped back to a condition of the phones that i sent them , they have said they are investigating it and taking it seriously however after some of their actions towards users (myself included) on these forums it doesnt seem like they are taking it very serious at all , they have known about it for a month now and we still have not had an offical response from nokia themselves

there are many more threads about this issue across the net and if you google n8 screen problems or n8 purple screen problems you will come acroos many many pages of unhappy users from all across the globe
i just hope nokia sort this out soon
ho do you users with the problem feel about this issue and how do you think nokia should resolve it
id be happy for a screen swap at a nsc or via warranty postal repair as long as it could be done quickly and the user wasnt without their phone for too long after all this is nokias mistake and not the users that bought the phone so all fixes should be at minimal disturbance to them
heres hoping when you test the image your not as unlucky as me and many other n8 owners from across the globe , its a brilliant phone but this screen issue lets it down alot especially during watching films and stuff

sorry to hear you guys are having troubles too , its a shame sucha  great device as the nokia n8 has had an issue like this arise , it is effecting alot of n8/c7 handsets and is quite a widespread issue across the globe
it would be great to hear from as many users as possible about this and what they think about it as a user of the c7/n8
    jimmyireland about your post mate
yes it was written by me and yes it ws deleted not once but 3or4 times actually
the mods said it was because i had set up a poll and voting system , so i read through forum rules and posted it again with what fitted their guidelines and even put in big caps that it was not a poll but a thread to help users identify a problem and discuss it which is what the forum is for , it was deleted again , i then posted it again with just the test image and how to spot the problem and again put big caps that the post fitted their guidelines and was just to help users , it was again deleted and i was banned by mods for 2 days saying that i had broke forum rules and posted a poll and that the test image wasnt a proper test image
i then asked other users to post the image but when they tryed nokias spam filter kicked in with a message saying that their post contained spam and that they should write it again and try posting again
to be honest it really looked like they were trying to cover up the issue , fair enough my 1st post could be considered a very very rough poll but the posts i made afterwards were edited to fit nokias guidelines and they still removed them ad banned me and then other users posts were marked as spam
so i tweeted alot of people and even nokia have said that as long as the post doesnt contain polls/votes then it will be fine to postand that mods shouldnt delete it , which was excellent news and hopefull this thread will stay and users can load the image and test their screens and then discuss the issue here so nokia can see users discussion in one thread , it will alo help awareness of the issue
hence this post that isnt a poll but a thread to help users identify wether their n8/c7 has a screen with a defect in the gradiation of colours
as stated in original post not all n8s have this problem my gfriends doesnt and it displays the test image perfectly on all brightness settings , yet my n8s show the image as very purple on low brightness and the brighter the screen goes the less the purple is shown , it is still there just not as visible as it is in the lower brightness settings
as i also mentioned many n8s between october and mid december are fine although some still have the problem , yet from mid december till current date the amount of n8s with purple issue is much much higher and it now seems very very rare that you will get a brand new n8 from the shops without this screen issue which leads me to believe that from launch nokia have used at least two screens in the builds of the n8 , some great screens and then the ones with dodgy purple tint , from the threads across the web it seems like the good screens nokia were using either run out or they have failed to source the same screen or the manufactuer of the screen has changed something
iam not a nokia hater and iam not here to cause trouble or loose nokia sales etc
i love nokia have used them for years and used symbian since the 6680 , iam always helping users across the web with their nokia problems and am an avid user on nokia users please check my profile and feel free to check my posts and how many times ive been thanked for being helpfull
    http://www.nokiausers.net/forum/members/buxz777.html
as you can see i love nokia and spend alot of time using their devices , speaking highly of them and helping their users with problems, i also love good customer services and customer relations
i understand that big companys have build issues iam a gadget lover and trained in ict supprt iam not silly and understand that these things happend and building these phones with such complicated electronics and some could end up with issues , it could happend to anyone , sony , apple , samsung , blackberry , lg etc etc
however its how the companys react to these issues and relate to their customers that have spent 100s of pounds on their devices that is important , issues do arise , its how the company looks after its customers thats important
i think alot of users think the same , they dont expect nokia to click their fingers and go heres a fix but they do expect nokia to investigate the issue and they do expect nokia to relate to its customers and not ignore them or the issue which is what it looks like when posts are deleted and users are banned for posting informative posts that help users identify a problem
things like sending users really bad refurbs for brand new n8s also dont help users confidence in nokia statement of going to nokia care about the problem as all i got was second hand looking n8s that still have the problem they were sent off with and the originals were in much better condition
like i say iam not here to cause trouble and i love nokia the n8 is the best phone ive ever had and its almost my dream device and everything ive wanted on a device for years its the ultimate convergance device and agadget lovers dream , however when you see your gfriends and some of your mates n8 screens display the test image perfect then your n8 display it with a very purple hue it does dissapoint you and you do hope that nokia will take notice and fix the issue with the least amunt of hassle to the users
cheers jimmy and sorry about the long post just wanted to clear some things up
now lets get back to discussing the issue and what other users think about it
    have a great evening

  • LCD as second screen has purple tint!! Help!!

    Hello all,
I have just connected a 19" LCD screen to my iBook 14" through the DVI adapter that came with my mac. While the iBook has instantaneously mirrored my desktop, the LCD screen has a heavy purple tint on it. The screen on my iBook is still fine but the LCD screen is unworkable. Everything appears on it, its just heavily purple-ised. Does anyone know why this is, and what I can do about it?
    Any help greatly appreciated
    regards,
    Glen Kristensen

Sorry, my mistake, the LCD screen I am using as a second screen is 17" not 19". I Have tried on another screen (but the same model) so I am sure the problem is with the iBook. I don't really see why the iBook underpowering the external screen would make it turn purple. Let me just clarify, the screen is displaying everything crystal clearly, the only problem is that there is a purple hue or tint over everything. So for example the colour white isn't white on the second screen but purple.

  • MSI R7970 DDR5 3GB - Reddish/purple display

    Hi everyone,
As the topic above, I'm currently faced with a reddish/purple hue display. I'm not too sure if it is root cause for it though.
The only thing for sure is that there are no problems with the monitor(test done) and the cause for this should either be hardware or software.
I'm going to take my PC apart to do a maintenance and see if it would help. In the mean time, could anyone advise on what may the problem be? Appreciate it.
PS: Weird. I can't seem to locate any file attachment button here even though it says so at the bottom to open up the radio drop down for attachments.
    Cheers
