Calling a web service in an ABAP code

Hello Experts,
Is it possible to consume a web service in an ABAP code?
Note: I am using SAP R/3 4.7.
Thanks!
Jeffrey

Do you mean opening the web browser through our ABAP source code?
If yes, then please use the function module: "CALL_INTERNET_ADDRESS". This will do the job for you..
Reward points if I have helped you.

  • Calling a Web Service from an Abap Program

    Hi Everyone,
I have been put to task to write an RFC that has web service calls within it. My question is if anyone has a coding examples, and or best practices when calling a web service, like connections, event handling, asynchronous, synchronous, return values, xml, acknowledgements.
    Thanks a lot,
    Steve

  • Call a web service in ABAP - how to do LPCONFIG?

I have searched through OSS, SAP help and SDN - and I see the answer if I call a web service from Java - but I cannot find the answer if I call a web service through normal ABAP in R/3.
I apologize if I am asking the same question again or if it is already there and I am just overlooking it.
I am creating a client proxy in R/3 to call an outside web service through ABAP.
I create the client proxy in our test system using SE80.
I create a logical port using LPCONFIG to point at the test web service on the other system.
I code the ABAP program - and everything works great.
I transport the client proxy - and I transport the LPCONFIG information.
Now I get into production - when I do transaction LPCONFIG to change the URL of the web service to be their production web service URL instead of their test web service URL - it asks for the system to be opened.
Like it wants to create a transport. The basis people would have to open the system to be modified.  Which at least in our shop is not something we do.
    Here is the error:
      Message no. TK430
The system administrator has set your logon client to the 'not modifiable' status.
Client-specific objects can not be changed in this client.
      Contact the system administrator.
For more information, see the SAP Library under Change and Transport System.
For an ABAP program in R/3 using a client proxy - how do I call a test service in our test r/3 system and a production web service in production R/3 system without changing my ABAP code?
Should this be done through LPCONFIG?
    Or what am I missing?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Scott,
    Please refer to following URL
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/16/285d32996b25428dc2eedf2b0eadd8/content.htm
I think you are using the second of the following 3 approaches mentioned in above documentation and so credential configuration is not available at run-time.
Please check if this is helpful to you. If you have already looked at this then please ignore this message.
There are three ways of configuring the call address of the Web service:
    ●     As HTTP destination: Select an RFC destination of type G (HTTP connection to an external server) or type H (HTTP connection to the SAP System) from transaction SM59. The HTTP destination approves the configuration of the logon procedure, encryption, and state management. This is the preferred access procedure.
    ●     As URL: The URL of the Web service is written to the corresponding input field when you create the logical port. The disadvantage of this procedure is that, with the exception of the URL, no other parameters for logging on, encryption, or state management can be configured. This is possible only for Web services that do not require a logon procedure, encryption, or state management.
    ●     As local path prefix: This access procedure is only intended for accessing your own system. Here you call the default RFC destination NONE to address your own server. The specified local path prefix is used to identify the called Web service.

  • Error consuming Web service from an ABAP Program

    Hello guys,
I'm trying to consume a Web Service that is exposed in the internet. The conecction to the Web Service its via SSL.
I'm having a problem at the moment I call the web service from my abap program.  But I'm able to test the same web service, from the SE80 tx with out trouble.
I have identify that there is a difference in the SOAP envelope, that its received in the Web service, when I call it from the test enviorment and when I call it from the program.
This is how it is received from the TEST tool (a succesfull call of th WS) :

  • Calling a web service In Netweaver 7.0 abap stack through an external alias

    Hello,
In CRM 2007 (Netweaver 7.0 abap stack SP 16), we have defined a web service from a module function using the wizard and configuring it with SOAMANAGER.
This web service works great when calling it with the "official" URL, something like :
    http://host.domain:port/sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/zwebservice/client/zoperation/zbinding
We would like to use a more simple URL. So with SICF, I have created an external alias /zwebservice which points to the "official" URL.
The problem is that it does not work. I get every time an HTTP 500 error code and an error Message
u201CThe configuration of the http server is missingu201D.
Do you think that it is possible to call a web service through an external alias ?
Thanks in advance for any ideas or solution !
    Olivier

Seems that no one has tried it...
    I close the question.

  • Error when calling Java Web Services from ABAP.

    Hello experts:
In my project, I will call Java Web Services with ABAP coding. With WSDL, I generated a proxy class and created a HTTP connection (t-code: SM59) and a logical port (t-code:lpconfig) for this proxy class. But when running, I would receive the folllowing errors:
SOAP:1.023 SRT: Processing error in Internet Communication Framework: ("ICF Error when receiving the response: HTTP COMMUNICATION FAILURE")
If I used HTTPS, there is no problem.
    Regards
    Bob

    Hi Bob,
It might be the possibility that your java web server is configured to listen only on HTTPS.
If your HTTPS is working fine, then first check with your JAVA server for HTTP connectivity, then try it calling through ABAP.

    Piyush

  • Calling a web service in ABAP

    Hello Experts!
After I am assuming the SOAP Experts at the SOAP Forum
are being already on christmas vacation
I saw no other possiblitiy to post my question right here.
I have created a web service through:
Open the affected  function Module  .
Choose Utilities  -> More Utilities  -> Creating a Web Service  -> From Function Module.
Later you can test it with SOAMANAGER etc.
    The goal is now (requirement)
Calling a web service in ABAP.
How can I generally call a (eg .above created by me ) webservice with abap which is existing on the sap system (Web Services which are generated from Function Modules)
Has really nobody such a problem ever before ?
    Regards
    ertas ilhan

    Michael thank you very much.
    You are saying:
The easiest way to do it is with the WSDL file that you'll get from the existing Web Service. In your proxy class it will generate a method which you can then call within your program to consume that web service.
I understand the first part with the WSDL file but the second part it is unclear to me with
In your proxy class it will generate a method which you can then call within your program to consume that web service
Can you please explain me this more detailed.
    Thanks

  • Issue in creating web service for a ABAP Function Module

    Hi,
now i'm learning how to create web service for a ABAP Function Module. I used the following steps.
    1. select the Function Module, named "zws_test".
    2. in the context menu, select "create->proxy object". so we enter into wizard.
    3. in the wizard, press the radio button "Service Provider".
    4. in the next page, press the radio button "Existing ABAP Objects(Inside Out)".
    5. In the next page, Enter the "zws_test_prvider" as Service Definition and select "Function Module" as Endpoint Type.
    6. in the next page, enter "zws_test" as Function Module and mark the "Mapping der Namen" button
    7. in the next page, select "PRF_DT_IF_SEC_LOW" as Profile and mark "Deploy Service".
    8. Save in the local package.
    9. then it will pop up a window with title "WSDL Source". i selected "URL/HTTP Destination" and press "OK".
10.in the next page, i enter the URL as "http://hostname:portnumber/", and press "OK".
    11. then it will pop up a window with title "Display logs". A record with error message "HTTP error(return code 404, message "Not found")" appears.
    12. i press "ok" and a service provider with name "zws_test_prvider" appears in my local package.
    13. i use "zws_test_prvider"'s URL to create a service consumer "ZCO_WS_TEST_CONSUMER" and logic portal "LP1".
    14. But when i test my service consumer "ZCO_WS_TEST_CONSUMER", it will throw an exception "cx_ai_system_fault" with errortext "SOAP:14 Unexpected element -el=definitions ns=http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/".
    15. I use t-code SM59 to test connection  and get the following info.
          Status HTTP Response     200
          Status Text                      OK
          Duration Test Call             328 ms.
who can give me the reasons about item 11 and 14, and explain me how to create service provider and service consumer for a Function Module.
    Thanks in advance

  • Handling Java Web Service Exception in ABAP

    Hi
I have created a web service in Java using NWDS.
Which has a businessMethod which throws a Exception based on certain business logic.
I have consumed this  Web Service Method using .NET Client.
i am able to catch the Exception and get the Exceltion Message.
But when i try to consume the same web service Method in ABAP,
i am not getting the Exception Message .
    The Method call works fine.
What am i missing here ?
    regards
    Rajendra

    Hi,
Upon further investigation and comparison of the custom exception object (generated during consumer proxy creation for a CUSTOM web service) with a standard exception object(generated during consumer proxy creation for a STANDARD web service) I found that the sub-elements of the exception structure errorPart are not available in the custom exception object (and one of these sub-elements is the message text).
Call Stack,ExceptionName and MessageText Elements are missing in the errorPart node of Exception
Node. as seen in the ABAP Exception structure generated.
    Queries:
    1.       Are there any standards which need to be followed when coding exceptions in the Java web service for consumption in ABAP such that all sub-elements of the exception object are also created in ABAP during the proxy creation?
    2.       Can we get the Java code for a standard web service available in SAP Netweaver? Asking the same as the exception object created for the standard web service RoomABAPWS contains the sub-elements. Getting the Java code of the same will be very helpful in resolving the issue.
    Regards
    Rajendra

  • Incorporating web service in an ABAP web dynpro view

    Hi,
I am trying to call an external web service to have its results displayed in an ABAP web dynpro view. I've seen various threads that are dealing with the same issue, but none of them seemed to have helped me (I am quite new at this so maybe I'm just having a slow beginning, please bear with me)
I'm interested in extracting information from a simple web service online. To this end, I went on www.xmethods.net and found a "quote of the day" service, which is practical because it doesn't even need input.
I am writing down all the steps I've taken, even if they seem trivial, because maybe my problem is the result of a silly mistake I'm not yet capable of noticing...
I am mostly following the instruction from here:
    <a href="/people/thomas.jung3/blog/2004/11/17/bsp-a-developers-journal-part-xiv--consuming-webservices-with-abap:///people/thomas.jung3/blog/2004/11/17/bsp-a-developers-journal-part-xiv--consuming-webservices-with-abap
The SAP I use is the one on the SC7 system, seems to be ECC 6.0
After I created my package, I go on to create a Proxy Object, and when prompted for a WSDL source, I give the URL destination I got from xmethods.net: <a href="http://www.swanandmokashi.com/HomePage/WebServices/QuoteOfTheDay.asmx?WSDL">http://www.swanandmokashi.com/HomePage/WebServices/QuoteOfTheDay.asmx?WSDL</a>
Doing this I get an HTTP error (return code 400, message "ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED") (others have had this problem, e.g. Calling Web Services from ABAP, but the answers offered haven't been much help to me)
and having no idea what to change or not change in SICF and other settings, I decided to save the file locally, and so I then created a Proxy Object by choosing the WSDL source as the local file I saved.
Telling me that multiple port types exist (SOAP, httpGet and httpPost) I picked SOAP. I can then see the properties of my Client Proxy Object, its structure with the classes and methods etc.
Then, following Thomas Jung's procedure, I went to create a logial port which I named QUOTE_PORT. When I do the F8 test he suggests to do, I get an error: SRT: Processing error in Internet Communication Framework: ("ICF Error when receiving the response: ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED") which was predictable since I still haven't resolved that same problem above.
I then proceed to create a Web Dynpro Component. In that component, in the component controller's context, I created a simple node into which I added attributes which I created using the wizard -> Attributes from components of structure, and there I picked the structures that had just been created in my proxy object, each in its own node
I have three proxy structures generated: GET_QUOTE_SOAP_IN, GET_QUOTE_SOAP_OUT and QUOTES. This last one has two attributes which are STRINGs, the quote of the day and its author.
I then create a rather trivial view, whose context I have mapped to the component controller's context so as to have access to those "quote" and "author" attributes I just mentioned. The layout is simplistic at best, containing only two textviews, each one bound to its respective attribute.
Once the application has been done and tested, the output is a blank page. I'm hoping that this is only because of that ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED error. Has anyone else had these problems when calling external web services? Is this the right procedure for displaying output?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Micol

Hi, sorry for the long reply time.
from work I do have proxy settings:
        automatic configuration script: http://proxy:8083
proxy server for LAN: proxy / 8080
from home it's a proxy free connection.
In both cases I tried changing the settings in the SICF transaction, but it hasn't changed much.
With the HTTP error that I get, I get a long text on how to maybe solve it,
<b>No connection to Integration Builder (only generic data visible)
    Message no. SPRX081</b>
In this long text, I have four tests to do in order to check the connection (as far as I can understand)
    1. The address of the Integration Builder must be stored in the SAP system
    =>Check/maintain with report SPROX_CHECK_IFR_ADDRESS
    2. The HTTP connection of the ERP application server must function correctly
    =>Check with report SPROX_CHECK_HTTP_COMMUNICATION
    3. The Integration Builder server must be running correctly
    =>Check with report SPROX_CHECK_IFR_RESPONSE
    4. Proxy generation must interpret the data of the Integration Builder correctly
    ==>Check with report SPROX_CHECK_IFR_CONNECTION
The checks for 1&2 work okay, but I get errors for checks 3&4
    "Integration Builder data not understood"
How can I go on from here?
    Thx

  • How to debugg a Web Service ? Any T-code Available?

    Hi all,
I developed a ZRFC enabled function module that creates a Sales Order in CRM for both Normal Materials and Configurable materials.
The RFC works perfect and if I test it in SE37 t-code I am able to generate the Sales order with all the Characteristic values for the VC material.
Now I exposed that RFC as a Web Service by calling the web service creation wizard u2026.. and I am testing the Web Service in SOAMANGER T-code.
Now the Web Service generates the Sales Order but the configuration data is missing..i.e if I go and check the Sales order in SAP GUI..i find that the Characteristic Values are missing for the variant configurable material.
So now I created another Web Service for this RFC function module and still I encounter the same problemu2026..........

  • Calling External Web Service from Workflow

    Hello Gurus,
I'm working on a workflow development in which I have to invoke an external web service (non-SAP) from a workflow task. As soon as the work item is created in SAP, I need to send a notification via web service call. So I thought of having a workflow step to call the web Service.
    (1) Can I use WF_EXTSRV wihout having a BSP application.? There is no BSP application in my case.
    (2) What are the possible options I have to achieve this?
    Thanks
    Steve.

    Hi,
I don't see a reason why you should necessarily use WF_EXTSRV.
Just create ABAP class in SE24, for example ZCLASS. Add interface IF_WORKFLOW to the interface tab. Implement the interface methods. Actually you don't really even have to implement them, just go into the methods and activate them. Now you have a workflow compatible ABAP class.
Now create new static&public method to it, for example CALL_WEBSERVICE. Add any importing and exporting parameters that you need (what info you need from workflow to call the web service and vice versa). Code your web service call from this new method.
Create new task in PFTC. Call your new method ZCLASS->CALL_WEBSERVICE. from the task. Add the task as a new step into the workflow in a suitable place.

    1. created a client proxy object in transaction se80
    2. called that proxy object in my program
    3. executed the program
    problem
    1. an exception 'CX_AI_SYSTEM_FAULT' is caught with error code 'GET_BUSINESS_SYSTEM_ERROR' and error text 'An error occurred when determining the business system (SLD_API_EXCEPTION)'
    some facts abt the system:
    1. we do not have XI server.
    2. i havent created a logical port manually still there exists one entry in table SRT_LP which is as follows-
    PROXYCLASS - CO_CAT_PING
    LP_NAME - CO_CAT_PING
    ACTIVE - A
    DEFAULTPORT - X
    3. i found error messae in transaction 'sldcheck' as 'Summary: Connection to SLD does not work'
    4. i havent created a rfc destination.

    thanks in advance,
    Sagar
