Calling an ejb from glassfish to weblogic server

I'd like to be able to call a stateless session bean from a glassfishV3 server that is residing on weblogic 9.2.3. (Ejb spec 2.1 NOT 3.0 please)
I've done this successfully from Tomcat to weblogic, but there are a few hiccups when trying this on glassfish.
Basically what I've attempted is this:
1.) I add these jvm properties to the glassfish startup:
-Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBClass=weblogic.corba.orb.ORB
-Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass=weblogic.corba.orb.ORB
-Djavax.rmi.CORBA.PortableRemoteObjectClass=weblogic.iiop.PortableRemoteObjectDelegateImpl
-Djavax.rmi.CORBA.UtilClass=weblogic.iiop.UtilDelegateImpl
2.) Copy weblogic.jar, tools.jar, and webservices.jar from the weblogic/server/lib directory to the glassfish lib/ext directory
...glassfish won't start then because of the weblogic.jar...
3.) Move the weblogic.jar to the WEB-INF/lib directory of my war in glassfish.
Now I try it and get:
(I'm skipping some of the stacktrace at the start)
.....java.lang.IllegalAccessError: tried to access method weblogic.kernel.KernelStatus.initialized()V from class weblogic.kernel.Kernel at weblogic.kernel.Kernel.ensureInitialized......
I'm guessing that this has to do with the "weblogic kernel" not being initialized. So now I'm stuck.
Am I going down the wrong path?
I've also tried these other proposed solutions:
1.) Changing the connection properties of the InitialContext to use these properties:
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://localhost:7001");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "weblogic");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "weblogic");
2.) Using RMI over IIOP instead of T3.
None of these with any luck.
If anyone has done this successfully I'd appreciate some insight.

Eric

  • Can I call an EJB from the database?

    Hi,
    I've just spent the last few days attempting to call an EJB from a stored procedure in a 10g database (and still haven't succeeded).
    Now having spent hours searching the web (and this forum) for any successful examples (so far I have found none) I thought I'd add a message to see if there is anybody out there who has done this successfully. If so can you please provide me some details on how to do this?
    Alternatively, I'd appreciate any input on how I can overcome my current hurdle in attempting to do this myself.
    Here's how far I've got in my attempt:
    I have a simple stateless session bean deployed to both Oracle 10gAS (a standalone OC4J container in 10.1.3) and to Weblogic 9. I have a client java class that calls a method on this bean and displays some ouput if successful. This all works from a standalone JVM (version 1.4) on both Weblogic and 10gAS.
    I then tried to load the required libraries for Weblogic onto the database (namely the Weblogic.jar file). This resulted in the addition of some 32,000 odd objects of which 30,000 odd could not be resolved. I figured a lot of these may be down to JVM version issues (I believe that Weblogic 9 uses the 1.5 JRE) so I decided to put the Weblogic test on the back burner for now and just use the Oracle app server.
    The tests with the Oracle app server looked promising. I only needed a handful of libraries to be loaded onto the database and all the relevant classes required for my test client had resolved (including the initial context factory required to do the jndi lookup of the bean). After granting all the permissions I believed I needed I'd got to the point where I could do a jndi lookup of the EJB; but when I tried to create an instance of the beans remote interface I got the following error:
    java.security.AccessControlException: the Permission (java.lang.RuntimePermission getClassLoader) has not been granted to ProtectionDomain (file:generated/by/proxy <no certificates>)

    Any help in this matter would be greatfully appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Anand.

    Sure, here's the code. It's what JDev generates automatically but I have seperated some things into several diffrent lines so I could experiment easier.
    final Context context = getInitialContext();
    Object o=context.lookup( "SessionEJB4" );
    Object l= PortableRemoteObject.narrow( o, SessionEJB4Home.class );
    final SessionEJB4Home sessionEJB4Home = (SessionEJB4Home)l;
    SessionEJB4 sessionEJB4 = sessionEJB4Home.create();
    String ret=( sessionEJB4.hello( ) );
    As I mentioned, for this I have used EJB2.1 bean, because I had same problems with EJB3.0, so I tried earlier versions of Java to make sure that is not the problem.
    hello() method just returns string "hello".
    Of course, this works in standalone client that is not loaded into database.
    Now, I loaded all the jars mentioned in this thread, using loadjava options -v -resolve, and I loaded client using options -v -resolve -genmissing . Select query on user objects in database shows that client class and relevant classes are all valid.
    Then I created stub and ran it. First it stopped throwing exception ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncought Java exception: Java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError.
    Method I try to run returns String value which is hello message if it works fine, else it prints the part of the stack trace. In this case, after p[revious error, When I try to run it again, i get return from the method :
    Lookup error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError; nested exception is:
         java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
    com.evermind.server.rmi.RMICall.throwRecordedException(RMICall.java:89)
    com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIClientConnection.waitForJndiResponse(RMIClientConnection.java:371)
    com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIClientConnection.lookup(RMIClientConnection.java:179)
    com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIClient.lookup(RMIClient.java:283)
    com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIClientContext.lookup(RMIClientContext.java:51)
    javax.naming.InitialContext.lookup(InitialContext.java:347)
    simpleejbproject.EJB4Client.hello(EJB4Client.java:35)
    Of course, regular version of the client I run frokm command line works fine.
    So I'm kind of a stuck here. I followed all directions, tried it on oracle 9 and oracle 10 DB, the problems remain the same. Am I missing something here?
    Thanks
    Just to add, getInitialContext()
        private static Context getInitialContext() throws NamingException {
            Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
            // Oracle Application Server 10g connection details
            env.put( Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "oracle.j2ee.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory" );
            env.put( Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "oc4jadmin" );
            env.put( Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "manager1" );
            env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "opmn:ormi://mserv:4005:home/TestEjb4");
            return new InitialContext( env );
    It goes withouth any exceptions.

    Did you package your JSPs in a WAR and your EJBs in a JAR and package the
              WAR and JAR in an EAR? That is how to do it in 6.0. Works well.

  • How to upload and download any file from plsql through weblogic server

    hi all,
    how to upload and download any file from plsql through weblogic server? i am using oracle 10g express edition and jboss.
    Thanks and Regards,
    MSORA

    hi bala ,
    for a windown server u can use VNC (virtual network connection) which opens a session on u r desktop later u can drag and drop form there vice versa and for a linux box you can use Win SCP which helps to open a session with interface to u r desktop in both cases you can upload and down load files very easiy just as we drag and drop items in a simple pc .. we use the same technique...

  • Challenge: call local ejb from remote ejb on weblogic 9.2

    Hi ALL,
    How do I call to local ejb from remote ejb object. The jar file is deployed on weblogic server 9.2, if you want get it http://geocities.yahoo.com.br/lindembe/BEAProject.jar and the source code are http://geocities.yahoo.com.br/lindembe/BEAProject.zip. It is a sample app with two ejb that works so good on JBOSS, JOnAS, but BEA Weblogic.....
    The complete problem you watch http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=768718&messageID=4387570#4387570
    or
    http://forums.bea.com/bea/message.jspa?messageID=600043148&tstart=0

    Your code in SigemFacadeBean should just do:
    InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
    when you lookup the local EJB. (This will work on all app servers. There's no need to put an app-server specific intial context factory in your code.)
    Also, you can remove the jndi-name setting for the local ejb from your weblogic-ejb-jar.xml. jndi-name is only applied to remote ejbs.

    If you can, the best way would be to to change the column name from SUBTYPE to something that isn't a SQL reserved key word.
    You might get around this particular problem by adding @Column(name = "\"SUBTYPE\"") on your attribute. This will force eclipselink to add quotation marks in the generated SLQ, but I think it will cause problems when it comes to some more complicated queries.
    In my opinion, the only safe way here is to not use column names that are in conflict with SLQ reserved key words.

  • Using EJB with Hibernate on Weblogic Server ADF platform

    Hi all,
    We use Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 and WLS 10.3
    I tried to use Hibernate on my project according to this link well, EJB with Hibernate On Weblogic
    I wanto use Hibernate tool because toplink and eclipselink can not achieve the issue about generating update* ddl on schema, they can just only re-create the tables -not real update.
    Firstly i got the related jars from internet: http://www.2hotfile.com/di-LSBU.png
    cglib-2.2
    antlr-2.7.6
    commons-collections-3.1
    dom4j-1.6.1
    hibernate3
    hibernate-validator-4.1.0.Final
    javassist-3.9.0.GA
    jta-1.1
    slf4j-api-1.5.11
    slf4j-nop-1.5.11
    Then i added to model project as library dependencies: http://www.2hotfile.com/di-GMSZ.png
    configured persistence.xml as below:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>
    <persistence xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence"

    Thanks again for your consideration.
    I double checked CLASSPATH. And seen starting wls with classpath which i defined, but no change about ecxeption.

    @REM WARNING: This file is created by the Configuration Wizard.
    @REM Any changes to this script may be lost when adding extensions to this configuration.
    @REM *************************************************************************
    @REM This script is used to setup the needed environment to be able to start Weblogic Server in this domain.
    @REM
    @REM This script initializes the following variables before calling commEnv to set other variables:
    @REM
    @REM WL_HOME - The BEA home directory of your WebLogic installation.
    @REM JAVA_VM - The desired Java VM to use. You can set this environment variable before calling
    @REM this script to switch between Sun or BEA or just have the default be set.
    @REM JAVA_HOME - Location of the version of Java used to start WebLogic
    @REM Server. Depends directly on which JAVA_VM value is set by default or by the environment.
    @REM USER_MEM_ARGS - The variable to override the standard memory arguments
    @REM passed to java.
    @REM PRODUCTION_MODE - The variable that determines whether Weblogic Server is started in production mode.
    @REM DOMAIN_PRODUCTION_MODE
    @REM - The variable that determines whether the workshop related settings like the debugger,
    @REM testconsole or iterativedev should be enabled. ONLY settable using the
    @REM command-line parameter named production
    @REM NOTE: Specifying the production command-line param will force
    @REM the server to start in production mode.
    @REM
    @REM Other variables used in this script include:
    @REM SERVER_NAME - Name of the weblogic server.
    @REM JAVA_OPTIONS - Java command-line options for running the server. (These
    @REM will be tagged on to the end of the JAVA_VM and
    @REM MEM_ARGS)
    @REM

  • Using Session EJB from MDB in Weblogic 11G

    I am having trouble with what should be a very simple operation. I have created an MDB and deployed it successfully on the Weblogic managed server. Then in a separate application, I created a Stateless session bean that I would also like to call from the MDB. My SSB deploys and works fine. I added an @EJB annotation to the MDB so I could instantiate and access the SSB from the MDB. In order to resolve the interface class in jDeveloper, I went to my MDB project properties under libraries and classpath and added the jar file for my ejb.
    When I try to redeploy the MDB, I get a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException on the SSB interface class.
    Is there an example somewhere of how to properly create and configure all of the deployment packages and refereneces I need on the weblogic server? The SSB is a common service that going to be called by a lot of other MDBs in my system. Optimally, what I would like to do is to deploy the ejb-client.jar as a shared library so all of my MDBs can use it.
    Thanks for any pointers!

    I am using jDeveloper 11g, so both my MDB and SLSB were built and deployed using the wizzards in the IDE.
    The MDB is inside of an ejb-jar and deployed to a managed server. I am doing my development on a box that is resource challenged so I setup my WLS on a different box. There is an admin server (AdminServer) and a separate soa server (soa_server1) on which I have installed all of the SOA Suite packages.
    The SLSB represents a primary service for the system I am building. Service1SessionBean is deployed targeted to soa_server1. The MDB is also deployed to soa_server1. At least it was until I tried to add the EJB reference. Now it won't deploy at all.
    I would like to avoid packaging the Service1SessionBean client jar in with the MDB because there are several other EJBs that will also need to call the service. I would like to deploy the client jar as a shared library on soa_server1 so that any EJB artifacts that need to call it may do so, I have tried to deploy the client jar as a shared library using jDeveloper but when it deploys, it seems to be under the name "j2ee-app" rather than Service1SessionBean.

  • Call a class after successfuly starting weblogic server

    I need to create a class which which some parameter and start a application automatically just after starting weblogic server so that when user request for application he will get quick response. Actually my application takes some time to be start service so that the very first user need to wait for some time.
    I am facing the exception of not founding initial context is thrown because the load-on-startup and
    by creating startup class the classes are loaded before the server comes in to running state.
    In that case the server doen't have its host name and port configurated.
    At the time of application setup we need to get the initial context from t3: by using
    host and port. At this stage any of the process is unable to get the context.
    Is there any way by which we can automatically call a class after starting the server.

    I have deployed a ear file.
    which has one Ear project and one ejb module and one portal application and about 4 web applications.
    One of my webapplication need to be started before the user start working on any web application.
    I have tried to configure and run you suggestion but i am unable to find the place where should i put the listener and startup class entry. my ear project has weblogic-application.xml file i shall put these entry there then xml doesn't validate and i shall get the project compile error. and same case with the application.xml of ear project and portal application weblogic.xml and web.xml file. I have found only one which is not giving compile time error is wlw-config.xml in portal application.
    I am working on weblogic workshop 10.2
    if you have any idea about that where i can put these configuration entry so that the class will called on firing event by server. then please let me know.
    thanks in advance.

  • Creating Ejb link to another Weblogic server

    I am trying to create a EJB jndi link to another weblogic server from a weblogic
    server.
    Basically I have a web application that uses an EJB that is deploed on another
    weblogic server and I would like to connect to it.
    One way I can do is the remote lookup using the Hashtable and the context factory,
    something like this
    Hashtable props = new Hashtable();
    props.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://localhost:7001/");
    Context context = new InitialContext(props);
    I used a jndi-link in resin previously, that did not require me to do a remote
    lookup and rather created a link at the server level and allowed me to do a direct
    InitialContext() lookup.
    <jndi-link>
    <jndi-name>java:comp/env/ejb/test</jndi-name>
    <jndi-factory>weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory</jndi-factory>
    <init-param java.naming.provider.url="t3://xx.x.x.x:7001"/>
    <jndi-lookup>ejb.test</jndi-lookup>
    </jndi-link>
    Can I do something similar in Weblogic? If yes, how can I do it.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks,

    While I'm able to deploy without the CMP 1-1 relationship, the moment I introduce the 1-1 relationship, I get this error. Database used is Oracle 10g XE.
    I have been battling this error for more than a day now. Kindly help me fix this.
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Vinod

    Hi,
    I was able to figure out the root cause. I was using the primitive data type "int" for primary key and foreign key for one of the beans in the relationship. After I changed it to "Integer" wrapper type, the issue got resolved.

  • Calling a html page deployed in weblogic server using RequestDispatcher

    Hi All,
    I want to call a HTML page from a java page using requestdispatcher. The whole application is deployed in Weblogic server.I have used the below syntax to call the page from any machine..
    ServletContext sc = getServletContext();
         RequestDispatcher rd = sc.getRequestDispatcher("http://172.25.40.148:7001/Filecomparetool/Result3.html");
         rd.forward(req, res);
    Im getting Null pointer exception...Plz help..Thanks in advance!

    Please use the CODE tags (see the CODE button above, or the formatting tips page, and not the BOLD button.
    Post the stack trace.
    Either getServletContext or getRequestDispatcher is returning null. Find out which, read the API to find out why.

  • Permission Denied when calling a method from VB using WebLogic 8.1.2 JCOM

    Hi,
    We are calling an java/ejb methods from VB using WebLogic JCOM 8.1 SP2. But
    using JCOM, we are getting a error Permission denied when called from VB. We think
    that we should update pathch jintegra 2.0 or 2.1 in WebLogic 8.1.2 the to solve
    this issue, because we faced the same problen "permission denied" when we used
    JINTEGRA(third party software). Once we installed the JINTEGRA 2.1 it solved the
    issue.
    So, can anyone help on regard to this issue of "Permission denied" in WebLogic
    JCOM 8.1 SP2.
    Thanks & Regards
    Raghu

    I too am experiencing the jCOM error: "Run-time error '70': Permission Denied". The problem appears to be related to a Microsoft Security Patch KB835732 (MS04-011 which, as you indicated, has been fixed in J-Integra v2.1 (FYI, jCOM 8.1 is based on J-Integra 1.5.4, see J-Integra/jCOM versions.
    Did you ever get a resolution concerning 8.1 SP2? 8.1 SP3 is available now but I don't see any mention of jCOM updates in the WebLogic 8.1 What's New documention. I can't immediately upgrade (trying to stay on same version as a few other developers I work with) but I am hoping it is resolved in SP3.
