Camera connector & Samsung TL220 ... not a good match

So, I got my camera connection kit and only one half of it is useful. I have a Samsung TL220 and when I plug it into the camera connector the iPad says "Accessory unavailable. The attached accessory uses too much power." What?!
Then I get "The attached volume could not be mounted." So, apparently, I can't use my Samsung directly with the iPad. I have to scoop out the microSD card and attach that way. No biggie there, but it sure would be nice to be able to directly mount the camera. Very annoyed by this.

And more info on this power thing ... I looked closely at my USB cable for my camera. It has one of those parts along the cable that is like an additional piece where the cable runs through it. I am assuming this is some type of power element or power safety gadget of sorts. So perhaps that is the problem.
Warning then, if you have a camera USB cable that is not a straight cable but has that additional piece on it, its likely too "powerful" to use as the USB plugin for the iPad camera connector. I'm just guessing here, but its the only thing that makes sense to me. And it's a shame. The Samsung has a specific connector on the camera so I can't use a replacement cable (standard USB).
The "additional piece" on your USB cable is called a +ferrite bead+. It has nothing to do with power and its purpose is to eliminate RF interference generated by the cable. This is not your problem.
Make sure the battery in your camera is fully charged before connecting to the iPad.

Both cameras on the iPad are low resolution, something like 1 meg each (the back camera is capable of 720P HD video). But the cameras are mainly aimed at FaceTime / Skype type video calls, and unless you have very good light you are unlikely to get good stills photos or videos from the iPad - you are better off using a compact camera or even your phone.

  • IPad 2wifi, and camera connector kit problem

My iPad camera connector kit is not importing all the photos onto my iPad, with some pics it's, placing an exclamation mark rather than a tick, why is this happening?

I would suspect there is something going on with the SD card the iPad is not liking. Try to transfer all the photos to a computer which may be better at reading the card. Once you have verified all the photos are safely copied use your camera to format the card. This will wipe it completely and set it up again which can fix any formatting issue the card may have. If you see this issue again I would not trust it and get a new card.

  • Canon a620 with Apple camera connector

    Hi
Is the Canon A620 compatible with the Apple iPod camera connector?
Its not listed in the supported camera list - thats only a subset. My existing camera isn't listed either , but that still works. Sooo, I'm wondering if the A620 works OK?
    Thanks

I just got one of the camera connectors today and got it to work with the A620. My iPod froze the first time; I think because I plugged in the camera before turning it on. I've only transferred a few pictures so far. I'll probably fill up my 512MB card this week and see what happens. I'll repost if I have any problems.

  • My Samsung Galaxy Camers SD Card just won't work on my iPad via the camera connector - please help!

Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy Camera and I try to connect my Micro SDHC card via the iPad camera connector kit.
This has worked in the past with other memory cards but this is a new one and each time I go to the import option on my photos it says "No Photo"
I use an adapter to connect the sd card as it's micro, I have tried my other adapter to connect the camera via the lead however the accessory is not supported due to the camera needing more power!
I have read someone else's post and they suggested to reformat the card, I have used the disc utility to format it however it's saying its FAT32. I can't seem to format my card through my camera either?!
I'm at a loss as to what I can do and my local Apple store have stopped giving appointments to the Genius Bar so hoping someone here might help me out
I want to use my camera at christmas but know the picture upload is going to be a nightmare!!!

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Camera connector not connecting

New 5G IPOD with a camera connector (-: Followed instructions that came with the accessory and the instructions I found on Apple's web site. I am trying to connect to a canon 20d which is on the apple "supported camera list". But, to no avail...all I get when I connect the camera to the iPod is "unsupported device". I know the cable is good since I can connect the camera to my powerbook and Image Capture grabs the images without a problem. Anyone had success with the camera connector, 5G iPod and a 20D....any tricks?

      Mac OS X (10.4.3)
      Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Well I not sure how official the report was. This is new Apple store and I was talking with a fledgling genius. His first attempt to get me to go home was that the 5G ipods are not compatible with the camera connector. Then I asked if the camera connector section of the manual was a typo. He took a firmer grip of the might mouse and dug a bit deeper on the mother ship computer. After about a half hour of watching him sweat he made the report that this is an apple engineering issue. Not sure if that is admission of an official problem or some other thing going on. I suspect there will be a fireware upgrade soon...I found some other problems with my iPod that they could not resolve involving syncing with an address book. I was able to get past the unsupported device screen via a suggestion made above. But, the iPod did not "see" the images on my camera therefore did not download them. When I set the camera to PTP mode and connect it to my iPod my camera reports being Busy and does so for a long time...hours. The odd thing is that when I simply plug in the camera connector to the iPod without the camera plugged into it, the iPod reports unsupported device. So I read that to mean that the camera connector itself is an unsupported device. Joys of version 1.0! I am sure this will get worked out but, it may take a while. In the mean time I'll just take more pictures and listen to music. Glad the iPod is a multi-purpose device. I just hate paying for something that doesn't work as advertise.

  • My apple camera connector comes up with an error "this accessorty is not supported.." on my iPhone 4 now that I have updated to iOS7, previously it worked fine.  Any suggestions?

I have an iPhone 4 and a camera card connector (bought from apple) which worked fine together, then I updated to iOS7 and now when I plug it in it says " This accessory is not supported by this iPhone."
Any suggestions on how to get my certified apple camera connector working with my iPhone again would be greatly appreciated.  I really wish I hadn't updated to iOS7....

  • Camera connector and Samsung ST1000 - "too much power"?

I purchased my iPad primarily to take on an overseas holiday so that I could access my email; and
(ii) Download and manage photos off my Samsung St1000 digital camera.
I also purchased the camera connector. However, whenever I try and connect the camera via USB, I get a message that the "accessory is unavaile: The attached accessory uses too much power" and it won't let me access the photos to copy them across.
Any suggestions as to how I get around this problem?

Is the battery in the camera fully charged? Googling says the camera takes a micro SD card. There might be adopters that will allow putting the micro SD card in an adopter so you can use the camera connection kit SD card reader. Or you might be able to buy a USB micro
card reader and plug it into the camera connection kit USB connector.

My iPad is tellin me I can not use the camera connector because it uses too much power..... ***

I'm having same problems.   If I connect my blackberry it says it uses too much power.  If I take sd card out of phone and connect that way I get the same message.    The leaflet with the connector says go to Apple.com/support/iPad to find list of compatible cameras..........  I'm still trawling the site to find any such list!    Just need to know if it will work with a blackberry .....  If not I've got to take it back.    Have been advised by a friend to cut my losses get my money back and use Bump to transfer my pics.    I don't own a traditional camera because my phone has a great one.  Really don't want to have to carry a camera about with me!   They don't make it easy do they!

Is iPhoto open when you connect the camera and are you seeing the camera in iPhoto?
If not then describe in detail how you're going about trying to import photos from your Samsung camer into your iPhoto Library.  From what you've described we have no idea what's going on.
And where is this "import" folder located that you're referring to?

  • Camera connector kit not working at all

    Hi
I bought the camera connector kit and can't get it to work.
I don't really use the camera to take photos or shoot videos. I bought the kit mainly to add storage to my brand new iPad (3).
What I have tried to do so far, is:
    - create a DCIM folder on a USB stick AND on an SD card
    - copy .jpeg and H.264 video encoded files in those folders
    - insert the different connectors in the iPad
    - with the 32gb USB key, I got a message "not enough power"
    - with a 4gb USB key, all I got was " no photo to import"
    - with the SD card, once again, "no photo to import"
So, basically, nothing works. Am I doing anything wrong or is there something else I could try.
    Thanks

I bought the kit mainly to add storage to my brand new iPad (3).
The CCK can only be used to import photos/videos to the iPad. Can't be used to export photos/videos or other files, or use like an external hard drive.
Are you opening the Photos app when you try to import the photos & are they identified as .jpg?

  • HT4101 Camera connector kit not working with ipad3. Not at all able to see any photo . Have tried both the USB connector directly with camera and thru card reader. Tried by copying photos to DCIM folder also.

Got a iPad camera connector kit. It is not working as expected. It is not able to read any photos. Both the USB connector and sd card reader arenot showing any photos on iPad. Tried copying all photos directly in DCIM folder. Still no result.
Any other setting needs to be changed?

    Hey, thanks for your updates.
The photos are 8 character long and extension is .jpg
The file names are 8 characters long with 3 as alphapet followed by an "_" and then 4 numbers.
Initially the photos were in a folder inside DCIM folder. I manually copied them to DCIM folder, still no result.
    Can you advice.

If neither iPhoto not IC can seethe card it might suggest an issue with the card or the ports on the camera/mac.
Try reformat the card, change the ports and/or use a USB Card Reader.
