Camera/exposure info hide

Hello,
I am new to both Mac and Aperture 3 (recently downloaded from the app. store ) but not to photography.
I cannot seem to hide the camera/exposure info. box that follows my arrow around and covers a good deal of the image.
Any ideas, or is it a bug?

As always Kirby, short and straight to the point, nice...

How do I create an ACR custom lens profile if camera exposure can't be set to manual?
I ask this question for the Nokia 808 PureView 41MP camera. It produces stunning image quality but exposure can only be controlled via EV +/- compensation. I need a lens profile to correct for vignetting to get even skies in panorama (which turn out stunningly otherwise). There is no profile for the Nokia 808 PureView I am aware of and I'd like to produce one.
Is the Adobe profile creator able to correct for varying exposure using EXIF or overlapping parts of the chart or background?
Or would the Adobe profile creator ignore EXIF if I use studio flash to enforce a constant lightning situation, even if shutter speed would vary (aperture is constant and ISO can be set constant, just not the shutter speed)?
Or did Adobe produce a profile internally they can share?
    Thanks.

If you read the first post, this is the camera-app of a 41MP Nokia Pureview 808 camera-phone, so maybe someone could write a new camera app but the phone is Symbian OS which is dead, making that unlikely.

It would probably be easier for Adobe to rewrite the LPC to allow vignetting to be computed from a single shot of a blank wall without a target in the shot, than to have someone rewrite a camera app that allows manual exposure.
Another idea about how to get the phone to keep a constant exposure would be to experiment with putting darker and lighter objects in the field-of-view away from the target area to make the camera metering adjust things so it’s exposure is the same from one shot to the next.  This would take some doing but should work, unless the LPC uses the part of the frame that doesn’t contain the checkboard target in its computations.
You’re basically varying the scene around the target so the camera takes the same exposure of the target each time.

My Qosmio is an F10-124. It was running a fully updated version of XP MCE and had not been much trouble apart from a completely new motherboard etc under warranty! It also has 2gig memory and a 160gig HDD which for some reason now is only showing 127gig.
I purchased an upgrade WIN7 package a few weeks ago and installed it, and it runs fine, better I think than XP. Drivers took a while to update but it was plain sailing really.
However I had a niggling feeling that there might be a better BIOS by now. Toshiba's site told me the latest version for this machine is 1.40 whereas it already has version 2.0. I think the site just has no support for these re-boarded machines which have R at the end of the part number. This trips up Tempro until the R is removed. I have tried the only W7 32 BIOS I can find so far, version 2.20, but installation fails, so maybe it's best left alone for now.
Don't know if this is any more than academic but at least I have succeeded running W7. Now, Qosmio Player, that's another story.

  • Camera exposure correction defective for manual IS...

The photo camera exposure correction is defective for manual ISO setting in the N900 after updating the OS to PR1.2.
Link to the opened Bug (2010-05-28): https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10384
This feature is one of the main tools to use the excelent camera of the N900 to make good pictures. It is very important that this feature is working correctly again.
The bug apprears in the following test situation:
    - ISO-setting to ISO 100, 200 or 400 (not AutoISO).
    - Manual exposure correction to +0,5, +1,0, +1,5, +2,0 (overexpose) and -0,5, -1,0, -1,5, -2,0 (underexpose).
In this cases the picture turns to very dark (almost black) while it should be brighter regaring to the aimed overexposure or only slightly darker regaring to the aimed underexposure.
The bug is independend from other settings (flash, recording presets (portrait, landscape, night,…) or white balance.
The bug does not appear in video mode sinde there is no possibility to change the ISO settings to another value.
There is even a Youtube video showing this bug published by user ahtiven: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Da1nd_zgk4U
The summer is nearly over now and I am quite angry that there is no solution since this bug is now known since at least more than 2 months!
We all cannot use this good camera in my N900 to shoot good photos!
Currently automatic exposure is the only way to make photos which is not working well in many exposure cases!
It seems that nothing is going on in this case - there is no feedback and no workaround!
Please at least offer a package in the repositories to set the camera back to the last firmware status where this bug didn't appear! And please respond here to tell what is planned to solve the problem!

Today this bug was closed and marked as "WONTFIX"
The users originally could buy a device which had certain important capabilities in the camera interface's usability. Then Nokia did a mayor mistake in disabling this capabilities in one of the firmware updates (PR 1.2) since they programmed this severe bug which is causing this error in the functionality available before. They missed to fix this in the firmware upgrade to PR 1.3 and now they are obvoisely trying to sweep it under the carpet!
It is definately our right as customers to demand that the camera application remains at least in the functionality it had when we bought the device!
So a bugfix of this bug is mandatory!
In my opinion someone is in charge of repairing this which he has slipped up in PR 1.2. He didn't had the heart to reply yet (neither in the maemo bug website https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10384 nor in this discussion) and he is not doing his job's duty properly and in an professional way. Instead he is leaving the derangement, isn't it?
If the N900 would get a MeeGo upgrade from Nokia side it would be acceptable to solve this bug in MeeGo but since the Meamo is the official firmware dead end from Nokia side it is a scandal leave this bug unfixed !!!
The last thing we can do is to get more
user's feedback to nokia in this case:
    ==============================================
Please all readers support this posting with your comments
so we can get the responsibles to do this little but important
correction in the N900 camera application!

  • Add exposure info to ea shot in contact sheet

Is there a way in Bridge to add exposure info., I would like to add focal length, aperture, shutter speed, ISO and lens used,  below the image in a contact sheet, in addition to the image name, into a Bridge contact sheet? I see no way to do it now in Bridge. (Using Bridge CS5 and Photoshop CS5; presently using PhotoMechanic 4.6.5 for my contact sheets which does allow custom listing of exif info below images in contact sheets).
    Thanks for any help,
    Debra Gillilan

    What's odd is that
    File > Automation Tools...
    is GRAYED OUT,
    even though the folder
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 4.0\Plug-Ins\Automate
has several items in it (not just the one I just added).
    Any ideas?

  • How do I include camera settings info when exporting photos?

Hello! I am taking a photography class, and the instructor wants the camera settings (i.e shutter speed, aperture, ISO, lens, etc) to be included with the photos I send for my assignments. I see these setting when I click "info" in iPhoto, but do not know how to get those settings to export along with the photos so that he can see them. Who can help?

I believe the OP is trying to export those settings
I think so too, but even without any special export settings will the EXIF tags with the camera settings be included with any JPEG version. It is not necessary to include title and location. The JPEG will include the EXIF., as can be seen in Preview.
I thought s/he might want to send a pDF with the written values as well, just in case the instructor could not read the EXIF.

  • Best practice when camera exposure must be changed between each grab?

    Hi all,
I'm acquiring two images in fairly quick succession from a GigE camera. In an initialization state I use 'Open' then 'Configure Grab'. Then, in my acquire state I read in the exposure required via a property node and use a 'Grab'. Then I loop around and do a second 'Grab'. The first image has a long exposure, the second image needs a shorter exposure.
Mostly this works well but occasionally my second image is too bright (meaning the exposure is too long.) Is this a problem with how I'm acquiring the image? (Is 'Grab' the best vi to use?) Or, do I need to give the camera more time to make the change? (Add in a delay?)
    All thoughts must appreciated.

The problem is that you never really know when your new exposure is received and when it is applied.
Moreover when you call the grab, you do not really acquire an image (the acquisition process in your case seems to be continuous), you just read an image in the computer memory.
So your Grab/change exposure time/grab sequence does not include the "real" acquisition process (exposing the camera sensor to generate an image).
There are many possibilities, most of them require triggering. For most of them I would recommend the use the "low level" Vis instead the "Configure Grab/Grab" ones :
1-  For every image, stop acquisition, set exposure then start acquisition and get the image.
2- One technique you could try, is to use software trigger to control the image acquisition process :
        - configure the camera to trigger mode and Software trigger as the trigger source
        - for each image :
               - set the exposure time,
               - if needed, add a short delay
               - use a property node to generate a sw trigger
               - read the image.
3- Most of cameras include a pulse width trigger mode : the width of the exposure pulse defines the exposure time for the image. So, if you're able to generate a pulse train with alternate pulse widths (long pulse for the first image, short pulse for the second one), it is probably the most efficient way as you can use the camera at maximum frame rate if your trigger pulse train is well defined.
4- Some cameras have special features dedicated to the task you want to implement : for instance if you use a Sony camera, you may check if it includes a feature called bulk mode.
Photonfocus cameras have a powerful I/O controller that you can use to create sophisticated tasks. However, this will probably require a good understanding if the hardware and maybe some tricky programming.
    Hope this helps,

  • N8 camera exposure compensation

N8 exposure compensation is not working.
setting exposure to +2 and after taking the photo there is no difference...
    anyone has the same issue?

No, mine's working fine so there's something wrong with yours, have you installed the Anna Camera Update from Beta Labs?
If so try Restore Camera Settings option in Settings.
Next option, Battery Out reset (switch off then hold power button down for about 8 seconds until out vibrates).
Next option, try the Restore Factory Settings for the whole phone under phone management in Settings.
Last option, reinstall the Firmware using Nokia Suite or NSU then reinstall the Anna Camera Update.
If ail above fails take it to Nokia Care as if that's not working who knows what else is wrong.
Good luck because it really is a great Camera.

  • ISight camera exposure time control for astrophotography

Does anyone know of a way, or an application that allows you to control the shutter speed/exposure time when taking a photo with an external iSight camera?
I am trying to adapt an external iSight camera for astro-photography.  There are some excellent tutorials on how to remove the optics to expose the ccd, here.  However for certain imaging you need long exposure shots like one could achieve with a DSLR.  iGlasses is great for some control, but according to their customer support, does not allow control of the exposure time.
For other webcams there are suggested physical modifications including the use of a soldering iron!  I am hoping that someone will be able to point me in the direction of a more elegant software solution!  Most astronomy forum users recommend getting a netbook; I can't believe that this isn't something that a mac cannot do better!
Hope that some of you out there who know much more than I do can help out.
    Many thanks,
    Phil

Not for what you are trying to do.
I don't use anything like you seek, but http://www.outcastsoft.com/ASCASTROIIDC.html offers OS X software for compatible IIDC cameras (other than external iSight.)  According to their site:
... Apple's FireWire iSight will never be supported as it lacks IIDC modes we need and is not capable of doing extended CCD exposure times. ...
If that is accurate, your Mac/OS X choices include acquiring:
    (1) a supported IIDC camera,
    (2) a UVC webcam that can work with something like
         http://www.phoboslab.org/log/2009/07/uvc-camera-control-for-mac-os-x
    (3) or  a DSLR that offers Mac OS X compatible software for the features you need.
If none of those are acceptable within your needed timeframe, my only remaining suggestion would be to find software that does what you want and then buy whatever camera and computer is compatible with it.

  • Is it possible to change 'camera data' info?

I think I know the answer, but:
    I'm using a favourite 'framing template' in which I open a new image, copy and paste into the framing template which has had many automations run for watermark, signature, naming, etc., and then when I post to Flickr for instance;
It shows dates of Sept 2009 and using a Nikon D50--both of which are 'old news' now.
I did a 'File Info' investigation and the camera data looks like it cannot change and that's the metadata with the camera make and date, attached seemingly (and sensibly) to my framing template psd document.
Any way to change this or am I doomed to have to run scripts every time I wish to frame something and watermark, etc?
    Thanks!!!

A blunt method could be to create a identically sized new document in the same color space and shift-drag all Layers over and over-save the template file with that.
Any way to change this or am I doomed to have to run scripts every time I wish to frame something and watermark, etc?
    I don’t follow.
Scripting can make many complex operations (including watermarking, saving various downsized copies etc.) one-click tasks, so I don’t see that as a disadvantage in and of itself.

  • NI 1772 camera exposure time adjustment resolution

What is the exposure time adjustment resolution capability for the NI 1772 camera?  I'm getting only 10ms.  Can I get 5 or even 1ms resolution?

    Hi Rob,
I am unclear what the problem you are seeing is. Vision Builder AI does not appear to impose any restrictions on the granularity of the exposure time. You can put any value with precision down to sub-microsecond levels (no need to go by units of 10 microseconds).
As for the changes in intensity vs exposure time, keep in mind that image sensors and the hardware that reads them don't necessarilly behave linearly and so you may not see such a linear relationship in the data. While you said that you saw no change in intensity from 70us to 80us, were you looking at a single pixel or an average of the entire sensor? If you average it over the whole sensor I think you'll see the difference (although it might be small and less than a single count).

  • How to control camera exposure?

I'm using a PCI-1428 board, a Pulnix TM-1020 camera, am programming in VC++, and I have unclear about controlling the "shutter" time and the gain control.
First, it looks like gain is controlled by setting the white-level voltage. Is this correct?
Next, I do not see how to set the shutter time. Is there a camera or session attribute that I am overlooking?
A possibly related aside: I have noticed that the camera seems to occasionally use different exposure or gain settings from those set in MAX when my application starts.
Thank you in advance for any guidance you may have.
    Regards,
    Alan

    Dear Chris:
Thank you for your reply. I am able to implement the shutter and gain control as you indicate...and it has raised other questions.
It appears that the camera/board stops responding to the shutter/gain setting. This seems to happen after altering the settings a few (3-10) times. Altering the settings seems to occasionally halt the acquisition. Do you have any suggestions what the problem could be? It appears that the calls to SetCameraAttribute execute without errors.
I also find that I need to expose for longish periods--say 0.1 to 0.8 second. As this is longer than the available shutter times, how can I best do this?
Thank you again in advance for any help you may have.
    Regards,
    Alan

  • What's going on with the camera exposure in IOS 7 ?

In general I am extremely pleased with the new IOS update. I like the new fresh look and the nice organization. But what's up with the camera??? The colors used to be nice and nuetral and  WB very pleasing as well! Low light was also very well done. Now there is a yellow color cast indoors and the colors over saturated etc. Just bad in general. I have used my iphone to take 1000's of photo's and everything was just great in IOS 6. My teenage daughter complained about the same issue and in her words: "I am OK with the update just give me back my old iphone camera,! This new ione is horrible"
