Hi guys I am planning to upgrade to iphoto8
I have a sony cybershot DSC-W50 camera.

Macbook intel core Duo.
thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If it works with iPhoto 6 then it will with iPhoto 7.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Iphone 4s Camera issue with 8.0.2

After upgrading to 8.0.2 on our iphone 4S camera does not work.  When opening the camera app from the lock screen or after unlocking the phone the camera app sometimes comes on if on video if swiping to the still photo it then goes blurry.  Other times it is just plain black.  Tried other apps from the app store and none work.  IOS 8 worked just fine.  Anybody else having the same issue?  Only other thing I guess is to do factory reset but really don't want to if other owners having same issue maybe Apple will send out a new update.
    Thanks
    Jeff

I opened my Camera App after the iOS 8.0.2 upgrade, the camera would not work at all (no image (just blurred black), no response on snap shot button), the Flash options, HDR option, Timer options at the top of screen were opening for selections to be made. None of the bottom options work at all ( filter effects, camera mode selections, snap shot button, shortcut to picture gallery).  The front / back camera selector at top right does switch even though there is no image from either camera, you can tell it switches cause the top options go away when on front camera mode, also when I toggle between the front & back cameras 2 - 3 times, it locks up everything on screen that was working, leaving nothing be responsive at all. I was thinking why is this going on, surely my camera (both cameras) weren’t destroyed by the iOS 8 install, makes no since. Then I thought to look around in the apps on device, something that would access the camera without actually physically opening the camera app on device. I ran upon the Game Center App (pre-installed), there is an option there to add a photo to your Game Center ID, I clicked on that, and an option came up (select photo / take photo) I selected take photo, and There Was My Cameras, Working Great, Crystal Clear Image, front and back cameras working perfectly. So, that leads me to believe that it is Definitely an issue with the iOS 8 (a bug) that affects camera operation, at least on the 4S, better yet, my 4S. Apple Support has left me hangin as far as my issue goes. same goes with other issues I'm having as well.
( jpND01 ) try going into Game Center, and see if your camera has an image in that App. By no means is that a fix, it just lets you know that your cameras are working. There aren't any of the cool (New Camera App) features there, just snap a picture for Game Center Profile.
Note: I am a member of Game Center, the Add Photo to ID comes right up when you open the App, don't know if that option is there if a none member.

  • HELP!  Sony miniDVD camera issues with iMovie.

I have a Sony DVD403 connected to my iMac, trying to bring over movie files to iMovie via USB connection. Apparently Sony records in MPEG format, and I cannot get iMovie or QT Pro to "see" my files....SONY support is no help. Is this Sony camera not supported on Mac? Am I going to have to ditch this $$$ mini DVD camera and invest in a DV camera??? Any and all suggestions welcomed!
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

welcome busy to the  board...
that "miniDVDcamcorder not supported" is a well discussed issue here, just read a few pages, if you're not too busy doing so...
    a) iMovie is a video edit app meant to work with firewire connected miniDV camcorders
by concept, no word of DVD... mpeg2 is a delivery format, not meant for further processing...
    b) iM can control cameras just by firewire protocol, not usb
    c) you can import miniDVD content, but...
    d) don't insert miniDVD in slot-in drives => get an ext. dvd drive..
    e) dvd/mpeg2 needs conversion, choose....:
    * DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
    * Apple mpeg2 plugin (20$) + Streamclip (free)
    * Cinematize >60$
    * Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in
    * Toast6/7 allows converting to dv/import dvd, hit apple-k
Am I going to have to ditch this $$$ mini DVD camera and invest in a DV camera?
best practise, in case you want to use iMovie....
    helpful?

  • TS4552 Macbook Air Camera issues with Skype / Hangouts / Gotomeeting not recognizing built-in camera after OS X 10.8.5

    Hi,
Unfortunately the given answer in the support page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4552s is lame and unacceptable for us as new macbook air users.
Not only Skype does not recognize the camera. Google hangouts or gotomeeting applications don´t identify the built-in camera either.
We bought this machine to be always connected to our friends, family and co-workers, and the fact of not being able to take advantage to the most common video-calling apps is just dissapointing.
As a brand new mac user, I havent had the chance to back up the previous version of my system, and my mac distributor/seller doesnt accept any return/change because hardware is running fine with FaceTime...
Skype or Google say its an Apple issue... and Apple says its Microsoft or Google. Meanwhile we are having a lame experience as brand new mac users, and Apple should pay attention of that.
We hope Apple understands it needs to be fixed right away. We wait nothing but the best from Apple, so I really look forward to listen a prompt solution of this
    Thanks!

  • IPhone 4s having front camera issues with iOS 7.1.2 are there any fixes?

i started having some problems with the front facing camera as soon as i upgraded from iOS 7.1.1 to 7.1.2 the camera just freezes or turns black and i have to restart the phone in order to get it back working (at least the rear camera works when i do this) but as soon as i try and use the front camera it freezes again, is there any way to fix this?

To rule out a software issue, set it up as new device without using the latest backup. If the camera works after that, restore from the backup.
If it does not work, your phone might have a hardware problem and needs to be serviced:

  • Camera Issues with Pearl 8230

When I try to use the camera I get the message "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again". After updated the OS I still have the problem. Version 4.6.1.284 is installed. I searched the boards for any solutions but couldn't find any that will work.  Does anyone know of a fix to this? I'm starting to believe its a hardware issue and not software.

    Hello,
I think you can try two things : the soft reboot, and if it does not work, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can't lose data with these two reboots.
    Soft reboot :
    1) Hit the three following keys at the same time :
    - Alt
    - Right Shift
    - Delete
    2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.
    Hard reboot :
    1) your Blackberry device is on
    2) remove the battery and wait for a minute
    3) Put the battery back
    4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.
Please tell us if it works for you.

  • Camera issues with os maverics

my camera doesn't want to work when i use skype, or photo booth, or facetime, it will work for 1 minute and then turn off. it only started when i installed os maverics so what can i do?

    1) passive mode has to be disabled in the client
    (minor issue)
Most likely this is caused by the IP Firewall service being enabled on your Mac OS X Server (see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=ServerAdmin/10.4/en/c6fs18.html for more information). A workaround for this problem would be to create an address group containing the IP addresses of those clients needing FTP access then allowing all traffic for that address group.
    2) the client machine accessing the FTP server must
have its firewall off in order to access the FTP
server on OS X (have not seen this behaviour with
other ftp servers??). Spent hours trying to figure
out why my PB could not connect to the OS X Server,
turning off the firewall on my PB resolved. Also, you
can't access the ftp server if you are going via an
Airport base station, presumably because of the
firewall built into Airport. The person at the Apple
Store was very hepful and he suggested installing
vsftpd, but I would like to be able to use the built
in OS X FTP server. Does anyone know of a solution to
    this.......
I am thinking this relates to the relative insecurity of FTP, which uses clear text passwords, and the default configuration of the Mac OS X firewall. Knowledge-base Article 302831 (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302831) has more information on this issue, as well as some possible solutions.

  • Camera Raw with iPhoto8

Ok,I've imported my RAW files into iPhoto and made adjustments with Photoshop CS2 camera Raw. How come I don't see the adjustments in the iPhoto Program? And where are the jpgs? Do they have to be imported to be seen?
    Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
The only way to successfully edit iPhoto photos with PS is to set it as the external editor for iPhoto (iPhoto menu ==> preferences ==> "edit photo in" set to external editor and point to PS), edit and then save (not save as) your photos - this will update the iPhoto database files and show your edits in iPhoto

  • Bizarre camera issue with i4S and neon signs

Called Apple yesterday...the rep had NEVER heard anything like this, but here goes:
When going to take pictures close to a neon sign, there is a strange linear feedback which appears.  Vertical lines that fade the further I get from the sign. This happens most of the time I try to get a shot of the intense colors of the sign.  Another wrinkle: this phenomenon is accompanied by erratic camera behavior like spontaneous enlargement of the image, and inability to focus/expose.  Sample below.

Can someone be a dear and try to replicate this?  My friend's i4S did exactly the same thing.  My 3GS didn't have this problem.  Any ideas/workarounds?

  • Camera issue with 520

My camera swap icon is not working. When i tap on the camera icon on the screen to change from video mode to picture mode, it starts recording and when i click again it stops instead of changing the mode. I own a 520. Camera works fine using the lenses, its only when i try using it by pressing the hard key that this happens. Can someone help please?

    Hi Ophelia_444,
    Welcome to the forum!
When did it start? Let's try to reboot your phone first by pressing and holding the power and volume down keys until it vibrates. If it's still not fix, you can reset the camera settings by:
Settings > Swipe left, Applications > Photos+camera > Reset camera
Always make sure that your phone is updated to the latest software.

  • Issue with camera it says "there is no connected camera" in may macbook pro

issue with camera it says "there is no connected camera" in may macbook pro

I got that error from PhotoBooth, no connected camera.
After messing around with all the usual suggestions (reset PRAM, repair permissions, etc.), I tried plugging in an external USB camera (happened to be a ProScope) and - for no apparent reason - the internal iSight camera sprang to life and has been working fine ever since.
Worth a try - any USB camera should do it.

  • MacBook Air 2013 with Mavericks 10.9.1 has Facetime HD Camera issues

Hi, I've been using a new 2013 MacBook Air with 10.9.1 for the last 3 weeks (I used to have a 2010 Macbook Pro 15 with Mavericks) and the Facetime HD camera is having issues being detected by different applications.
In my case I mainly use Google Hangouts, Skype, and sometimes Facetime. The problem lies on that the camera sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't.
I usually reboot the camera with 'sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant' and that makes it work, but it shouldn't be like that.
Please note that this was not happening with my 2010 MacBook Pro with Mavericks. I changed to this new 2013 MacBook Air only 3 weeks ago. Nevertheless, people that I work with (who use retina macbooks with Mavericks) are not having this issue.
Last week I had to install a plugin (in chrome) for a new online site similar to Hangouts called BlueJeans. Bluejeans very seldomly recognizes the cam, only when I reboot it with the 'line' above or reboot the machine. The people I work with didn't have any issues, so I suspect this has to do with 2013 MacBook Air's Facetime HD cameras which might be different to the rest, or too new on the market.
It's as if when I start using it in Hangouts and then hang, later it might not work in Skype, or viceversa.
If you can help, that'll be great, and I appreciate it. Nevertheless, I feel Apple must take care of this in the next Mavericks update (many people are having camera issues).

    Hi Jal1980
    I had the same pb...
On my MacBook Pro Mid 2012 I Had a problem with my video on skype, facetime, photoboot....
I have tried all the solution offered in every forum and never got to a satisfying result. I downgraded to mountain lion from mavericK without result. I reseted the Pram or SMC (I forgot), and other things, I played with the plugin /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/, I tried several version of skype.... NONE of this solution worked....
Until that day a friend came to my place and installed AppleJack for Mac, a free software (http://download.cnet.com/AppleJack/3000-2094_4-40293.html) that totally solved this issue amongst others...
Here is the full page of the program http://applejack.sourceforge.net/man.html
And here quick instructions on how to use the program. Have fun!
Restart your computer. After you hear the startup chime, press and hold down the
Cmd and s keys together (this will put you in single user mode). You should soon get a Terminal-type screen with a dramatic garble of indecipherable messages and a shell prompt that looks something like [root#]
    2. Now, type applejack at the prompt. (If you’ve installed applejack manually, or have not created an alias to applejack for the root user, you may have to enter the full path to the script at the prompt.) You will be guided through a series of steps that will repair your drive and delete possibly corrupted files. Options are selected by typing the number corresponding to the task you want to perform, and then hitting the return key. For example, when you see a few different options, like this:
[1] Option One [2] Do something else [3] Another task [4] A useful task
From time to time, in interactive mode, you will be asked to answer yes or no to a question. To answer yes, type y and hit the return key. To answer no, type n and hit the return key.
An advantage of using the interactive mode instead of auto mode is that you are given options for also cleaning out user-level caches and preference files. If you would like to clean out your main admin user caches, for example, you will need to use interactive mode.
    3. Auto mode: If you want to leave
applejack to do it’s own thing, just choose option [a] when the script starts. You can also start right up in auto mode by typing: applejack auto at the prompt. applejack will run through all the basic cleanup tasks in order. Alternatively, you can also type applejack auto restart which will tell applejack to do the cleanup tasks and then automatically restart your computer. Other options are: applejack auto shutdown which tells AppleJack to shut down the computer after running its tasks, or applejack AUTO shutdown which tells AppleJack to run automatically in "deep cleaning" mode (see above) and then shut down.
I hope this helps. It completely solved my issue.
