Camera Raw version compatible with LR 2.5 & PS CS3

I had these two programs working happily, then earlier this year I upgraded Camera Raw to allow me to open some Canon 5D MII files in LR.  Now when I try to send a photo from LR to Photoshop (edit in Photoshop CS3), I get error dialogs.  (The messages vary depending on if I'm trying to open 1 file, several files, do a merge in HDR, do a merge to Panorama).  I believe these error messages stem from CS3 not working with the version of Camera Raw.  So I need to downgrade to an earlier version, right?  What is the msot recent version that will work nicely with both of these programs?
(Upgrading Photoshop to CS4 is not an option.  Some of us can't afford to upgrade very single time they come out with a new version, especially when we already paid $$$ for the CS3 suite.  This is not a very user friendly business model.)

I'm seeing the same problems and believe that there is more to it than the version of Camera Raw - as I am using ACR 4.6 in CS3 which is the recommended version.

  • Camera Raw updates compatible with Snow Leopard

Apple keeps releasing Camera Raw updates that are only compatible with Lion or above.  Has anyone heard why they don't seem to support Snow Leopard? There are many of us that don't want to upgrade beyond Snow Leopard for other legacy software reasons.
Come on, Apple.  Give us an update!
    Carroll Lam

You can send feedback to Apple:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
We, of course, are just users and have no real knowledge of this.
If you are cynical, you can say that Apple does it to force you to upgrade.
Someone non-cynical would say that it is Apple policy to not support OS's two revisions back.
It could also be that there have been improvements in the RAW decode engine that aren't available in OS 10.6.8.

  • My student has been using Lightroom 4 with Photoshop CS5 on her Mac for well over a year. Because of the difference between the Camera raw version available to her in Photoshop CS5 and the raw process in Lightroom 4, she has been exporting her raw images

    Any ideas?

My student has been using Lightroom 4 with Photoshop CS5 on her Mac for well over a year. Because of the difference between the Camera raw version available to her in Photoshop CS5 and the raw process in Lightroom 4, she has been exporting her raw images from Lightroom and choosing the "Render using Lightroom option when it popped up in the dialogue box. She has been doing this for over a year and a half without any problem. Today when she hit Command E no dialogue box appeared and the image just opened in Photoshop. I'm concerned that all of her Lightroom edits are not being rendered to Photoshop. Anyone have an idea as to how we can get the "Render using Lightroom" dialogue back?

  • Which version of camera raw will work with elements 9 and a Nikon D5100? How do I download photos to it?

I have Photoshop Elements 9 and use a Nikon D5100.  I have downloaded camera raw 6.5 but cannot download photos to it.  Does camera raw start automatically or do I have to manual start it?

    That did I, thanks.

  • Camera Raw not working with Photoshop and Bridge CS6

    Hi guys,
Had a hard-drive meltdown the other week and lost everything. I have re-downloaded and installed most of my important software, including the CS6 suite. I used to use camera raw alot with my .CR2 files and it worked fine for ages, now though, it doesn't work at all.
I have run an update and everything is up to date now, i've purged the cache and it's still not working, no preview on bridge or anything.
I have also tried going through the Camera raw updates on the Adobe website. I have tried deleting the plug in and redownloading it altogether too, no help.
Furthermore, when i try to open a .CR2 file through bridge into photoshop i get a message window:
    My Camera Raw Version:
    My photoshop version:
No preview of files in Bridge:
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Benjamin,

I just downloaded and installed Photoshop cc and the Camera Raw version is not the latest one available,so now I can no longer open files from my Nikon D750!  Can I update ACR?
I have been using the new version of ACR with PS6 and have been able to open the D750 files, now I'm stuck.
    Thanks,

You were probably using the Release Candidate version of camera raw 8.7, which one gets from Adobe Labs.

  • Camera Raw Chroma Smearing with Fujifilm X Series

I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS6 with an up-to-date Camera Raw version 7.3 to process raw files from my Fujifilm X-E1. As widely reported, ACR introduces obvious chroma smearing into the images that other software (SilkyPix, in-camera processing, iOS PhotoRaw) have no problems with. The workflow for PS CS6 is great, but ACR's buggy demosaicing algorithm continues to be a real problem with the latest version of ACR. Aside from using SilkyPix or other, does anyone know of any near term fixes for this problem until Adobe gets their act together on demosaicing Fuji's X-Trans sensor?
Our eyeballs all have rods and cones that are irregularly spaced and sparse, and we all can see just fine without a Bayer array in our eyeballs, so there's no fundamental reason why Adobe won't be able to fix this issue with X-Trans demosaicing. I just hope they get on the case with a fix for the next version of ACR.
Here's an example that anyone can recreate: ACR's chroma smearing is especially a problem for any text that appears in the image. The numbers on the boats below show chroma smearing when processed using ACR, but not with SilkyPix or other software. It's also possible to see the same problem using dpreview's studio comparison tool. The lens is a 35 mm f1.4 so this smearing at the image center certainly isn't any chromatic abberation from the lens.
    Original image (35 mm f1.4):

ACR (version 7.3) versus SilkyPix (version shipped with Fuji cameras):

As you say it’s been “widely reported” and Adobe knows about it.

  • Camera Raw Version in PS elements 13

What Camera Raw version (not Process Version but e.g.8.3) comes with PS Elements 13?

Camera raw 8.6 which uses process version 2012

  • Photoshop Camera Raw Version to Process Nikon 1AW1 NEF Files

I am currently running Photoshop CS6 for Macintosh version 13.0.4 and Camera RAW version 7.4.0.137 and cannot process the raw (NEF) files produced by the new Nikon 1AW1 camera.  I have shot test photos with the camera prior to purchase, but can't process the NEF files.  Does a Camera Raw plug-in that will work with this camera exist?  If not, when will the appropriate plug-in be available?

The Nikon 1 AW1 is not yet supported by Adobe Camera Raw (ACR).
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Adobe never comments on future camera support in ACR but ACR is updated every few months as new cameras come on to the market.
You'll have to use the import software provided by Nikon for now.

  • Camera Raw Versions and PSE Versions

On my Windows 7 PC, I have installed (and have a license for) among other both PSE V10 and PSE V12.  On my PC, when editing a Nikon NEF File, PSE V10 uses Camera Raw 6.4.1 and PSE V12 uses Camera Raw 8.2.
Since on my C Disk I see only one copy of a Folder named "NIKON D5000" (this folder is in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\Camera Profiles\Camera ), I have the impression that both the versions 6.4.1 and the Version 8.2 of Camera RAW share the identical Camera Profiles.   Is that impression/guess correct?
Question 1: Can I conclude, that (since both Camera Raw Version share the same Camera Profile folders), if I will buy a Nikon D5300 (which officially gets supported only by Camera Raw 8.n (n being probably equal or higher than 3)), that once  Camera Raw 8.n (n=> 3) will be installed on my PC (because this will be the Camera Raw Version supported/used by PSE V12), I will  be able to process my future D5300 Nef Files both with the combination of PSE V10 and Camera Raw 6.4.1 and the combination of PSE V12 and Camera Raw 8.n (even though officially, Camera RAW 6.4.1 does not support the D5300)? Thank You very much in advance for your answer.
Question 2: Can somebody point me to a downloadable  NEF file shot by the Nikon D7100?
I will then download that NEF file and see whether I can process it with the combination of PSE V10 and Camera Raw 6.4.1. This will allow me to verify the answer to question 1. Thank You very much in advance for your answer

Since I am probably not the only one on these forums who do not understand well (or who is/was not even aware of) the Adobe DNG converter,  I would like to add the following:
Yes, 99jon is totally correct: a NEF File from the Nikon D7100 will not open with PSE V10 and with ACR6.4.
...But: a couple of days ago, I realized that I could use the latest versions of the free downloadable Adobe DNG Converter (which supports among other Nikon D7100 NEF and the RAW Files of most modern cameras) to convert the D7100 .NEF files into DNG Files. To perform such a conversion, I started the DNG Converter, identified the windows folder containg the NIKON D7100 NEF Files, provided a couple of options and then let the DNG Converter convert the NIKON D7100  NEF Files into .dng files.
Once done, I imported the .dng files into PSE V10,...and could edit them without problems with the combination of PSE V10 and ACR 6.4. Even if I am not a specialist and might be wrong: I did not came across any limitation for the ACR editing of the NIKON D7100 .dng files that was problematic for my purposes (ACR even supported multiple "Camera Profiles" for the D7100!). I am more than happy!
To summarize: if making a small détour via the DNG Converter,  it becomes possible to edit with the combination of old PSE Versions and old ACR Versions the "DNG versions" of RAW Files shot with new cameras (like for example the NIKON D7100)..

  • Can PSE 12 open and process Camera Raw pictures taken with Canon GIX Mk. 2 camera?

I have bought a new Canon GI X Mk. 2 camera. I consider to update my Photoshop Elements 9 to new the newest 12 version, but I will only do that if the PSE 12 can manage Camera Raw pictures taken with my new camera. Can anyone help?

Yes, but you will have to install the Camera Raw 8.5 or later update. Go to Help > Updates to start the update process. You can verify what version of Camera Raw you have installed by going to Help (Win) or Photoshop Elements (Mac) > About Plug-in > Camera Raw.

  • Is camera raw filter available with LR 3 or CS5?

Is camera raw filter available with LR 3 or CS5?

There has been a Camera Raw plug-in for Photoshop for many versions by now.
There is a new Camera Raw filter in PS CC—something that allows you to use the camera raw plug-in as a smart filter for a layer.
The Develop panel in Lightroom has the same adjustments as the Camera Raw plug-in for PS.
So depending on what you mean by “Camera Raw Filter” the answer is either LR3-No, CS5-No for the filter in PS-CC, or LR3-Yes, CS5-Yes if you mean the CR functionality.
