Can anybody recommend a wireless printer that will work with my newly purchased Macbook - and isn't a pain to set up!

I'm a new Macbook user and would like to buy a wireless printer that is entirely compatible and will be relatively easy to set up.  Anybody recommend one please?

Any printer that visibly supports OS X will work fine. My personal recommendation is Brother, followed rather distantly by Canon.
Recently I have grown to favor Brother printers over the others. They are inexpensive, their OS X integration is well-implemented, their consumables are reasonably priced, and their technical support is free forever. If you need to call them and explain that you have a Mac, you will immediately receive competent assistance.
The third and subsequent choices are so far down from those two they're not worth mentioning. I have grown to dislike HP printers, for all the above reasons.
Read user reviews from vendor websites - Amazon is a good place to start, since Amazon lets people write almost anything they want... right, wrong, or completely idiotic.
Read the reviews on the respective manufacturers' websites as well, but consider the likelihood of them deleting negative reviews.
Process all those user reviews employing your own common sense, and draw your own conclusions.
Consider AirPrint compatibility for future needs. Those features add very little to the price over a USB - only or wireless printer. Understand that not all wireless printers are AirPrint compatible - AirPrint must be specifically indicated. Choose among this list: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
After OS X compatibility, the next consideration should be the cost of consumables. Laser printers are cheaper than inkjets in that regard.
Here is a list of AirPrint compatible Brother printers and multifunction devices

Any reliable brand that claims Mac compatibility.
Different wireless cams (wi-fi versus BlueTooth) may work better for different purposes, so ask your retailer for one that best does what you want to do with it.  For some examples of all kinds and types, click the link at the end of this sentence to see results of this search for your posted question.

  • Looking for a WiFi printer that will work with my Nexus WiFi hotspot

On a recommendation, we have bought an Epson NX530 WiFi-enabled printer.  It does not work with the WiFi hotspot feature of my Galaxy Nexus.  The support tech at Epson suggested that we get a WiFi router rather than trying to use the Galaxy Nexus.  I told her that I would rather trash the NX530 and get a printer that would work with my phone.
    So we have 3 questions:
    1) does anyone know how to make an Epson NX530 work via the Galaxy Nexus hotspot?
    2) does anyone know of a different WiFi enabled printer that works with the Galaxy Nexus?
    3) does anyone know if the Galaxy Nexus is inherently unable to work with any WiFi printer?
    Thanks,
    Craig

This website should be able to assist you.  http://www.galaxynexusforum.com/forum/galaxy-nexus-help/8520-wifi-printing.html   I use an app called Printhand from the Google Play Store for my Android tablet and smart phones. I have a Canon  Pixima 3220 that functions great. I also have a higher end HP Envy D410a that also works great with printhand.  The Canon is cheap at BJ's at $40 when I bought it. The HP is about $269 at Staples and other outlets.  Good Luck

  • I have an old MAC using OS 10.5 (does not have Intel processor). I need a new printer, but i cannot find one that will work with such an old operating system. Is there a new printer that will work with this old system?

I have an old IMAC using 10.5, and it cannot use any newer operating system. I need a new printer, but I cannot find one that is compatible with this old system.
Is there a new printer out there that will work with 10.5?

Canon Pixma iP4950 works great with my PPC G5 iMac on Leopard. Maybe other of their models do as well.

Is there an external hard disc that will work with both Mac (OS10.4.11) and Windows (Vista)?

For NTFS on Mac, there are both open-source and commercial solutions. See:

For HFS+ Drivers for Windows, there is only one:

  • HP photo printer that will work with a separate HP scanner

I need to replace an old HP printer that doesn't have Full Function capabilities with Windows 7.  HP Tech Support told me they DO NOT recommend using more than one scanner per computer, so told me not to buy an All-in-One printer to use with my HP ScanJet G4050 scanner.  Possible software issues in the future.
Problem:  I'm having a difficult time finding a single function inkjet printer that will print quality photos and has photo black ink.  It must be fully compatible with Windows 7 & 8.  This has become a nightmare as it's nearly impossible to find a newer single function printer that does high quality photos.  HP seems to focus on the all-in-ones that don't have the capabilities of the older Photosmarts.  Such as separate photo tray, photo ink, gray ink, etc.
I currently have a Photosmart 8150 printer that does a great job on photos and has photo black as well as gray ink for printing color and black and white photos.  You can't find a comparable printer like that anymore!  HP needs to realize that there are a lot of customers out there looking for a good quality photo printer like their old Photosmarts of 10 years ago.  HP needs to pay attention to their customers and provide support for their older photo printers AND manufacture printers with the same functions as their older models!
Suggestions on new photo printers would be appreciated.  Thank you!

    Yes.

Any of the ones listed there should work.

  • Is there ANY wireless mouse that will work with the iPad 2 and Apple's Wireless Keyboard?

I have the iPad 2 and Apple's Wireless Keyboard and would like to purchase a wireless mouse that will accommodate my Apple products. I do understand that Apple's Magic Mouse is not compatible with the iPad 2, but would like to hear if there is any possibility that i could use a wireless mouse with my iPad.
      Thanks :)

You don't have to purchase a mouse. You already have one, it's wireless and the only one that will work on an iPad.

  • Can anyone recommend a solid, cheap mono laser printer that will work with Mac OS X?

I'm currently looking for a cheap, no-frills printer. So far, most are incompatible with Mac OS X or are too expensive to buy and run.
    Does anybody have any recommendations?
    Thanks!

I've been interested in this for some time and it all seems rather difficult. I had a Samsung ML-1610 mono laser before I bought my iMac three years ago. It worked fine with a Windows 98 laptop and was cheap and I think a bit of an out of date model then. When I bought the Mac one thing that worried me was - would the printer work? Discovered ML-1610 is not Mac compatible at all (officially). Searching for some time found various suggestions to make it work. The simplest was to download driver for ML-1710 and yes it DID work and still does. I even bought a replacement toner cartridge. Samsung mono laser printers are very good value but seem to be NOT very Mac friendly, even the models that are Mac compatible. It is too risky to get involved with models that are not on the Mac drivers list. Also not too happy about models that have Gutenprint or CUPS drivers. Yes, I believe Brother is quite Mac friendly, don't know how cheap. Mac showrooms don't have cheap mono laser printers, the style just isn't right, but they are great. I would never go back to an inkjet.

  • Need suggestions for photo printer that will work with a dedicated HP G4050 scanner on Windows 7

I was told by HP Tech Support that they didn't recommend I try to run an all-in-one printer and a dedicated scanner on the same PC.  Dilemma is that most photo printers sold today are also all-in-ones.   Also, many all-in-ones don't seem to rate very high on photo quality.   Do I end up buying two printers - one for text and another for photos or what?
Your input is welcome as I've researched this problem for a long time and don't know what printer to buy!  Thank you.

Yes, I do know that; but the basic driver doesn't allow all of the menu options on the printer to work.  For instance, it won't tell me how much ink is left in each cartridge, etc.
I'm debating whether to just keep my old Photosmart 8150 and keep plugging along until it dies and then worry about replacing it OR keep looking for a new one.
Problem is that HP Tech Support told me that they DON'T recommend I use an all-in-one printer AND a dedicated scanner together due to possible software issues.  Since most of the photo printers made this year seem to be AIO's it's been a very difficult experience finding an older printer that has a Full Solution Driver in WIN 7 and/or 8!  Oh, you can find some but they cost an arm and a leg even at used prices!
Anyone with experience using an HP dedicated scanner AND a printer is welcome to jump in and give me some feedback. Thank you so much!  : )

I think your £1200 is about $2000 US dollars... which is just barely going to build a computer to work "fairly quickly" with HD video

  • Windows 10: I can't find a audio driver that will work with my HP Touchsmart 520.

I am beta-testing Windows 10; It handles many HP Touchsmart operations well; but it can't find a driver for audio. I have tried many download sites; and Windows Update (which apparently does have some problems as well) and have been unsuccessful in a two-week search.
I'd appreciate any tips, or direction on how to resolve the problem.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I think many hardware vendors are working with Microsoft to get a good out come for all and specially for customers. Users don't want a product like Windows 8 or Vista, they want a rpoduct like Windows XP or Windows 7. Windows 8.1 (not 8) is much better but many users are still don't like it therefore from my opinion: Microsoft have to do something about that.
Back to drivers, as mentioned above, vendors are testing. We can raise our voices but still have to wait.
    Regards.

  • Is there any driver for an HP Laserjet 5000 printer that will work with OS 10.10.2?

I have an older laserjet printer and since updating to OS 10.10.2 I cannot print. I have been on with HP, and they no longer support this printer, and the latest driver is compatible with OS 10.6. Does anyone know a way to get around this? I really cannot go out and buy another printer, this one is great.
    Thanks

Mention you're using a Mac and HP will give up pretty easily. It doesn't matter whether the printer is new or old.
Since the driver you have been using no longer works, did you try OS X's generic PostScript printer driver?
I agree old HP printers are built well and last forever, and no one likes keeping perfectly good printers in service more than I do, but are you absolutely certain a new printer is out of the question? Faster and much more capable laser printers than the LaserJet 5000 are readily available today for less than $100. HP doesn't make them.
Even finding a replacement your toner cartridge for yours must be getting difficult. The street price for that toner cartridge is about $150. HP's list price is well over $200.
