Can anybody share printer connected to mac running 10.3.9?

I used to print wireless using printer hsaring all the time from my ibook running 10.3.9 to my emac running 10.3.9 with a canon ink jet printer plugged into it. I just realized I can't print from my new macbook to my emac. The printer doesn't show up. Has anybody got this to work? I found a few threads with people have problems printer sharing with computers not running leopard.

  • How Can I Share Printer with 2 Older Macs?

I would appreciate detailed guidance on how to set up printer sharing for two older Macs - assuming that this is even possible in this case. I have the following Macs that work very well independently as well as through a router for internet access.
    1. MacMini, 1.5 GHz, Bluetooth+Airport Extreme (approx. 3 yrs old) running OS X 10.5.2 and using Airport for internet access.
    2. Power Mac G4, 466 MHz (approx. 7 yrs old) running OS X 10.3.9 and connected directly to the router for internet access.
An HP Deskjet 5940 printer was used exclusively with the MacMini, and a Lexmarl Z53 was used exclusively with the G4. The Z53 just reached the end of its life, and thus I disconnected the 5940 from the MacMini and connected it to the G4 where it now works fine.
In spite of all attempts with various settings at each Mac, I have not been able to get any printing done from the MacMini. What detailed settings/connections do I need to make so that I can use that 5940 printer from the MacMini?
    Thanks for your response.

  • Can I connect a Mac running Snow Leopard to Windows Small Business Server

I'm running the OSX 10.6.8 and want to connect to applications running on Windows Small Business Server 2008.  Is this easy or difficult or impossible?

Most Applications intended to run in that fashion would provide a Mac client, a Windows client and a Server component, designed to interact and keep a Master database on the Server up-to-date. Custom database software could also be written for that environment. Perehaps there are options for your package to be used in that fashion, but it would have to be designed-in from the beginning.
A web Application could also run in that fashion, with only a Web Browser on each computer interfacing to the Server software, which would keep the Master database and allow multiple access over your local Network.

  • Share printer connected to apple to windows xp

I'd like to share my HP printer that is connected to my apple computer(10.4.2) to my pc that is running windows xp. I have enabled printer sharing and windows sharing in my apple.
The instruction that I get from apple web:
To print to your printer using SMB/CIFS, Windows users must configure an SMB/CIFS network printer and use the Postscript printer driver, even if the printer isn't a Postscript printer. Your Mac will translate the Postscript code into code the printer can understand. Have the Windows users see their Windows documentation for information on adding a network printer.
Can someone translate that to plain english for me?
    thanks a bunch!
You need to use a postscript driver on Windows so that you send postscript to the Mac printer queue - this is what mac printer queues expect, because all print commands on the Mac produce postscript.

  • Fusion 4.1.2.  After install can no longer print on the Mac side.

    Version:1.0 StartHTML:0000000167 EndHTML:0000003793 StartFragment:0000000475 EndFragment:0000003777
I'm using a MacBook Pro running OSX SL at the most current level.
I upgraded from Fusion 3 to Fusion 4 (uninstalled 3 first then installed 4) after which I did the update to Fusion 4.1.2 which appeared to run fine.
Being I'm new to the Mac I installed Fusion because I need Windows-XP.
Prior to the installation of Fusion I spent 2 weeks trying to get my printers working just on the Mac side without Fusion.  I'm using an HP Deskjet 5850 (5800 series) printer which worked just fine.  The printer is an IP printer at IP address and can be pinged from both the Mac side and the Windows-XP side. Before Fusion there wasn't any issue printing on the Mac side.
After Fusion installation I didn't have any issues printing on the Windows side.
Now with Fusion installed I can still print on the Windows side but not on the Mac side.
All settings are as normal with printer sharing.
When trying to print on the Mac side I see the printer queue for the HP pop up and it says 'waiting to connect' to
I tried a dozen different settings non of which worked.
I switched from a NAT connection to a Bridged connection for Windows but still the same result, no printing from the Mac side.
Is there a problem with this release of fusion or is it somewhere in my system settings?
    Any help will be appreciated.

  • IMac can't see printer connected to Windows 7 PC via USB

    Hi all,
I have a mixed PC/Mac (Snow Leopard & Leopard) network and a Canon PIXMA MP780 printer connected to a PC running Windows 7. Last week, when this printer had XP on it, I could print. Since "upgrading" to Windows 7, the Macs can no longer see the PCs on the network. Clearly this is a Windows issue but I opened a support ticket with Microsoft and was told it is a Mac issue. (SOP for Microsoft) I'm hoping one of you has figured out how to get your Windows 7 PCs and Macs talking to each other. I can't manually add the printer to the Macs (can't even see the PCs) so we are dragging a USB around the office until we get it working. Fun all around.
    Thanks, Denise

My best recommendation for the last 4 or 5 years has to been to only buy network (ethernet) printers. There are many available for under $100. Why put yourself and your office through constant changes caused by upgrading or changing computers? If the printer manufacturer makes drivers for your printer for the OS you want to use, then you're done.
This way, all of your OS's work with the printer in their own way, without having to make considerations for bugs or new services, or changes in the way the OS works on a particular computer. Also, if a computer dies, it doesn't take down your shared printer with it. The other computers don't have to even be turned on for you to print.

  • Problems printing to shared printer connected to Mac from XP Machine

I have been trying to get printer sharing set up so that a Windows XP laptop can print to the HP LaserJet 3030 connected to an old iMac running 10.4.4. I have installed bonjour for Windows on the XP machine and can successfully run the Bonjour Printer Wizard. When I go to print to the printer though it the print button is greyed out and Windows says "Before you can print, you need to select a printer." I have tried the HP 3030 PCL 6 driver as well as a Generic postscript, no luck either way. Any ideas?

I resently purchase the Laserjet 3030. I haven't been able to print consistently, sometimes it prints, sometimes it doesn't connect to the computer. I understand that you have this printer connected to a Mac. Could you tell me how you did it? Which driver you are you using?
Additionally, I haven'e been able to use the scanner at all. I found on the internet that the scanner is not compatible with Mac. Are you using the scanner?
    I have an old eMac G4 800Mhz running Mac os X 10.4.6

  • Can't make printer connection

Lost my printer connection about 10/25. Was able to get going by zapping pram and doing a disk repair. However the problem re appeared in 24 hrs. Now I find it all started with MOZY - which I have. They gave me a "fix" which included an uninstall of the present MOZY. Problem is I can't uninstall it because it won't accept my password ( administrative) - so I changed the password and I still can't get Mozy uninstalled. Believe me ,if I ever do get it uninstalled, I'll be very hesitant to reinstall Mozy - I'll find another one. So can you suggest a way to do an uninstall ?? Thanks - you folks are always a big help -- Monty Small

Monty, as a workaround I understand if you Repair Permissions with Disk Utility you'll be able to Print until the next time Mozy tries to Backup, can you disable Mozy's auto backup btw?
On removeing it, Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • After update to Snow Leopard, I can no longer print from my Mac Book using my HP D110 but can still print from the web

    Hello -
Earlier this week, I updated my Mac Book to Snow Leopard and am now having printing problems. I have an HP Photosmart D110. I have downloaded and installed the driver update. I have deleted and re-installed the printer. I have run the wireless network test (everything passed). I configured th settings on the HP EPrint website. I have shut down and re-started the computer several times. I checked for software updates.
The printer is *recognized* on the Mac Book, iPhone and the iPad. It shows up under the SysPref menu. I have been able to print coupons from the app using the iPhone and iPad, but I can't print from the computer itself. The printer icon opens and it indicates the document was sent but nothing comes out. I'm not sure what I'm missing?!
Also try powering the printer off for about 10 minutes.
