Can anyone recommend a good Mac Calendar, Contact program for the iPhone

Can anyone recommend a good Mac Calendar, Contact program for the iPhone. The one intalled is hopelessly inadequate and inefficient. 2 Main problems- The current iCal + Contacts programs do not link to each other. And there is no To Do List!
Palm and MS Outlook had those features 6 years ago! Whats up with Apple?!!

ical does have a to do list in it. either click the little pin under the calendar, or click show to do list in the view menu.
i don't know much purpose behind needing to link ical and address book (not that i'm saying it isn't important at all - you obviously have some type of need for it). but it's got to be possible somehow, because you can set ical to make a calendar of birthdays from your address book contacts (in the main preference pane for the application).
plus, i doubt there'd be another mac calendar application you'd be able to sync with your iphone, unless whoever developed it developed an iphone app to sync it with. probably wouldn't sync with your contacts/calendar apps that come with the iphone.

  • Can anyone recommend some good handlebar or bike mounts for the iphone 6?

I'm looking for an iPhone 6 mount that does not cover my screen and will be stable for long rides. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I would have to recommend the Tackform Freedom Bike Mount. It has an adjustable grip so you can customize the tension on your phone. It also gives you full access to your speakers and ports, etc. Works with any handlebar. ( It comes with a few rubber strips to custom fit to the bar size. Ultra Light design. It also comes with this rubber safety sling that grips the corners of the phone to provide additional stability. I originally got it to us the MapMyRide app and I've put about 2,000 miles on my bike so far and haven't found any issues.

  • Can anyone recommend any good books on leaning actionscript for flash?

Can anyone recommend any good books on leaning actionscript
    for flash?
    Intermediate level
I have been using flash for about 2 years more as a hobby
than anything else, some websites etc but now I realise I am going
to need to learn more actionscripting to do what I want, I have
come to terms with the simple stuff like goto – basic
variables – load mov – enough to programme up website
    navigation.
I ideally want to learn more about the dynamic side of flash,
mostly for designing user interfaces and websites etc
I’m after a book that doesn’t get too heavy too
fast yet I’m a little past the more basic functions
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers

  • Can anyone recommend a car charger and FM transmitter for my iphone 4s?

I recently purchased one from eBay but it didn't charge my iPhone 4s - it said - charging is not supported with this accessory.
Can anyone reccomend a charger and FM transmitter that doesn't cost the earth??
My only other slight problem is that my cigarette lighter is behind the handbrake so I need one that has a lead coming out of it rather have one that that is directly attatched to the cigarette lighter if you know what I mean!!!
    Thanks in advance!!!

I was considering the same thing.  And, although I don't have a suggested product for you, I do have a suggestion...  I'm not going to buy a charger / FM Transmitter becasue it will cost me the better part of $100 and it will still not sound very good.  Instead, I'm saving up for a new head unit for my car that will support my iPhone via USB, allow me to connect to my car stereo via bluetooth for calls, and allow me to control my music via the head unit instead of the phone.  A little more cost but for much greater functionality.

  • Can anyone recommend a good phishing extension that works on the macintosh version of firefox?

I'm working with an older lady who keeps giving up her password because her older lady friends keep sending her links. I think she finally gets not to click on the links but she is now very, very paranoid and would like that added security of a anti-phishing extension/add-on in Firefox. I looked a few of them but wasn't certain which one would work best for her based on using a Mac.

    Hi,
Please see [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Parental%20controls this]. Additionally, if you are providing ongoing support, you could use [https://www.opendns.com/ OpenDNS] for DNS resolution (208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220) depending on your location and speed, or use its [https://www.opendns.com/home-solutions/parental-controls/#home additional features]. You can also try [http://www1.k9webprotection.com/aboutk9/overview K9], which would all complement Firefox's solid builtin protection (Tools (Alt + T) > Options > [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Options%20window%20-%20Privacy%20panel?as=u Privacy]).

  • Can anyone recommend a VERY easy to use program for creating a very basic app for my iPhone4?

I just want to be able to enter a few fields of data and have it emailed to my office.  Any suggestions?  I am not a programmer, so easy is the key word here.
I work for a craft brewery and I want to be able to enter some basic repedative info from kegs of beer and how the beer pours back to our brewery for quality controll.
    Thanks gang!

This is easily accomplished using HTML5 and JavaScript. In this case, the most difficult part will be encoding the mailto URL. Most people don't realize that the you can stuff an entire email message into a mailto URL, not just an e-mail address.
In this model, you would compose a web-page (one or more files) and include a manifest file (that lists the files used for that page), and reference the manifest file in the page itself. You would then browse to the page, and save a bookmark to the page on the phone's springboard (an icon on the home screen). By including a manifest, all the files that make up the page are copied to your device and you can use the application locally.
In fact, HTML5 on iOS permits you to write databases, draw graphs, make animations, etc. What you can't do is access other apps from within the HTML5 app (outside of using URLs).
In your particular scenario, though, if there's network connectivity in the brewery, I would suggest a regular web-application on the phone and write a little front-end to some database. You also have options like FileMaker Go, Numbers for iPhone, etc.

  • Can anyone recommend a good instruction book for intermediate Mac users?

I have been using Mac for 3 years now so am not a total beginner, but still need help in many areas of OS X use. These forums are brilliant and thanks to the willing help from more expert members I have learnt a lot ( thank you), however there are times when just having a book open in front of you is the easiest way to get to grips with something. Can anyone recommend a good user manual for people like me who don't need a real beginners guide but also don't want a mind numbing, in depth, advanced text. I already have Maria Langers Visual Quickstart Guide which is useful but is exactly what it says, a quick start, and David Pogues Missing Manual which I find a little frustrating as he seems to fall short of explaining exactly how to do something after he says it can be done!
I guess what I am really after is a clearly written book that is good for beginners and more advanced users alike, with screen shots to show you what you should be doing.
    Grateful for any suggestions.
macbook white 2ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   512mb ram and 60gig hard drive,

    Hi again,
Many thanks for the feedback and the star!
For troubleshooting, Dr Smoke's Troubleshooting Mac OS X eBook is invaluable. Again, I have the Panther edition. I haven't, yet, felt the need for the Tiger edition with so many of the tips available free via his FAQs.
The only drawback, of course, is that when one is in a fix and possibly unable to boot up, the e-book isn't accessible unless one has a copy on another Mac.
    Have fun,
    Adrian

  • Can anyone recommend a good app for designing and printing labels?

I have just switched from pc to mac and have pages on my macbook but it does not have a label function (please apple sort this out its the only major flaw!) so can anyone recommend a good app that will do what a pc does? I do not really want to pay £85+ for office for mac just for the word program

One way to find an app at the App Store is to use keywords.
Type   print labels   in the search field top right corner of the App Store window then press Enter or Return on your keyboard.
Click one of the apps listed. Always check Requirements under Information and definitely read customer reviews before purchasing and make sure there is a support link available in case you need to contact the app developer for questions.
This forum is mainly for troubleshooting the App Store.
For feedback for software designed for printing labels, try posting your topic in the Mac OS X community here.

  • Can Anyone Recommend Books About Mac and Tiger?

    Hello,
I'm heading back to the homeland for a short visit in a week's time. I'd like to buy a book that can explain a few things about Tiger so I don't always have to visit the Apple Store and bother the Geniuses there.
Can anyone recommend any good books about Mac and Tiger? I know of "Mac For Dummies" but I've never been a big fan of that series. Cheers and thanks.

    Hi, jasperboy.
My "Learning About Mac OS X" FAQ has a number of resources that you will find helpful including books, online training, and more.
    Good luck!

Macs with a FireWire port will also boot happily from an External drive. You don't even need to open the MacBook.
Some users buy a drive they would like to have as a future Internal drive, and also buy an external enclosure. They get the External set up the way they want it, then swap with the Internal drive.

The Griffin Survivor is a military-grade case that I use. It's $40 and I purchased it at Best Buy. It has a rubber piece that covers the charging port, but can be easily removed for charging while still in the case. The only downside of the case is because of the added girth, it makes the iPod unusable with iHomes or other docks unless you take it out of the case.

  • Can anyone recommend a good audio analyzer beside Waves PAZ & SpectraFoo

Can anyone recommend a good audio analyzer beside Waves PAZ & SpectraFoo.
Inspector is not what search. It should be exacting.
    Thanks martin

Hello Martin. I use Elemental Audio's Inspector XL and it works great for me, especially the K-System metering and FFT analyzer. I wish you could resize the FFT window. Now that it is a roger nichols digital product it requires ilok. The other analyzers that I considered before choosing inspector xl were paz (blah), spetrafoo (too much too soon, but maybe later), audioease periscope (not universal binary yet, no k-system), and bias master perfection suite's reveal (also not universal binary yet and works only inside peak and no k-system.) All of this info is from the north american summer so it is probably out of date. My favorite analyzer is Steinberg's Wavelab, it is very configurable and it's easy to setup for monitoring your stereo mix thru another computer, but it is windows only.
It sounds like you really need one of these...

One of these pro tools plugins allows you to select and modify fft just like other software allows selection and editing of waveforms. Awesome. EXPENSIVE!

  • Can anyone recommend a good messenger bag for a macbook air 13?

Can anyone recommend a good messenger bag for a macbook air 13"?

    I agree with Shldr,
I have a MBA 11" and a MBA 13", and use that one for my 13" Air, and the smaller version for my 11".
I have spent at least $600 chasing down the perfect bag(s). There isn't one, AFAIK. The Incase bags are my favorite.
I do prefer the older version of that bag though (a single velcro flap for the double compartment side). The new version holds a tad less. (I gave my new version to my MIL), and use the older one I have.
