Can anyone recommend any good books on leaning actionscript for flash?

Can anyone recommend any good books on leaning actionscript
for flash?
Intermediate level
I have been using flash for about 2 years more as a hobby
than anything else, some websites etc but now I realise I am going
to need to learn more actionscripting to do what I want, I have
come to terms with the simple stuff like goto – basic
variables – load mov – enough to programme up website
navigation.
I ideally want to learn more about the dynamic side of flash,
mostly for designing user interfaces and websites etc
I’m after a book that doesn’t get too heavy too
fast yet I’m a little past the more basic functions
Any thoughts?
Cheers

  • Can anyone recommend a good Mac Calendar, Contact program for the iPhone

Can anyone recommend a good Mac Calendar, Contact program for the iPhone. The one intalled is hopelessly inadequate and inefficient. 2 Main problems- The current iCal + Contacts programs do not link to each other. And there is no To Do List!
Palm and MS Outlook had those features 6 years ago! Whats up with Apple?!!

ical does have a to do list in it. either click the little pin under the calendar, or click show to do list in the view menu.
i don't know much purpose behind needing to link ical and address book (not that i'm saying it isn't important at all - you obviously have some type of need for it). but it's got to be possible somehow, because you can set ical to make a calendar of birthdays from your address book contacts (in the main preference pane for the application).
plus, i doubt there'd be another mac calendar application you'd be able to sync with your iphone, unless whoever developed it developed an iphone app to sync it with. probably wouldn't sync with your contacts/calendar apps that come with the iphone.

  • Can Anyone Recommend Any Good Tutorials For A Beginner?

    Hi,
I just purchased Pro Logic 9 and was wondering if anyone knows of any good lessons/tutorials to help a first time user of the Pro Logic series. Im excited to get into this program and record but it is so powerful that it is a bit overwhelming. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

    I agree with JG99.
    +1 macprovideo
I've seen both the lynda and macprovideo logic training. Don't get me wrong the Logic training at lynda is ok for the basics. The macprovideo ones are excellent and go much further. So I could learn in depth how all the instruments, like the EXS24 sampler, Ultrabeat drum machine, synths and plugins work and how to use them. There are proper whole tutorials dedicated to mixing and mastering. For me and my studio buddies macprovideo for final cut, logic and now the photoshop titles has saved us countless hours and a lot of hair!

The macprovideo iPad and iPhone apps rock too!

  • Can anyone recommend some good handlebar or bike mounts for the iphone 6?

I'm looking for an iPhone 6 mount that does not cover my screen and will be stable for long rides. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I would have to recommend the Tackform Freedom Bike Mount. It has an adjustable grip so you can customize the tension on your phone. It also gives you full access to your speakers and ports, etc. Works with any handlebar. ( It comes with a few rubber strips to custom fit to the bar size. Ultra Light design. It also comes with this rubber safety sling that grips the corners of the phone to provide additional stability. I originally got it to us the MapMyRide app and I've put about 2,000 miles on my bike so far and haven't found any issues.

  • Can anyone recommend a good book?

About DreamWeaver of course, not the latest novel you have enjoyed, oh ok then that too!
Have you used any books to get to know how to use DW and which ones could you recommend and which were not very good at all.
I have only been using DW for 3 days so pretty new to it. However apart from the basics I would like to know extras like inserting video etc.Hmm maybe that is basic!

I suppose it was but that guy was experienced with webstie making and wasnt wanting a basic book, etc.
"Webstie"... Nice typo. It reflects the quality of a lot of websites - they have a lot in common with pig sties.
If you have only just started working with websites, it's not a book about Dreamweaver you really need, but a book about HTML and CSS. Unless you understand the basic technologies underlying website development, you will find working with Dreamweaver an uphill struggle, or you'll fall into a lot of bad habits that will make your life much more difficult later on. You can learn a lot about both HTML and CSS even without a book. Take a look at the free tutorials on www.w3schools.com. I would also recommend using the build your first website tutorial in the Adobe Developer Connection: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_cs4_website_pt1.html.
While I'm at it, I might as well also give a shameless plug for my book on CSS, "Getting StartED with CSS". There are three chapters available for free download at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/bk_getting_started_css.html.
As for general books on Dreamweaver, "Dreamweaver CS4: The Missing Manual" is very good. Many years ago, when I first started using Dreamweaver, I found "Dreamweaver Bible" extremely useful, but I haven't seen the most recent version, so can't say whether it's still as good as it used to be.
I have written "The Essential Guide to Dreamweaver CS4 with CSS, Ajax, and PHP", but I would not recommend it to a beginner. It's aimed at readers who already have a reasonable grasp of web development basics, and want to dive deeper into using Dreamweaver.
This question gets asked quite frequently, so you could also use the forum's search feature to look for other recommendations.

  • Can anyone recommend a good instruction book for intermediate Mac users?

I have been using Mac for 3 years now so am not a total beginner, but still need help in many areas of OS X use. These forums are brilliant and thanks to the willing help from more expert members I have learnt a lot ( thank you), however there are times when just having a book open in front of you is the easiest way to get to grips with something. Can anyone recommend a good user manual for people like me who don't need a real beginners guide but also don't want a mind numbing, in depth, advanced text. I already have Maria Langers Visual Quickstart Guide which is useful but is exactly what it says, a quick start, and David Pogues Missing Manual which I find a little frustrating as he seems to fall short of explaining exactly how to do something after he says it can be done!
I guess what I am really after is a clearly written book that is good for beginners and more advanced users alike, with screen shots to show you what you should be doing.
    Grateful for any suggestions.
macbook white 2ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   512mb ram and 60gig hard drive,

    Hi again,
Many thanks for the feedback and the star!
For troubleshooting, Dr Smoke's Troubleshooting Mac OS X eBook is invaluable. Again, I have the Panther edition. I haven't, yet, felt the need for the Tiger edition with so many of the tips available free via his FAQs.
The only drawback, of course, is that when one is in a fix and possibly unable to boot up, the e-book isn't accessible unless one has a copy on another Mac.
    Have fun,
    Adrian

  • Can anyone recommend any database software

    Hi,
I am looking to obtain database software that can offer the same sort of features as MS Access, can anyone recommend any software? i am just starting up my own business and need to create something to store customer information etc.
    Thanks

Unlike MacGunt, I have used Bento and love it. With the little bit of work I did at IBM using M$ Access, I found Bento to be head and shoulders above it. Access always seemed kludgy to me at best whereas Bento is an honest to goodness database manager.
Seeing as how I retired now I don't have any business usage for it but I do it find it very useful for the club work I need to do.
Two features I like are the templates which cover a broad range of database usage. I would think that one of those would be able to help you get started with your business needs. The other is the app which allows me to have the Bento database on my iPhone.

  • Can anyone recommend a good 2TB external drive for my iMac 10.9 ?

can anyone recommend a good 2TB external drive for my iMac 10.9 ?

The Griffin Survivor is a military-grade case that I use. It's $40 and I purchased it at Best Buy. It has a rubber piece that covers the charging port, but can be easily removed for charging while still in the case. The only downside of the case is because of the added girth, it makes the iPod unusable with iHomes or other docks unless you take it out of the case.

  • Is it Possible in JSF? Can anyone recommend any java Technology for this?

I am doing Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science. This is my final semester and doing project work.
Any body having idea about my requirment, help and guide to me
My description and questions are as follows:
    Current Approach:
PHP has been used to achieve the flexibility of creating custom images on-the-fly. Using this approach we were able to create a web-interface similar to the application client, where we could display links and get the exact look and feel of the application client.
    Drawback:
This approach forces us to use two different technologies Java and PHP, since our system uses 'Java' accessing all the API's from PHP becomes a problem. while PHP provides a way to invoke any java method. It comes with a draw back, the method calls are little slow. This delay's are loading of web-page.
    Requirment:
    1. Creating custom images on various locations of the screen
    2. The Exact look and feel of the application map should be achieved
    3. Place elements and links correctly as in application-client reflect any changes
    4. Generation events on the Links and Elements
    5. Setting Backgroud images for different maps
    Questions:
    1. is it possible in JavaServer Faces (BETA)?
    2. If it is possible is JavaServer Faces(BETA) How to create custom images and create interfaces among them?
3.Can anyone recommend any java Technology for doing this?
Anybody having idea, help and guide me for doing my project

    hi,
I think you can use JSF
    cheers

  • Can anyone recommend a good app for designing and printing labels?

I have just switched from pc to mac and have pages on my macbook but it does not have a label function (please apple sort this out its the only major flaw!) so can anyone recommend a good app that will do what a pc does? I do not really want to pay £85+ for office for mac just for the word program

One way to find an app at the App Store is to use keywords.
Type   print labels   in the search field top right corner of the App Store window then press Enter or Return on your keyboard.
Click one of the apps listed. Always check Requirements under Information and definitely read customer reviews before purchasing and make sure there is a support link available in case you need to contact the app developer for questions.
This forum is mainly for troubleshooting the App Store.
For feedback for software designed for printing labels, try posting your topic in the Mac OS X community here.

  • Can anyone recommend a good audio analyzer beside Waves PAZ & SpectraFoo

Can anyone recommend a good audio analyzer beside Waves PAZ & SpectraFoo.
Inspector is not what search. It should be exacting.
    Thanks martin

Hello Martin. I use Elemental Audio's Inspector XL and it works great for me, especially the K-System metering and FFT analyzer. I wish you could resize the FFT window. Now that it is a roger nichols digital product it requires ilok. The other analyzers that I considered before choosing inspector xl were paz (blah), spetrafoo (too much too soon, but maybe later), audioease periscope (not universal binary yet, no k-system), and bias master perfection suite's reveal (also not universal binary yet and works only inside peak and no k-system.) All of this info is from the north american summer so it is probably out of date. My favorite analyzer is Steinberg's Wavelab, it is very configurable and it's easy to setup for monitoring your stereo mix thru another computer, but it is windows only.
It sounds like you really need one of these...
    http://www.cedaraudio.com/products/products.html
One of these pro tools plugins allows you to select and modify fft just like other software allows selection and editing of waveforms. Awesome. EXPENSIVE!

  • Can anyone recommend a good messenger bag for a macbook air 13?

Can anyone recommend a good messenger bag for a macbook air 13"?

    I agree with Shldr,
I have a MBA 11" and a MBA 13", and use that one for my 13" Air, and the smaller version for my 11".
I have spent at least $600 chasing down the perfect bag(s). There isn't one, AFAIK. The Incase bags are my favorite.
I do prefer the older version of that bag though (a single velcro flap for the double compartment side). The new version holds a tad less. (I gave my new version to my MIL), and use the older one I have.
