Can i connect powermac G4 to LCD tv?

Is it possible to connect my Power Mac G4 (Quicksilver 2002) to a samsung LCD tv?
will the DVI to Video adaptor work? if this connector is only for the G5, is there any other way to do it? i would like to use my G4 for presentations, dvd playback etc.
thx

i would connect an ADC to DVI adaptor and then a DVI to HDMI adaptor to go on the tv, right?
Basically, Yes. I would use the ADC to DVI adapter, and buy a DVI/HDMI cable.

I bought a Powermac G5 (april,2005) and a Samsung syncmaster S22A300B screen. When i connect the mac to the screen with a VGA cable all i get is a black screen, but somehow it recognizes that it is connected. When I connect the mac to the TV everything works just fine. Any idea what i can do?
    Thanks in advane

    Thanks.
It indeed pretty much looks like the Samsung screen is somewhat broken. Guess I have to bring it back to the store and ask for a new one.

  • Can't connect MacBook Pro to LCD TV

I have a S-Link mini display to vga adapter and whenever I try to connect it to my Samsung LCD TV or to my PC monitor, I have "no signal". I tried to detect displays many time and even rebooting my Mac, it doesn't work. What I have to do?

    Hey V.Kastner,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues connecting your MacBook Pro to an external display, in this case an HDMI TV. The following article may help in troubleshooting this issue further:

  • I installed an airport card in my powermac g4, how do I connect to my router (not an airport base.) How can I connect to my router?

I have a powermac g4 quicksilver in which I have installed a normal airport wireless card in the dedicated slot. How can I connect to my router? It is not an apple airbase station but does it need to be? How can I connect to my router?

What encryption is the Rouer using? If WPA2 you likely can't.
    Go to System Preferences
    Click Network
    Highlight AirPort and click Configure...
What shows for Routers there? Or is Join Other Network availabe in 10.3.x?

  • HT1825 Can I connect post cinema displays to my G4 and how?

Can I connect post cinema displays to my G4 and how?

You can use newer monitors but there are different ways to connect.
It all depends on the video card installed in your computer. Different model cards had different ports. My G4 MDD has the ATI Radeon 9000 with one ADC port (abandoned technology) and one DVI port (useful technology). So we need to either see the description of your graphics card from System Profiler >Graphics/displays, a photo of the ports on your card, or both.
As long as you find a monitor that shares the kind of ports on your Mac, you will be fine. I have a 2008-vintage LCD monitor on that circa 2003 MDD of mine. The MDD shipped with an Apple DVI-to-VGA adaptor so I can connect any monitor with DVI or VGA ports.
There is an inconsistency in your equipment profile: No PowerMac can run OS 10.6. Please do "About this Mac" and verify your processor type and Mac OS version. Then you can edit your profile to avoid future confusion.

  • Can't connect Macbook Pro to TV with HDMI

I have a Macbook Pro (osx Lion) and I can not connect it to my tv. I am using a mini display port to HDMI adapter to connect to my Insignia TV. Whenever I connect it the screen on my laptop goes blue for a second but nothing shows up on the TV. When I check for displays nothing happens and the TV says no signal. I have tried using other cords and have had the same result. When I try to use the same cord and adapter on a different TV it works just fine. The TV model is an Insignia LCD TV NS-L22Q-10A. Please help, I have tried various methods and still can not get it to work.

    Hello Alley-cat,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
I found an article to assist with troubleshooting external displays connected to your mac that should prove helpful.
Named Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays you can find it here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1573.
No video or no signal, image distortion, "snow," or flickering
    Check connections
When using an external display be sure to check the following:
If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. It is always good to have your notebook connected to AC power when an external display is in use.
Confirm display adapters are fully seated in their respective connections and that they are supported models and for the computer and display. Refer to these articles to assist you with adapter compatibility and further configuration information:
    Monitor and Display Adapter Table
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
Apple Mini DisplayPort adapters: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.Reset the resolutionStart by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Connecting Powerbook to External LCD Monitor

The D-BUS port on the external LCD monitor is a female port, so is the VGA port of the DVI Adapter, How can I connect these 2 if both are female ports, what do I need???

Sounds like you need a VGA cable with male VGA plugs at both ends. Quite common, for VGA monitors that don't have hard-wired cables.

  • What kind of mac would I need for Nexflix, basic search and email? Also, sounds silly, but can I connect an HDMI from Mac to tv?

What kind of mac would I need for Nexflix, basic search and email? Also, sounds silly, but can I connect an HDMI from Mac to tv?

Just an FYI.  The Macs named PowerMac date from early 2006 and before.  Use this tip to discover where to post once you get your Mac:
Site map of Communities and Categories
The cheapest Mac available new is a Mac Mini.   It is no bigger than many an external hard drive.  But the screen and keyboard and mouse must be purchased separately.  They support USB and Bluetooth keyboards and mice, and pretty much any DVI, HDMI, or displayport display.   Although the iMac is certainly an attractive option if all you want to deal with is deciding on a printer.   I still recommend getting an Apple USB keyboard for the occasional times you may need to troubleshoot startup issues.  Normally not a problem, but as it gets older some issues can be fixed at startup or diagnosed at startup.

    Hi,
I'm planning to buy a laptop for use in my office with 2 LCD's (1920x1200 each)
Can I connect one to the VGA and the other to the DisplayPort on a T500,
or do I need an extension box,
or do I need any other model.
    /Pelle

    welcome to the forum!
yes, you can connect two external WUXGA monitors to the T500 using both the VGA and displayport connectors.   no other hardware is needed besides the display cables.

  • Connecting Mac Book to LCD Screen

Can you connect a macbook to an LG LCD computer screen instead of buying an apple cinema display? And if so where can i get the cords/cables to do so??

Yes, you can. I had my MB connected to an LG LCD via a VGA cable. You'll need an adapter to plug into your MB. Chances are, your MB should have a Mini-DVI port - if so, you'll need this adapter (assuming that your monitor supports VGA). http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9320G/A

  • Help:Can't connect to an old PM9500 from my PB after upgrading it to 10.4.5

Need help: I can't connect anymore to an old Powermac 9500 from my PB after I upgraded the PB to system 10.4.5. I get the message:this file server uses an incompatible version of the AFP protocol.
Before the upgrade the PB ran on 10.2.8 and it was no problem connecting to the PM9500 (OS 7.5.5) via Appletalk/Ethernet. As I still use the PM9500 to run an Optronics drum scanner, it remains vital to be able to transfer files to my PB.

    Hi,
Apple made some changes to the file sharing in Tiger that will cause this problem. It looks like you'll need to upgrade the 9500 to Mac OS 9 or later. More information is available in the Knowledge Base.

  • Can't connect wirelessly to C7250 on Mac OS X 10.10.1

My HP C7250 has a spotty connection. Last week, wireless printing and scanning worked fine, this week I can't connect. The printer does not show up on my router as a connected wireless device thought the LCD screen and a test page per the printer it is connected and list an IP. Nothing was updated since the last time it worked.
It works fine over a USB connection.
Using Mac OS X 10.10.1, the latest as of yet.

    Hi,
Try rebooting your router by unplugging it for 30 seconds.
Next allow it a minute or two, rebooth both the printer and the <ac and try adding the printer again.
If the issue remain - click the plus button to add a printer, then click the IP tab and select the HP Jetdirect Socked.
Type the printer IP as the address and add the printer, can you print wirelessly using this print queue?
If you are abe to print that way, be sure to clarify your router brand and model to better understand any possible cause.

  • "Safari can't connect to the server" message at some, but not all, websites

I can't connect to my homepage (and other sites) since a defrag operation was interrupted, after which I did an archive and install. I can't find a problem in Network Settings. No difference when using Firefox 2.0.0.4. Please help.
    Thanks!
PowerMac G5 1.8 GHz Dual Mac OS X (10.4.10) 1.5 G RAM, DSL, 500 GB and 300 GB Internal Disks

I apologize for the delay. I took my macbook to the genius bar, and they fixed the issue by deleting some files from the old OS (though I unfortunately don't know how they did this as a manager in the back room took care of it). I still couldn't visit sites using Java as they said Java had somehow installed incorrectly and I would need to reinstall the OS once again to fix this. I continued to use my machine without trying to fix the Java issue for a few weeks. However, without reinstalling the OS, the exact problem has started again. Yesterday I reinstalled OSX 10.6.3 in order to fix the Java issue, hoping it would fix everything, but Java still isn't working, and I still can't visit certain web sites.
I have added those two DNS servers, but that did not solve the issue.
Any advice on how to 1) fix Java and 2) delete the old OS files? I have run all software updates with no luck.
