I now have 2 macbook pros - one 2011 and another 2013 model, both running the latest OSX 10.9.4, can I hook up the monitors so one is an extended desktop of another?

I retract my previous "No." If you can live with limited performance (slow refresh/choppy action video/no gaming) on the second external monitor, you could use a USB video adapter and a DVI-HDMI adapter to connect it to a USB port on your computer.

How can I close the lid on my Mac Book Pro (late 09, 10.6.8) without it going into sleep mode?
I recently moved my room around and such, and now it's become more useful (I also purchased an HDMI adaptor which helps) to use my TV as a display, especially when I'm recording music, watching movies online, etc. Problem is, the HDMI cord I'm using is only 1.8 ft. so my computer has to sit in the middle of my desk, thus taking up the bottom portion of my TV screen when open.
I know there's an app out there that keeps the computer from going to sleep, but I don't like it because I forget it's on and Ill toss my computer in my backpack to go to the library, I get there and it's a million degrees....
If it matters for anything the setup is as follows:
13 inch MBP, 8 gb ram, 2.26ghz intel core 2 duo, Os X Version 10.6.8. Late 09 I believe.
I'm using the mini display port to HDMI adaptor (made by apple, not a knockoff if it matters).
When using my Tv I'm using a wireless mighty mouse (bluetooth) and the apple on screen keyboard.
Also, it's not at the top of my priorities, but eventually I'll probably have the computer set up next to the Tv, I've got the displays set up so that the Tv is on top of the computer display (I understand how to move them) but is there a way to make it so that when the lid is open, it acts as two, non-mirrored, displays, and when I close the lid it switches to one display (the Tv), and obviously, when no display is connected, it uses the internal display as it's sole display?
And lastly, is there a way to transmit sound through my Mini Display port to my TV? It's not the end of the world if not in 10.6, I saw something about how to do it in lion, but that's not enough of a reason for me to upgrade. I use a sound system so like I said, not the end of the world, just would be really nice, and I feel like after the money I've dumped into apple for this computer, it should do about anything I ask it to short of making me waffles in the morning (however, apple, if you release some sort of add on to do this, I'll be at the midnight release wearing a shirt that says"waffle enthusiast".)You can't but you can wake it up immediately after.

How can I fix the backlight on my mac book pro that I got in July of 2009?
I got a 15" macbook pro in July of 2009. I have had multiple issues with it, including a hard drive and battery that crashed. My macbook pro's screen started flickering last night and appeared to be fuzzy. Now, the screen/backlight won't light up. I am pretty sure it is the inverter or it needs a new light bulb. Apple of course won't even talk to me because my apple care is up, which is such silly. Anyways, we have decided that we will fix it myself.
Can anyone tell me where to buy the parts and exactly what parts I should buy. Also, does anyone know of any good videos or instructions that will walk us through it.

I am not certain this will fix your problem but I suggest you assign the printer a static IP address.
Using the printer's front panel, select Menu > Network > WLAN > TCP/IP > Boot method, and change it to "static". Provide a static IP address that is on your LAN's subnet.
For example, if you are using an AirPort Extreme, you might give it an IP address of 10.0.1.100. If you are using a Netgear or Linksys router that defaults to issuing 192.168.x.x addresses, you might give it an address of 192.168.1.100. That way, the printer will always "reside at the same address" on your network. If your router has the ability, you should reserve that address so that the router does not attempt to assign it to another DHCP device.
Then, go to System Preferences > Print & Scan, and delete your existing printer with the "–" (minus) button. Add it again, using the "+" (plus) button. In the window that appears, select the IP pane, and from the Protocol menu select "Line Printer Daemon (LPD)". In the Address field type the IP address you gave your printer.
If all goes well the "Pring Using" field will detect the printer at that address and automatically select the appropriate driver. You will see something similar to the following screenshot ("name" can be whatever you decide, and "location" is optional):
Click Add, then you can close System Preferences.
There are other possible reasons your printer is "not responding" which could include wireless interference from competing wireless networks, but try this "static IP" method first. It should mitigate the problem. -

I made a big mistake to change the setting of my Mac book pro to "me only". Now ofcourse It cannot open the login page, for how would the mac know it is me? How can I change the setting back to "everyone"? I have back up in the past but the last month I have not. I really want to keep the data.
So how can I go in and change the setting, It stays ofcourse at the apple screen with wheel. All info is there and the computer works fine, just cannot use it or have been able to log in.wjosten is spot on. If you really want iCloud, then you will need to acquire a new or second hand MBP that can run Lion.

There is a OneClickdigital ereader available in the App Store. Download that to your iPod to read pdfs and books from the library. And you might need to download the OneClickdigital eaudio player to listen to audiobooks from the library. Once both are downloaded sync you iPod again to transfer them.

That may not be what you want, but it's what's going to happen if you sync it to your Mac. You are trying to sync media to your phone from an iTunes library other than the one it is set up to sync with.
Transfer the data from the computer you have been syncing with to the new one, then set up a new sync relationship. -

What do you mean transfer? You can't copy files with an hdmi cable. If you mean display them on your tv, that's another story.
When the hdmi cable is connect you should see your tv and macbook flash blue. After this your tv is setup as an extra screen. Move anything you want to the right on your macbook screen and they will appear on the tv. -
Problem connecting Samsung Galaxy SII to Mac book Pro
Hello. I have issue with connecting Samsung Galaxy SII to Mac book Pro Late 2011! When i connect phone to Mac via usb, phone makes sound but nothing happens. Even if i open Transfet tool. Problem is not in Phone or wire as on another computers like my MinMac it works fine. Also on Windows side all is ok. Mac book Pro USB ports also are ok as it finds and open my iPhone5! Is there possibility that there is some faults with USB drivers in Mac book Pro! How can i reset or restart usb drivers if fault is there! What else you can suggest to try?

Only you can make that determination. All things being equal the 2.5 GHz model is slower.

One of the users on my Mac book pro running mountain lion finds that no changes made in last session are there next time they log on.
For instance, the Macintosh HD icon, is always moved so that it is almost off the screen to top left hand side of the desktop.
None of my changes to the sidebar in the finder are there.
My changes to the dock have reverted.
Despite unticking the box when logging out, even though i have quit all applications, iphoto and safari are always re-opened.
iphoto always says the library needs to be upgraded... even though i did that the last time.
I have tried deleting ALL the files in the "Saved application state" folder in the library folder, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.
This is on a second admin user account.
The main user account seems to be fine.
This account used to be in the filevault on Lion, but is not now in Mountain Lion.
Can anyone help?
ThanksThe same tragic thing happened to me, not even a full two days after I bought it. I immediately powered it off, wiped it as best I could, and put it in front of a fan. I tried valiantly to get the back off, but couldn't remove all the screws. I was basically inconsolable until I realized that no matter what, my credit card insurance would cover it, since it had been less than 90 days. Fast forward 48 hours, and it seemed to run just fine. Some of the keys and the track pad were sticky, and I figured since it was covered, I might as well get it fixed. My only concern at this point was had I voided the Apple Care. I brought it in, told them what happened, said what I needed to satisfy the credit card, and they said, "We'll just swap it out for you, no problem." I was thrilled, and the Genius said they appreciated my honesty, and it was easier for all parties to just do it this way. And my Apple Care was transferred to the new machine. This was my first Mac and, needless to say, I am now an Apple devotee.

Can't get WIFI on my new Mac Book Pro
Setting up my new Mac Book Pro and on the WiFI page, I see and select my network name. Enter password and it hangs. Try other networks and get same result. I have two iPads and they work fine as do other devices. I thought I maybe maxed out on my router so I disconnected two iPads from the network and the Mac still hangs after I enter the password. I know the the PW is right cause I can reconnect my iPads. DSL router is a Century Q1000. Does the Mac Book Pro require a different WiFi router?

A sad loss to bundled software, with, I presume, their thinking being that optical media is soon to be a thing of the past. Superdrives have been done away with in the newer MacAirs and MacBook Pros and will eventually disappear in all devices. Downloading Apps, updated, visual and audio media, etc. will all take place via wireless transfer, as with SmartPhones and Tablets. Therefore who will need a program that makes great DVDs?
Me for one. Still have iDVD on my iLife '11 DVD and will keep it until all my Macs are no longer supported, which could be next year or next decade, who would know. So as babowa says, get a DVD while they are still available.
