Can I copy one item's metadata and paste it into another item?

I don't think I can, but I thought I'd ask. I'm using Bridge in CS3.
In the archive files of my workplace there are numerous duplicate images (one color, one b&w; one original scan, one edited version...) where one of the item in the pair has metadata (descriptions, mainly, but other things too) and the other is missing metadata. I want to be able to copy the whole chunk of metadata from one and plop it into the other item.
Metadata templates, while useful, don't really make sense for this task, as I only want to remember each chunk of data once.
What would be perfect is a right-click option of "Copy metadata" that turns into "Paste metadata" on another file. Oh man. That would be so nice.
Is my only choice to copy and paste each metadata field individually? Or is there a better way?

It would not be a good idea to copy the whole metadata from one file to another, there could be camera raw data, tiff data, colormode, resolution, orientation etc. that would really screw up your document! Selected Metadata yes but not all.
I wrote a minimal script to copy and then paste the selected metadata to a single or multiple documents..

The fields available: Keywords, Description, Title and Headline.
Maybe you could modify it to add the fields you require?

I am working with pages for a book and have made already a layout whre photos and graphs etc. are partly outside of the area for the text, their posotion is not fixed the the text.
And now I nedd support: When I add text or a photo to the layout the text moves and the unfixed photos etc. keep there position. This means I have to update each photo or graph to shift it to the new position ore I have to place photos etc. within the frame of the text, which is not the kind of layout I am going for.
I hope for two reliefs, which I do not know how to realize it.
1. If I specify each chapter as a new partition starting with own page (then I hoped) the new section would shift together into a new page and the positions of photos etc. and text would stay fix. But unfortunately this seeems not to be the case. Question: is this possibe orno? If yes, how to do it?
I could divede the whole txt chapter by chapter into individual documents, which are seperatly created and worked. At the end I would have to merge all this document into one. Is it possibe to merge different pages-document into one document?

Images and other object can either be floating or be inline. Yours are floating and will not move with the text. Inline object will move with the text but can't be outside the text layer. It doesn't help if you have created section in the document. Floating images doesn't care. Nor will it help if you create several documents that you want to merge later. Doesn't make any difference.
My suggestion is that until your text is finished you have the images inline. Then as a last editing you can start make the images floating and move them a little.

You can't copy "iTunes" because it has the same name as another item

I did not have enough space on my old MacBook to hold my iTunes library, so purchased a passport HD to hold my music. I now have an imac and am trying to copy my itunes library from the drive onto my iMac. But when i try to copy i get this message:
"You can’t copy “Tyler iTunes” because it has the same name as another item on the destination volume, and that volume doesn’t distinguish between upper- and lowercase letters in filenames."
I tried deleting all files on the computer with the word iTunes, but it keeps happening. I saw on some other threads something about the drives' formatting, so just for reference my passport is formatted "Case-sensitive, journaled" and my iMac is "journaled"
I'm pretty good with computers and this just has me stumped. Its doing this on my fathers macbook pro purchased at the same time, so two new computers with the same problem, two different hard drives for each library. Same message. I'm baffled.

Search for "Tyler iTunes", the same as the folder you are trying to copy.

I've done it. Select your text, copy and then go into the other application and paste it.
If you want to see what it'll look like you can open the notes app or a word processing app and paste it there, then into your final destination.

Why can't I copy a Url address anymore and paste it into an email or somewhere else ?

I have downloaded the Theme Penguin 3.9.7 as that is the background I had used in the older version of firefox and now it doesn't look anything like what it used to be ...at all... or for that matter what is shows what it is in the choices of the themes.. If I disable it , then I can highlite and copy a Url address but not if I have it enabled. I also can't even type in a URL address into the address bar at all. So does this mean I can't use a theme and have to just stay with the regular firefox theme? It will let me copy a URL but only if I use that theme.

Copying text in a column and pasting it into email

I'm trying to copy a list of email addresses that are in a column in Numbers. It either won't let me paste it in an email at all or if I can get it pasted in another place it pastes it almost like it was an image, not individual lines of email addresses.
Any help?

Anyway -- what I stated was thanks for the help -- it works as you say, but does not really solve my or most peoples problems with this (I have now realised).
Because dropping in address groups from the Addressbook will still format the addresses so that they cannot be copied (intuitively/plainly as in Excel). One could however copy them and paste into a new document once again, but then you have to manually drag the table for hours to reach the length needed to be able to paste the addresses into the table, in order that one subsequently may be allowed to actually copy the addresses normally. Numbers also default to hiding many relevant columns when dragging and dropping Addressbook groups (one has to unhide them).
I just find it odd that a Mac app should be even more difficult to actually use than even the hopeless Excel ... . /Jerry
This question is not really related to Numbers but to AddressBook.
It's quite funny because from time to time, on this forum, some users are annoyed because when they copy rows from Numbers, hidden rows are copied too
while you are annoyed because , when you copy from AddressBook, hidden fields are not copied.
In your message, if I understand it correctly, there is something which seems to be wrong.
When we paste hudreds of rows of datas in a table, there is no need to create the table's rows by hand. Just paste at the bottom of the table and the new rows will be created automatically.

When I highlight a word or phrase and copy to the clipboard, then paste it in another area the clipboard does not clear the phrase. Therefore, every time as I type and hit the enter key it continues to paste the phrase all over my document. I do have the latest download of Firefox installed (16.0, win 7 and that is when this started. How do I stop this obnoxious behavior so I can type a sentence with normalcy?

* Copy: Ctrl+C
* Paste: Ctrl+V

The problem is that my Firefox is version 4.0. I read somewhere in the bookmarks topics that I should have done nothing before upgrading to version higher than 12.
The thing is my computer is 8 years old and I have only 512 MB RAM. There is no way to upgrade more that v.4.0. My computer can not handle it.
Any suggestions? Can I export and import with v.4.0 safely?

You would have to export the bookmarks to an HTML file on the old (XP) computer.
*Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Export Bookmarks to HTML
Then you can copy this file to an USB stick and import this file in Firefox on the other computer.<br />
Importing an HTML backup will merge those bookmarks with already existing bookmarks.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Open Directory)

I am cutting a graphic and pasting it into another photoshop file, it is in color when I cut..

..but pastes in black and white. What am I doing wrong?

You are most likely pasting into a grayscale document. Check at the top of your window of your target document to see whether it says "Grayscale" or "RGB."
It's less likely, but you might also have a single channel selected on your channels palette while previewing RGB.
